Since this is General, I hope this thread is relevant.
Proud owner of a new Tab 2 7.0 as of yesterday.
Just want to do a general check in and see who else is lurking in the woodwork. I have been an xda lurker for some time, starting with the HTC Hero, then EVO 4G, Epic 4G, Nexus S, Epic Touch (GS2), and finally the Galaxy Tab 2 7.0.
I have been wanting to get a tablet for some time, but they have always seemed out of my reach financially. I love tech stuff, and am an android addict (tongue twister...). Seems the Tab 2 is taking a beating from many tech review sites, especially the 10.1. But I have to say, at $250, I think the 7" is a solid Tablet. I was so close to getting the Kindle, and if it hadn't missed the refurb sale for mother's day (they were going for $140), I would probably be a proud but somewhat reluctant kindle fire owner. The kindle fire is a nice piece of tech, and it really grounded the market for tablets I think. $200 seems the price that will appeal to the wider audience, not just the well-to-do. The extra $50 for the mic, cameras, bluetooth, and expandable memory was a no brainer for me.
In any case, loving my new Tab 2 7.0. Anyone else in the same boat? Anyone else excited to see what goodies the devs who will eventually start to trickle in can do with the Tab 2?
Let's get some life in here!
Love this tablet! Stepped up from the Kindle Fire to this Best bang-for-the-buck on the market today. At this point though, although I love the "idea" of rooting, I haven't had a real reason to do so -- the device works perfect for my needs right out of the box.
Yeah, I haven't rooted yet. I will once a nice selection of roms start popping up in the dev section. I saw AOKP has a release, 36 I believe. I loaded AOKP on my gf's nexus s and it has been pretty good, with the exception of a few bugs here and there.
I am interested in using a different launcher, but I am trying to conserve space and performance on the tablet. I think the thing that is going to push me to root will be when Apps 2 SD finally works. Let's face it: 8 Gb of space, with only 4 available to the user is just plain paltry in 2012. That's the primary gimp of this device. I have a 16 gig micro sd, but it's pretty much useless at the moment. I need my Titanium backup + APPS2SD. Trust me, when you start running out of space, which is bound to happen, that "idea" of rooting will become a reality for you.
The processor on this and the KF are virtually the same. I think it's the extra features that really make this stand out in comparison to the KF, not to mention ICS of course. Can't stand KF's interface.
I first bought the Kindle fire just for fun, Then I started
playing with android for the first time and was a believer.
I returned it about a week and got the 7" Galaxy Tablet.
Welcome to the fold. I have been on board since Eclair on the HTC Hero. I have been an android fan for quite a while and we have come a long way. This is my first tablet, and I'm loving it.

Apex is an excellent free launcher available in the app store -- only a few megs I believe. As for the need for App2SD, totally depends on your usage -- for example I use this device for media consumption -- books/movies/music. I've only loaded a few apps since the tab does those functions out-of-the-box already. It seems that "larger" applications are usually games, most others that fall outside of gaming are relatively small in which case 4.5gb is lots of space. My 32GB microSD card works perfect for holding the music/movie content. (Though FAT32 has a single filesize limit of 4GB which is a prob for some).
KFire still has a lot going for it in terms of pricing. As of today you can buy them used between 100-150 dollars and the port of ICS to it is pretty far along. In a few months I bet you'll be able to get them for $100 used and have a fully functional ICS experience available

Not trying to disagree with you, but most phones have had apps to sd for a long time. I'm not exactly sure what the rationale is behind not having apps 2 sd right out of the box. My ipod touch 2nd gen from 2009 had 16 gigs. So yeah, i would say that 8 gb in 2012 is kind of pathetic, esp since samsung was trying to one up the kindle fire.
I have never been a fan of Apps2sd, because a lot of apps do not run properly or are slower from sd. Running things off of removable memory often times corrupts data. Internal memory is optimum way to run apps. Also apps do not take up as much internal memory as one thinks.
I do agree though that the tab 2 should have more internal memory. 8gbs is ok though, if you are not filling it up with tons of movies and mp3.
I got into the Android scene with the Cliq XT then shortly after i bought a Samsung Vibrant and have flashed nearly every rom for it. I have finally settled on the updated Bionix froyo rom and everything just works!
I set my sights on getting a tablet and i had bought the Kindle Fire and rooted it and played with it for barely a week when i walked by a GTab2 and did a double take when i saw the price haha. Needless to say i returned the KF to watch the Avengers and anxiously awaited my next paycheck to fund the difference and got the GTab2! Very satisfied with the device!
Im pursuing a degree in information systems and plan to get into programming. I hope to be able to contribute to the Android community! Nice to meet all of you!

I too had a kindle fire for about 3 weeks. Once the tab 2 came out I unrooted the KF and brought it right back to best buy. Tab 2 rocks!

Satisfied thus far
Hi, all. I picked up my GT2 7 yesterday and have to say that I am quite pleased.
I have been watching the reviews of this device (both user and "pro") for a few weeks now, and decided to take the plunge. It is my first Samsung Tablet (I currently own a Prime, Xoom Wifi, Kindle Fire, iPad 2, and Dell Streak 7).
Since it is my first Samsung, it is taking me a bit to get used to the Samsung tweaks to the UI (in fact, not crazy at all about them seeing that I have ICS Prime and on the Xoom Wifi).
My observations thus far:
1 - It is quite quick. Surprised me here, as several reviews said it wasn't. I cannot see noticeable differences from the other devices I use.
2 - Wifi is a little iffy - It often registers 1-2 bars when I am quite close to my routers in my house (I will test at my workplace today). I will have to report back on this - it does not appear that speeds are effected.
3 - The devices feels good, though honestly it feels a bit heftier to me than it should, but that is not a deal breaker.
Basically, I wanted to replace the Fire with a nice 7" ICS device, and think I have accomplished that. The Fire will be sold.

I just came from the asus tf300 16gb. i liked it but the unit felt too 'fragile'. when i would flex it a little you could feel it give and i didn't like that in a $380 tablet. i traded it back to best buy within the 30day period and got the galaxy tab2 10.1 and must say, best decision. very fast and sturdy build. i feel like i have a device that is worth the money i paid for.
Hi, I got my Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 yesterday and I love it! I was thinking of buying either an Acer Iconia A510 or the Asus TF300, but read about some problems with the A510. I didn't really consider the GT2 since it is 'only' a dual-core. Then I started thinking about what I wanted a tablet for, which is mostly browsing, spotify and some videos/movies. When I saw the GT2 screen I was sold, really really beautiful and I haven't noticed the sluggishness some reviewers talk about. I should probably mention though that in The Netherlands the GT2 is actually quite a bit cheaper than the Asus TF300: 350 euro's (438 dollars) and 400 euro's (500 dollars) respectively.
Hi, my name's Jim. This is my first tablet and I must say, I'm very impressed - especially for the price paid (£199). Currently using this alongside my HTC Rezound. I've still not rooted it yet as I haven't had any reason too (I rooted my old HTC Sensation XL before I'd even left the store that I bought it from lol). Everything seems to be working great. Wi-Fi is a little sketchy but it still receives packets nice and quickly.
I'm a great fan of ROM flashing so hopefully development for our device will pick up quickly.
I was surprised to see that someone had already ported CM9 to our tablet!
Anyway, here's my "hi" to all you folks and hopefully we can all help to make our badass tablet even better!
Thanks,
Jim

New Tab 2 User
Sooo many devices and just picked up this unit at Costco while I was in the US for $238 incl oem pouch.
For tablets, I'm sticking with this size form factor. I have the asus tf101, 2 playbooks, touchpad (sold), ipad 3, amd various smartphones in my family.
This unit is snappy and easy to hold as well type. The playbook is nice too if you have a blackberry but there is really an insufficient amount of apps.
The ir remote is a big plus as I wasn't expecting to use it but when I played around with it, it was better than my harmony remote.
The screen is a bit on the bland side but at this price, can't really complain.
Wifi death hold on the lower left side is present but I just flip it around and have the speakers face up for typing.
If I want 10 inch, I rather use my netbook...more practical.
Picked up the 7" tab on Saturday to go along with my Galaxy Nexus and I can safely say I have finally retired my TF101. On stock this thing is smooth as hell and the battery lasts forever, and so far no random rebooted or sleep of deaths (check the tf101 forums). I got this tablet because it feels sturdy and looks good. Hope to get to know all you guys over the next however many years I use this tablet.
Also, on AOKP right now and even with no hardware acceleration and a hit in battery it may be worth it to continue having a stock ICS experience.

Got my Tab 2 7.0 a week ago....been on PCs forever, but brand new to tablets.
So far, so good. Got this primarily to use as an e-reader and mess-around machine on a long trip planned to Alaska.
Question- how exactly do I get movies onto this thing to watch on a flight?
thnx
Hello. Name is Scott. I'm a 36 year old father of two from Texas. I'm a professional glazier (Glass guy) and I worked for years as an installer at Custom Sounds here. I drive a Mercedes Benz and I'm very proud of it. Won a dozen or so trophies with it.
My first Droid was an HTC Hero. I wore that sucker out and then I got an Evo 4G. I pre-ordered it and was the first around to get one. I then switched to ATT and got an Infuse 4G. I still have it and love it. By the time another year goes by and I can get my upgrade I can just imagine what super awesome Samsung device I'll be able to buy.
Being an old school Unix guy from the 90's I just love the way Android is built. I have a vast knowledge of FreeBSD, Linux and OpenBSD. I might start creating things for Android, apps and such. I just don't have the time. Wife, kids and work keep me pretty tied up busy.
I'm glad we have such a good bunch of devs and users so far for the GT2. Good to be here.
new here!
Hi, i'm John. I'm from the Netherlands, 48 years of age and bought my first ever tablet 2 days ago. It's a Tab 2 10.1 with 16gb memory.
So far i'm very happy with it.
As i'm not afraid to experiment a little bit, i've searched the internet to see if there were allready custom roms for my tab. That's why i've landed on this forum
Found out the method to root my P5110 and that went flawlessly.
Then yesterday the clean rom was introduced by sgrant. I've flashed it and that went well also.
A big thanks to Weltwon en SGrant for their instructions on how to root my tab and install the custom rom.
One question: after i've flashed the custom rom, my tab says in the about device info that it's a P5113 instead of the P5110 it was originally. Could that cause any kind of problem?
I understand that the change of modelnumber is caused by flashing the rom from sgrant who build this on a P5113 model.
Grtz,
John
I am thinking about switching from my rooted KF to a Nexus 7.
I like the increased processing power and memory along with BT and a GPS chip.
Getting Jelly Bean is icing on the tablet.
I will use my KF as a permanenty hooked Pandora player for me home audio system.
Anyone else thinking about switching from KF to Nexus 7?
Absolutely NOT.... lol
I am currently selling my 2 iPods on CL, I'm hoping not to sell my Kindle Fire, but I might have too.
I really want the Nexus 7

I would wait to see what a 2nd generation Kindle Fire would have to offer.
I'm torn between selling my KF, keeping it, and getting the Nexus 7 (N7).
I decided I'd wait for Amazon to respond with their KF2. Though I can use USB OTG on both the KF and N7, is KF2 had the addition of Bluetooth, GPS, Camera, Mic, and a Micro SD card slot, then this could be a real new competitor.
Also, I really dislike how slow the internal memory on the KF is.
I sold my kf yesterday and pre ordered a nexus on launch day. I would have waited for the kindle fire 2 but I have a feeling the kf2 could have a locked boot loader.

i have a Nexus 7 on pre-order (through JR.com no tax free shipping, before the Slickdeals effect rippled through, we'll see if the pre-order actually sticks), but am tossed up on whether to sell the KF or simply keep it b/c i bought it during the last $139 refurbished Amazon sale and it's still awesome w/ the various CM9 ROMs and great Dev support here. truth be told, the KF w/ CM9 (currently running twa_priv's SGT7 build) does everything i need. don't need the mic or front camera, KF is more than snappy enough for my daily use, screen resolution @ my normal viewing distances is perfectly fine, etc.

Same here. I want the Nexus 7 just because its a nexus, but considering how little I use my KF its not worth the time/effort to sell it and buy a N7
I'll definitely be going after the Nexus tab... Worth it for the "Nexus" part at the least... Going to roll the fire back to stock and give it to a relative...
I preordered because I know the development is gonna be super alive. I'm keeping my kfire cuz it was cheap but the N7 is everything I wish the kfire was. I love what the kfire has become but I need bluetooth, I've learned to live without it but its something I've had a hard tine letting go.
I have 4 otg cables and multiple usb drives and bluetooth adapters. I'm dedicated, but still miss certain features lol

I love the KF especially due to all the hard work hascode and everyone else have put into getting ICS to work, but I pre-ordered the N7 as soon as I could. The N7 is closer to what I want in a tab. I'm going to let the kids use the KF for a gaming platform and I'll continue to flash the latest and greatest builds on it.
im not switching because im way too caught up in porting JellyBean.... Maybe sometime later i will CONSIDER the Nexus 7
sod it i'm having both (if i can install new motherboard on bricked one)
the kindle is a great device for tinkering/learning but that N7 look's super

If I could get a good price for my Fire, I would sell it, but some "dealer" is flooding CL with $75-80 Kindle Fire's, so there is no chance of getting a good price for it.
So if I'm going to buy a tablet outright again, it has to have everything I want...which means MicroSD/SD slot. No more compromises for me.
I am saving up for a surface pro. Kindle fire is my really portable tablet that does everything I need it to, I can't play prime on N7 and I don't own any google music. It's all on Amazon. I am not a fan of any particular corporation. I go with my needs and my need not to waste money. Kindle was the right prize last November and I didn't have a tablet. N7 is the right prize now but not the right time, I already have a table that does what I want. My next tablet will hopefully replace my aging laptop. (I hope!).
Not right now for me. KF does everything I need/want. I COULD use a FFC but I have my Rezound, laptop, and desktop for that so there's really no point. I'll put it this way: When a $199 tablet comes out with everything I want (N7 is missing removable storage), then I'll upgrade. As it stands, the N7 isn't a big enough leap forward.

The Motorola Xoom. Of all android tablets, it was the experiment; the first ever of its kind. Winner of Best Of Show at CES 2011. Pioneer of Android Honeycomb. I bought this spectacle of computing technology the day it came out in the US, on March 27th, 2011. While I was watching loads of coverage from CES, and even afterwards, I anticipated what the Xoom would be like. Proponents of it were saying it would be great, that it would be able to keep up with the iPad. Critics of the Xoom, and android alike, were saying it was inferior, and would not get many sales. When I finally got my hands on one, (the last one in stock for a few days at my local Staples), I was blown away. Of course, there were few apps for it at first, but I am a patient person and knew more apps would come for it in the future. For months, I used it daily, along side my laptop. I tethered it to my Droid 2 (also Motorola ), which I had a grandfathered unlimited data plan. I took it with me as much as I could, and used it at school daily. I look back on that time and chuckle at myself; I stayed on the stock ROM, since I was afraid to flash/unlock bootloader/etc. Once I got enough courage to do it, I realized that my Motorola Xoom could do so much more. More months went by, and more tablets came out. The Galaxy Tab. Asus Transformer. HTC Flyer. Motorola Droid Xyboard. I realized how much more technology was seemed (and advertised) to have been put in these; however, I looked at my Xoom, and saw that it was keeping up. Even the processors of new tablets were increasingly better, but the Xoom (and it's workhorse Tegra 2) was staying in the game. My stock rooted honeycomb was still a daily driver, months and months after it came out. Even with the introduction of quad core android tablets, like the Transformer Prime, Xoom was staying around. And then i experienced TeamEOS. It was the first ROM i flashed for my xoom. TeamEOS's ICS rom. Faster than ever before, I was overjoyed that my Xoom had new life. Fast forward to now, with the introduction of Jellybean. The Xoom is still one of the very first devices to receive the OTA. This shows that the Xoom will still be at the front of Android tablet technology for a very long time.
tl;dr: The Motorola Xoom, which I bought on day 1, is still one of THE best Android tablets in the world. Mine runs TeamEOS 3.0 Nightlies, and will for a very long time.
I love my Xoom and TeamEOS :good::laugh:
Thanks for all the work guys!
PS. I flashed TeamEOS the first day I received my Xoom.
realistically though, I give the Xoom a year to a year and a half before it starts becoming obsolete
all I can say is, I love my xoom.
But I´m a little dissapointed with moto´s customer/update service.
I know you guys in the US got the official ICS update long ago.
I´m from germany and we have the mz601 aka the Euro 3g/umts version with mobile data.
The only official update we got was from 3.1 to 3.2.HC.
We would be totaly screwed if there was no Team EOS.
EOS releasing the latest JellyBean Nightlys for the euro model gives me 4.1 before official moto even rolled out ICS over here.
Considering the xoom got hyped and is still considered as a Google Experience Device this kinda sucks.
Anyway, since Team EOS is around, I´m a happy xoom owner and I see the hardware nowhere near its limits, leaving plenty of room
for performance upgrades with upcoming android releases or dev tweaks.
A very good review - I fell in love with the Xoom based upon the CES show and knew I needed one - and one I bought.
I bght the WiFi only one, the plucked up the courage to root and there has been no looking back. I recently bought a second hand 3G Xoom and gave my WiFi one to my younger brother and we are an unstoppable force.
This device really exceeded my expectations and truly has kept up - I do however wish that Motorola had provided these updates - who nows they could offer the developers on here programmer and developer jobs - then we would see fast worldwide updates.

I agree. I use my Xoom everyday and I love it. I didn't think I needed a tablet until I got my Xoom. I am also running Team EOS and love it.

I bought my WiFi Xoom the day they went on sale & use it everyday. I have not rooted mine yet as stock ICS (soon to be stock JB) work fine for me. The Xoom has a fantastic build & having a GED unit can't be beat. I have no need for any other Android Tablets. The next Tablet for me will be the Surface Pro.
I concur! I've never figured out why it has been panned by so many critics though! I never thought I'd use it for more than e-books originally but the VERY first time I saw it at Costco (and just happened to have my tax refund in my pocket) I instantly got it (3G/WiFi). I use it everyday, more than I thought I ever would. I'm a web designer and I actually find that showing my designs to clients works very well and I hardly ever bring my Mac Book Pro to meetings.
I think I'll be using my Xoom for a long time still. A couple of times I thought about getting something newer but every time I find my Xoom matches or beats the alternatives.
(And yes I do read a lot of e-books on it!)

Part of my initial beef with the launch of and the way this device was being handled was that I saw the potential for this device and jumped on it immediately. The lack of LTE until 6 months after launch made me want to punch the responsible party in the throat. I was fairly disappointed about the way USB and SD cards are being handled but am pretty confident in the community's ability to improve that. I think it sucks that their efforts are being wasted on what should be core functionality instead of cutting edge things this device was meant for.
I have run this device hard and hung it up wet. I believe that I have gotten my money's worth. I use this thing everyday. It isn't quite the geospatial data collection tool I had envisioned it being but I blame most of that on my hatred of the cloud and failings as a developer who can't really do much from scratch. Once ESRI fleshed out its Android API, I'll be able to adjust my vectors via my tablet.

I've got a confession to make. I just got my new 16 GB Nexus 7 today. As always, these things are fun to unbox and play with, but I can already tell it's not as nice as my Xoom. Perhaps things will change over time but, if pressed, I'd keep the Xoom over the Nexus.

How is the speed on the N7, compared to the Xoom? Like, overall UI and game performance
I bought two of the 32gb WiFi versions last Christmas. I use my Xoom daily and I love it. Probably the greatest thing among many excellent points about the device is battery life. It may be chunkier than most tabs but it's got one of the largest batteries of any tablet.
Being a GED, it's still a solid choice for those in the market for a tablet. Refurbs can be had cheap making them a real bargain.

Yep, I got a Nexus 10, so I'm doing a little trade with XDAer cdromo90 for a little Nexus 7. He wants to give the XOOM to his nephew for a larger screen, and I will probably give the N7 to my nephew for his birthday in a couple of months (his mom got a Kindle Fire for Christmas, and I think he's been bitten by the Android bug, so I want to make sure he gets off to a good start! )
As one of the very first people to own the very first Android tablet, I have to say it's been a great ride. I was one of the lucky ones who got a VZW 3G XOOM on day one at a discounted price ($200 off) due to a glitch in Motorola's system (You guys remember THAT? Ha! Still one of the best deals I've ever gotten hands down!). It was my first experience as an early adopter of any device, and I have to say it's been a great experience! To see Android tablets come from Honeycomb and grow up to Jellybean really made me appreciate being on the cutting edge. Not only has the XOOM gotten better with every Android update, but even to this day I feel like it's still good enough for a daily driver even with all of the new tablets coming out, not to mention I still think it's the best built, best looking tablet to this day (I love the N10, and a few other tablets have been ok looking, but the XOOM is just a marvelously well built piece of technology.) With custom Jelly Bean ROMS and the ability to overclock it, I felt like it still had a good amount of life left in it, and I'm happy to pass it along to someone who will still use and enjoy it instead of it sitting in my closet as a backup.
So, off I ride into the sunset. So long, XOOMers!
My old wifi Xoom
Team EOS is keeping my Xoom interesting with their Jellybean 4.2 nightlies. There still isn't much I can't do with this old tablet. And like you said it's still the best built and best looking tablet around .

I agree, but I jumped to the N10 when I began to doubt the Xoom would get 4G with JB 4.2. I'm glad I was wrong on that, but now I wpn't give up the incredible resolution on the N10.
The Xoom is definitely showing its age but its been pretty awesome to see its performance increase from 3.x to 4.0 to 4.1.
Enjoy the Nexus 10, I'm mildly jealous but I'm waiting for next year's nexus 10" and really hoping its built by Motorola.
Funny enough I can't see myself parting with my Xoom. It may overtaken by newer devices but it is a fine solid bit of kit and can just be retasked to other duties. I saw one being built into a car as a multimedia centre. There will always be a use for it until it dies

My XOOM is my baby and I'll never let her go. That is, unless, maybe Motorola decides to build a worthy successor. I refuse to say the Xyboard is even a thing.
I just sold my 4g Xoom for $225. I will surely miss it. I am sad tonight.
yep. i just leave my Xoom goodbye yesterday. I bought nexus 7 3g and I'm really happy. the top reasons to consider nexus 7 are: less hand fatigue, 100 % so portable, fast software update, good customer support( service centre just in front of my house), its an Asian product and cheap. reasons to dump Xoom: lack of software update, Motorola doesn't keep their promises, bulky, hand fatigue, not really portable, most of all, hard to play games especially when pressing button. so goodbye xoomers.

I thought about selling my Xoom when the nexus 10 came out. I decided to keep it and avoid the hassle of selling the Xoom. Also decided to buy a nexus 7. Really happy that I decided to keep the Xoom. I really like the fact that I have the LTE Verizon version. Also like the fact that it has a camera (and a pretty decent one at that) and HDMI out. It is starting to show is age a bit, but it's no doubt a well built quality device. I'm sure we'll never see key like pie, but Team EOS and CyanogenMod have kept the Xoom relevant with their hard work on 4.2. I'll be keeping mine for at least another year.

I'm tempted to purchase a new tablet but my xoom is just so well built and still works extremely well for my casual usage although its showing its age. I'm more tempted to buy a galaxy s4/note3 when they release then a new tablet though.

Just ordered a Nexus 10... But hanging onto my XOOM just in case... Should be interesting. I think I'll miss my built in MicroSD Card Reader the most...

I love new gadgets and some of the new tablet screens look great but I haven't found anything I can't do on my old xoom. Getting itchy for a new toy/tool but will keep my xoom. I did give up on paying Verizon for data especially when they can't be bothered to update the software and support their customers. I will never buy another Verizon branded tablet. Many thanks to our developers for keeping my xoom up to speed.

Same. For someone who has never owned a tablet, it's great. Reading is a pleasure.

for me xoom is one of the best old tablet. i have use it for more then 1 year. but, one thing for sure, when i play games or reading when i hold it, makes my hand fatigue, therefore i cant hold it for too long. so i decided to buy nexus 7, and that is a wise decision

My XOOM entered Hall of Fame, I will never let it gone.
As I did do the same with my Casio Agenda, HP 24C, HP 48G (it was stolen, unfortunately) and my Palm Life Drive.
Enviado de meu XOOM MZ605 (Android 4.2.2 pelo Team EOS 4).
Wow same here...just got the nexus 7 and looking to sell my xoom. It has been great and still is.

I am on EOS4 build184on my WiFi Xoom and its running perfectly. I'm overclocked to 1600Mhz and its running smooth and fast. JB 4.2.1 is not meant to run on this old processor but Team EOS has managed to make my Xoom run like the best of tablets. I do have to mention the fact that I am using a 3rd party keyboard and Nova launcher to get past some of the shortcomings of this old hardware but I'm satisfied with it.
Let me start by saying that I love my Xoom. I have loved it since the day I paid almost $900 for it. ($799 plus 9.25% sales tax here in Tennessee) I will be the first to say that it was not perfect at first, but through official OTA updates and third party ROMs, my Xoom has become the perfect companion and tool that I use at least 4-6 hours every day. Currently running Team EOS nightly ROM 163, Android 4.2.1 Jelly Bean at 1.5 Ghz, and this thing runs as well as any tablet I have ever used. My only complaint is that the screen could be better, but at least it does not have the light bleed that a lot of IPS screened tablets have. We liked it so much that my wife also picked up a wifi Xoom for herself and uses it several hours a day as well.
I recently purchased a Fujitsu Q702 Windows 8 tablet for less than what I paid for my Xoom. My first inclination was to sell the Xoom because I thought I might not use it as much. Only time will tell, but this I know...the Xoom has been one heck of a device and worthy of being call my "Little Buddy"!

scared....
So here is the deal. I LOVE my Xoom and see very little difference between what is out now and what I can do. However. There are some features of jellybean that I like on my razr m that I would love to do on my Xoom. So a friend of mine told me about this site and I am sooo overwhelmed. Is it possible that you could either help me upgrade my Xoom to jellybean. Maybe just show me some threads. I am tech savvy. But stopped doing alterations when windows xp first came out, because I always got the bad files and decided it wasn't worth the aggregation. Now I am willing to open my mind again.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
You will have to root your xoom to get the best of it, try this link for how to info...http://forum.xda-developers.com/sitesearch.php?q=how to root xoom
