Did you actually read the article? It says that we will probably not get it.
Hopefully he will be able in the future!
this article is just taking guesses at anything that hasnt been announced or released yet
hi
JB is junk, we don't need it

You can still
You can still get it by useing custom roms but the wifi dont work
Lets be correct in our recommendations
Jelly bean for our tablet is available in the form of ROM's and there will not be an official JB as confirmed by Acer. Please search google/xda forums for the thread.
Jelly bean 4.1.2 has been available for a very long time as ROM's and is extrememly stable with Civato's ROM's probably being the best.
Jelly Bean 4.2.1 has a couple of ROMs but the one currently being developed is by pjsport. Wifi works fine in some tablets and has a tendency to switch off once the tablet goes into sleep mode. A restart fixes it. The ROMs are pretty smooth and give you the lockscreen notification and multi user profiles.
I think JB is a super update and project butter has truly stepped up the Android experience. I may be wrong but at least I have seen three android iterations on by A500 and JB is by me the best.
Best of luck with custom ROMs:highfive:
What that bloke said, Quite a few roms are available in the dev forum. Acer has moved on.

I would like too see a offcial rom, not some debranded provider ones
jvx and jvw are here now which is a 100% clean stock version
no pre rooted or other stuff
i highly doubt an ICS build from samsung since theyve already announced builds for galaxy s 2 and a few other devices but no mention about about galaxy s and if you are a true flashaholic flash CUSTOM ROMS also the onecosmic ICS AOSP build is much better with less bugs and faster in general
I don't think we 'll have ICS
I think that there wont come ics for gt9000. But try teamhacksungs ics mod. Pretty good now, love it

i would love to do this but for 4.0 i will wait till its developed all a little further and they fixed the hardware acceleration. and when all stuff works. ill do it.
but i have never flashed custom roms you need root and stuff and need to backup that uhmmm idk the name but the imei, but you need root for that.
i only flashed tons of stock roms. and i look forward in trying 4.0 soon is it already good enaf for fulltime use ?
Would love ICS from Samsung, but I'll settle for CM9..
I'd love to try Jelly Bean but I need flash. I'm a big follower of college sports and they use GameTracker to show the progress of games. It's exclusively in Flash.
Until CBS changes GameTracker to run without Flash then I'll be stuck on versions of Android that will run Flash.
Bummer.

You got it all wrong. I have a galaxy nexus with the latest jelly bean leak and flash works without any problems.
They just said that they wont support any further release of android after ice cream... but i can assure you it still works with jelly bean

Thanks for the reply. I guess, once camera support is out, I should give it a try.
There'd be nothing to lose since I could always revert back to 4.0 if Flash suddenly stopped working.
You'll be fine. Flash SHOULD work just like it does now, the only change will be that if you have issues Adobe won't help. I've never once had an issue, so for me nothing changes.

don't hold your breath. remember we're still waiting on camera support on an outdated version of the OS.
There is already a thread for discussing Jelly Bean, please continue all further discussion there.

Wondering if anyone has any info on getting an official jelly bean for the tab 2. I am new to the tab 2 and trying to get a feel for how timely updates are when it comes to Samsung. I am holding off on root because I use my tab for important school and work stuff and though I have rooted my phone many times I have had my share of rooting issues.
Sent from my ADR6400L using xda app-developers app
Not sure about JB but rooting isn't going to change how your tab operates. It's the custom roms that break things. I rooted only to delete some useless apps and get Apps 2 SD working.
What issues did you have rooting a device ?
Jelly bean won't be released for a while , If at all. Rumours went around for a release in August but that went and passed. Samsung is not the best at releasing regular updates for its devices , so don't hold your breath for JB.
I'm running AOKP JB nightly and it works great on the Tab 2. I'm running the CM10 overclocked kernel at 1380. Here are some benchmarks....

As for when Samsung will release the official OTA JB, don't hold your breath. Samsung is notorious for being one of the last to release new firmware.
No official words yet i think official update will come as the device is newly released ,but i think we will have to wait so long for it to come
Try cm10 from www.teamhacksung.org works good in this tab, i use it now, it is unofficial jb for our tabs ,but work sooo good no bloatware at all, i think official firmware will have alot of bloatwares that we will have to remove

Thanks, I haven't tried to root the tab yet. I have rooted every phone I have and after rooting for so long bound to make a mistake. Nothing that I haven't fixes as well. I guess if its a long time coming ill have to try cm10.

And I have the dreaded HTC thunderbolt so I know what you mean when it comes to being late with updates but I dont blame them. It is what it is.

Was thinking about picking one of these up since I have a ton of unused airline miles and I really wanted a N7 but TW is a killer for me.
I am waiting to see if they can get the student edition keyboard to run with JB, until then ill sit on ics
I've installed Civato's Jelly Bean (Jelly Time) and it works great.
I just had to jump to the ICS Boot loader and it worked. I recommend the alternate way to get the ICS Boot loader.
Just get all the files needed in the instructions and you can't miss.
Also do a search on U-Tube about the Easter Egg in Jelly Bean.
It's there in Civato's Jelly Time too!
I'll use this to tell you how to see the Easter Egg.
Go to Settings.
Go to About tablet.
Tap on the line where you see Android version 4.1.2 over and over.
You are going to tap on it a lot, eventually you'll get it.
A big Jelly Bean appears.
Hold your finger on the big Jelly Bean and it breaks up the big single Jelly Bean into lots of smaller Jelly Beans and they start moving around the screen.
Your goal is to clear the screen by moving them off the edge of the screen.
Tap on them to clear off.
Enjoy

99% of ppl know about this since like gingerbread and what not
Sent from my SGH-T769 using xda premium
I was not aware of that.
I've had my Acer Iconic A500 since Aug 2011 and must have missed the threads about any Easter Eggs with Gingerbread or Honeycomb.
But I don't spend a lot of time on this website.
I came across the Jelly Bean Easter egg doing searches on Jelly Bean which is on other devices, since its not supposed to be ever released for the A500.
I thought it was interesting that it worked on the Jelly Time/Jelly Bean that was developed for the A500 by users helping validate it is Jelly Bean.
Since this version of Jelly Bean is losing its creator and updates don't seem possible maybe its time to mover on to a new machine.
Thanks

It's an Android thing, not just an Acer thing. Almost any Android device since GB as mentioned has this At least, I thought it was...
Cool. I didn't know that before.
thx
Keep looking... eventually, a candy cane appears.

Hi All,
For those that do not know anything about Fused Locations app, a small history:
I install the [ROM][4.2.1] Slim Bean - I9000 [RC2]
The problem was that it stuck in boot loop.
After many cleans, wipes, and whatever is there before installing AND factory resets the outcome was:
I used app quarantine, to disable the Fused Location App and it seems that the slim bean does NOT start if you disable an app that "locate your position through GPS or wifi to save battery"?????????!!!!!!!

I decide to check more 4.2.1 roms
Results :
Fireworm
RemICS JB 4.2
TsunamiX
Backed
AndroSlim
ALL with the same issue, you quarantine that app they are not working.
ALL CM 10.1
If there is a NON CM rom, please, suggest it and I ll try it.
I went back to Slim Bean 4.1.2 to realize that you can not use that rom because the keyboard is crushing and without a keyboard.
BUT, I had a keyboard.apk and I manage to run the rom.
PS
In the next couple of days, I ll try with back up versions of 4.2, 4.1 and the help from Titanium Backup, to use as much features of the 4.2 to the 4.1. I ll also can post the apps that I blocked with "app quarantine" and my phone is stable, fast, good battery life without any issues.
If you like to see all that please leave a comment

I kind of hoped that I m not going to debate irrelevant questions, but, what kind of thread you think it is?
People come to dev post to install software to their device. If that software is monitoring them as the stock rom do, at my point of view it may be a reason NOT to download the "new shiny roms", (roms that belong in dev).
If there was something like it, where do you suppose to find it? FAQ?
you took my advice and tried other roms then thought it would be down to google
