2ndinit defy plus bl6 - Defy Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hello xda members
i have defy+(bl6) and i m confused about 2ndinit. previously i installed v2.0 and then installed cm9(16/7). there if i try to change vsel and clock speed i got bootloops. then i installed cm10 and i never got bootloops(re-selecting 2ndinit as default in boot fixed the problem).
Again due to instability of proximity sensor, some lag and weak wifi i decided to revert back to stock rom. So flashed .sbf and rooted, thought i would stick to that rom but i was already infected with the loos, ease of use, ui, and all other amazing things. So again decided to install custom rom, but this time i installed 2ndinit v2.3 and installed cm9. At first it was really nice but after 2-3 days usage i felt UI lags so thought reboot would fix it but it was stuck in bootloop (re-selecting 2ndinit as default in boot fixed the problem). Now every time i reboot my phone i end up in bootloop and selecting 2ndinit fixes it. Also if i reboot phone within say 10sec after a reboot, the reboot would take loooong time.
so i want to ask that if 2ndinit is related to this problem
which version of 2ndinit u guys are using on your bl6 defy+

You are suppose to ask This question in General forum..

Ok BTW,
2nd init is nothing to do with any custom Rom it just installs Bootmenu on your phone

[Q] CM7

Just installed "CyanogenMod-7 for ZTE Blade (Orange San Francisco) :: V7.0.0-RC4 (30/03/2011)"
Firstly, many thanks for making this great rom. Instructions very easy to follow, even I could do it (my first smart phone, only had it 5 days so yes, it’s all very new to me).
Anyway, can someone please help me? On my old Orange rom, when sending a text (which is what I do a lot of) my “send to many logo” is missing from the CM7 rom (see pics). How can I get this back? It's driving me nut!
Try Another SMS App Like GOSMS or Handcent SMS
Rebooting and Battery usage
My zte with CM7 seems to use alot more battery than the original ROM i had. anyone else?
It will also reboot when the battery is lower than 30%. anybody know why?
The current CM7 rom is faulty, don't flash it....i'm also waiting for a more stable one. This rom is not so reactive to accelerometer so if you play games such as doodlejump, it won't work so don't flash the rom, instead you can flash this froyo, it's quite fast as well ! FLB froyo R11
Gen2
Hi All
Just flashed my Blade to Gen 2 yesterday and installed CM7 Gen2 .
On previous CM7 Final Gen 1, I had reboots and freezing on boot screen but
have had no issues since the new installation. Plays games very well.

Edit: Just upgraded CM7 to 7.0.2 and on reboot phone was stuck on boot screen and had no arrow
to swipe nor would menu button work other than to put phone in standby. Had to uses stock recovery to get cm7 to load and now
cannot get beyond the the Droid screen when trying to restore/backup. Will not enter clockwork recovery no matter what I try.
Can load CM7 basic but no google apps and unable to load gapps because I cannot enter clockwork recovery. Can any suggest a way out.
Use rom manager to install the latest clockwork mod
Sent from my Blade using XDA Premium App
So what's best for now: staying Gen 1 with CM7 v7.0.0 or turning into Gen2 and get v7.0.2 ?

HI
Thanks for the reply but I have tried to download the latest ClockworkMod via Rom Manager and the same thing happens it tries to update and then freezes
on the droid screen. I can't get to the market as I cannot load gapps because
of the lack of ClockworkMod recovery. Catch 22 time. Any other suggestions greatly received.

Hi HCDR.Jacob
Me again. Have just found out why I cannot load ClockworkMod Recovery or any other recovery. Ran Androot 1.6 andgot reply, when I tried to unroot - Not Rooted.
So I ran Androot and got the following "Rooted - No - Fu - Goo". Yet Balde is running CM7 . Question is now how do I root the blooming thing or is that a no go?
Please advise.

Edit: Have found possible fault is corrupt firmware. I s there any way to flash the firmware on the Blade to original state and if so how?
Google for no fu goo m8, it's a very common response and can sometimes be solved.

Hi
Thanks for that but info garnered no where near to solving prob. Managed to find z4Root and ran that and it informs me I am still rooted. Problem is that I cannot access ClockworkMod Recovery and rom manager is stuck on 3.0.2.0 and will not upgrade to 4.2.0.0 which is the latest as far as I can ascertain. Do you know of any way to get ClockworkMod back onto my Blade so that I cam upgrade CM to 7.0.2 and get google apps back.

I just upgraded my ZTE Blade to 7.0.2 using the latest Rom Manager (from 7 RC3) ... now my Blade just keeps booting only showing the Droid Logo for about 4 secs and that loops forever. I wasn't aware of any Gen1 vs. Gen2 thing. And am still not sure what this exactly is.
Is there anyway to fix this, or is the device bricked?
Any ideas? Any help is VERY MUCH appreciated!
Thx.

Just gave you a possible tweak on your thread but please don't just splash your problem onto the other threads, as this is most likely to create confusion. If somebody can help you, he will answer you in the right thread: the one you opened.
Also a first look at similar topic or a quick search would have avoided this kind of situation. Even the first guide for flashing a custom ROM on the OSF clearly states a warning on the Gen1/Gen2 thing...

I wouldn't have cross-posted if the topic wasn't CM7. Maybe it stops someone to make the same mistake -> see below.

Didn't know about the site and wasn't aware of the Gen1/Gen2 issue.
I wanted to show a friend (iPhone owner) how easy it is to update the firmware using ROM Manager over a beer and simple downloaded CM7.0.2 using ROM Manager, not being aware of any Gen1/Gen2 issues...
well EPIC FAIL!
So, thx for the url and won't be crossposting again.

Can't imagine your friend's face facing your endlessly rebooting phone. Indeed pretty epic
I tried cm7 had gps reboots and then when clicked settings got black screen
I've installed this ROM (CM7.02Nightly57 + CWM 3.0.2.7) yesterday, but having some troubles:
- the battery is duying very fast
- the pulldown menu can not be pulled up easy in normal mode. When in landcape it works nice, but when in portrait, it is stuck in the bottom, and you can pull it up after several times, or have to press back button
anyone has issues like this?

Autonomy issues have already been widely reported for 7.0.2, most people I have read from went back on CM7.0 stable because of that.
For the menu, this might be a new issue. Perhaps check on CM7 forum to see if it has been reported yet and whether a fix has been found yet.

[Q] Problem with Defy Plus and CM7.

Hello everyone
So yesterday i flashed this CM7 build cm72-111212.1201-NIGHTLY-Defy+.zip and today i was going to take a picture just to find out that my camera force closes everytime i try to launch it.Any solutions for this?
I flashed it over stock 2.3.5 if that helps...
No one knows? I tried reflashing and that didnt work...When i try to run it i get camera(process com.android.camera) has stopped unexpectedly and force close button.BTW my battery stops charging at 88%,anyone knows whats up with that?
I suggest flashing a new CM7.2 Nightly build for defy+
from this great thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1458729 i found:
12-01-27 Epsylon7/Defy+:
cm72-120127.0846-NIGHTLY-Defy+ link: http://www.defy-cm.net/defy_plus-cm7-nightly/
and AL's posted Defy+ fixes for camera and battery etc http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=21875699&postcount=15069
I flashed this over a stock Defy+ 2.3.4 4.5.1-134_DFP-74
Thanks for your reply i always thought i had the latest one since it was the first on the list...well i gotta pay more attention to dates
EDIT:Everything works now,thanks again...
defy plus
Hey,
Even i have a defy plus with 2.3.4 rom...and kernel 2.6.36.9 ....planning to flash the latest defy plus nightly.....
I have rooted and installed 2ndinit and took a nandroid backup of my rom sucessfully.....so whats the next step??
Do i need to install anything else before installing the defy plus nightly??
And what are the features it enables??
Does it provide 720p video recording and playback??
Newbie here. please help.
Thanks.
if you installed 2ndinit and booted to CWM-recovery ... and you already have a nandroid backup of your device, you only have to install the zip from sdcard and you are ready to go (maybe you need to flash fixed-sbf with the kernel for cm7) ...
hi ganesh0992,
slstr above has given good links regarding flashing CM7.2 on defy plus. I am running the same build of CM7.2 cm72-120127.0846-NIGHTLY-Defy+. you should follow those instructions and don't forget to apply battery/camera fix.
720p capability is not supported in this ROM by default, you will need to apply a different patch, i don't know if one exists for CM but there is one for STOCK rom and another rom (mginger), google it. (CANT POST LINKS NEW USER!!)

problem in flashing a ROM of dell xcd35 (ZTE blade, Gen2)

I tried to upgrade my dell xcd35 (ZTE blade, Gen 2, froyo 2.2) to
jj_95nano's custom ROM. Now it does not go beyond the galaxy SII animation which suppose to be the custom ROM's starting animation. Neither i'm able to reset it to its original ROM which i backed up with CWM/ROM manager as no recovery screen appears.
What I did is,
1. Root it with z4root.
2. Took backup of current (original ROM) on SDcard
3. Download the custom ROM from http://db.tt/ZBUxXAmi as suggested by weeo on thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1602335
4. copied it to root of my SDcard
5. using ROM manager flashed it (after reboot).
6. Then original Dell animation followed by repeated Galaxy SII animation is displaying but not proceeding further.
7. Now I Can't even switch it off using power button.
8. I tried power+home, power+menu , power+home+vol+ , then vol- instead. almost all combinations to reboot in recovery mode. but it doesn't.
9. I can put it off by replacing battery only, however, I can put ON using power button.
Can anybody help me? This is my first experience of rooting any android (I'm afraid, at the cost of my new phone? ). plz help me.

Have u tried waiting? First boot can take up to 10 minutes. It could also be because u didn't wipe data and cache partitions
Alternatively u will have to install cwm via adb.
Yeah 2 ways to get out of this if it refuses to boot into the rom or recovery mode. Flash adb via recovery ( I wrote some instructions here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=24932544 ) or if adb can't be recognised since you cannot boot, use a tpt.
Sent from my Xoom using Tapatalk 2
Did your blade meet the minimum partition specs? It should work anyway though as its GEN2. Use adb.

Thankx QuantumFoam, you were right!
I didn't wait for enough time after boot.
Thanks matt4321 and karthiknr for your valuable comments which helped me deduce to the exact problem.
The problem was solved after reading 'debricking' in ModaCo forum.
I said i tried all the combination for fastboot, but power + volume down, and that was actually worked for cwm recovery. I've restored the original one.
I request, if possible, plz suggest me a good 2.3.x ROM for my dell xcd35(ZTE blade,Gen2).
hurray..i've made it (though restoring) with ur help !
If you want customization go for CyanogenMod 7.1 or a KANG of some sort. For pure stability and decent battery life (with some tweaks) go for Swedish Snow RLS7 which is what I'm running, I love it. CM7 is 2.3.7 and Swedish Snow is 2.3.5
Sent from my ZTE-BLADE using Tapatalk 2
The best is definitely cyanogenmod. Lots of customization ,Theme support, inbuilt equalizer etc.
However if u want an ICS look there's an IceCreamBread rom that combines gingerbread stability with ICS framework
Which one is better....... Cm 7. 2.3.7 or swedish snow rls7 2.3.5 for dell xcd35

[Q] unable to install MIUI

Hello friends,
I have installed custom ROMs many times before... I have tried MIUI, cyanogenmod 9, etc...
But, before few days my phone had stuck at the boot logo, so I flashed it using the SBF- JRDNEM_U3_3.4.3-36-1.7
my phone is Motorola Defy (green lense) MB525...
Now, when I am trying to install MIUI or WIUI , it is showing installation complete,
but, after rebooting the system it is booting in my Normal FROYO only...
How can I install MIUI on my phone again now????
What the.. unbelievable.. Ok then try a newer 2ndinit apk and check the installation zip files. Is the problem limited to miui or does it happen with ANY ROM?

Actually, this time I was using "tenfar recovery" on my friends suggestion... I think there was some problem with that...
Now, after flashing my defy I installed the newer version of "2nd init recovery"...
And MIUI is running well on my defy now...

[Q] Need better rom and help with supercharging. required in room - 720p, stable.

right now i'm using the quarx nightly for my defy+. my problem with it is that it doesnt seem to be very stable. lots of errors that ask me if i want to wait or force stop, lots of launcher redraws (thats why i want the supercharger thing working). I was very excited to install JB/ICS and experiencing the holo UI, but i dont really need it. i actually miss Go launcher, and probably will use it with what ever ROM i decide to flash next.
some details - got latest quarx nighly, JB, on my MB526. find it somewhat buggy.

I wiped data, don't know what is the app data you're talking about, and as I didn't used the previous ROM in it's rooted era (it was rooted for mere minutes before I installed quarx), didn't have use for titanium backup at all.
About permissions, em, what permissions? of? what do I change about them? how? is there a ROM that comes with that to begin with? I used quarx for little more than 2 days, I really prefer just installing better ROM, if such thing exists (I get the impression quarx is quite popular).
Use CM7.2 maniac nightlys and install this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1990921.
Looks great and the rom is very fast and stable
Link for the Rom: https://github.com/maniac103/android_device_motorola_jordan-common/downloads
(Use cm-7-20121107-UNOFFICIAL-jordan-signed.zip for normal defy and jordan plus for defy +)
You should know how to flash a froyo sbf because downgrading from CM10 to CM7 is very buggy.
Because of the controversy and arguments they inevitably generate, "best ROM" threads are prohibited on XDA. Thread closed.
