WinCE 6.0 R2

Hi, All--
I'm relatively new here, but I have been playing with my XV6700 for a couple of months now, installing WM6 onto it using Helmi_c's ROM kitchen.
It seems widely publicized that WM6 is built on WinCE 5.2.x.x, and from what I have been able to gather, WM7 apparently will be built on WinCE 6.0.
What I am wondering is--can a ROM image be updated using the WinCE 6.0 R2 bits?
The bits are freely available for download from Microsoft--I've downloaded them myself, and am planning on trying to put together a bootable image and explore a little bit (pun intended).
So . . . would it be possible to use the WinCE 6.0/WinCE 6.0 R2 bits for a basis for building a ROM that could be flashed onto one of our devices, as opposed to the WinCE 5.2.x.x bits?
Bumping to the top . . . surely SOMEBODY out there has thought about this?
Not sure if you can do that, maybe change in binaries/libraries that we're not aware of. If Win CE6.0 supports upto 256K colours then all apps etc.. would be coded in 18bpp while Win 5.0 is 16bpp resulting in incompatibility I guess, not sure though.
A small titbit of info though there is one phone on the market running WinCE6.0, the Neonode N2. Hope it helps in some way

Create custom ROMs for Windows Mobile Emulator

Hi Guys,
just in case someone is interested. There is a way compiling custom ROMs for the Windows Mobile Emulator. So you can test your apps on your environment. Its like cooking ROMs for your mobile. Except the fact you can't brick the Emulator (haven't tried that, YET.)
Made a little ROM Kitchen for that.

Most stable and bug free WM 6.1 rom?

Do we really need the new features in the next subsubsubversion of windows mobile? Wouldn't it be better to focus on elliminating all bugs in one rom?
Could anyone reccomend the most stable, fastest WM 6.1 ROM? I would like it to have office, mms and everything that would normally come in a ROM included, but I believe these can be installed later?
Thanks,

Its really important for you to read the forums - these are the guidelines for installing your rom and recommendations therein. You need to decide for yourself - they are all good. Do a bit of reading and make your decision under the BA Mobile 6 ROM posts.
Cheers,
Alistair.

What kind of ROM is everyone using?

Hi Guys,
I was wondering what kind of ROM is everyone using. I was trying to install some apps and themes but they didn't seem to work with the stock ROM that came with my HTC diamond. Do you guys have any recommendations on which kind of ROM is best? I'd really appreciate it. Thanks
what apps did you try to install? are there any error-messages?
maybe these apps just need the .net 3.5 compact framework, and you only got 2.0 ? then just installing .net 3.5 might help
peronaly i use Gen.Y D2 R3 rom with 6.1 wm.
i just installed it 2 weeks ago to replace my original rom and i have to say its very stable and as lite as possible.
give it a try

Enlightment

http://www.enlightenment.org/p.php?p=about&l=en
After reading this i thought it is possible to bring this to our omap 850 devices so i just want see ur views
you can use e17 booting angstrom + illume thanks to wing linux project
but there aren't angstrom image ready to load you must compile...
As gp.triple pointed out, it should be possible to do. As Wing Linux uses Angstrom+Android so Angstrom+E17 shouldn't be a problem.
And pitillo on #wing-linux mentioned a couple of days ago that he was trying to build it for elf (aka Touch, another Omap850 device). If he succeded in making one, it should run as is on our devices.
Personally, I prefer having a Kernel that supports all Opal features before worrying about builds and packages. And sadely, I'm not having lots of success there
Anyway, check the link in my sig if you want to know more about Wing Linux.
