[Q] Samsung Slate 7 - Developer Version - Windows 8 General

The Developer version of the Samsung Slate 7 uses an AT&T sim card. Wondering if it will also work on Tmobile, or if you need an unlock code, or if there is an unlock code. I would really prefer to give my business to T-Mobile. I probably won't use it often, but since it is there .. may as well have a sim card in it... Or maybe I should just get a pay as you go card for AT&T .. Thanks for helping ...

There will probably be an at&t one and an international unlocked one

T-mobile 3g/4g operates on the 1700 and 2100 spectrum. I would find out what frequency range the tablet operates at, and that should give you your answer....

US Streak in EU?

I've done a bunch of searching on this and can't find a thing; I know there are certain restrictions on the sims (locked) but that's as far as it goes.
I may be going to Greece (from US) for 2-3 months and am about to buy a Streak here in the US.
Can I use the phone there without having to go through AT&T's "overseas plan"? Can I, for example, use a Vodaphone sim or any other for that matter while I'm away?
Thanks for the help.
EDIT: Almost forgot to ask, what type of speed do I expect compared to ATT's 3G?
Short answer: no, you can't. When the phone is sim-locked, you can't use any other sim cards than att-sims.
Slightly longer answer: you may call att once you get the phone and tell them you will be staying with att, but you're going to greece for 2-3 months. they may send you an unlock code (see the other recently updated unlocking thread). i think you also have to buy the full priced version from dell, not the one with an att subscription. i just sent them a fax with a proof of purchase, because they needed to know the price i paid for the device... good luck!

Seems like you have personal experience with this sort of thing.
So basically, buy a phone at full price and then maybe att will give me an unlock code?

Not true.
I've had att provide me with the unlock code for many devices that I paid the subsidized price for.
What you have to do is call them and request it, have your devices imei # available. once they tell you that they can't access the unlock code or whatever the issue ask them what your options are and if they don't suggest to open a case then request to open one. They'll take your email from you and you should get the code within 2 weeks.
Remember to be polite and when they offer you the international roaming package, just kindly deny it and say your more comfortable with using a local sim card. Also good to say that your going overseas for business so they take you nour seriously.
As for the data speeds, find what frequency the network in greece uses then compare that to the streaks
Good luck.

2. changing sim cards often when using rebel sim ii is a hassle
3. rebel sim is not a true unlock, and it complicates everything..
but, tr8rjohnk, if att won't give you the unlock code, go ahead and buy a rebel sim ii..

Yeah! shutting the phone down, removing the back, taking out the battery, taking out the sim, sliding in the new sim, replacing the battery, putting the cover back on taking all of 5 valuable minutes at the start and the end of your three month tenure could really bring a man down

Can you, or can you not, use any sim anywhere within the developed world whilst using a rebel ii sim? Yes! so why is it different from any other unlocking technique
Good info, everyone, thanks for the input. I'll be looking into the rebel sim ii and also speaking with att.

well, it's different in that you phone is still locked to a provider.. have you read any other threads about rebel sim? until rebel sim released the new firmware for their sims, 3g did't work properly.. as i said, it complicates things... i just punched in my 8 digit code i got from att (called them on friday), and the streak works like a charm with my (uncut) norwegian sim card..
guys, calling Att is for the US sold ATT devices. I'm pretty sure, but not 100%, that they can tell from the imei if it was sold via dell.com in the US or not. If not i don't think they'll issue you the unlock code, unless the unlock code generator that LBK Tech for At&t has doesn't distinguish the imeis

Search for GSM UNLOCK HD2. If you are on T-Mobile call them and request unlock code - it's free. If you got your phone on ebay used or somethign they may not do it - therefore, you need to pay around I think 20-30$ to get code from ebay -0 then you'll be all set.
BTW - HD2 will have only EDGE speed on AT&T network.
If you can get Samsung Vibrant or Galaxy S 4G - both of those can be unlocked and do support 3G ATT network.
So how would this work on android?

You obtain a code (buy or get it from T-Mobile) then insert At&t sim card into your phone, turn it on and it will ask you for it...

Att Atrix in Europe

I am planning a trip to Europe soon. My Att Atrix is rooted and unlocked running cm9, but not unlocked for different SIM cards.
What do I need to do to have my phone work in Italy, and Denmark. I was just going to pick up a SIM card at the airport.
Do I need to flash a international radio? What provider should I buy a SIM from? Anyone recommend a specific unlocking code provider?
Sent from my MB860 using Tapatalk
1. You should buy an unlock code (I bought from ebay, 99 cents).
2. Buy sim card from GSM provider.
3. you're set.
Call ATT and ask them for unlock code. they should be able to provide it to you for free if you are a customer.
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda premium
AT&T used to provide unlock codes free if you had an account more than 90 days old. Then they changed to "the phone has to be released more than a year ago". Now they've changed again, not sure but I think back to 90 days.
Call them and ask, when you say you are going overseas they should ive you the code if their timeout has been met.
The Atrix IS a GSM 4-band international ready phone, no need to monkey with that. Unless your mods changed something, it will use the right band wherever you are.
As to which provider...ask about rates and coverage for each area you'll be in.
The unlock code from AT&T cannot actually be applied until you try to turn on the phone with an "alien" SIM card in it, so once you get the code you might want to borrow a TMobile or other SIM so you can confirm the code actually will work for you. (Or buy a cheapie here.)

Sim Card --> MicroSim

I live in canada.
When I got my HTC HD 7, I wanted to see who it is compatible with. To know if the phone will work with the carrier,
they check the IMEI number.
Another way to check is to insert the micro sim card. But hardly anyone uses micro-sim card these days.
I will have to buy micro sim which cost $10 from rogers, telus and bell to check if it is compatible.
I dont want to end up paying that much money. Do you guyz know if the device will work on bell or telus or bell?
This is a stupid question but please help me.
I could cut it for free for you if you're in Markham. I have the tool.

no. this global pentaband phone that comes factory unlocked will not work on ANY carrier anywhere.
how about using google for this extremely simple answer..
You know, it never hurts to ask your local carrier either. My local AT&T store has the tool and told me to bring in my N4 when it gets in and they'll cut my SIM for me, no charge.
If you search google you can download a microsim template for free.
Buying a Sim cost $10 and buying a Micro_Sim also cost $10 in all this big carriers in Canada.
I just dont where where this nexus 4 will be compatible.

what carrier are you on? is it GSM? if so, pretty much the nexus 4 will work on it then since it has pentaband
so in simpler terms: GSM = nexus 4 will work
and yes, like dondizzurp said, search on google. even better, go to the play store where the device specs is actually there https://play.google.com/store/devic...wNV9uZXh1c1VTXzFfcHJvbW9fMTM1MTg3NzIzNzM2NCJd
The N4 works on ALL Canadian carriers, including Wind and Mobilicity, but you're only going to get DC-HSPA+ 42 on Telus, Bell and their MVNOs.
Check the frequencies

Just check in the Carrier website what frequencies use, Nexus 4 use 850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz for GSM
and 850 / 900 / 1700 / 1900 / 2100 for 3G, HSDPA. it's almost all the planet frequencies unless LTE.
Can we stop with the sim----> micro sim threads already? There have been at least 10 in the last few days. Search people.

I doubt that will work here (in canada) they won't admit to a phones existence until they sell it, its really sad, I called and asked about the N4 and they kept saying "yeah the galaxy nexus is blah blah blah" was really annoying..

[Q] Possible to Unlock?

Hi I wanted to buy this pone from amazon, but the thing is that I would buy the sprint versiĆ³n with no contract and I don't live in the US, so my question is, can I unlock this pone to use it with any other company? like Movistar? I read that the pone was GSM so I thought it would be posible, however I won't take the risk of paying 590 dollars for a pone that I can't use, thanks

What do you mean if I dont know dont tell? What does that supposed to mean?
I KNOW my Cellular Networks!
Sprint is a CDMA Network!
The ONLY part about sprint that is NOT CDMA is LTE which the sim card slot is LOCKED to sprint.
They MIGHT be a fix but right now there is NOT. Some of the older phones like the Moto Photon its not LTE but its a world phone and people could flash a few things and make it work, But only EDGE in the USA anyway.
But as of right now and problay for a while its NOT going to work.

I expect Sprint will provide a method soon to unlock the GSM and UMTS functions in the phone to be able to use it internationally. However, I don't expect the GSM and UMTS functions to operate inside the US. Sprint has always disabld them on GSM capable Android and iOS devices it sells.
I don't see why it wouldn't work for you as long as you can get it unlocked.
Sprint is not going to unlock it for you unless you are a long time customer or have the phone with them for 90 days.
hyelton is completely wrong though.. the sim does authenticate lte on sprint but also acts as a gsm sim internationally.
you can also remove the sim and insert any international sim once unlocked providing the carrier uses the correct bands.

You are all kinds of WRONG.
Sprint's GS4 is fully capable of voice and data on international GSM/HSPA+/UMTS 850/900/1900/2100MHz networks. You have to request Sprint to unlock your phone's sim (or find a work around if you're not a Sprint customer), but once unlocked you can pop in any international sim and it will WORK JUST FINE on international GSM networks, they don't have to support LTE. Heck the only thing preventing the SG4 from working on US GSM networks is Sprint locked the Sim from using USofA GSM carrier sim cards.
As long as the OP can get their Sprint SG4 sim unlocked, they can pop in their international sim and use the GSM in their country NO PROBLEM like any other GSM phone.
SO ONCE AGAIN, Sprint's SG4 has a fully functioning GSM modem that supports international carrier GSM/HSPA+/UMTS 850/900/1900/2100MHz bands!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You would think someone with almost 2,000 posts and who made a statement like "I KNOW my Cellular Networks!" would know better. Do yourself a huge favor and actually know what you're talking about before you go spouting off again, because you really made yourself look like an ignorant fool.

Well YES you can easily use your phone overseas, But it was POSTED in the Sprint Forum which is ONLY in the USA and in which using it does NOT apply in the USA. And to get the phone unlocked I`m not sure if a regular unlocking company would be able to do it someone with a sprint account would and it would be MUCH more trouble than just to pick up a ACTUAL GSM carriers Version of the phone.( I should had just said that to begin with) Its VERY pointless to TRY and want to use the sprint Version when they are SEVERAL OTHER varrients that are GSM they could have got to use.
EXCEPT... the op specifically said they wanted to purchase it from Amazon America to use on their country's GSM network.
Why they want to do that? WHO KNOWS, maybe it might be cheaper doing it this way, but that is what they want to do and despite all your unnecessary wrongful information, the OP can do what they asked as long as they can get the sim unlocked.

Yea.... but it ONLY works internationally AND you have to be a sprint customer.
The POINT I have been trying to get across is that people need to understand Sprint is a CDMA carrier and ONLY relies on GSM for LTE. I think what people think is that they are solely a gsm carrier like most of the world is but its NOT
