Galaxy Note gallery on Nexus 7, is possible? - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello, i want to ask you if is possible to get the Gallery Application of the Galaxy Note in the Nexus 7..
Thank to all ^^

You don't post questions in Development. Second no... I'm sure that the gallery requires touchwiz proprietary framework and wouldnt work without it.

But if someone were to.. get Touchwiz Framework working on Nexus 7, then what? I believe some people were in the process of doing so on some thread in Themes and Apps.

It would be illegal... you do know that right? Ports/Distribution of proprietary software is illegal. Also it could be possible that they could rip the tw-framework-res dependencies out of the apk. But that in it self is a task.

Not entirely sure what the progress is on the port, or if it's even being worked on still; I just recall someone saying they were working on it.

Remove Bloatware from Nexus 4

Hi everyone
i know nexus 4 comes with stock rom from google, but there must be things that you recommend removing to keep the beast going at 100% pace.
also, i am a privacy geek and would love to know which of apps i should disable to give as least as possible to google?
at one point i remember a rom that was the stock android but it had all of google's collections bots/apps disabled. Cant seem to think of it
cheers

If you want to receive OTA updates then you have to keep all the apps but you can disable them.
I've disabled Google movies and magazines.
If you really want to avoid Google you should install cyanogen mod without the gapps. You won't require a gmail account to use your phone but that means you have to use alternative market places.
There are open source apps for almost everything but I've never used them so can't say. I know there is a open source maps app though but probably doesn't come close to Google apps.

It depends on how you define bloatware. Some see it as being anything preinstalled on the device that isn't absolutely necessary, which means that most of the GApps that come on the N4 are bloatware. Personally I disagree with that definition of bloatware but you can see why people may think that way.

You could just install something like cm10.1 with no gapps.

S apps in Cm?

I was wondering if it mite be possible to use the apks for S-health and Watchon on Cayanogenmod. Unless those to apps need the dependencies from TouchWiz.

someone will correct me if I'm wrong but I believe "S" Apps need TW to function.
There are many alternatives for S health in the Play Store. Since the Google S4 is coming out soon hopefully we'll get drivers for the IR blaster.

Any S-apps or features will not work on cm/aokp. These need tw-framework to run. And honestly I've ran cm/aokp roms on all my phones since the day I got my first android. This is the first Android phone that I'm actually content with using touchjizz and all of it's features. Really an amazing phone once rooted.

what have you done since rooting to make it moar amazing? I haven't really done much yet.
Just push them to /system/apps/ and find out. Won't hurt anything. Some TW system apps used to work in CM on the skyrocket.

S apps require the touchwiz frame work to function at least most of them do.

It's now a open source feature so it's just a matter of time before it will.
Not likely unless someone makes it a stand alone app.

On tw this will probably be ur only hope unless someone super talented can intergrate the stuff into tw framework seems like a lot of work

Good luck. Your gonna need to find a way to have ever it going into the default frameworks or it's not gonna completely work like the floating notifications linked above.

That's the next update that's in the wings for our phones. This has some new code for Bluetooth and maybe other things I am not familiar with. But with this update alone, I highly doubt tmo will "add" wifi-calling to the N4 or even ever. If they intended it, they would have installed it on the Tmo version/sold by of the N4.
Right, but is it that integrated of an app that someone cannot port it into a custom rom, from a t-mobile phone on jellybean that has wifi-calling?

I don't know the semantics but the gist is not just an apk. I think it intertwines with framework and that's a lot of shifting through code to bring one app to light. I mean there's a thread created with a reward of like over $1,400 to "port" it. lol

That reward thread pretty much speaks for itself then.. lol...
Yeah I believe for ICS it still was an app, and easier to work with. But I did notice that in Jellybean it's no longer in app form, and it seems to be tied into the updated sim cards they are running and I guess, more "baked" into the framework itself.
You would think they would come out with a stand-alone app for ppl without actual T-mobile branded phones..

AOSP Theming on Rooted Stock Rom

This may be a stupid question, but is there any way to Theme Touchwhiz to match an AOSP look without having an De-odexed ROM? I have XPosed installed. I have Nova, but I would like the rest.

Not to hijack the thread but there is a chance I might end up with a Note 3 via crowd funding. I have been asked several times this weekend as safestrap is almost ready. Making TW into AOSP is my specialty.

AWESOME!! I used your rom exclusively on the s4! Liked it so much that I almost returned my note 3 to go back to your ROM on the s4! Ill hang onto the note 3 a little longer with hopes of this working out. If there is a link or something where others can help source the device definitely let me know.

You can do it without the note 3, this sounds like charity to me. Hashcode and many other devs do this because it's a passion. The only reason the note was donated to him was because the community got together so he can develope ss for our note 3 and to clean it up when Verizon changes the selinux to enforcing. If this sounds rude call me out, but I think this is toxic to development.

People ask me to build Eclipse for the device. It is impossible to do it without the device. You obviously have no clue what all goes into building a rom the way I do.
Let me be clear about this, I did not ask for this device nor did I have any intentions of getting this device. People enjoy the work the work I do on other devices and wanted the same experience on their Note 3.
