Picture Question - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello guys, my dad has just bought a nexus 7, and I must admit it is a really nice device.
However there are some pictures on it and we cant find how to delete them, i have even been in the system files using astro.
I have also hooked it up to a computer and still cant find them, however they show up in the gallery of the device.
Any ideas?
Thanks

Showing nothing in there, been and had a look in there already thinking it was in there

maybe its pictures that have been uploaded to g+/picasa, they will show in the gallery even though they arent in your device.

You can delete pictures using the stock gallery app. Open the picture then tap on it and you should see a trash icon at the top right. If they are in an album, just long-press on it to see the trash icon.

Disable syncing of Google Photos in settings/accounts/Google.
Then, delete the cache folder in/sdcard/Pictures. That's where they are stored.

Gallery pictures disappering or corrupt HELP!

Hello All,
I been having problems with my Gallery photos. It seems like they disappear or does not want to show as if it is corrupted. Photos that are saved on computer and moved to my SD card most of the show up and the ones that will not show up is there when i select it in the gallery (but not show up as an icon).
But recent photos taken with nexus camera will show up but then a day or so it will disappear (icon will not show up in gallery) and when i click on the blank icon it will not show up at all (as if it is corrupted). As soon as I take a picture with the nexus camera I can go to the gallery and select it and click on it to enlarge the picture but its after a day or so it disappears.
So I drag the missing pictures to my desktop on my laptop and it says picture can not be shown. What happen to my recent photos taken with my camera phone? Please help.
I have tried killing the gallery app and still no luck and also restarting the phone.
thanks

Not sure if this is against the rules to bring up an old thread but.. atleast i used the search function!
Im having this problem on my Galaxy S2.. and... is it sure that theres a problem in the internal sdcard?
Can it not be fixed by some different kind of reformat or something?
Or do i just need to go somewhere and have the sdcard replaced.
Try replacing your SD card? that at least eliminates one possibility.

[Q] Adding a folder to the Gallery

I've used FolderSync to sync the photos from my Rezound onto my Nexus, they are in the Pictures folder, but none of the pictures show up in the Gallery app. It doesn't seem like there is a way to add a folder to the Gallery app unless I've missed it. Does anyone know of a way to add the Pictures folder to the Gallery app? Or will I have to move the pics to the DCIM folder? Thanks!

I can't be the only one who has tried adding photos to my tablet, can I?
the gallery app should pick up all images in the device.. It scans for them and links to them as they are created or put onto the device..
mine isn't doing this. I've opened the Gallery app and hit refresh and it still isn't picking them up.

I have the same problem on mine. I've copied a directory of photos, under /sdcard/Pictures/test, hit refesh and they will not appear in Gallery.
The only photos that appear in Gallery are those from "Download", "Profile Pictures" and "Scrapbook Photos".
Normally it's automatic.
Silly question: have you restarted your Nexus 7?

I'm having the same problem, but it only picks up my Picasa photos. I but then when I don't sync my Picasa photos the Picasa photos still show up.. I restarted several times... Any solution?
Me too
I also have copied 2 folders to the picture directory which gallery does not see.
AND nothing else opens individual pics either. ES Image, FE Image, nor Image gallery.
I don't know if it matters.....These are .tif files.
Thanks

Picasa Web Albums

So, for the life of me, I can't get Picasa Web Albums to show up in the Gallery app. Its also not in the sync list under Settings->Accounts & Sync->my account. I was able to "share" photos with "Picasa" but it still doesn't show up.
I'm on CM10 and experience the same behavior with my CM10'd HOX, but stock JB did the same thing.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Billy

It's called Google Photos now...
Settings -> Under Accounts -> Google -> Click on your account (top) -> Check on "Google Photos"
Don't see Google photos as an option.

Find a copy of the 8-10 gapps. The 7-26 ones don't have photo sync.

I'll try that since I don't have a "photos" option in the sync menu either. Goo.im doesn't have a gapps from 8/10 but I found this one on devhost: http://d-h.st/VIG I'm gonna try it tomorrow. I'll report back.

You should change system application. Change "gallery2.apk" to "Gallerygoogle.apk".
I uploaded Gallerygoogle.apk. You should put this application in System folder, fix permission as 644 and put it in System/App folder.
You must remove Gallery2. And then you should launch a new gallery application, go to preference and sync with your google account.
Good Luck

I've just the opposite problem, can't figure out how to stop those pics in picasa web from showing up in gallery. I've disabled Google photos and instant upload syn, clear gallery app data and cache then those pics were gone for a while but came back later if the gallery get refresh. Google photos stays untick but it sync anyway.

You have to delete /sdcard/pictures/cache. That's where they are stored.

Is it possible to get PicSync working again while still keeping the functionality of the CM10 camera?
Thanks,

Problems with moving files around

Hi everyone, so I have fx file browser and I use it to manage files on my phone. I download some pictures and do screenshots of some funny pictures, and I want to move them all to their own file. So I made a file, and moved them all to that file. I go to gallery, but I still see that those pictures are in the downloads and screenshots folder. So I clear data with the gallery, reboot, and still they haven't moved to the new folder I made. It has been 3 days since I have done this, and the pictures still show up in the downloads and screenshots folder, while fx says that they are all in the new folder. Any ideas on how to fix this??
Thanks!

You created a new Folder (not file). For your pictures. Did you copy them to the new folder or cut and paste them? I'm thinking you copied them. If you copied them Gallery will still find them in the old location.
Using your file explorer, find your new folder, open it, cluck on a picture, open with Gallery. Gallery should find them after that.
Try a media scanner from play store

(.folder) I come from an S3 so I had a microsd card which I sorry miss but I had transferred everything without issue but once I added a new photo too the folder it now shows up in my gallery. Resetting the cache on gallery and reboot has not helped.

Try creating a blank file .nomedia inside the folder. Then the Gallery wont read it.

Thanks but that didn't do it unfortunately. A reset of the gallery and a reboot got rid of the new photo. But once I put a new one in there it again appeared in gallery.

using the stock gallery? why not long press and hit hidden folders.. you can then hide it.

^^^ What he said. But still, strange that the .nomedia trick didn't work. Worked on mine. But I haven't added any new pics to the folder, though
