yes generally use Windows 7 (on laptop for flashing and other "playing" with phones) and also have Windows 8 Pro on PC computer...
Would like to join this question. Im suing same rom, but 7.8 version (v8.9).
As I don't have Activation Code now (will try tomorrow, maybe Monday) I cannot use Marketplace, but I would like to have Youtube and some other free apps installed.
How can I use Xap Deployer (the one installed on device)? Or maybe not how to use, but how to make it see .xap file?
When I connect it to PC, Zune starts and I don't see if it has a way to copy this files.
When I turn it off and use WP7USBStogrageEnabler I got HTC HD2 Media Device with Storage inside it, but its empty (no folders or files, but it's capacity is the same as Internal Memory I gave my HD2).
I can copy any file, but than cannot find it on device itself. If I connect it again to PC, the file is there, so it exist...

Btw, the second screenshot is almost what it is, but couldn't find a better screenshot.
Allready tried it out, you can "control" your system using these plugins... Tweakers.net article (dutch) English for more information.
Download other plugins over here or using this URL for the Windows Sideshow, at the moment you can control your Powerpoint presentation (next/previous slide + preview) and control your Windows Media player (next/prev play/pause and see what you're playing + album art).
Also you can check your mail (which didn't work) and see your appointments (also didn't work). Looks promising.
Lolz i couldn't find a nice screenshot from the app for the Pocket PC so thats why i asked for the screenshot. It's looking verry nice i will try to use it. Thanks
Wicked, I've been waiting for this
some examples..
Sorry, my Vista is Turkish
..
Installation Guide..
You have to use Windows Vista..!
1- Extract files (in X86-PC Drivers.cab) to a folder.. You will need to them for "The bluetooth peripheral device" drivers on PC..
2- Copy WindowsSideShowForWindowsMobile.cab to your PDA..
3- Pair your PC and PDA via Bluetooth
4- Open "Control Panel\Windows SideShow" and check (click) applications which ones do you want to use on PDA
does this work with the media centre app??
available gadgets (english)..

SideShow on Touch Diamond
I hope you guys can help me here.
I tried installing sideshow on my touch diamond. The .net compact framework is already running, I installed the file above, and I paired the xda with my pc.
Although the xda is listed in my bluetooth devices it won't apear in the sideshow settings.
Does anyone have a clue or experienced similar problems?
thx dr_krohn
hi
try deleting the paring and recreating it as you have to have the sideshow service in the list on your phone under bluetooth or under the same on your computer also there is a newer one out there than the one posted on the thread.

I have the same problem when pairing my phone with Windows 7. According to Microsoft this is a known problem which they are investigating although there still haven't been any updates on this.

As I said in the post above yours, sideshow does NOT work with Windows 7 and there is no way around it.
Thank you! Working perfectly in my Polaris and in my Vista
Being a Mac user and not using Windows mobile device for over 6 years, I seem to have totally forgotten some basics.
I bought a game from handango called Resco Guardians
http://www.handango.com/catalog/Pro...349§ionId=7612&merch=L1_Bestsellers_Games
(it stated the game should work on HD2) but totally forgotten how to install 3rd party apps..in the old days I remember using Activesync. But now, I loaded the exe file to the device memory card and tried to run/install it from there, but got message this is not a PPC compatible software.
Have I installed it wrong or is it simple not compatible?
Also, is there specific drivers I need to install for Windows 7 to recognise my device, as the Windows 7 mobile app does not seem to recognise my HD2.
Thanks for advice and please excuse the fact that my mind has gone blank regarding Windows.
The .exe is for your PC. It will automatically add your new game to ActiveSync, and send it over when you next dock.
For Windows 7 you need to download the Windows Mobile Device Centre. No drivers are required.
Connect HD2 via Active Sync or Windows Media Center for Vista and Win7 and run .exe file from PC... It´l install your game to your PDA...
You dont need any drivers...
Do I select Activesync or Hard disk mode (usb plug option)? it must be todo with me trying to connect using VMWare Fusion, as the device does not seem to be recognised.
Active Sync mode, btw Windows 7 should already have Windows Mobile Device Centre installed form what I know, is there no cd/software with the hd2?
Yes device centre present, but no CD with HD2, in Activesync mode, device is not recognised...maybe to do with me running Windows in Virtual mode..but never happened before with Blackberry etc.
Just tried connecting my HD2 with a Vista laptop, still cannot connect in Activesync mode. Could a HD2 owner please tell me how they are connecting to their PC. Maybe an option I have not selected?
Thanks
You need to install Windows Mobile Device Centre for Vista, not Activesync

Thanks for link, its already installed (and reinstalled it) but there seems to be a problem with HD2 being recognised...did your phone come with a CD?
OK fixed it - for anybody else who may encounter same problem...make sure "Enable Faster Data Sync" is NOT checked in USB to PC setting.
That's odd, mines checked and it works fine. I am using Windows 7 and not Vista so may thats why it works for me?
At least its working now!
Yes since I unchecked the option, now works on Windows 7 and Vista in virtual mode on my Mac.
I am trying to install the registry editor PHM Reg Edit. I've copied the MSI file I downloaded to the memory card but when I click it I get this message - There is no application associated with PHMRegEdit.
Any ideas? Do I need to install an unzip program?
Run the MSI from your pc with the phone connected - it will install it on your device. You can only install files on your handset via .cab files.

I did try that first and it installed on my PC but not the phone? I can't find it anywhere!
I'm connected via active sync, I'm assuming that's right?

Well, then you should be prompted with the choice of installing the software...Anyway, if you run the msi on your PC, you now have somewhere on your hard disk, the cab for regedit, you can copy it to your SD and install it from there directly on the HD2
you could also download the cab instead of the msi

Yes I'm prompted but doesn't give the option to choose the phone. After installing it on the PC I tried running setup and I get a box popup asking me to add/remove programs on the phone?

Cheers

I'm sorry, I think Windows 8 isn't very good, but i may be able to help you...
The computer you are trying to use probably came with Windows 7, right? So, back up your data and reinstall Windows 7, then install Windows 8 and put back your data.
Yes, I know that this is tedious, but it will work.

troubelschout complicatie or whatever its called then try recomended setting xp sp3 and voila it works.
had the same problem on windows 8
If you do a clean install of W7 and upgrade that to 8, that would be a clean install and most likely run better than having all of the programs from Release Preview leave back files that mess with the Final Copy
I had RTM, so basically final build. Thanks to ****rbeer I have managed to get a product key out of that program.
I had installed windows 8 pro with clean install ... No problem at all...
Running fine...

This is Because of the web installer needs to Be already installed visual Studio 2010 or Higher version on Your PC.
Many of the guys dont have installed visual Studio or they dont want to install it.
So For Those Peoples here is Separate Stand Alone version of Windows Phone Power Tools.
1. Download attach zip and Extract.
2. Run WindowsPhonePowerTools.exe
3. Connect Your windows Phone...Make sure lock Screen is open.
4. Connect...
5. Now select your xap and deploy or update.
Enjoy!!!
I don't think that will work (correct me if I'm wrong). Windows Phone Power Tools use CoreCon API - COM classes that come with Windows Phone SDK. Furthermore, it also references SmartDevice DLLs, which also come only with Windows Phone SDK.

Hi! I have a trouble to download the zip file. Is still work? If not where I can find link for wppt?
Hello, the attachment isn't available. How I can download it?
As a requirement, you need the Windows 8.1 SDK.
Thank you for the information.
