I followed this guide:
http://www.tips4tab.com/how-to-restore-galaxy-note-10-1-wi-fi-n8010-with-n8010xxalgc-stock-firmware/
and although my tablet was reset to stock firmware, and CWM was replaced by the stock recovery, the firmware is a showcase version.
Basically, whenever I press the power button, the screen will go black for a second, and then some video about the features of the device will play and loop. Idling the device for a few seconds does the same thing.
Long pressing the power button doesn't make the "shut down/restart/mute sound" box appear, it just shuts down the device.
Some settings reset each reboot etc. etc.
This is obvious, the firmware in this guide is meant for showcase devices, and not for actual use. I'm going to look for stock firmwares.
EDIT:
Worth mentioning, the PAP firmware on the samsung-updates.com website is exactly the same as the showcase firmware I had, I've checked the MD5's.
I'm now going to try the DBT (Germany) version. Since my country, the Netherlands, is a neighbor of Germany, I figure it shouldn't cause too much trouble. I will keep you up to date.
Alright, the DBT version is NOT a showcase version. My tablet now works fine, but be careful NOT to flash the PAP version!!!
A good source for firmware files is sammobile.com. There is also the NLD version available:

You can download the latest N8010 stock ROM from here:

This ROM is official stock, not the retail version.

Today I got this firmware update P7500XWKH7 thru Kies. Now i can see that it contains some swedish programs preinstalled : Mama+, Your life+, Sydsvenskan+, Styleby+, TV4 play, Di+, DN+.
I bought my SGT in a Telia shop i Denmark, dont know if the software is carrier specific.
Is there a way to remove these programs, can't drag them to uninstall ...
Or is there a way to change the "Sales code" like on my I9100 Galaxy S2 *#272*imei* from the phone application.
Just want a clean Stock Rom not this ...
I'm just curious, what baseband version does this update have?

PDA:KHD / PHONE:KG1 / CSC:KI1 (NSE) is availiable thru Kies in Sweden now.
To remove the preinstalled apps you need root access.

When i bought my tab those apps where installed, but when i did a factory reset they disapered. But it is a bit strange that they came along with the update.
Try to do a factory reset, remember that all things will be wiped, even sdcard so do take a backup first.

Edit:
They do not disappear with factory reset. You have to root and delete the apk's from system/app.
Or as mentioned install a stock rom from the development section.
It seems to be the same KH7 that was leaked a few weeks ago. If you want it without those apps, then check out development forum. I've been using it for about two weeks and it seems to work great.
im now on XXKI1 from dev forum, this is running smooth and without theese aps pre installed
had to update using odin, but this is okay ... wasn't any big fan of Kies.

I'm in the UK. I keep reading about updates for the galaxy note and a little confused, sorry.
Can somebody tell me if there is an samsung stock update for this phone.
I connect to kies and I'm told that it is not recognised by kies for a update via kies.
Ota just fires back no updates available.
My current software is still at android 2.3.5 baseband version n7000xxkj4.
Thanks.

Just to say that this worked for me too on a UK Handtec Note (polish) that shipped with the CSC set to KOR.
XEU, XEO did not allow the downloaded update to be applied and it refused to update via kies 'not supported' message.
CSC Set to DBT still did not allow OTA update, but finally the ruddy thing did update through Kies.
For anyone not getting updates (2.3.6, LA4 etc) on their Note, **check the CSC** if it is set to KOR, you will never ever ever get updates for your Note including ICS when it eventually ships.
You can check the CSC easily. Connect the phone to Kies, and the country code (KOR,XEU,DBT etc) is in brackets at the end of the 'Current Firmware Version' line under 'Firmware Information' in Kies.
This whole setup is ridiculous, I have had a moan at Handtec, since they have shipped devices that for any non geeky user (the 99% of folks out there) will never get the latest firmware, and will be forever stuck on Gingerbread.

I also have not gotten update for this reason. Could you please explain how you changed the code from KOR to XEU I can't seem to find how. I have a stock unrooted phone from handtec.
Well I found it!!!
How to change CSC
1. Just type *#272*Device IMEI# at Phone dial pad.
2. Select the CSC that you want.
3. Click Install.
4. Phone will be rebooted by itself.
5. That’s all.
You need to chose XEU for europe/UK
Note: This will wipe all your data so back up first
Make sure to type# after you put in the *#272*imie.

Well I thought it worked but not completely. I did get the phone to show up as a XEU insted of KOR but when the phone started the firmware update it stiops about halfway and gives me this error message "try using PC software (Kies) or visit a Samsung service center" Tried Kies still says no firmware update available. Can anyone help with this? Thank's
ICS 4.0.4 for Tab 7.7 + 3G CSC ATO (237,07 MB) should be out now:
http://www.android-hilfe.de/samsung...ics-fuer-die-tabs-7-7-7-0-plus-fakten-15.html
I am not able to check this.
There are current no new FW updates on sammobile.com

What I wish is to get the CWM friendly version ASAP and flashed on my rooted gTab 7.7...
Confirm Update OTA!

Well Well, finally some good news. I've been reading the german pages, as I speak german. Some have downloaded the update but I haven't read a single success story.
1 guy has an empty battery and the other downloaded 259MB and cannot install it,
he got to recovery but nothing happened.
I'd say don't install the OTA but have patience till the DEVS have
a : tooted the ICS kernel
b - Have had some time to tweak stuff
But at least its official now
Found a Software update in samfirmware. but not sure if P6800OXALQ1 is it ICS...
Yep it's been posted on sammobile.

Here is the sammobile statement. ICS is available on Kies and Samfirmware site

Also, the download is 579MB which makes more sense.

Finally! Doing a backup in anticipation
more Sense... pun intended ?
Anyway, i guess that installing the Austrian Version wont hurt me,
as I live in the Netherlands. The update is stated to work for England, Belgium, Germany, Austria.. so why not the Netherlands right ?
How do you flash an original firmware that one has downloaded? Just use Mobile ODIN ?
the current firmware doesn't state if it's for Wifi Only or Wifi/3G models correct? Also i am in Hong Kong, do you think we're able to flash it?
Can't wait! BYE BYE HC!!!!
Damn, Samsung update server is so slow, still downloading at 32%... and i have to get to work in 25 minutes.
The firmware is for the p6800 (wifi+3g) version
finally!
waiting for flashable, rooted version ... hope some dev could provide it asap!
i think the next few days, I will keep on refreshing this page for the ODIN or CWM flashing version... Hahaha...
Seems that it is only available for the 3g model at the moment
But that's still good news as a WIFI version will be coming soon. Can't wait for my 7.7 to finally be useable!
Damn no wifi version yet, I hope it comes sooner rather than later :/
Could someone post a torrent file with ICS?

I updated to the german firmware using the odin method described in another thread and it worked great, didnt trip the counter or change the device status. Data and apps were intact. all and all I dont see any reason to not do it.
if you want the canadian release then you can simply install it over top the german one once it becomes available but I doubt that there will be much difference.
You might have to WIPE tho, since the German and Canadian ROMs have different CSCs.
Someone please confirm.

Using ROM's meant for other regions isn't an issue and a good way to get the lastest fixes and updated versions of s/w like S Note. The only reason folks in the U.S. had challenges was because they were using ROMs (N8010) not meant for their h/w (N8013). There's a N8010 4.1.2 ROM that just came out. You should be able to use it with no issues. When the Canadian JB ROM is released just install it (via Odin) over the German ROM and you'll be back to where you would have been anyway while being able to use JB in the mean time.
Here's the newest 4.1.2 N8010 JB ROM...
http://hotfile.com/dl/190513084/ece...GT-N8010-DBT-N8010XXUCMA5-1357980235.zip.html
Here's how to install it using Odin...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2048213
Another thing Canadian users should be aware before updating is that, there is NO Official 4.0.4 Stock ROM to fall back to. So if you ever need to send the unit back to the shop (before a Canadian ROM arrives online), you're SOL.
This is on top of whatever issues flashing a ROM with a different CSC might cause.
I have the German rom on my Canadian note as far as I can tell there are absolutely 0 issues with having a different CSC. Although it's true that there is no official 4.04 I'm not very convinced that would be a problem in the event of a return I doubt any of the retailers in Canada would know enough to even check what firmware you have installed.
I can confirm that you do not have to wipe data your system status remains official.
Frankly I'm not even sure that installing an official rom would void the warranty even if it is from another region assuming of course you are installing an 8010 ROM on an 8010 device

No. The only file that's being updated via Odin is the PDA/MD5 file which doesn't affect user settings, apps, or what's stored on the device. Occasionally you'll see a widget break or disappear off the home screen because it’s been superseded by one with newer functionality. That's the only casualty I've experienced in bouncing between ROMs from different regions. You'll also see regionally specific things pop-up. The Italian N8000 ROM had a pasta eating game pre-installed on it. Some things don't work because of regional exclusions like the EU Video Hub knows when it's being used on a non-EU device. Those you can just disable in Application Manager.

My USA 12.2 is rooted / knox tripped so the OTA update fails. Just use the "Cellular South" 5.0.2 file for SM-P900 from sammobile and odin for upgrade if your knox is tripped.

However, COH2 size is 2,322,361, while COF4 is 2,339,711.
Both report corrupt archive when extracting with WinRAR, but no corruption error is reported with 7-ZIP.
Odin Flash fails for both firmwares. What could be the issue here? Surely it has nothing to do with the region?
