Where is the Tab 7.7 successor? - Galaxy Tab 7.7 General

I for one want to get one but find the hardware too outdated for 2012.
When is Samsung updating the Tab 7.7!

What specs are you looking for to warrant a successor? I am pretty happy with it as is, aside from lack of true stylus support, hoping the Atmel mxts100 comes out soon.

I just bought an i815 after wondering the same thing. But they could go quad core and 2gb like the sgs3. Another option would be to for go the amoled, keep the resolution and hit a $329 price point.
I think Samsung is in a holding pattern on this size. Once the dust settles with win rt and iPad mini and the lawsuits... new game... probably with a quad core a15

I am quite happy with the hardware, I just want JB with stable wifi (unlike ics).

I want all the specs from Note 10.1 to warrant as a true successor including the pen. It would be the perfect replacement for my OG Note.

Hi guys, I'm just gonna go straight to the point... I hate Tegra. It's so weak. I can't bear the fact that my phone (HTC Sensation) is better than my tablet! My phone can play 1080p flawlessly, while my GTab stutters on 720p! The GTab is a beautiful device, and I love honeycomb, but why the heck did Samsung use Tegra instead of Exynos on this tab?
I bought this tab a week ago, my question is, could I take it back to Best Buy and wait for the Tab 8.9? Or they don't care about buyer's regret?
Thanks in advance btw.

I think tab 8.9 uses Tegra 2 as well? I think you might as well wait for the next-gen tabs considering they will be out by the end of this year.
Yep, 8.9 is still Tegra 2, so you might as well wait for the next gen tabs.
Sent from my GT-P7510 using Tapatalk
You can take it back. They won't even charge you a restocking fee. However, the 8.9 uses the exact same processor, so what would be the point
Oh. I thought the Tab 8.9 used an Exynos processor. Hmmm guess ill keep my current tab. Thanks guys

The Tab 7.7 uses Exynos clocked at 1.4GHz.
The standard Tab 8.9 uses the same 1GHz Tegra2 as your existing Tab but the LTE version will uses something else - it may or may not be Tegra2 (though I think not) but whatever it is, it'll be clocked at 1.5GHz
I would assume Qualcomm since Exynos doesn't support LTE, correct?
Sent from your mothers house.
That would be a reasonable guess, yeah - especially since they seem to be sticking Qualcomm CPUs into the LTE Galaxy S2 variants.
The other possibility would be one of TI's OMAP chips but I don't see that personally.
I guess another option is that they could just be OCing Tegra2 SoCs but again it's unlikely.
The Qualcomm chips have the advantage that they produce variants with no modems which would allow Samsung to use whatever preferred LTE radio chip manufacturer they have an agreement with.
These APQ Snapdragon models are targeted more towards tablets and, I believe, have more bus bandwidth and their RAM clocked a fair bit faster than the MSM8X60 CPUs they're based on, so the performance should be pretty decent if that's what they're using.

Chinese Tablets?

Sorry if this is wrong forum, but I am looking at buying a tablet, and I was thinking about getting one of these cheapo chinese tablets.
The specs are higher than the specs for tablets made by samsung or motorola and for less than half the price so I was wondering what I should be looking for when deciding between one china tab and another one. Any tablets someone recommends running ICS?
Thanx!
You get what you pay for man...build quality and dev will be low
If you want to go cheap, you can just buy a used Nook Color for around $100.
You can also easily score a Dell Streak 7 or a Acer A100 for less than or around $200 on eBay.
There were refurb HTC Flyers posted a few weeks ago for 189$ shipped after coupon code...
Just shop around
I just did a post about a tablet I got on Amazon. It has to be Chinese made for the price, but I love it. Works great for me and seems to be a LOT like my friends Kindle fire. Here's the link to the thread with specs.
If you can, you should wait for the google tablet by Asus coming out in a few month. The price is not bad at all and I'm sure there's going to be a ton of Dev support.
Like dude said, with Chinese tablet you get what you pay for. Not worth it in the long run.

If you want performance, specs, and dev support on the cheap, you're going to want to pick up a HP Touchpad off CL or eBay. If you shop around you can get a 16 gb for around $150 and a 32 GB for about 2 bills.
10" screen, dual core, awesome speakers, dual boots Android ICS and WebOS, practically unbrickable. Made by a credible company who sporadically decided to stop making tablets and sell all of their stock for pennies on the dollar. That's going to be your best quality, cheap tablet.

I disagree. I was looking for a lower priced tablet, preferably running ics and have good support. I found www.eforchina.com and browsed thru their stuff. I found the Ainol novo 7 Elf. A 7" tabled running ics, with a cortex a8 allwinner cpu 1,2 ghz. 1gb of ddr3 ram, hdmi and usb ports. All that for 125 euro's. I figured i may be disappointed, but we'll see. When i got it, i couldnt be more pleased with it. Its fast, there is plenty of support, its got everything except a big pricetag. I know have three of these in my family. All work pefectly. Hope this helps.

Does the Galaxy tab 2 10.1 represent value for money at £250?

I am looking for a tablet as I will be travelling a little over the coming months. Looking at the Android tablets available at the moment I can't seem to find an 'ideal' tablet which is a shame. So my idea is to get something now that will tide me over until a suitable tablet becomes available. The Tab 2 10.1 retails at about £300 and with the £50 cashback offer Samsung are currently running takes it down to £250. Would you guys say that represents good value for money?
My friend has it and he is not happy. He now believes he should have gone for P3100.
May be you can check other available deals before shelling out your hard earned cash.
Good Luck !
Yes good value for money
The two best deals till now are asus transformer and this tab
Asus is better in terms of specifications
If you can not find a good deal to buy it go for this tab and install cyanogenmod 10 in it and buy 32 card and you are good to go that is what i did with my tab
Better to choose 5100 if avaliable as it contains 3g and phone functions if you need them
if you want 7 inch then better to buy 3100 for the same previous reason
but i like more 10 inch tab as my eyes are poor and i loved my previous ipad 9.7 inch screen

Hi thanks for the advice. 3g would be nice but the P5100 may be out of my budget. I may just settle for a Galaxy Tab 8.9 3g which is about £300 now...

Galaxy tab

What is a decent price for the galaxy tab and is it laggy or a good tablet for $250
Sent from AT&T Galaxy Note (The Machine)
Well I suppose it's the cheapest 10.1 variant at that price, but nothing compared to tablets running on Tegra 3. There's some lag here and there, sometimes in YouTube according to many users. For that price, I would personally rather get a Nexus 7.
Thx....i like Samsung though

If you don't care about TouchWiz, you can flash CM10 and it'll fly.

If your getting it for $250 (which to me is something like £180 ) it sounds like a good deal.
You'll have to know though that its not as smooth as the newer generation tegra 3 tabs and it does lag a little. I knew this buying mine but did so knowing that as soon as a stable/complete CM Rom comes out, I'm flashing it.
Any one who has tried the recent cm nightlys notices the massive speed improvements & it completely removes most of the lag.
In short its a good deal, you will probably be disappointed in it when you first get it butt as soon as the TW crap is thrown out you'll love it.

Thx...but i thought about asus....but heard that their customer support and service is absolutely horrible....i want a tablet bad...but didn't want to spend $500 for the note 10.1..i have a liking for Samsung products though

Worth Upgrading From Galaxy S3

I love my Galaxy S3 as it handles all the stuff that i want. But after S4 is launched i am knda confused whether to upgrade to Galaxy S4 as it is worth it or not? so what are your opinions about that?
Right now I honestly don't think so. It has a lot of cool features, but most of them are software related. The phone isn't a big enough jump from the s3 (for me) hardware wise to justify paying full retail for it.
Says on CNET that software features will also come to the S3. I guess we just have to wait unless someone can adapt the S4 rom to the S3.
AW: Worth Upgrading From Galaxy S3
If you got some cash to burn and want to always have the latest and greatest I think it is worth.
If none of these things apply to you then keep the S3. I take care of a S2 and apart from the screen resolution it is still cool.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
Nope, not worth the upgrade.
Same question here, I'll wait for the reviews before deciding whether to upgrade or no.
Isn't really a jaw dropping Samsung Flagship Device
Well for me, it definitely was not a surprise to have a glimpse of the Galaxy S4 at that, much melodramatic, musical event.
As far as the design is concerned, iPhone 5 and HTC One are definitely ahead of the S4.
Body Casing: The Galaxy S4 is crafted from poly-carbonated material while the OmniBalance design with which the Sony Xperia Z is equipped seems more attractive.
Display: The S4 has a 441 ppi display which lags behind the HTC One display which stands at 468 ppi. Even the resolution is matchable with the HTC flagship phone!
Samsung Hub: Sorry for this mate too. Nothing's better than the BlackBerry Hub, at least for now.
So overall, this phone is not the supreme king of the smartphones which exist today. I would say that at this moment, this was not required and the Sony, HTC and BlackBerry flagship devices are definitely a better option for you.
I'm thinking of selling my galaxy note 2 to buy an s4 is it worth it. I love the note 2 but I also like having the latest phones. I have an s2 still and love it. I'm always changing ROMs as i do with my note and have had no problem with them at all hmmm decisions decicions ?

Design is subjective, and after owning the beautiful, and well built Nexus 4, I have to admit that I'm missing the plastic I had on my Galaxy Nexus. My Galaxy Nexus survived countless drops, and still looks almost new. I've been extremely lucky with my Nexus 4.
PPI means nothing. They both have 1920x1080 displays, the SGS4 simply has a larger 4.99" panel while the HTC One has a 4.7" panel.
The international version is ahead of both the HTC One and iPhone 5 with its Exynos 5 Octa, and more importantly its PowerVR SGX544MP3 GPU that's clocked at 533mhz.
It is really not worth upgrading at all - software things are coming to SGS4 - nothing new.
Hardware - also nothing :\
Buy a new computer/TV or something or wait till the next galaxy. Try HTC maybe (something different).
Im only upgrading because I have a Verizon SIII and I'm leaving the US in 3 weeks. I'm gonna need an international version although the VZW SIII works overseas.
AW: Worth Upgrading From Galaxy S3
The S3 will never have an IR-BLASTER.

Yeah that octa core cpu with a some a15's is not worth it.. so is the 1080p screen and the powervr gpu. Lolz
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
Not upgrading for at least six months from now, will wait for all good reviews and then decide.. Also, considering first round of price drops..
If someone has an s3 then the upgrade is not worth immediately...
If coming from any other phone.. S4 will be a good option...
Imagine s4 without comparing it to s3...then you will see it to be a marvellous piece of gadget.. That's my verdict...!

I don't think I will be upgrading to the 4. But it still has some time to redeem itself from that idiotic joke of a keynote.
Just waiting for the reviews.
If you have the $$$ and dont care how much you spend I'd say go for it. I'm pretty content with my GS3 so I'll hold off upgrading for now
For people like me with a 2011 phone, I'd say it is definitely worth upgrading to. But for people with HTC one x/s3/other top phones of 2012 just wait until something better comes out at CES 2014

Depends on your carrier. If I was a betting man, I'm betting the radio on the Verizon one sucks so I'd be more likely to pick the DNA. That being said if by some miracle after more than one useless Samsung phone on Verizon e.g. Galaxy Nexus, if the receiver/antenna is actually fixed I would consider it as the PDA side of their phone is great. If you are on another carrier besides Verizon the phone might work well. It seems like Samsung hates Verizon for some reason.
