Just a few questions:
1. this kernel based on nAa sources? Or sense kernel sources? Or stock se sources? Or??? You wrote a lot of thing...
2. Where is the kernel sources? The link for the htc dev page is not enough... Every linux based kernel NEED the correct sources, because protected with GPL license. Read the threads from af974 and colossus in the dev section. But if you a developer you know it.
3. What is: Sense Modules???
4. At least one example (what is not available in other x8 kernels) from the "Ported various components from 2.6.35 / 38"???
5. Another example from "Many, many feature and stability patches from various kernel sources"???
6. ICS DRM support??? What is it??? All binaries/java classes related to drm functions is in the ROM... The drm support in nAa-14 kernel is only two thing, one is the added drm user in the init binary and a drmservice start in init.rc. WITHOUT the proper binaries/classes the "drm in the kernel" is nothing.
I don't want to say: your work is sh!t, and not want to be a troll, but WITHOUT CORRECT DESCRIPTIONS this kernel looks like a modded nAa-14 with a changed bootclasspath (what is needed for htc roms).
So, please correct the opening posts.
All this feature its from nAa-14 .. the GitHub HTKernel its from my private (anyother) profile .. just I need a time to do all this.. can't do it for 2'sec ..

1. Its a mix of nAas source and the modded bootclasspath
2. I think the OP will edit the frist post with the release of the rom.
3. He explained it by him self.
4. Does nAa give any examples? Nope, so stop asking for it.

Why do you focus on that, in a Thread about Development of a Kernel?
Pilu1978 is right about a few things, but please show more understanding for the dev, everybody watches him and wait for a release ...

Agree with you. this people is master of mod......most rom are add from market/remove apk. now release new mod kernel.. i know many of people dream getting real sense but is imposible... only can get mod sense..
if so easy at dev, everyone also can release iphone rom /kernel, window rom/kernel etc everyday. then get some thank at XDA or like at FB..... be a recognize Dev at xda
anyway, if you all are happy with mod rom , should be no problem. enjoy the rom.
I think peeps should give him a chance should what the op is up to eventhough his kernel explaination is abit confusing but still is a man work.
We should see the final build result then we can really comment about it
Okay then .. when release Sense .. try to boot it with nAa .. I'm searching help for one better Rom not for anyother ... Lets Release the ROM then start to talk about .. and I'm nothing here say " I'm developer " the devs choice you ..

you guys are wrong. the kernel has edited init.rc to allow us to boot SENSE when we have it. be patient he said it will be released tomorrow or soon.
Problem here is that the kernel was released without a ROM to test it out on. So as usual there will be speculations. If I were to blame danibosev alone, it would seem a bit one-sided since, unlike previous "sense trolls", he actually has some work to show. But if I were to blame the users speculating if this is BS or not would be just as bad because there's no ROM to test this with.
Bottom-line : OP should have waited till had had a completed project before he opened a thread. Look at serious devs like nAa. He finishes ALL his work and THEN opens threads. Not post 1/2 of the actual thing and ask to wait 1-2 days for the other half. Users should also give this guy the benefit of a doubt. He has a kernel. If you guys keep spamming, saying it's some soft modded kernel and suddenly he releases an actual Sense ROM, then what ? You will only be looked at as trolls in the future if this works out.
Again, not taking sides. Just my 2 cents. Back to development.

cus this kernel have more HTC tweaks so....
Well appreciate what OP has tried to build for the X8 Community but thing seem to not being how it should because kernel released before rom is done.
It would be nice if the rom already in working state at least boot and display or maybe more to be posted here.
Myself doesn't have any idea about this but as an user of xda we should respect people thread and give the OP sometime to prove the work. They don't earn for their work
I see there's effort but we just need give sometime to them to show their work.

1. The sources used to build the binary part of the kernel (kernel image), the bootclasspath is only a list in a text file in the ramdisk. A modded ramdisk is NOT a new kernel.
2. All linux kernel NEED the sources (in any usable form), this is NOT only an xda rule, try to search what is GPL, and read this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=19970628&postcount=1
3. Explained? What? Where?
4-5. nAa not give these infos? Try to read this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=20391558&postcount=2 and this: https://github.com/nobodyAtall/nAa-kernel Not a hard work to find what ported from newer kernels, what is nAa own work, and what is others work...
6. Again: try to read something For example: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=30606390&postcount=1085
And I'm rude? Why? Because ask something (related to the development?) The OP want other developers to help this development, but without correct informations this is not easy...

Yes, you are right. The correct way: do anything usable -> post it later = DEVELOPMENT
This form (post anything before it will be usable) is only a thanks collecting (and good place for haters/trolls/spammers...)
@RohinZaraki and Zackconsole: at least two man who understand something
@Danibosev: okay boy, I think better if you finish your work before post it. And if you don't know anything, please search and read, or ask from seniors/recognised devs. Maybe you can do a sense rom, maybe not, I don't know. But I know if you starting with bad things (like this useless thread) your name will be degraded...
So, I think better if you talk to the moderators to close/delete this thread, and IF your work COMPLETED (the time is not important if you need days/weeks/months to finish it, a lot of member who want sense on x8 still wait) you can (re)open this thread.

totally agree with you. @danibosev, you should've released both together. ask a mod to close this thread temporarily. and this can get you (and me) warnings and infractions.

I know this is developement section and i should not post like this but i want to tell that whenever i open this developement section i see some new froyo custom roms or rom upgrades with several new features , nothing more. I think it is enough creating roms like v1.0 then v1.1 then v1.2 then v1.3 and so on. Galaxy 5 uses enjoying cyanogen but we can't. All devs are in the race for providing better froyo roms but no on one wants to provide cyanogen, why? because it is not possible. If port of cyanogen is possible in g5 then not in g3. G3 is better phone then G5. Shall we have to satisfied only with froyo roms? All devs are giving their best but it is enough creating new version of froyo in every week, do something new, port CYANOGEN which we really wants.I don't know anything about programming, coding, i can't do anything but all u devs are able to port cyanogen to our device. So please stop doing like v1.0=>v1.1=>v1.2=>v1.3 and do Cyanogen. All devs please combilne at one place and give us CYANOGEN.
Cyanogen can be ported to our phone. I have no idea how can i do this, i may give it a try in summer but i will fail, it is sure. But i will start to learn coding, & kernel compiling (the basics).
Maybe a few of the devs come together, make a team and then work on this
m ready to learn and try
you are right but seriously its not EASY! you should have very good programming skills... and why is CM so good anyway? i would prefer MIUI port. when you say cyanogen mod i assume you mean the latest GB version? what is so great in GB anyway? i mean yeah its newer than froyo but still, i have my own tablet and it runs 2.3 (3.0 is coming ) and i dont think its that great... i like the edge glow and on/off animation but thats it. we CAN have the same features on froyo! and besides IF we would port GB it would take so much time that android 2.5 would be out already and then everybody would say that GB sucks... thats all
It's a lot lot of work to do it.

In fact, you must start from source files as you must compile all. No ?
In example, for gingerbread, I started compiling it from google source, but I'm stuck with libaudio library.
I took libaudio source code from sgs and I will see if I can compile them and continue.
In addition, you should adapt kernel 2.6.35 for the apollo device, and that's a big work too.
Or if we are lucky, kernel 2.6.32 could work ... I don't know.
I know it is not easy but please devs do something. If porting once started we will defenetily get Cyanogen.
The thing is cyanogen takes alot of time and there's no encouragement so I say whoever devs GB then I will donate £10 to them and I know many others will.

well do that as soon as the guy who already did that will release his mod
We shall ask motafoca for help, he does not have a sg3 but has a lot of knowledge and experience porting Gingerbread to sg5!
Once we have some clue or knowledge on how to start with we then can try/experiment ways to accomplish CyanogenMod.
Some proof for Sg5 having 2.3>here
As for people who want to port GB or Cyanogen flores said in this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=13132913&postcount=51 that he has already done work on gingerbread so i guess devs like apollo or other people who have experience in the kernel front can have something to work upon....... what i mean is there are a few devs who have mentioned about their incomplete works on Cyanogen/gingerbread, if an experienced developer can combine all their individual work we can have something actually working........

ok first of all dont take flores too seriously... he just talks too much and never does anything so i doupt that he has done anything more than looked at GB and said he can port it... i have asked about his project and quess what? nothing.
True is that we have too many custom roms, but changes only name and theme. We can customize everything in froyo rom, but we need to have some1 who can customize kernel! We have one kernel by our hero marcel and thats all! His kernel is used by every rom here. Always same:
New custom rom!
Same features as another rom
Thanks to marcellube for his kernel
We dont need gb, we dont need cm7
But
We need MORE KERNELS!!!

About the CM9: Operation Inferno ROM, it lists Shot of Awesomeness as included in the features but also in the 'download after' section of the first post. So is Shot of Awesomeness on top of the Tiamat kernel the default after flashing the ROM or do you still need to flash the kernel and kernel mod as well?
can this be the official thread for all of Team Inferno's ROMs?
Firstly, thanks for the rock star ROMs Awesome. Your hard work is appreciated and thanked.
Rom your using: (was) Rootie Tootie Fresh 'N Fruity 3.8.5 and Infernalized CM9 v3
Question: I know the camera and wifi calling issues are being worked on, but is there any hope of seeing FM radio working with the ICS ROMs (low priority understood)?
Also, on RTFF3.8.5 and InfernoV3, I get very slow rendering of Facebook and sometimes on the browser (both Chrome beta and Dolphin HD), like a haze over the screen that then goes away. On both I was running the V6 Supercharger and KAK. I had set the governor to 'ondemand'. I am currently running FriedIceCream3 with KAK and the governor at 'ondemand' and the rendering issue is gone. Is there some setting that I might be able to change in RTFF (as I love this ROM the best by far!!!)? Thanks again, team Inferno rocks.

I posted the shot and kernel as optional the Rom itself uses cyanogens kernel the option I made available was if u wanted to try a different kernel Tiamat would be one to try out or elginsk8rs kernel are both very good.. The purpose of posting the shot on the thread was if u flashed a different kernel u would have to re flash the shot.

Thanks. Just so I'm clear, the CM9 Operation Inferno ROM uses the upstream CM kernel by default and any other kernel (such as Tiamat and SoA or elginsk8r's) has to be downloaded and flashed afterwards. Right?

Thanks! Questions wrt the camera /camcorder - Flash working? Will it have better/same video resolution than A-Cam from Collective (only 480p)? I ask as A-Cam has been a great alternative addon to Inferno ROMs while your dev team has been cranking on the issue.

I recently heard that FXP will stop developing for the whole Xperia 2011 series, when just around the corner, Android 4.2 was standing with a bag of goodies, for which FXP has a valid reason, that these devices lack ram to support features of 4.2. I decided to build 4.2 from source for 2011 devices, for those who'd want to try out the latest version of android. I can handle compiling ROM. But need some help with kernel. if you can help out, or if you wanna be a part of the project. Leave a comment at this thread or PM me. After public release, Dev's can submit their patches / fixes for the ROM to that thread....
I do this because i don't want us to be stuck with stock based ROMs forever and because 4.2 looks awesome . All in all, Thankyou FXP for your work.
one thing that our xperia 2011 devices (especially neo/v ) lack is kernel developers ,we dont have linux 3.0 kernel which which would have made the user experience of JB 4.1 or 4.2 better , linux 3.0 supports many advanced features of JB ,but due to lack of these kernels our user experience will be incomplete , building & testing out these kernels will take hell of time and patience.
i hope this doesn't disappoint's any user or dev just a suggestion
linux 3.0 kernels would be awesome on our phones
i wish you all the best for taking such a great project

I would like to help, though I'm not of that much use YET.
Right now I'm mainly into developing apps, currently learning myself the basics of Kernel Development, I'm also capable of compiling Android.
Going to mess around a bit today, haven't compiled Android for my Xperia Pro yet.

Ok so.. Half way through compiling it failed, because of low storage or something. I read up online and found out that I need atleast 30gigs for compiling, where as I only have around 15-20 free on my laptop, lol unlucky I guess.. So project delayed - until I get more storage for my pc or if someone compiles for me if I give them the sources (if want 4.2 faster). And as for the kernel, instead of building a kernel (which may take long). I'll be modifying the current JB kernel for 4.2

I'm very happy to present my port to our phone, a cm10.1 for the -51, ported from Desire S. This is a "new" release, don't expect a perfect rom with all working!.
What IS Andromadus?
Initially it was a group of people who got together to make ICS work on the HTC Desire Z because nobody else seemed to want to support devices with physical hardware keyboards/trackpads. Whilst the idea stays the same It has grown slightly to support some other hardware and some of the work we have done is now used in many other devices. Andromadus builds of CM10 or CM10.1 are basically CM sources with a few additional tweaks or additions to support our phones.
1. New versions will be added as and when I feel there are enough changes to warrant one, don’t ask when the next version is coming.
2. If we decide to release a "Stable" version of these roms they will be published in another Andromadus thread.
Direct all your queries with release versions to that thread and in the same vain do not discuss these releases anywhere but here.
3. I will do as best I can to answer questions but if you don't get an answer from me I'm sure somebody else will be along to help. Help each other and I have more time to spend fixing things!
4. Don't ask for what's changed since the previous version, have a look at the recent submits on the Andromadus github if you want to know or wait for the mini changelogs when I post a new release.
5. If there is something in particular to test it'll be mentioned!
6. As always if you didn't wipe between installations then at least verify that the problem exists on a clean install before posting here. Nandroid/superwipe/install/check at the end of the day you can always restore your nandroid if the problem is reproducible on a clean installation. If you can't be bothered to try this then I really can't be bothered to try to help you :>
7. All that said ensure you make a nandroid/backup before hand. I take no responsibility for what you do to your phone with these ROM.
8. Whilst I can't stop you I would rather these builds were not used as a base for any ROM/MOD/ETC. The source is all available if you want to do your own builds with which you can do whatever you like.
9. Tell us what works/what's worse/what's better but don't ***** when something breaks or isn't fixed yet, report it and move on.
10. Sometimes people forget that we do this for fun, for ourselves, and sometimes your super important issue is way down on our personal list of things to be fixed.

just a qwestion. How did you port the GB kernel to work on 4.2.2? I wanna learn it too. like how to make GB kernel work on JB or so. So that for KLP or so we wont have to depend on shendu to port a kernel and i can make a full rom port from Incredibe S. So Yeah. thanks again awesome Job.

Maybe this is stupid but never tried ICS based rom's (except Aurora) because I don't understand what unlock pink screen means and was afraid of not being able to return to ginger from a Roadkil's Disk Image backup. My point is, after flashing AndromadusMod, is it possible going back to ginger/froyo by restoring a Roadkil image? Or at least could you explain what to do if something goes wrong?

Status UPDATE!!!! BIG
Progress
As many of you folks know, few weeks ago me and @eagleeyetom announced that work on CM for huashan is in progress. Our initial thoughts were that this process won’t be so difficult as the device is quite similar to devices like the Xperia T/V, which have great support on XDA and the community as a whole. The device is a mixture of Xperia Z & Xperia T
We started to make a tree and made it buildable, but then problems started to appear. We needed a kernel, badly, as the stock one wasn’t prepared to be used with CAF (Code Aurora Forum, a Qualcomm website for kernels, framework and general Android + Linux sources) and CyanogenMod’s graphical drivers. I initially once got CM to boot by making a LEGO build which was a hacked up version of the source and definitely not releasable by any means. Luckily Adam Farden (known as @adfad666) bought a device and helped us to make a bootable kernel. Finally, about a week ago - I got the device to boot so I decided to post here on this thread...
The initial builds were extremely buggy and the only working thing was bluetooth, so I asked Kali- from FXP to help us a bit and with his help, CM 10.1 is 95% ready for use. The only thing bugged right now is FM Radio, but it’s not necessary to have a fully working ROM and we will fix it soon....
In the next few days we will work on 4.3 as it shouldn’t be too hard from this
The kernel that we have, is a temporary solution, as we all know that Sony will release the 4.3 update soon with proper kernel and updated blobs to fix issues with camera, WiFi etc instead of some hacks...
I want to thank @Kali- for his great help, @CallMeVentus for wasting spending 3 days of his life committing CAF related things to Sony kernel and all people involved in the project @CallMeVentus we love you and thanks for your efforts even though we are not using it anymore).
Our trees will be merged with FXP, so expect the thread in the near future from them . I had a talk with some CM people this morning. PLEASE DO NOT POST THREADS FOR BUILDS NOW
From Australia with love,
Brin

Thanks for your interest :good: .
Even though we <3 (love) open source and forks we just ask is that you don't release it(the rom) as the kernel is very only temporary as Sony haven't released 4.3 yet.
We can't stop you of course but we'd just rather if you didn't YET..
Feel free to do it in a few days. I'll post here with news very soon.
I am in talks with FXP/CyanogenMod so you may see it pop up on the official repos soon but as you know CyanogenMod doesn't announce support before a device is ready and in the repos so don't bug/annoy/spam our friends upstream at CM ..
Don't build a ROM based upon a not ready source.
We don't want bricks or people not following instructions on random threads.
We unlocked this thread to explain how far we had got.
I am building 4.3 currently and using 4.2.2 as a daily driver..
Expect it very very very soon .
You guys should all be very very thankful for Kali- and adfad666 as the project wouldn't be as far as it is without them.
Thread cleaned.
Please keep your discussions on topic guys.
And BTW, the topic is neither AOKP nor AOSPA nor Slim nor anything else. It's about Building CM for the XSP from scratch

You guys need to update the kernel to be based on CAF. The rest should not be that difficult.
Do you guys want me to set up a mirror for FXP or will you be using the account i set up for UberLaggyDarwin?

@naitik2012
Look I would help but I don't have a device (Xperia L) to develop on.
I can probably help to a extent via Google talk or something but I can't guarantee anything though.
Get one of the developers on that forum to send me a PM.
Anyway I found this link

adfad666 and I are working on CM10.2 now.
Booting 4.3
Xperia SP is booting CM10.2 aswell. @adfad666 (Adam Farden) did a lot of work (I helped out a little bit) to get it to boot while I was sleeping/debugging FM radio/complaining about my terrible internet speed....

I am currently debugging the FM Radio error.
It's coming guys.
Enjoy.
