Anyone out there have Canadian baseband files for the Rogers Flipout or a Rogers .sbf (if it exists) so I can pull the files myself? I've looked high and low and can't find these. Pretty sure I need one of these two to get around a problem getting 2G data to work on my Flipout with Latin-america ROM. 3G works, but 2G doesn't and I just switched to a 2G-only carrier. :/

Okay here is my situation. I have a Bell Canda S8500M phone that I flashed with S8500XXKF2_Full_SHP_sYCO firmware but now lost my UMTS 850/1900 bands so no more 3g signal =( I only get edge. I looked all over the web and can not find the S8500M bell canada firmware anywhere!! I found the Latin America firmware S8500L S8500LUHJL1 that i flashed and got my 3G back but Kies wont let me log on to Canada Samsung appstore anymore.
1)Is there a way to flash my phone with a European firmware while maintaining my UMTS 850/1900 bands from my now S8500L?
2) Does anyone have the original Canada s8500M firmwares??
3) Can I flash part of another Euro S8500XX firmware but keep my 3G bands?
4) devs can you implement a North South America 3G friendly hybrid firmware?
Any help or suggestions will be highly appreciated.
1)you can use the European firmware and get 3G signal too by flashing the whole European firmware except amss.bin (contains modem config) use the one from S8500LUHJL1
2) Don't know where to find those
3) if you mean by the bands 3G then it is same question as 1 with same answer
4) i am not a developer so i don't know if they can
Best Regards
Thanks for your response I will give it a shot and see if it works to flash the Euro firmware without the amss.bin.

I flashed the modified S8500DDJI2 on my phone without the amss.bin file and it worked! I still have my 3G connection and hacked firmware!! =) thanks a million!
Has anyone had success doing the above (keeping the amss.bin file to retain phone's frequency band) while flashing with a Bada 1.2 firmware?
I too want to keep my phone (8500T) 850/900/1900/2100 compatibility.
I have tried flashing S8500XXJID (Euro 1.2) while maintaining my S8500L amss.bin on my Canada Bell S8500M and no luck. No go on the 3G on 1.2 BADA for 8500mhz/1900mhz devices. Maybe a DEV can help implement this in a Hybrid 1.2 firmware with those bands supported.
If I understand correctly - the Bravo has access to 850/1900MHz for UMTS but Tmobile uses 1700/2100MHz. Does that mean no 3g on T-Mobile for the Bravo?
If you use the defy baseband tool, the settings for T-Mobile are 850/1700/2100 so 3g shouldn't be an issue. I've always had success with the 1st choice (3.4.2-107-4) with at&t. Assuming you're American, one of the three us T-Mobile settings should work. If not you could try copying the baseband from the defy T-Mobile port. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1230251 The rom rip is advanced and not recommended if you don't know how to fix a "mess up". I'll post a tutorial if defy baseband doesn't work for you.

It does not work with T-Mobile's 3G, Bravo frequencies are 850/1900 mhz while T-mobile uses 900/1700/2100 mhz.
Bravo hardware allows only these frequencies.
Baseband switcher cant manage that!
Didn't know that. Never looked up the frequencies. I've only had 2 connection problems, and baseband fixed it. Except for the latest two cm9 nightlies. Haven't tried to fix since it's on multiboot and cm7.2 works great. Saw the thread in Dev and will post back here if I find something since I haven't reached 10 posts yet.
I am in the USA using the T-Mobile network.
I tried the defy basebands on my quarx/cm7 bravo. Out of all of the basebands I tried the radio would not establish a connection. No 1G, 2G nor 3G connections were possible with these defy T-Mobile basebands.
Luckily I backed up the /system/etc/motorola directory and restored over the changes that the defy baseband changer loaded. I have 2G back in action after the restore.
I cant seem to find a working sbf for the US. When I flash the UK I get a black screen, when I flash personal Argentina I get everything but I have no service. Can someone help me please? My network is the same as att. the Argentina says that the network is not supported.
Well, you may be out of luck as of now. If your baseband is not same as Personal Argentina (or similar LatAm ROMs) for which there is no root, you can't use baseband switcher and may just have to wait until those ROMs get a root option.
So there is no way back to my original sbf?

No, at least not yet... You can't root nor apply other sbf, you're stuck with it until someone finds a way to change it.
Is it not possible to root through sbf files? I cant believe I spent all this money and now I have a paper weight.

It's not possible... You can look at the discussion about Vivo BR and Personal AR In This Thread, although there's no solution yet.
OK, so will having another country's sbf make you now be able to use the phone? I get "Mobile Network not available".

What's your carrier?
Brazil uses 850/900/1800 bands for GSM and 850/2100 bands for 3G.
Argentina uses the 850/1900, the same band AT&T uses.
I've been in the US and used my milestone 2 in AT&T network without any problem. It won't work in T Mobile, since it uses 1700/2100.
Try with an AT&T (or one MVNO which uses their network, like H2O Wireless) sim card to see if works.
Maybe you could try using Vivo BR sbf. Our phones in Brazil are all carrier unlocked nowadays.
HTH
I'm using Straight Talk which is on the ATT network. I have not been able to get the phone working no matter what I try. I have checked the settings over and over.
Hey there,
I know both phones are exactly the same and that Videotron's D801 phone is indeed a mislabeled D803 and that it's compatible with almost everything from D803.
But I saw someone who flashed a Telus D803 on his Wind D801 phone and got problem with it.( See here, Post 23 )
My goal is mainly to see if LTE should work without problem and faster than the speeds I'm actually getting(that are more of a HSPA+ 42Mbps network) and also to see what are the build.prop values in this Bell's official firmware!
What should I do to proceed without problem and to make sure I can go back if something's going wrong? The guy in that thread seems to be knowing enough about flashing and it seems like he wasn't able to do anything else than bringing it to repair for them to flash it back to stock?
And about the regional code he's talking about, is it something in the build.prop thing? How do I do
In the ROM(CloudyG3) I'm currently using, build.prop network things are currently as follow:
ro.product.name=g3_global_com
ro.build.target_operator=GLOBAL
ro.build.target_country=COM
I'm guessing I should put it to the following or maybe something isn't good? I don't even know how to backup build.prop!:
ro.product.name=g2_vmc_ca
ro.build.target_operator=VMC
ro.build.target_country=CA
I'm using Virgin Mobile(Bell network)
I am having signal issues with the n9100 (china mobile). Currently I am in Canada on Rogers network. I have rooted the phone and currently using a custom Rom (Aurora). The firmware is on 5.1.1 and baseband is on the latest. I do get 4G signal but it gets weak when I am inside my house and usually is in Edge mode. The signal was decent when I was in China. I am sure its a modem issue, but is it possible to install a rogers modem onto this without bricking (probably lose dual sim but thats ok)? If not, is there a fix? Can I force my phone to use a certain frequency/band that Rogers uses and see if that helps?
