Pretty much the same for me: average (NYC area). CM10/LF2 Crespo modem. These speed tests were run in early AM on a weekend morning , with different servers used so are pretty much the ceiling of what I am getting in my area. I fully expect to drop to sub-2 MBPS d/l in the afternoon. I really hope that Sprint proves me wrong once LTE goes live, but this is bottom-of-the-barrel slow when it comes to 4G.

Yeah, I hope it changes for you and everyone else. I was thinking about changing to crespo myself but since the fc09 is not doing so but I decided to stay with it.

Lmao I live in nyc and my speeds easily get 6+ mbps on WiMax...I'm running FC09 modem tho so that might have something to do with it.

Just ran numerous tests...4g appears to be capped at 3.50 mbps meanwhile I got almost 2 mbps on 3g with only ~80-90 ping...
Me smells network vision in nyc! Wish I had lte to test it...3g was never this good, I've been running 4g since day 1 because the random times I had to use 3g it wasn't worth it.it would barely hit half a mb with almost 200ping...but today lol that's pretty crazy. This is the htc hero 3g speeds/ping!

4G likely depends on the area where you are (proximity to towers, saturation, indoor vs. outdoor etc). In a few places in Manhattan, I could pull as 7-8 mbps; generally, 1.5-3 mbps is the norm - when you can get it. Indoors, can hardly ever connect to WiMax and it frequently drops when I do. I hope NV LTE coverage will at least attempt to approach VZW LTE. Wife's Verizon SIII nearly never drops connection to LTE...
3g indeed seems to have improved. Today I pulled 2.2-2.0 MBPs down on 3g in an area where in the past I could not get more than 1.2 tops... don't know whether to attribute it to Network Vision (which would be a great thing) vs. Crespo modem speed improvement. I also think it's Network Vision as I hadn't noticed a huge speed improvement with Crespo vs FC09 in the past (only moderate).

You must not like iPhones... Sprint's 3G speeds have been getting progressively worse over the past year and I'd say it probably due to free smartphone promos (e.g., free Evos through Radio Shack--I know three people that got them for free) than iPhones. Sprint knows about it and is doing something about it. I don't remember where I read the article (I just googled it and unfortunately couldn't find it) where it states that Sprint is improving their infrastructure. I flashed back to Froyo because I thought that might be the problem and my speeds did increase for a while and then dropped back. Just be patient.

Here's my "normal" speeds... I was getting faster speeds on dial-up back in 1995. This has happened in my area since last November. Before that, I could easily pull 2mbps all day and all night.
Everyone else with this problem, do your speeds increase late night/early morning? Between about 2am and 6am, I can pull about 1.3mbps, but during the day or any other time, I can NEVER get above 100kbps. Obviously this shows that the towers are just overloaded, and not broken, as Sprint keeps claiming.
Just did this test, also using 3g turbocharger script

Well its either sprint or just more iPhone suckage cause my bro in law got sprint iPhone and speed tests side by side I'd get .24mbps and he'd get .02 averages. Kinda funny and kinda sad at same time. But guess its a wide spread thing per sprint community page.

Sorry to hear you are having 3G issues. My 3G shot up about a month ago from about 0.3m to more than 1.0m. I have never had anything below 0.1m unless I was roaming on Verizon. Now I'm pretty much above 1.0m with occasional slow downs, but still over 0.3m when slow.

Typical <1Mbs. Upload speeds are usually faster than download.
I have had crapy 3G speeds ever since I switched to the hero just after it came out. Before that with my touch pro I would get 1.5 Mbps easy all day and night.
The iPhone is not going to slow down the network anymore than any android phone.
Sprints data sucks!!!!!!

Anyone seeing improved 3G speeds?

With the start of Sprint's "Network Vision" multi-modal cell site build out, I, like many others are hoping that means faster 3G speeds.
I understand coverage will improve, theoretically speed should too. It's still very early on in the new development, but has anyone seen faster speeds?
I haven't seen any improvement. I don't think many are. Check out the boards on sprint's website. Nothing but negative vibes.

After seeing this i figured i'd unplug my airave. Before i would only get 2bars @ about 200kbps. Now i have 5 bars and 1.4mbps. Set to sprint only with the latest radio files. This data increase is new

My speeds in NC had been 1Mb/s and faster until late last week, now they are always less than 400Kb/s Down and 30Kb/s Up. Tonight it's much slower on the download side. Sprint really has to kick NV in to high gear or lose a lot of customers soon.

Me too but I'm in the middle of nowhere sharing a tower with about 20 houses in its range after 1am til about 5am I can get over 3mbps. We just had an infrastructure upgrade and a new tower in the last week cuz some dumbass truck driver fell asleep at the wheel and smashed thru the tower. Last night I had 2.2mbps upload and 4.1 down while tethering according to my network monitor
Edit: and I was on 3g cuz we don't have 4g yet, apparently they put the hardware in while replacing the tower but have not activated it for use yet. Although on a few occasions I have been able to connect to 4g in the last week probably while Sprint had it powered for "testing"

No matter the time of day, .40 Mbps is "typical" for download, .20Mbps for upload. That's on good days. I'm aware of all the factors that affect speeds, I just felt the need to vent about it for once.
I live on an island in the puget sound in washington state and 3G reception here is horrid. And that's after they've made some upgrades to our towers. I really don't understand why our service isn't better considering I live within miles of a major navy installation (Whidbey NAS).
Been on Sprint's Everything Data plan since August 2010 with my EVO 4G, which also requires the additional $10 charge for 4G capabilities (the nearest place I get 4G reception is over 30 miles away). I feel like I'm really having it stuck to me in the pocketbook.
If I don't have WiFi reception wherever I'm at, I typically wont even bother with 3G unless I have to. I'm more likely to just leave it off to save battery life.
Okay I'm done ranting, thanks for listening.

I feel for you putting up with that every waking moment though.

I don't think you are the only one. I came to this forum today to see if anyone else was having this issue. I'm also in Washington (Bellevue) and I used to get about 1,000 kbps and decent reception. Lately I'm lucky if I have 1 bar of 1x speed. My speeds are just as bad as yours. How is your signal strength?

Is Wimax actually getting better in your area?

Is it my imagination or are speeds improving as more power users abandon the Evo for non-Wimax devices?
I'm now getting 8 megs in a place where I was barely able to connect a year ago.
(Network Vision rollout probably has something to do with this, I know, but I still believe it has to do with fewer users overall..)
And my best reception area has improved from 8 to over 10.
sub-80ms ping times don't hurt either..

Actually, you're right to mention the flip side of improved 4G: rapidly deteriorating 3G. Maybe a lot of Evo LTE power users are saturating their local 3G networks waiting for Sprint to light up LTE in their areas. Cause around here at least it's just getting ridiculous. See screen shot - can you guess which speeds are 4G and which ones are 3G?

I guess so...it just isn't consistent with those speeds. One test rendered 10mbps and the very next was 5. 5 has always been the average here in Nashville, Tennessee.
I live in the heart of my city and its suppose to have 4g, I don't get it at home. If I travel 11 miles to work in the burbs I get 4g.
I haven't noticed wimax speeds increase but I have seen 3g get a boost. Hopefully that means wimax is next as lte is getting setup.

Slow LTE Speeds

My LTE speeds used to be really good about half a year ago before all the binge on/unlimited data promos and now during peek hours and weekends I can't even hit 1mbps down. Binge on is disabled on my unlimited data account but have a feeling everyone in my area is using tmobile or metro pcs and streaming video while using lots of bandwidth. During early morning hours about 2am to 6 am I can pull down up to 50 mbps but would good is that speed if they can't handle all the traffic during busy times of day? Anyone else getting slow lte speeds as well? When is lte-a going to be offical nationwide? Thanks

TMo website says ALL towers were supposed ti have been further update to 256 QUM as of the end of October, but i an not seeing it here (I have update to latest modem). I did see the initial 4x4 MIMO upgrade which doubled+ my download speeds earlier in October.
I get about 65mbs at home but only about 20 downtown Asheville (no high buildings) which is odd, so I don't think they are done with the towers.
