Oh great, I'm still waiting for ics on my tab. It's going to be years before jellybean will be announced for this tab by the way Samsung is going. Its frustrating hearing all these new version. By the time jellybean eventually on my tab, Pancake is just around the corner....

Don't be silly. We all know Samsung won't be supporting this tab past ICS.

It's ridiculous! The glitches are not yet solved on the ics yet! Even official versions not out yet and they started up with jellybean
But the news is that android 5.0 will support notebooks desktops as well

i really hope with this update they fixed those bugs... my s2 had many problems and so my friends galaxy s2 s since the ics update .. gingerbread is still the best rom in my opinion

whats all the buzz about 4.04, its not like its a special upgrade, its still ics....
Im more interested in JB, come on guys, are we going to get it?????
I really hope so, personally i dont like ics and im still running LA4 GB, since day 1 of pretty much flashing my phone, it works for mw, ics doesnt.
So if anyone has any goss on JB, would be cool, i know the s3 and hox and note will get it, but, will we..

With JB, try waiting another 6 months.
You do not need the ROM released in your regions to install. Most of them are fine, unless you want languages specific to your region.

sgs2 i9100
my s2 is rooted with CF-Root and im on salman rom, do i have to unroot to be able to uppdate ?

Galaxy S2 Getting Jelly Bean Next month!

"The Samsung Galaxy S2, the Galxy Note and the Galaxy Note 10.1 are the devices that we expect to run Android 4.1 at some point in the immediate, or not-so-immediate, future. In case you happen to own any of these three devices, you’ll be happy to hear that Samsung Sweden has confirmed that all of them will get Jelly Bean in the coming months.
The Galaxy S2 will be updated to Jelly Bean at some point in November, while the Galaxy Note and the Galaxy Note 10.1 will be upgraded in Q4 2012. Considering that we’re already in the fourth quarter of the year, we wouldn’t be surprised to see the Galaxy S2 receive the update at some point next month, with the phablet and tablet to receive it after the handset.
According to Samsung Sweden, the Jelly Bean updates will be available over-the-air or via KIES, but we’ll cross those bridges once we get there. Needless to say that while Samsung may be ready to start releasing the updates, it’s still up to the carriers to issue them."
(Yes, I know there are many JB ROMs out there, but I am unsure if the Project Butter Source code is out for our GS2s)

Only thing I'm a bit affraid is availablity of leaked test builds for now. I remember S3 had first builds a month before official release But good info anyway.
Plus goes for saying us atleast we are able to carry JB and now even Exynos sources so CM will move on!

On the atrix we hacked Motorola's servers to check for updates/test builds (called cheesecaking)
Similar type of way for Samsung?

Nope, for Samsung you check sammobile(Google It)
I remember they had a leaked 4.0.4 ROM there which, if flashed, resulted in brickin the phones.

You can very safely just watch here...I guarantee within 5 minutes of the leak, at least 4 new threads will be made and it will be posted in every single thread...

I think this thread was meant for all JB discussion...

Project butter has been implemented in one of the Galaxy S2 roms that I have been using lately. Although you have to choose between memory leak fix and project butter, its up to you.

Closest to project butter and memory leak fixed is an unofficial cm10 build by mcm811, here is the link if you can't find it

Great news, im having trouble with my MHL HDMI cable working smoothly on jellybam, maybe there something in the code that can fix this.

I waited for months for the official Samsung ICS update only to find nothing much had changed in their ROM. Since then I have been on custom ROMs getting the true Android experience as Google intended it to be. Would definitely encourage people to root and flash custom ROMs (as long as they follow instructions and make backups). It's the way forward!

We are not getting official jelly bean :'(

Jelly Bean has already been confirmed months ago for our device.
We just didn't have an estimated date yet, now we do.
Whoever was talking with you on the other end of the phone has been living on a cave for the past 4 months.

galaxy s2 is more moddable than s3?

dorimanx ported the 3.1 kernel to s2 while for s3 kernel is stuck at 3.0.x, and s2 has many more roms updated than s3, do you think that s2 will live also for android 5 and next kernel releases like 3.4 or 3.6?

most of the patches submitted in linux kernel are for servers and desktops
but if we get support from samsung the s2 can be the next hd2 a device that refuses to die

Guys Galaxy NOTE 1st generation and 2nd generation both have the multiwindow function. In the latest release Samsung even made it available for the Galaxy S3. Its time someone develops the same or ports it for the users of the Galaxy Tab 2!!

I guess so.
coz all the GUI is taken care by the GPU.
and making it to do multiwindow will increase stress on it.
even adreno 205 scores better than SGX540.
may be we need to overclock our gpu for a decent performance.

It can only work on samsung touchwiz ui framework, our graphic card surely isn't the problem,
i understand its a bit complicated programming it but we need consistent developer support

I want this too. Realy weird a 7'' 10.1'' not having multi-window

Samsung may include a premium update with these features along or after the 4.1.2 or 4.2.x update. I'm waiting for the similar update on the s3 mini, but knowing Samsung this will take a while with the release of s4.
A large part of these "premium" features that the s2 got along with the 4.1.2 update could work on other Samsung devices like smart stay or smart rotate that are very useful on a tablet that can be used for reading ebooks. All we can do for now is wait.

I did not test the 4.1.2 there is only one release fit India on samfirmware. As far as i know there are no new features, but i read that the overall speed and snappiness of the ui and browser loading speeds are increased.

I Installed 4.1.2 today and for me:
-GroupCast App;
-PaperArtist App;
-SmartStay;
-New Gallery App (same as the GNote II one);
-PopUp Play;
-browser is faster and smoother then before...
