I think we would all like to see what the new KFs look like. If you would, post pics of home screen, settings page, reader, browser, etc. etc. and pretty much anything you won't find on the Amazon website.
Later tonight, I will be posting an unboxing, a quick initial review, and hopefully a comparison between it and the Nexus 7.
Same as reg kindle

Oh, really? Exactly the same as the original? Call me cynical, but I highly doubt it.

I made a request to get a dark theme added to XDA and was thinking that if enough people showed interest it might get the ball rolling. The purpose behind this is that a dark theme would improve our battery life as I'm sure all of you know how these screens work.
Before the peanut gallery chimes in, I have no interest in using the XDA app.
Well the premium app has a black theme, have you tried that?

Your in luck, this has already been done. I don't have the premium app, but I am using the dark theme. Just go into settings, it is there.
:facepalm
Forget I even said anything
edit: Just so nobody takes the above comment wrong: I DO NOT LIKE USING THE XDA APP. I want to add a dark theme to XDA's UserCP options.
I'm not sure why you would want to request a feature you wouldn't use, but more power too you..
I originally opened this thread because I was curious to know why someone would rather use the web broweser instead of the XDA app. So whats the pro/con?
I wanna a thanks button on this app

Where are you getting the idea that I wouldn't use it?
I just like the browser version better. I have it as a bookmark in my LP dock pop up which takes me directly to general or development. With the Miran browser I have other forums in different tabs so I can go back and forth between them easily. Its harder for me to navigate the app than it is to navigate the browser. Also when people reply using the app, 90% of the time it gets put in the quote box and and looks like and an empty post when in fact the reply is jumbled in with someone else's post (see post #4 as an example). The only benefit the app has to me is that the text is formatted a little better for legibility but that can be fixed in the browser by simply double tapping the page and zooming in.
This is how I'd like it to look like.
I've had enough with the stock gallery app. So many issues like, slow to load albums, mismatched thumbnails, ... weird issue where I click on a saved attachment and see an old photo that's long been deleted. Frustrating to say the least.
Anyway, I've looked but haven't really found a worthy replacement app. I want an app that can do everything the stock gallery can do. Find all my image files on my SD card and organize them accordingly.
Quickpic.....all day. Try it, its free and frequently updated.
+1 on the Quick Pic. You can even tell it which folders to include and/or which folders to exclude.

Thanks, just what I was looking for!
Yeah it's super fast after the first time you look at a pics because it saves the cache.

I noticed that, that's a great feature! I actually find myself looking at my photos more. Always dreaded using the stock gallery app.

For real....way nicer to just spend a minute looking at pics. HTC should take a note.....
It also saves the zoomed version so its effortless and not dreading to look at photos.

Here's another vote for Quickpic. On AOSP roms it is a must have, but on Sense I can live with HTC's gallery.

+1 on QuickPic. Best ever!
Icons, games, graphics, and UI look gorgeous. On the other hand, normal photography that appear just normal on my laptop, appears on my Galaxy Tab not as clear and the quality sucks. Anyone experiencing the same? I have Honeycomb 3.1 -3.2 is not yet available for my region. Thanks in advance!

In my case, graphics are awesome. In fact photos on my tab look better than their copies on the desktop.
The only thing, if you choose to set a small image as your wallpaper or lock screen, it does not look as neat. You need to use either the default ones, or some high resolution photos.
It does not look nice while browsing or on background apps. The pics that's preloaded on the Tab looks great but others are not. Weird!

This.
Can anyone do that? Like a little review.
I would like to see the notifications and the lancher.
I was hoping for the same thing a few hours ago but couldn't find anything. Basically just wanna see how the notification expansions work and how fluid the os is in tablet mode. Probably comparable performance but I just wanted to make sure xD
I would also love to see this
so no one is able to do this? I came searching again and was disappointed
I would love a video of that too. Please can someone make one?

But neither of them have video reviews of it running stock tablet UI with the DPI change mod. They both have it running the 213 dpi, hybrid UI instead.
Aww seriously guys it can't be this hard to get something like this done. :s I'd gladly do it but I don't have the device.

I think you are going to confuse people.
The Nexus 7 does run in Tablet UI mode - only the home screen is hybrid.
What you want is a video of the tablet running with the DPI mod.

If you want to get technical then yes it is running in tablet mode, with a Hybrid Launcher BUT I still believe it's hybrid UI since even while in apps, you still get the hybrid/phone-like softkeys and notification bar.
Yes I would like a video of a nexus 7 running the DPI mod and showing a brief overview of menus, opening apps and notifications.
Sorry for any misunderstandings
bump.. again.. guess I'll have to wait til I get it myself

Oh man, I can't wait to get my Nexus and do this mod!!! SOOO EXCITED!!! WANT IT SO BADLY!!!!
Just installed Hashcodes rom and it is ultra smooth. Before that I was running MoDaCo's rom and that was great also. Although I like Jelly Bean, I find the look a little boring since I've had Android phones for years already. Since I'm not very creative I figured maybe some people would like to show off some screen shots of their setup.

Yeah, I am one of the few that find vanilla android rather boring. I am not that artistic and so things end up looking odd and mismatched. I have a htc one s, and I love sense. I liked the amazon look so even though there are bugs, I am sporting the amazon launcher.

I actually prefer the new phone-ish UI to the proper-tablet version. I don't use the default launcher though, I use Apex—but keep it portrait-only like the default launcher. I like my screens in a certain way, widgets and all, and it's just a pain in the ass to try to make them work in both modes. Anyways, these are my screens, from leftmost to right. Number 03 is the main homescreen.
Here is mine. It's the same as it was on 4.0

Like the stock rom if the app is in the amazon app store they show up in high res. The only exceptions are kindle fire only editions which don't show up as available from the appstore and I guess they aren't pulled properly from the server. FYI, I used Titanium backup to restore my apps, and even then the high res icon from kindle fire editions do not show up.
Only wish the prime videos could be played on roms other than the stock..
