I noticed that my nexus 7 automatically shuts down when the battery level is at around 12-14%. Is this normal? Does the nexus 7 have some sort of automatic shutdown feature to prevent battery depletion? If yes, is there a way to edit that option?
Thanks!
Does it?? Im stock rooted and the lowest I got mine to was 5% I'll give it ago today and hammer the battery see if mine shuts down

I can see the battery go down to 1% before auto-shutdown.
Stock, rooted, 4.1.1
Must be a problem with my unit then. I'll try to tinker with and see what's the problem.

Have you done a few full charge cycles since you got the N7?
i.e. fully discharge till it doesnt even power on into bootloader, then (while power off) charge to 100% in one sitting.
Repeat.
Do that a couple of times.
Im gonna try that. Thanks!

How old is the battery? You can pick up OEM Samsung replacements for like $7.00 on amazon. I have 3 myself.

Have you tried using a different kernel? Matr1x and marmite work best for me!
Well running pacman rom with matrix so gonna see how that does

Did you turn off auto-sync?
Looks normal to me lol... I'm getting horrible life... My 4G never turns off and I'll get maybe 3hrs screen-on time... Running stock 4.2

since you're talking about battery issues, idk if this is "normal" or not, but just now, my battery was at 38%, so i started to plug it in, tried doing a reboot and when it finished rebooting within seconds, all of a sudden, the battery jumps up to 60%...i think my phone's battery is fu**ed up

that always happen to me too ... deleting stats isn't usefull ... maybe it's a battery problem ... my battery isn't perfect but it can make about 2 - 2.30 screen on time and a total of 14 hours all sync active ... a newer battery could give me probably some more juice
Yea same result running matrix so I think its the battery
Hopefully.....

I forgot to mention that my battery was replaced a few weeks ago!

using straight aosp 4.2 with any kernel gets me at best, 5 hours of standby time. I noticed this about a month ago and immediately started looking for ways to prolong my battery life. What seems to be working best for me is disabling mobile data when I'm not using it. Just this one setting gives me a boost from 4-5 hours in standby to well over 12 hours of normal use (of course, with the exception of any web service). I have come home from 13 hour shifts and still had 30-40% battery left several times!! However, this only happens if I disable mobile data.
Something needs to be done....and QUICKLY!!! My phone is pretty damn well useless for anything involving internet connectivity unless I'm using wifi
btw, my battery is about 14 months old.
I'm pretty sure the battery drain is from 4.2, when I was running 4.1 I had no issues
I'm having some trouble with my Nexus 7. I foolishly discharged my battery fully. Now, when I plug it in, it boots up immediately, and then powers off with static after a few seconds, so I can't charge it properly. Do you know a way I can force it to charge without booting?

The problem is that for me it doesn't go to the charging screen, it tries to boot, crashes, and tries to boot up again. I'm pretty sure it won't charge much this way and it doesn't seem very healthy.
That's odd um try if you have twrp go there and see if it says the battery is charging, if not can you get into your bootloader okay?

Since i updated my device to 4.2.1 charging my nexus 7 really get slow..... It takes 6 hours to 7 hours to fully charge. Im using the cable and charger that it came from the unit.
Is there a fix for this one? Thanks.

AW: Is there a fix for slow charging issue?
Check whether the device charges in USB mode. It can happen for some reason I don't know. In this mode it charges much slower. I once had it happen when on AC.
It's on AC. It takes 6 hrs to fully charge from empty. =(

What do you mean by rebooting it? I have the same charging problem. It needs about five to six hours for me to charge fully. How did you solve it? Is it really the problem of android 4.2.2?
Just try rebooting it or restart the device while charging. Im using battery widget reborn app, to see how many hrs left to make my nexus 7 to be fully charged.
Here's what i do,
Plug the charger then check after 2 mins on the app battery widget reborn how many hrs left to be fully charged, if it's says more than 4 hrs or greater than that. Hit the power button and restart your device. Once the device booted up, check the remaining time left on charging if it's improved to 3 hrs or less to fully charged your device.
Try it. It's working fine for my nexus 7.

I tried the app you mentioned. But the remaining time it indicates isn't equivalent to the real time used. Maybe this app doesn't work for my device, it still needs four to five hours for my nexus being fully charged. Anyway, thanks for your reply.

Or you may try to go to bootloader, then turn it off.. Unplug the charger, then put it back in then turn on your device.. It works for me.

Hi all,
Have anyone encounter the nexus 4 charger emit noise when the phone is fully charged?
But when I turn the phone screen on, the noise will be gone and back again when the phone screen is off.
Thank you.

Can you reproduce this with a video?
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2
Maybe it's a feature?
Hmm.. Will try to take a video. Doesn't seems like a feature. It produce some high pitch sound. When I switch off the power, the phone screen will take some time to wake up, normally it should auto wake up immediately as what I observe from nexus 7.

I realized that the original charger when charging makes the device hot and slow.
But i have a galaxy tab 10.1 charger that keeps it cool and charge fast

My Two cents
I don't own a nexus 4 but mine dies the same exact thing. Usually when the battery is full. My guess is the phone is rejecting the charge. But when You turn the screen on, the charger powers the screen and possibly the speakers, so it stops.

Have you got a old Xperia sitting around? Bring them to us!
Thanks for the comments. I hope my charger don't fail on me. Just want to confirm did anyone use a nexus 7 charger to charge nexus 4? I read through forum, though the nexus 7 using 2A than nexus 4 1.2A. The phone will charge fine without damaging the battery or the phone, since it only draws the amount of charges needed.

Charger buzz not only when fully charged, but the whole cycle
I seem to be having battery drain when my find 5 is completely powered off. Twice I have fully charged my find 5 and powered if off. The next day I powered it on and my battery was down to 65ish percent. The first time it happened I thought maybe I was mistaken about charging it fully but last night there was no doubt that when I powered it off it was at 100% and woke up, powered it on and it was at 65% . I charged it back to 100,powered it off and left it off for about 2 hours. When I powered it on, it was down to 96%. So it's definitely draining while powered off. I'm running Cm (the latest rc1) with CWM recovery. I'm thinking I might have a bum battery.

Been awhile since I've had mine shut off.. But I'll do a full charge now and power down for a bit... Stay tuned!
UPDATE: got tired of waiting to get a full charge so I unplugged at 95%. Shut the phone off for almost and hour and didn't loose any %. Tonight I will let it stay off all night and see if there's battery drain.
