Buying N7 - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
I went to purchase the N7 yesterdy, after returning to the purchase page for the tenth time lol.
And as my luck is terrible, it is now out of stock.
Just out of curiosity does anyone have any idea how long it usually takes google to restock them?
Thanks people

I was going to purchase from a Local Store, but they only have the 16 GB version and I'm a cheapskate and wanted the 8GB

Well being cheap will prob cost u in the long run, out of the box the 8gb model will only have about 5.5gb of available storage. Down the road you'll be wishing u got the 16
Sent from my Rooted, LazyPanda, White "Destroy Mode" Evo

I would pay the extra $50 and buy it locally with the 16gb. Even that only has 13gigs free.

What page ?
they are both showing in stock receive in 2-5 days... Do not understand the 10 times .. If your that unsure ask your WIFE Or girl friend if its ok.. Then she might just say yes .. GIGGLES :fingers-crossed:

I'm c cheap too, but in the end I got a 16 gb, 8gb is too small for me, since I have quite some large games.

Thanks all much appreciated, girlfriend says the same just get the 16gb
Shall pop down to HMV/Argos and purchase one today/tomorrow.
Just hope I don't get a defective one, else that will really piss me off and throw me away from Android altogether.
Already decided I'm never purchasing HTC again as they are just ridiculous, I cannot understand how HTC can sell a phone, for the same price you can get a car, and send it out to their customers with so many issues. Then when you send it for fix, they **** it up even more.

Thats interesting, you and I have had wildly different experiences with HTC, haha. But dont let a random hardware manufacturer turn you away from the android software. They are two very different things.

[Lost Nexus] There is yet hope! Nexus just on Wifi?

Yep, thats the bad news today folks.
After loosing it I am forced to call on my insurance and get a new one. Now thats all well and good, but due to recent financial problems I am going to have to instead stick it on ebay.co.uk and flog it for as much as I can.
Just wanted to say bye to you Nexus folk....
If anyone wants to buy it off me instead let me know. Is UK model, fully unlocked of course.
I am now going to go cry a little....

LoL You have TWO kidneys ONE Nexus You've to decide
--: UPDATE :--
Right, that lost phone I had... HAS NOW BEEN FOUND!
However, I now have a problem. I now have 2 Nexi (that the plural?). However, the one that I lost has been black listed and wont work with a Sim inside, but does work as an ipod touch would. Just miles better as its awesome.
So my question is this, can I live with my nexus one just having Wifi? And whats the best way to go about with this. I could really do with the extra £400 odd selling my unboxed Nexus will get me. However, I wonder if I got a cheap phone just for calls and texts, if I could get my Wifi Nexus to work just like having a call capable nexus would be? Is it going to be to much of a compromise?
Cheers,
Sell your phone to someone in the US. They don't blacklist them here.

That... that right there is an Idea.... Never thought of that.
Means I get a brand new Nexus AND Money for my other nexus... You are a genius!
isnt it fraud if you got your insurance money but then "find" your lost/stolen phone?
Well when I found it, I called up my provider... but the guy on the line said just to keep it. Had to pay a big excess, so maybe thats why.
EDIT: Maybe thats why I never thought of selling it abroad... I do think that is illegal. But my excess was like £300 for it... almost not worth it... >_>. Will just stick with using it as a wifi device I think.
Well, you could use it as a VOIP phone...
ill buy it!! let me know how much u want for it, in USD
does the nexus one have wireless N? most new phones have that.
edit: found out that it doesn't
You can get the phone un-blacklisted, just call your provider. They may need a letter from your insurance company.
If you have one to sell, new or blacklisted, pm me with an amount in sterling or euro.

[SOLD] Bought A500 for store to take CC, Square doesn't work.

I bought the Iconia during the Staples sale (pm by OD) in order to take credit card payments for my store. However, Squarepay doesn't play nice with it, so I need to sell.
I can't return because it has been past the 14 day return window and since it is open, OD will charge a 15% restocking fee.
I paid $326 for it and have only used it for a total of maybe an hour (to try and get Squarepay working).
I'm offering it up for forum members here at $300 shipped within the U.S.
Everyone play nice or bans will be issued...
FYI to the OP, I have a square and the iconia, I have contacted square support and they said they are working on it. They didn't give me a time frame, but they have been super responsive in the past on requests and bugs that I have sent them.

I am wondering whether its the 16 or 32. I am looking to get one for my wife, but running short on funds lol. I have the 16gb model myself just cause the 32 wasnt out when I was shopping.
Interesting. I was going to try out square on my iconia. I'll have to make sure it will work on my Optimus V until they get it to play nice with the tablet.
Also, you should still be able to use Square with just manual entry of the C #'s, although I understand the reason not to with the higher rate of manual entry... Good luck with the sale though.

I did that for a bit, but there's two reasons why this isn't ideal.
1) They actually charge more for manual entry
2) Customers don't like it as much for some reason when you are entering their CC info in. It doesn't seem as "legitimate" as swiping. It also doesn't look as cool.
Is $300 your rock bottom price, or is there any more room to negotiate? I don't need another iconia, but I know a few people who are jealous that would jump at getting one for the right price. You can PM me and we can go from there.
Thanks

*EDIT* -- I've got a bottom of the barrel Android phone (Huawei Ascend) that prompted me to sell off all my Windows Mobile gear (a bunch of Dell Axim's). Spent the last couple of months comparing, reading reviews, message boards, etc... and the A500 is pretty much what I'm looking for. Got a taste of Android from my phone and I want more, More, MORE!
As you can tell from my post count, I'm not on here too often. But, a reply to this thread, a PM or email at: ka4aaa at gmail will certainly get to me. Thank you again, and I understand if you're keeping it. I'm not going to pay $400 (which every local store seems to be offering), can't find it for less than $340 online, and your $300 price is the magic number I've been looking for. Much appreciated!!
**Second Edit** -- Nevermind. Found one locally. Thank you!
hey, dont know if you got the message i sent but definitely interested in getting it off you. let me know. My pms seem to be acting weird and not sending messages out.
Sorry, I forgot about this post and I'm still getting PMs about this.
Item was sold a week or two ago for $320!
Thanks all!

[YMMV] White iPhone 4's being exchanged for 4s's

I just read on www.imore.com that some Apple stores are exchanging White 16GB iPhone 4's with White 16GB iPhone 4s's due to shortages of the regular 4's in the color white. People are confirming this works, but miles are definitely varying.
Refurbished units, FWIW. Good luck all!

I guess if your store is one of the stores out of White 16GB 4's they'll give a refurb 4s as a warranty replacement should something covered under warranty happen to your phone. Follow the link in the OP.

anyone know if this is actually working?
Was going to buy an iPhone 4 and go to my local Apple store and say it's acting buggy and have it swapped out.
I called my local store and the guy said he can't tell me if they had replacement iPhone 4's in stock which is funny since he works in the store and told me I had to make an appointment to find out.
So I would have to take a 20 minute trip and pay for parking at the mall just to find out if they have stock on an item in their store....

Working for Apple in the past. They're NOT supposed to reveal this type of information since there's a high volume of individuals that try to abuse their warranty policy.
Why would he get in trouble for telling a customer who wants to replace an iPhone 4 with and iPhone 4 and before driving out there wants to make sure they have stock for an iPhone 4

So people have to make an appointment appointment and drive 20+ mins to see if they have an item in stock
How can you abuse the warranty if you have to bring the phone in regardless

What I'm referring to is what the OP stated. Going to Apple with your perfectly working iPhone 4 expecting a 4S in exchange for a BS excuse.
Apple will give you an equivalent exchange regardless as long as your warranty is in place. If you so happen to drive to your local Apple store and they so happen not to have a 4 in stock, they'll offer you an alternative or ship you out one next day. They don't tell this to you on the phone because of the abuse I stated earlier.
Making sure a store has stock of an item is abusing the system, a customer who might need a phone immediately wants to see if they have a replacement before they make an effort to travel to a store knowing most are at great distances to some customers
But I understood your first statement

Can one person buy 2 phones via Google PLay

So... As the title says, can one person buy 2 nexus 4 via google play ?
I can't see what's stopping you...
Considering you can change the order quantity on Google Play for the Nexus 7, I see no reason why Google wouldn't allow us to do the same with the Nexus 4.

This is what I was thinking. You can buy as many Nexus 7's as you want in one order. The Nexus 4 will sell many more units and sell out much quicker if Google does the same with the Nexus 4. They would be stupid to limit one per customer.

Things like that really piss me off. It reminds me of Black Friday last year.
I just called Google Play support. They allow 10 Nexus 4 purchases per account per day. You can save quite a bit of money on shipping if you make your purchases all on one order.
What if we want to order one device with 8 gb storage and the other 16 gb? I mean u place the order for one device, fill in all the info (CC/Address etc) and proceed to check out.. then u start the process again and re-enter all he data again.. so will we be charged the shipping separately on both the units? Although both will have same CC and shipping address.
Why an I asking this? because from what i can see here (https://play.google.com/store/devices/details?id=nexus_4_16gb) u can either select 8 gb or 16 gb in single transaction.
Nobody can know the answers to these questions but Google and they aren't talking about it as far as I know.

Yes. Tweakers sucks with their overbearing mods. It's so oddly formal and stodgy over there. Let's keep each other abreast of the latest!
What's wrong with Tweakers?
I don't visit their often, because I don't speak Dutch that well.
Anyway, from what I read, the pre-order won't start before November 18, 2014. I don't know if that's true.

I wouldn't mind the 32gb version, owned a 64 gb htc and I never really used the extra space, don't really store a lot of pictures/music on my phone...
but my LG G3 screen just broke and it hurts to wait that long... if that's just the pre order then shipping will be at least a week later
I just hope it get released (in NLD) through Google Play, but the feeling I got after the way US got treated on the pre-orders we're pretty much screwed. Seems that on previous devices the Play Store price was (slightly) lower than with 3rd party retailers.
All I need is a confirmed date and price, so I can decide to wait for it or move on. My S3 is slowly losing it so I want to replace it in the next 2-3 months.
If it gets a release / pre-order for €565 for 32GB, then I'm buying. Midnight Blue!
32GB will be enough for me, I got the same amount on my S3 at the moment. If I need more storage, there's Drive, Dropbox, etc.
And yes, Tweakers can get a bit "formal" at times
The Nexus 9 is now available for pre-order in the NL store. I don't think I've seen a Nexus device of any sort so soon appear. Gives me a slight bit of hope at least for the appearance of the Nexus 6.

Interesting story there. Here, the stores always refer to the manufacture's warranty and leave it up to the brand to fix or replace it. That's pretty good customer service, for Europe at least.
Retailers are obligated to handle warranty issues in the Netherlands, not the manufacturer.
Also a 2-year warranty period is issued to consumer electronics.
Based on the last few years, I think the retailers here are always late, compare to UK or Germany. But, probably that's how it works on this kind of industry, I don't know why. I bet the retailer in Germany would get it sooner.
But, checking the Nexus 9 on the Play Store The Netherlands, it is THERE available, leaving warehouse in just 1 - 2 days. And the Nexus 9 is officially on sale starting today. Thus, Play Store is not late!
I hope, this would be the same with Nexus 6. If any indication, it could be November 12, as said by T-Mobile U.S. And heard the "full review embargo" would be lifted that day as well.
We can only hope, can't we?

yes we kunnen sure hopen!
And if we do get forgotten on the N6...
This Moto might be released here:

But I counting on the N6 being released here. Coolblue also has the N6 set for pre-orders starting from 18-10.
They provide the option of email notification when it can be ordered.
If we could only get conformation of the price tag...

Retailers are obligated to handle warranty issues in the Netherlands, not the manufacturer.
Also a 2-year warranty period is issued to consumer electronics.

Wait, if something goes wrong with a device and it needs to be serviced or possibly replaced, what does the retailer have to do with it beyond the return date? Or, can you really bring the device in to the retailer and have them arrange service?

Yes.
According to Dutch consumer laws the retailer is obliged to extend warranty services during two years.
Either they get it fixed or replaced, that is up to retailer.
Of course, if the defect isn't covered by warranty costs may apply.
