I was successful with this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1385577
I had to root my N7, install super user and Busybox. I used the Nexus Root Toolkit to do that.

Nice link, now I know how to change my MAC address if I ever want to get into the hacking scene. Fire up the VPN, quick MAC change here, rout through a few public servers to spoof my IP (or use something like BTGuard) and I'm off to the races!

I'm using Mattc's EvoLeo 1.0 and it has a different mac address than the other android builds. It's not the real mac id, but at least it'll get the two of you connected. It's quite a nice build for me.

I need to change my mac adress too.. I can't login on my company network because sb else is using same mac adress :s
A lot of recent kernels contain a fix that allows you to set your wifi mac address using the cmdline parameters in startup.txt.
Which build/kernel are you using? You might want to check if that works.
you can try this
set cmdline "bt.mac=00:11:22:33:44:55 wifi.mac=00:12:23:34:45:56"
change your bt address to whatever it is and same for wifi.
Thanks! Works perfect

Just edit your startup.txt like what asaHD2 explained.
Make sure you have hastarin kerne r8 and beyond that. If before that you should use another command line.

it depends on the build you have, is it NAND or SD? SD builds have the file startup.txt, and for some of them the method mentioned earlier works, for some it does not. Some hints for NAND builds, which could also works for SD ones are here, maybe sth more in one of those threads
I need to change my mac adress too, got 2 HD2 on same network / BT in car .
Im using "BOYPPC - GINGER CM7 HoneyComB"

[Q] HELP ! TWO HD2's On same network !! NOT WORKING !!

Hi, My friend and me flashed and installed Android on our HTC HD2 today, we used the same roms and method.
When we try to connect to the same wireless modem, we keep disconnecting each other. I Think it might have to be something to do with the IP address.
As we used the same Rom and method to install android on our phones, maybe we have the same IP?
Any help is appreciated.
i heard flashing a different radio to just one of them fixes this issue
I had the same issue, add the following in the startup.txt on one of the phones
set cmdline "wifi.mac=00:12:23:34:45:56"
Thank you so much. testing this right now,
Just for future notice, its
"wifi.mac_address=00:12:23:34:45:56"
didnt work without "Address" in the command line

How should this fix it when all builds have the same MAC?
Take at look at yours, mine is 00:11:22:33:44:55 and I'm sure yours is the same.

You both got the same mac.address...the kernel is designed to have a single mac address. I also got two hd2 and fixed it with the edit to startup.txt...
I am having another issue with the Wifi, and this seemed to solve it for 10 seconds.
The problem is, that i can connect to the Wifi router at work, though i don't have any working internet connection.
When i changed the mac address in the startup.txt it worked for 10 seconds, and after that it failed miserably again.
I've read about this issue before, though i can't find anything about it anymore. Does that also has something to do with the mac address? Wifi works fine everywhere else, but here.
With WinMO or a very old android rom and kernels it works fine.
Tested with MDJ ROMs, Cyanogen ones, all have the same issue.
Anybody?

But what does the MAC have to do with a radio?
And this is clearly a problem with his MAC.
The latest kernels from hastarin and mdj solve this problem with the MAC address using the same startup trick. For best results, update your kernel to the latest but READ CAREFULLY AND THOROUGHLY. If you don't follow the instructions (such as putting the 'root' folder in your actual root folder), your WiFi will not work.

It depends on the rom. Earlier kernels needs the address while newer ones don't.

[Q] Identify real MAC Address in NAND

Hi I installed MAGLDR and running MDJ's NAND rom
so is there any way to identify the real MAC Address of BT and Wifi
I kno installing WinMob roms will show the real MAC addresses but other than that is it possible to identify them with MAGLDR and NAND roms
Hopefully you have a router, you can dig out your MAC address out of it.

This kernel brings some improvements to the original, one of these is original WiFi MAC address

Hmm, do you have busybox installed?
i hv terminal installed and rooted
btw if with busybox we can detect da MAC correctly why cant android display the original one
Known issue, and it's been said it should be fixed eventually, just gotta have patience.
Unique is at least better than the previous all-builds-have-same-MAC.

there is no way to look up the mac address on the phone itself. The only way is to check the router's attached devices and check the mac address from there.

[Q] I intent to write a guide on how to root an Arc on macosx, already been done?

Hi all,
I just registered on xda after I rooted my Arc yesterday (thank you all for the tutorials).
I've searched for a way to root my Xperia Arc, I've also found 1000 different ways to do it but none could provide me a step-by-step guide to root my Arc on my mac.
Yes, I know it might be strange (some comments, I've seen) to buy an Android phone when you own a mac but I like Android phones. Besides I don't think it is any different from buying an Android phone when you own a PC or to buy an iPhone when you own a PC.
That said, it didn't make it easier for me to root because almost all guides are written for Windows.
My intention is to write a step-by-step guide on how to root on macosx. I figured it would be a better idea to ask:
1. if it has already been done (Maybe my searches were not that good)
2. and if not, if some Arc users need such a guide?
Thank you all for the replies!
People usually just use Windows as attempts at using a MAC usually fail.
From My Arc Running CyanogenMod.7.1
Alright, so not worth it?
I know you can run a VM to run all necessary programs but assuming you can't run Windows (no CD), you're kinda stuck.
It would obviously help those with a Mac, but I think this would also require some Dev input which is why most people give up and end up using Windows.
From My Arc Running CyanogenMod.7.1
Oh yes, I know and I wasn't actually referring to myself, DooMLoRD made a bash script to root on Mac OSx.
I just wanted to detail the steps I've done to root my Arc on Mac OSX in a more comprehensive way for noobs (like myself) and credit the members (like DooMLoRD) for their work.
It's just because as a noob when you search on the forum for a way to root on MacOSX, you find yourself with ton of advice but no tutorials like on Windows.
I'm certainly not an expert in this, but can't you boot Linux from a disk or flash drive and root it using Linux?
You just made my life easier, Linux I can run, I wasn't aware of the possibility. I figured if there weren't any for MacOSX, it was the same on Linux. Thank you very much! I'll drop the idea of the guide and try to learn a bit more instead
I'd still do a guide for people, that way at least we can link people to it who need it.
From My Arc Running CyanogenMod.7.1
Where should I post this "guide"?
This would be great guide actually since I'm also a mac user but it always pains me to go back to using windows for certain tasks lol
