Preparation H will soothe your aching butt. Too many people are butt-hurt over the update not coming to fruition. Its really not funny when it has to be explained.

I'm sure this will just cause another argument resulting in a locked thread.

This was more humorous than the OP, maybe photoshop Samsung into the box...

Come on the op went for humor not straight complaining. Laugh don't laugh but it's actually the people who hate threads like this that fill them up. Is it so hard just to go on to the next thread. A person sees so many replies and they think it is of value. The flamers give these threads life. There should only be 1 post if this thread is pointless, 2 if the original post was confusing.

HTC and the Bootloader isssue

So right now were trying to make sure that the future of HTC's phones dont get knocked out because of the encrypted bootloader they are trying to force upon us so im just writing this to you all to make sure that the XDA members know whats going on and I was wondering if you all can help us out, these are the details:
right now i'm sure your aware of what is going on in HTC's facebook page and i wanted to know if you
would read up on what is going on and show that everyone is wanting this to be unlocked.
This first link is the petition that were all signing to show to HTC that we are wanting this:

We want more to know about it so i was reaching out to all of you right now.
this second link is the conversation that a member who started this had with a sprint rep on facebook, it shows that sprint is not the one responsible for the locked bootloader and that they are not trying to push for it.

we know that they made a statement but we want to make sure that they know that we all want this to be unlocked

Are you saying it isn't?! I don't know about owned, but I would say full of, yes. And I would say that includes many of the moderators. Don't get me wrong, it's the greatest thing in the world for anyone who uses these operating systems.

Search button, I've seen threads covering that subject too on xda. I find that searching Google and using xda as a keyword works very well.

Seriously, though, starting a thread with just a link and no commentary or opening salvo for a discussion is a tad weak. And I believe that, as has already been discussed, the unlock bootloader tool will only work on certain phones, and the EVO 4G is not one of them.
I don't particularly care, since I don't want to register my phone with HTC along with the fact that I've potentially voided my warranty. That can stay between me and my friends at XDA.
Finally, I will be curious to see how this Sense Developer gambit pays off. Are people really going to devote time to developing Sense-specific apps and widgets? I support that some developers worked on apps for the PlayBook too, so anything is possible.

Thanks for the lols. I did think to myself that the post was a bit lacking, but it's not hard to click the link. As you said, however, it's kind of pointless for the EVO4G right now, except maybe the Sense SDK might allow for some nifty things.
I wish HTC would make the source code page easier. Look it up by device or something. A huge list of random source code postings is fine when it's short like it is now, but it's only going to grow. Yea yea... CTRL-F is my friend...
