Hey everyone, i'm a fresh member to the forums.
I got my nexus 7 yesterday and managed to root it and all that fun stuff with all the research i've done on this forum (you guys are amazing btw)
I have a question
When scrolling between home screens on my tablet the border of each home screen shows. Is there a way to hide it?
I'm running Paranoid Android (original) for Nexus 7 (jelly bean)
I've tried going through the settings and interface options but i've had no luck with such option.
Thanks!

You can't hide the blue border on the stock launcher. The only way is to switch launchers to something like Nova or Apex.

Ah, thanks!
So Nova and Apex's are themes? I'm not quite familiar with all the lingo just yet. I seemed to have found Nova in the Google Play store. Install and i'm good? I'm guessing i may have to play with the settings?

I have one more question, when a new ROM update is up.
Will backing up my stuff keep its settings? Cause when i flashed the updated ROM i had to flash GAPPS again and then it asked me to input my google information as if I were doing this for the first time.
Or is this something that i'm just going to have to get used to?

If you you flash gapps at the same time as the ROM update, you shouldn't have to re-enter your info.
So the sequence for flashing an update would be: reboot into recovery, wipe cache and dalvik cache, flash ROM update, flash gapps, reboot.
You shouldn't have to re-enter your Google info again if you follow those steps.
Also, you can backup your paranoid app settings in settings>paranoid settings>backup and restore. That way when you flash an update, you can just go back to settings and restore your paranoid settings for all your apps.

I've got an 8GB Nexus 7, rooted. It's still running the factory installed ROM, though, it's just rooted. I changed the pixel density so it could be in the tablet UI, but I noticed it was missing many games and apps (namely Angry Birds and Facebook), as is the entire section for Play Books. I reverted to the standard pixel density (213), but they are still missing. How can I get these back? Do I have to do a factory reset?
Usually changing dpi messes with things like that. I suggest installing a stock rooted rom and flash the tablet ui located in the android development forum or you could flash the Kaos rom which has the option to switch from stock to tablet ui back and forth in the settings. You might want to backup your apps and their data before doing anything.

Hey, thanks for the reply. Can you direct me to or recommended a certain ROM? I'd like to keep the full tablet UI, but I'd also like to keep the tablet as stock as possible and have 100% of the features 100% working.

Here is the link for Kaos - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1797117
Great rom! It gives you options while installing, through aroma installer, practically any launcher and most kernels. I recommend you choose the stock kernel and the stock launcher. Runs smooth once you let it bake. Do not install the true tablet ui with the rom because you can switch to it in settings > system>status bar and it's under general.

I just flashed my N10 with Custom ROM CM10.1 but I realized I don't like it that much.
My N10 is rooted, and I do not know how to roll back to the stock rom because I forget to do a full backup. Please help, im running on 4.2.2
Thank you! I just want to roll back
Tim
Google search for factory image for Nexus 10. Or install a stock rooted 4.2.2 ROM from the development section, or try out other ROMs and see if you like them better.
I dont really understand though how you dont like CM10.1, it is the same as stock but with a couple more features and bugfixes. What could you possibly not like about it?
Just check out the sticky threads on the nexus 10 general forum. They have a thread with stock roms.
However my suggestion would be to try out more custom roms. They too are available on a sticky thread. Specially the vanilla rootbox one which is working great for me.

Try using carbon ROM and Trinity kernel I have that set up on my N10 and my N4 and both devices smoke man they are fast as hell....try rasbean too all of this is in the nexus 10 original development section ......if your looking for close to stock as possible try mmuzzy ROM its stock with performance enhancements ....don't fret man that's the best part flashing different ROMs and kernels to suit you best man :cyclops:
I suggest using AOKP Pub with the Trinity Kernel. Awesome combination, super smooth, good battery life and nice performance - plus a ton of options for customization
agreed with anazei

Take a deep breath man. When I saw this thread I thought you dropped it in the toilet or something. LOL Not a big deal, it is easy to go back. If your head is spinning because of all the different options available in CM play around with it for a few days, it will grow on you.
Take it easy buddy. There is a tons of stuff that you could do with your rooted nexus.

Well, the reason I do not like about the CM10.1 and most custom ROMs is that it doesnt support google play store and also it lacks the google pinyin(input method)which comes default on the nexus 10 and the google pinyin i download on the official site is way different than the default built-in one.

Nobody would use custom ROMs if they couldn't use the play store also you can pull the pinyin apk and install it to any custom rom

Well the reason Id want to flash back to my stock rom was because when I tried flashing gapps I cant get into rcovery mode i kept getting a dead android with exclaimation mark.
Sent from my Nexus 10 using Tapatalk HD
Then you have a corrupt download or something weird. Most ROM's need to flash a gapps package after the ROM gets flashed so you have the official Google apps like the play store. There are one or two ROMs with these apps built in but the "proper" way is to separate the apps into the different installs. Though if you use a ROM with an Aroma installer, I have always seen gapps get flashed as a part of that. Mr.Robinson's AOKP PUB is a good example of that.
Also in regards to pinyin you would have to flash to stock/rooted use something like es file explorer goto /system/apps copy the pinyin apk to your normal storage(virtual sdcard) then you can flash whatever you want and copy that apk back to /system/app set permissions to read write read read and maybe reboot. You should then have the one you want working.

Hey guys. As the title says i recently joined the android world through my nexus 4 and yesterday i rooted my phone for the first time using the nexus toolkit. So as i would like to ask some things that may sound foolish, but make me curious, im not gonna delay any longer and just go on. While rooted on stock rom i could see into my apps the SuperSu and busybox free apps. Now that i flashed rasbeanjelly they are gone.Do i need both? If yes should i download from google play or install from sdcard (there is a folder named "!Readytoflash containing these zips plus a "perm-recovery-signed" zip which i also dont know if its needed.) Also as i said now that i flashed my new rom i combined it with matr1x kernelv8.5. Any way to see its settings or edit them through a control app(havent found one yet). I maintly want to see how pgm fuctions work, like sleep2wake but cant see how to activate them etc. Last but not least before i go on custom rom from stock i made a backup thhrough Nexus toolkit and titanium backup.Does it matter where i choose to restore apps from and can i do that even if the restore was from different rom( will manually drag and drop photos on phone hope it works too). Thanks in advance for the help.

I am currently running the latest paranoid android Rom on my nexus 4 using Franco's milestone 2 kernel. I am having problems installing apps that I downloaded (e.g., Adobe flash update). What happens is I can see the installation screen with the different permissions, but I cannot click on the install button. It works when I install apps from the play store but not through root browser, astro, es explorer. I have tried other apks to make sure it's not just that one file. As well, I had even removed those dimmer apps like twilight and lux before installing. I also stopped the running applications and then tried installing. I'm stumped and I have no idea what to try next. Maybe there is another uncommon app that I need to uninstall before installing off my card...
If anyone has any suggestions, that would be greatly appreciated.

you can not install adobe flash from the play store, flash does not support android 4.2.2. yoy would need to install it from the adobe site list of past flash updates. same with any other app from the play store that doesnt support the nexus 4 or the right android version.
thanks

Also AppWidgetDisplay for Sony Smartwatch causes such behavior.
There is another way which will always work, If you don't want to waste your time.
Just use adb to install. As shown in the post below.

The post above you has a fix in his signature that is this link here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=42181794&postcount=75 give that a try.
You won't be able to install TWRP until you install a 2nd bootloader. Once you do that, you flash the ROM from there.
