Greetings.
So here is my story.
After buying my wonderful device the first thing what ive done is of course...FLASHING!
Sequence of flashing with full wipe:
- Nexus 7.7. Laggy, buggy, bad UI. Didnt like it at all. -15-18% battery per night/8 hours
- CyanogenMod 9. Laggy, bad UI. Didnt like it at all. -15-18% battery per night/8 hours
- Cyanogenmod 10. Laggy, bad UI. Didnt like it at all. -15-18% battery per night/8 hours
- Official LQ2. Laggy, bad UI. Didnt like it at all. -15-20% battery per night/8 hours
My main problem was night battery drain. -15-20% per night in airplane mode, with everything turned off an no acive background appcliacations is absolute unreal nightmare beyond my understanding.
Ok, here we go. Hello cpu spy, hello batter battery stats and 2 days of experiments. And guess what? There was no deep sleep mode EVER on EVERY ROM i tried! Problem is boot_hsic in wakelock kernel prevented my device from deep sleep mode and because of it my tablet was [email protected] all the time.
Here is solution. Official Austria LQ1 ROM. After flashing using Odin, installing cpu spy and turning screen off...."OH MY GOD! DEEP SLEEP!
Its gonna be ok now! Going to sleep!"
Next morning battery drain was 0.5%. Yes, i repeat - HALF PERCENT PER 10 HOURS! Of course wi fi turned off and no background applications.
Then rooting with Root_SuperSU.0.95.Only-signed.zip using CWM and now im at last totally happy
BTW this ROM is smoothest, fastest and absolutely lag free.
P.S. Its my personal experience, but i hope it will help. Cheers.
There is no actual development in this thread so I have moved it to General. Thanks.
Singha ROM Version 1.1.0 + Dedraks' GT-P6800 Kernel v10 = great & speedy UI, deep sleep, no batt drain.
Latest asian rom... As i'm really busy today... Its standby all the time...

Im sure this is VERY useful thread especially with screenshots of ROMs with deep sleep mode. Because it was torture for me trying to find out reason of battery drain.
Thanks guys.
Check for wakelocks and the standard battery status. You have some application misbehaving.
Yes, try to find out which app is fubar instead - I've had no problem with deep sleep in any ROM I've tried so far.

sorry had to do it
After 24 of stanby or deep sleep battery drain is 2%. And i feel good now
I run Tweaked Stock ICS with Pimp my rom tweaks and with Wifi running all day (connected to my 4G router) it has taken less than 1% per hour when not beeing used.
Indeed, I'm suffering with this constant drain of battery. Using the latest Singha Light ROM or any else, it is the same pain.
Using CPU Spy, I've noticed that CPU runs at 200mhz for 14 hours and a little deep sleep time. In other words, no deep sleep at all.
But I know what is draining battery off in my case: When I disable Wi-Fi MANUALLY, my P6800 can finally deep sleep. In other case, even with the Wi-Fi Policy set as "Never" keep it on while sleeping, the battery keeps draining. Probably because the tablet is not handling well the Wi-Fi, by auto.
Using SetCPU affects deep sleep? I guess not, imo. But I need some confirmation!
I appreciate your help!
same with you

Yeah man, this annoys me so much! When I forget Wi-fi ON, I lose around 20% battery at next morning... this issue didn't happen when I was using Honeycomb (although I don't remember this occuring). I will try Brazil firmware (since I'm brazilian :laugh and I reply with my own results afterwards. Or I will try the mentioned firmware in the first post!

This can be normal, depending on which Apps you have running, especially Apps that use some sort of syncing.

Had the same problem, look at the System Settings =>about phone => status => Battery status
Whats your status there? Normal is Discharging. Bad is Not Charging.
Not Charging means, that you have a defect in your USB Port.
Mine takes 8+ hours to lose 1% when phone is asleep
me too take 8 hours or more for 1% battery in standby mode.. test it last night already
How to make this performance?

I had this problem a very long time ago, it sorted it self out. But I use launcher pro and no widgets, have a live wallpaper and magiclocker. I don't use battery savers and my phone can last for two days with calls, sms, and browsing. Also wifi and gps are always on.
Just give it some time, I think the phone needs to calibrate, also in have auto brightness off and set to around 25 %.
I'm on kf3 if that helps to, goodluck

it has sleep mode? 250 mhz.all tasks killed. that is good battery 1230 mAh.
just saying, dont hate.

Hey keung, did you get any better battery life? I'm experiencing the same issue when wifi is on. At night, if I turn it off, I can get about 1% 1,5% loss per hour, but when wifi is on it's about -1% per 15/30 minutes without any active usage.
I'm thinking it might have to do with the router... But I don't know what else to tweak on the router settings.
Guys this might be able to help, scroll down to the end of post 2 where it says "dirty guide for battery drain"

Thanks NoOne, but already tried most of the points there... and in any other thread about battery life. Not too much luck so far...
you defo have wakelocks mate
iam the same as everyone else about 1% every 8 -10 hours in deep sleep mode sometimes more
i do the following
#use titanium to freeze unwanted apps
#use auto starts to stop tasks starting at boot and other times
#use leo/checkrom v4 with siyah kernel
#use set cpu and set it to smartass v2
#use set cpu to make some profiles like screen off etc
#use set cpu to undervolt by about 50mv each cpu step
#turn off data when notusing it
#make sure apps like facebook only sync when i want them too
#make sure i go offline from facebook chat as it stays awake
#i dont use any widgets
#i use go launcher as my launcher
#pretty turn off all auto syncs like gmail and contacts etc i sync when i want to
of course you may not wan that sort of set up and you may wish to have data on all the time syncing all the time if so then expect more battery drain

Definately not normal. As people have said... hes wakelocked lol
looks like an iphone but powered by android baby!!!!
This is the solution
All,
I have tried a ton of modem/firmware combinations and I conclue that this has the greatest effect on batter life.
1 - I was on KK5 with KL1 modem then the KI3 modem then the KI4 modem and finally the KH3. Every KK5 and modem gave me terrible battery life. Not even making from 6 am to 7 pm! This is over several dyas of testing
2 - After experimenting with numerous combinations this the my current setup and I am getting a full days use 6 am to 10 pm and still have 40-50% left!
Now have been running this for a week and its verified. My data speeds are awesome (5-8 mb) and connections are rock solid. Here is the setup:
PDA - I9100XWKK2
PHONE: I9100XXKH3 (modem)
CSC: I9100XENJ1
get it here: http://www.multiupload.com/PBBE9HBXTS
modem file: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1253665&page=7 (post # 68)
Thry this setup you will be very happy. If it helps a thanks would be appreciated.

Just thought I'd give a quick review of Cyanogen Mod 7 battery life and performance.
Standby battery drain of about 1.5%/hr with 3G, backround data on, auto-sync on, wifi on, GPS on.
I've never obtained such great battery life on any stock rom or stock-modified rom (I've tried a few different ones over the last year or so)
The performance is also much better than any of the stock-based roms (no lags).
No need to create new topic for that information.
fan/zombie boys everywhere
aple has ones so why not android ;]
Which nightly are you using? Which kernel?
After a night my Galaxy S is always dead. I solved the problem disabling 3g connection and sync. Stock rom 2.3.3 and semaphore kernel.

Sorry to say but useless thread. Just keep the damn charger always near you and battery life wont matter.
Btw did cyanogen pay you for posting this?or........
haha I had the same thought
I used to always hear about CM7 having god-awful battery life. I don't know if people were lying or if they fixed some major bugs, but I certainly have no complaints about my phone's battery life (running CM7, of course). I get through way more than a day.

That's my current battery stats. Haven't used the phone too much the last little while, but getting over 24 hours is not uncommon—I actually very rarely see my phone last for under 24 hours, and that's usually because of 5+ hours of screen on time. For that battery, I'd say about 75 texts, 30 minutes of phone calls, and about 30-60 minutes of web browsing. Fairly light use, but nevertheless, the battery life on CM7 is nothing to complain about.
EDIT: Looks like something was causing a wakelock the last ~6-8 hours while I was asleep, causing my phone not to deep sleep. If that hadn't of happened, it would still have quite a bit more battery (when I went to bed it was 44%, so it shouldn't have dropped to 27%—it should have dropped to ~40%). This just proves my point even more: battery life on CM7 is not bad at all.
seriusly?
do you see any battery change in that period compared to one earlier ))
when it was awake on your funny screenshot it was discharging with the same when the phone was not awake acordding to that stats so no impact registered
Thanks to share that information...

This sounds fantastic, Cm7.1 is my next choice, on XXJVT battery life is only 12h
thats using juicedefender to activate the data connection when screen turns on, emails still push to phone straight away with gmail so it is fine for me.
WIFI seems to drain the battery a bit quicker but not enough for me to bother flashing different kernels
I saw someone who did 2 WEEKS without charging. Normal using with black wallpaper on 2g network.
seems to be even better on ics... the best i had was ~2% per 8 hours...
3G + WiFi + email max 1 day

Off the changer at about 7am then listen to music for awhile to drown out some boring teachers! then some games at lunch. A few texts here and there and calls for about 10 minutes. Its now 12:27 and I still have 67% battery!
I gotta put it on the charger before I go to bed so I can start fresh tomorrow.
Battery life varies GREATY with usage; a good indicator of usage would be your on-screen time.
What is your on-screen time?

I don't have my phone on me right now, so I'll post what I froze in a minute. Freezing apps stops them from using up RAM and CPU time. In turn that saves battery. It doesn't save as much as turning off the auto sync though.
my phone was 1 day and 15 hrs without a charger but this rom have bugs like home buttom not working screen close (need to be like old tv) etc etc....
I turned off auto sync and backup but my battery still drains pretty fast even when on 2G all the time.
I've frozen Maps and Talk but that doesn't seem to help.
I noticed that my phone awake time is high enough when the screen off although it can go to deep sleep normally.
I also noticed that Google Services has high % of battery use.
Any idea of what I'm doing wrong?
I'm sure that I have turned off auto sync.
But this Google Services still drains my battery.

There's an app on the market called titanium backup. You can "freeze" apps so they aren't running and don't show up anywhere. It stops them from running in the background.
I have an i9023, the GSM one.
Yes I've turned off almost all that my phone doesn't even deserve a title of smartphone.
Clean install of ROM is done already.

You have to freeze apps like Google + Google wallet ( stuff you never use) just make sure the system does not need it or you'll run into issues. Also use a task killer but disable auto kill and only kill when u need too.

Please make sure to include your screen on time, as that is the best indicator of light/heavy use.

I can't believe how good the battery has been so far, 84% after 13hours (over night)
I am a light user. still - that is impressive for stock. I never got close to that with my OG Epic on stock which was usually 3% per hour.

I wish I could get some stats like that. The screenshots are while I was sleeping and 7% seems like a lot of drain for it just sitting there. Only thing on was wifi. Cell standby time on is always the same as the time on battery, is that normal?
edit: the phone now shows 79% battery left with time on battery of 12h 46m; cell standby the exact same; screen on at 9% with time on of 48m. I'm fully stock and running power save mode.

No, they will carry over until you re-charge or change the battery.
I was going to make a thread like this, but it was already here! Here are my results after my second full charge and regular usage. The results are on par with my fully modified and decked out Epic. Of course, this device has a bigger battery, but it also has a larger screen. Between the hardware and software upgrades, I'm very impressed with the stock battery life. This includes wifi on at all times as well as signal w/data. Some motion features are enabled, nfc is not, and google sync is off (I use stock email). Now how much further can this be improved?? Remember not to be discouraged, Screen On times will vary depending on what the phone is used for. Showing pictures is much less battery intensive than watching YouTube videos.

What is involved in calibration?
My device has been completely stock running ART kitkat.
Battery life has been really bad the last few weeks. (Possibly due to 4.4.4?)
I have switched off location services, Google now, and only sync gmail.
I can only squeeze out around 2 hours and 30 minutes max compared to 4 hours 30 I was able to before. (Same settings, flight mode WiFi only)
Any one have any advice please? How can I monitor and see what's draining? I've tried a a few apps but I can't find anything.
Thank you.

None taken.
I may be a recognised contributor, however in the last 18 months I've lost my interest in mobile technology, and hence I have little knowledge on mobile tech today.
I consider myself a "normal user" now. I just use my phone as it is as a regular user completely stock and I don't know these tech things anymore.
Any help is appreciated, any other info I can give? I'm rather incline not to factory reset my phone.
App sucker screen if this helps?
So daily mail is the cause?
It is the usage that drains your battery life. If fact daily mail online doesnt drain so much. I dont know, how much and how often you use your phone and that is what really matters.
What really drains batterie (and most people dont know this) is waking up your device often. When you wake up your device all cores goes to max frequency before turning down slowly. By 4 cores it drains a lot of energy. The second is the screen brightness. The brighter the screen, the more it drains. An than there are many other factors like signal strength and quality, apps...
So to sum it up, it is your usage behavior that influence your battery life. To compare I am on cm11 with matr1x kernel, do alot of surfing, chatting, listening to music and the average screen on time is 4 hours. You may try it out.

Thanks mate, appreciated.
I forgot to post my brightness.
I usually have my phone on flight mode at home and WiFi signal a minimum of 3 bars. (Excuse the screenshot which is an exception)
I suppose with my phone I do always switch it on and off multiple times, however I haven't had this battery drainage problem in the past, it only occurred in the last few weeks and I have the same usage pattern. I suspect it was the 4.4.3/4.4.4 update because prior to that battery was fine.
Thanks for the suggestion of the ROM, however I'm planning to keep my device stock and I still haven't factory reseted it since day 1 (August 2013) and hope I do not need to.
Thanks all the same.
Open to more suggestions many thanks to everyone.
Install Greenify and hibernate Daily Mail Online. It's the one draining your battery I guess.
Greenify works without root, but if I remember correctly you need to hibernate apps manually.
