[Q] Installed wrong ROM in 8800pro - Huawei Ideos X5 U8800

Hello, I have a problem with my Huawei 8800PRO. I decided to upgrade to Gingerbread (I had the stock Froyo). I downloaded the official ROM from the huawai website, flashed it. Everything went smoothly, but WiFi does not work.
Only then I realized I did a terrible mistake: I flashed the wrong ROM, the Gingerbread update for the NORMAL 8800, instead of the PRO which I own. To be precise, I flashed U8800 V100R001C00B526G001 on a PRO terminal.
Now, I would like to fix my phone, that is install the correct, official Gingerbread update. I downloaded the correct ROM U8800Pro V100R001C00B521 Oversea Normal, and I did the standard procedure (copy the dload folder in the SD card, and reboot with volume + -). The update starts, but it stops at the beginning of phase 2 (after the unpacking phase), and says "update failed". The same happens with any other official ROM I have found on the huawei website.
The phone still turns on, and everything but the WiFi works, but I really want to fix it. I extensively read the forum. I believe that this is the same problem of this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1858192 but the fix which the guy proposes doesn't work for me, perhaps because my cellphone is not rooted.
I have tried different procedures, without success. A few notes:
1) The phone is NOT rooted, then I do not have write permissions on system folders
2) The pink screen appears correctly (when power+- are pushed and no dload folder is present on the SD), but when plugged to the PC via USB I can't see any mass storage device, I don't know why.
3) I have no idea how to root my 8800pro, the few attempts I did in this direction failed.
Can someone give me few, but detailed hints on how to fix my cellphone?
Thanks you in advance

First of all pull out battery and check the model of your phone.
If is U8800pro you did a wrong partitioning (because of wrong official from).
There is two methods(that I now).
-download B572 and install steps 1,2,3 (separetly via pink screen).
If appear problems (step2) then go the next alternative
-download ics B928 (look ice pika treat on this forum.)also download the unlock pink screen patch etc
The point of B928 is that could repare eMMc because step1 repartition your eMMc.

Whad do you mean for "separetly via pink screen"? Step 1 already fails!
Moreover pink screen does not work. It appears, but when I connect the usb plug, I can't see any storage unit on my PC. I believe that the drivers are installed, since I can use Huawei suite correctly (when the phone is turned on, of course)

-pull out battery
-write on sdcard only dload folder from step1
-put sdcard to phone
-connect USB to mobile and immediately press volume +,- and power button until update starts.if fail try keep button less.

Ok, step 1 and step 2 seems to be working with B572 and NO BATTERY. This is the only difference with my earlier attempts. One last question (provided step 2 goes well, which it seems to be the case): do I need also step 3? I heard it was needed only for chinese devices. What's step 3 about?

Some huawei apps and other stuff (buttons notification widget and so on if I'm not mistaken)

Step3 is for the market provider but not only.Just flash it .

Solved
Thanks, I solved it by doing the "standard update" with B572 (step1+2+3) WITHOUT the battery. This fixed it. Then I upgraded to official 4.0.3.

Hi people
could you please say me step by step the right procedure of repair bad ROM
i have flashed NORMAL ROM to U880PRO and the wifi dont go
i try the procedure from Gyankamp1 but in step 2 i have pink screen and i dont know what now with this situation.
plsease help :crying:

You must be more specific. What do you mean by 'normal rom'.

Gingerblur to Gingerbread

Ok i've searched the forums and am getting more and more confused. I have gingerblur 3.1 installed currently and would like to do the ATT ota update. Can I just download it and install from the system update? Or do I need to wipe the whole phone clean and start over? Thanks and sorry if this is a duplicate.
I am wondering this too...

I'm in the same boat, I got GingerBlur 4.5 installed and I would like to install the Gingerbread 4.5.19 OTA update. Are there proper instructions out there? I can't find any. I'm assuming I may have to go back to Stock 1.8.3 and do an OTA update. But can someone please confirm. Any instructions would help as well. Thanks
The directions I seem to need are...
Un gingerblur
Un root
As an aside, I got notified of the ota and it failed.

Make sure your battery is fully charged so that you don't run out of power during the upgrade process.
To install the upgrade:
Copy the file to the SD Card
Your phone is on the latest Android 2.2 software (Blur_Version.4.1.83.MB860.ATT.en.US)
From the home screen, press Menu, select Settings,
Scroll down and select About Phone.
Select System upgrades.
After a couple of minutes, your device will confirm the upgrade is available.
The Copy prompt will appear. Select “Copy”
The Install upgrade prompt will appear. Select Install Now.
Your device will power off and display installation progress.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
Please ensure you are aware of the following information after the installation of the package
It will then power up and stay on the carrier logo for up to 5 minutes before powering on to the home screen.
Please do not interrupt this process.
Contacts and email from Google and MOTOBLUR may take up to 60 minutes to synchronize. The phone may appear slower during this initial synchronization process
I am in the same boat as that guy with gingerblur 4.5 .
I don't have an sd card around me atm so would putting the file on the internal storage work or not?

same issue here
i tried to install the OTA update, it failed... tried to install it manually and it didn't work either. i tried to install it using android recovery and it didn't work.
Im using gingerblur 4.5
side note,
can any one of you please provide the full name of your system version? mine says "Version.4.1.83.MB860.ATT.en.US ", thing is, I tried to flash a stock sbf to roll back to motoblur, RSDlite fails every time with a message "sec_exception febe 35 35", my phone isn't recognized as 'NS Flash Olympus', it shows 'SE Flash Olympus'.
is there a thread to fix this issue?
thanks!
I figured out how to do it. First I unlocked the bootloader and then followed the directions on here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1163342
Worked fine
You need to flash back to stock, i.e. flash 4.1.26 or 4.1.57 or 4.1.83. OTA update to 4.1.83 if you are on an earlier version. The update will not work if you are modded in any way. You need to be on stock 4.1.83.
My god, how many times does this have to be said!!!
So let's just say that you are a moron (like me) and just did the OTA over Gingerblur 4.5 and now you have the exclamation point triangle and android on your screen and it does do anything... is it safe to battery pull? or did I just brick my phone?
EDIT: nevermind...
Is there any guide how to flash back?...

followed instructions to the letter from Motorola

4. Install "Remount" (Stephen Stericson) app by market
5. Run "Remount"

Revision 2.3 official release today, but while the official locked the kernel: the pink screen can not be replaced under the RECOVERY.
For the better part of successful people to upgrade, but some people experience the version 2.3 will encounter the same problem: unlimited card restart or shut down the second screen, you must double-clear before entering.
The solution is to replace the previous private RECOVERY after double clear, but now can not be replaced under the pink screen, while the previous ROOT tools must be set to open LOG after reboot once, to complete ROOT, but must be double-clear after the restart, thus causing infinite loop.
So I wrote U8800 night ROOT dedicated a key tool, simply turn USB debugging on and off quickly to turn it off R OOT.
Infinite second screen with my friends first ROOT, and then double-clear after the restart, re-entering the machine after the installation Root.Explorer, replaced again after the restart civil RECOVERY double clear. This future will not card.
Moreover, some machines need to upgrade the 2.3 data cable to connect phone and press three keys into the powder-screen to upgrade. Otherwise, only the powder into the screen does not respond.
Time to write so hasty, I have problems leave a message or add a table microblogging @ Columbia

hi friends I downgrade to B162 from internal storage it works for me then i had full acsess to the pink screen ccw recovery and restore my miui backup no more problems.
I think that is waste of time until the final version comes.

Who has updated to beta version 2 (B518) won't feel any diference beside cannot access to pinkk bootloader, i've been reading the chinese huawei forum, and the lock to the pink bootloader is to stay, all the future releases will block it, huawei says that's to low support costs, cause when costumers brick the phones had being messing around the files in /image folder and huawei has to change the motherboard of the phones, we have still access to the folder, using some apps like "root explorer", but for the "dumb client" that just want to make some calls and use youtube and gmail, that doesn't make any difference...

[HOW TO:]N8013 Users: Use Odin to Install the New U.S. 4.1.2 JB ROM [UPDATED: 16JAN]

This thread is no longer valid or necessary other than as a guide on how to use Odin. U.S. users that are bone stock should be able to apply the update via OTA or Kies. If anyone's having an issue they can install the U.S. JB ROM by using Odin to manually replace their current U.S. ROM with a completely new copy of the U.S. JB ROM.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Basically what you’re doing is replacing your current PDA (MD5) file with the U.S. 4.1.2 version that's just been released.
To install a ROM it's easiest to use desktop Odin. You can download Odin 1.85 here…
https://www.google.com/search?q=odin+1.85&sourceid=ie7&rls=com.microsoft:en-us:IE-Address&ie=&oe=
Make sure you’ve got Kies installed on your PC because it installs the Windows drivers necessary for Odin to see your device.
Download the full and complete U.S. 4.1.2 JB ROM here…
http://hotfile.com/dl/189276711/f83...GT-N8013-XAR-N8013UEUCMA3-1357740396.zip.html
Unzip the file you downloaded. After it's extracted you should see an MD5 file. That's what you're going to install. Right-click on the Odin EXE file you downloaded and run it as administrator.
Put your device in to “download mode” by turning it off and then restarting it by pressing the power and volume down buttons at the same time. You should see an “are you sure?” message from Samsung. Accept it and your device is now in download mode.
Connect your device to your PC via USB. If the connection’s successful it should look like this…
Next, click on the PDA button and locate the file you extracted and then click start...
You’ll see the update’s progress in the message box in Odin and via a progress bar on your device. When Odin signal’s it’s finished disconnect your device and it will finish installing the new files.
That's it. Your N8013 is now running a fresh install of 4.1.2.
These are the directions I followed - many thanks!!
So, it's confirmed that it won't affect the flash counter for sure? I'm thinking of using the All-Share Cast dongle in the future and it exhibits some strange behavior if the flash counter hasn't been reset...
Will this work on n8000?
Sent from my GT-N8000 using xda app-developers app
Yes it will work the same for all note models but you need to make sure have the firmware for that particular model.
No it will not change your count, you can install stock roms of any regions as many times you want it will not change the count.
Your count will change when you root it or install a custom rom you can easily reset the flash counter
It seemed so simple...followed instructions to the tee. I just got status 7 error. Failed when I tried to flash update.zip from external SD card. Now s note is fc every second. I might have to go return my tablet tomorrow any ideas or help? I am not new to flashing roms but I haven't ever seen this.
Flashing OTA is always tricky, think you were flashing a zip file I would not recomend it.
Also make sure the OTA is for the same version an region as your rom is otherwise it will give you errors
Did you download the N8010XXALI3 version or the N8010XXALGC version as there are two German versions in that list.
Not sure if that would make a difference.
No need to return, go back into recovery and clear the cache. Then reinstall the update. Boot into your tab, it might be a bit laggy at first but let it sit for about 5 minutes DON'T TOUCH IT. Reboot the tab and it should be fine. I had a similar issue, my tab is now flying along. For any fc you get, go into the app and clear all the stored data. IF it continues uninstall and reinstall. Remember, you are going from ICS to Jelly Bean, some apps act differently in Jelly Bean.
Riki
Just to be safe I assume I will be ok if I am rooted and dont have stock recovery. I will just have to reroot. Correct?
After you flash the German stock ICS with Odin you will get back the stock recovery.
When the official UK one comes out will it be easy to change to that if needed?
Yes. 2 options :
Get back to the stock ics for your region, and wait for samsung ota or
Download jb stock fw for your region from sammobile and flash with odin
Edit: assuming that you are from UK.
Mine seemed to take a few minutrs. After the progress bar on the tablet seemed to stop, I unplugged and held the power button down to reboot. Holding down the power button while holding volume up will eventually boot you into what is called recovery mode. You then select what you want to do by clicking vol up or down to select then push power button to proceed.
Let it finish... even if you have to wait 30 min
Well, I stopped the fc by clearing s note data. Thanks for the help. I'm still stuck on ics though. When I try to flash update.zip it fails to get build.prop sector 7 or something. One advice for you - read, read, read before you do anything. You seem to have misunderstood some facts. Read this - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1216982
I've put the link for retail asian Defy+ on another thread:laugh:, how many times do i have to tell you this?
Here are the steps for rooting-
1. Take a backup of all your apps and data.
2. Download Framaroot 1.6.0 from the thread (don't forget to thank the dev) and download 2ndinit - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1032212.
3. Copy both apk files to your sd card.
4. Enable USB debugging and unknown sources in settings-->applications.
5. Open file manager and install and open the app.
6. Root.
7. Then install the 2ndinit apk.
8. Reboot, and when the LED becomes blue, immediately press the volume down button.
9. Then a screen will appear. Now you can choose an option by pressing volume button and go up/down by pressing volume up/down.
10. Choose recovery, then choose stable/custom recovery (whichever is there).
11. Choose backup and then choose backup all.
12. Be patient while it does the job, DO NOT TAKE OUT THE BATTERY IF YOU THINK IT IS STUCK.
13. Then the options screen will come back.
14. Now you can install custom ROMs, PM me if you need more help.
Don't stress yourself so much. Grab a fixed sbf of quarx cm 10.2 or what custom sbf you like. That's simple for you
