would the samsung focus work on tmobile network if i had the unlock code?

if you get the focus unlocked, it will work on tmobile, but you wont get the 3G speeds. Only EDGE, since the focus does not have the required HSPA frequencys used by tmobile.

Reviving this thread. So I have a Samsung Focus unlocked on Tmobile and I cannot get data to work. Any ideas on what could help? i have already added my apn of internet2.voicestream.com

in the usa depending where you are they either use epc.tmobile.com or wap.voicestream.com might try the network profile app too... i know samsung has addressed this issue and is in the process of fixing it to where when the unit is unlocked the settings from any gsm carrier will work... there is also a homebrew app somewhere that has worked with mixed results too...
ive tried those apns as well. thanks. and i tried the network profile app too any idea where i can get these homebrew apps?

I hope this isn't an issue, as I just ordered a Focus to replace my wife's v1 iPhone on T-mobile USA.
Anyone know a good place to get an unlock code?
The one on unlockcellphonecode.com/ is $45.00 which seems really high to me.

As far as the frequency concerned, AWS spectrum used by T-Mo is 1700 and 2100 MHz.

ATT Samsung Focus on Tmobile
To anyoe else thinking about getting a Focus to use on Tmobile USA network....
I can confirm everything is working and this is how I got it to work.
Everything works except obviously 3G because att and tmobile use different frequencies for 3G (until the merger at least) 2G works great though.
First thing you need to do is either get an unlock code from ATT (unlikey) or go to FastGSM.com and for 19.00 you can get your phone sim unlocked, so that your tmobile sim will work.
Now your phone works and my data was working out of the box as well.
However, you will not be able to send or recieve MMS messages.
To fix this, go to the market and clck on Samsung Apps, then install their Network Configuation app. Open the app and change network from ATT to Tmobile USA and now MMS will work perfectly.
Hope this info helps someone else.

are you using a grandfathered data plan ($10) or normal data plan?

WOWWWW I was searching to see if an unlocked ATT Focus with be able to MMS on T-Mobile US network. Thanks for the information.
I have a Focus and called ATT for unlock code. They said the unlock code will be provided after May 8th. So waiting for a month before I can use it on T-Mobile US.
My only concern was whether I would be able to send and receive picture messages. I hope your solution works next month!!
Hey All I did a search on the forums for this but didn't see an answer so wanted to put this question out there.
My work allowed me to upgrade my work phone from the standard BB to a Samsung Vibrant. When I got the phone and put my T-Mobile SIM in, the phone worked but internet would not. I called support and found out that this was because my plan through work was for BB internet not Android. The same SIM chip works fine in a Nexus One that I have. I get internet access and everything.
So I thought that maybe if I get my Vibrant unlocked then I would be able to bypass that BB Internet plan requirement. Through my work we got the unlock code from T-Mobile. The unlocked, rooted Vibrant running CM 7 still won't connect to the internet.
is there anyway I can get internet connectivity on the Vibrant, other than asking T-Mobile to change the plan?

You can try changing the APN under Settings > Wireless and network > Mobile networks > Access Point Names
although, I don't know what APN your plan uses.. you can research and find what APN your plan uses and it SHOULD work if you enter the right one...
But don't take my word for this. I can be wrong!
Btw, in the APN menu, is there anything there already?
Make sure u save the apn when done. Dont just exit out

Well i have a nexus s that i have had for a while now and so i decided to flash it to cricket after some time i decided that cricket wasn't for me so i went back to its original carrier sprint but i cant seem to use my internet or send/receive mms unless i am connected to a Wi-Fi connections. What can i do to fix this?? I was also told it had to do with the APN on the phone but i havent been able to get the proper APN settings. Please Help!
Hello, I moved from Ting to a new Sprint MVNO called "Wing". While I thought the move was smart because I am saving money, I now can only use my LTE data on stock ROMs and am restricted to EvDo on anything else. Does anyone know what might be the cause or how I can fix this?
I've tried messing with APN settings and using old methods like MVNOSlayer but these don't seem to work for this new MVNO. Any help is appreciated.
Hello! I've read a lot of posts but I'm unsure about how to do this...I apologize if I've missed something, but I'm asking for some help. I have a sprint note8 that's been sim unlocked from sprint and now has service with TMobile. Most services work with the exception of mms while connected to wifi. I've done all the apn stuff and the only thing that will allow mms is to get off wifi. This appears to be a common issue with T-Mobile port ins. I would like to flip this from sprint based to T-Mobile based to unlock all the features of the phone. I've read that there's a carrier switch and/or a carrier firmware. I don't know which one I need to do since the phone is sim unlocked. Can I get by with doing the carrier firmware only? Do I need to do both? Will my wife kill me if I lose all her stuff, yes.
