[Q] Titanium Backup not restoring apps - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I had to do a master reset on the 7 and tried to reload my apps using titanium backup.
No matter if I do a batch restore or a single individual app restore it hangs and does not load the app.
I have "unknown sources" checked, busybox installed, as well supersu.
Im lost guys, what am I doing wrong here.
Also running stock ROM with Klemsys Kernal.
TIA.

Clear cache in app management. If that doesn't work uninstall and reinstall. I've had to do this a few times with TB.

update your busybox. grab the busybox installer from the play market, stericsons version. open it, let it run, then use the smart install when it asks.

did both and still nothing.
Maybe i will try another reset.
thanks.

[Q] Keeping apps when trying out ROMs?

I've been trying out a few ROMs, and have had problems retaining or restoring apps when moving to a new ROM or restoring an old one. I'm using ROM Manager Premium, and MyBackup Pro to backup/restore my apps.
The problems I've had are:
1. Moved from Virtuous G-Lite to MIUI, using ROM Manager to download and install MIUI, and selected the option to backup my existing ROM. Before doing so I also backed up all my apps and data using MyBackup Pro. When I installed MIUI and tried to restore my apps using MyBackup Pro most of the apps failed to restore, saying something like "no market data found" for each app.
2. Restored Virtuous G-Lite from recovery mode, using the backup taken above. Many of the apps were not correctly restored - their app icons were set to the Android Market icon, and when I tried to run them I got "could not launch the requested activity". These were typically non-core apps that I'd downloaded from the market.
When restoring apps using MyBackup Pro I've selected the option to restore apps only (not data), as I'd previously had problems with apps force closing if I restored apps and data.
Can anyone recommend a tried and tested way of restoring apps cleanly after switching ROMs?

Titanium backup is the best app of all. Also when you switched roms, did you do a full wipe on your phone? Because usually backup apps sometimes stores the backups on the phone data so when you wiped the phone is lost all data. Hope this helps

When I downloaded MIUI using ROM Manager I chose all three options (including wiping the Dalvik cache) - is that what you mean by wiping the phone?
When I backup my apps using MyBackup Pro I always backup to SD card, so the data should not be lost when wiping.
The specific error that I get when trying to restore my apps is "Android market link was not found"
I don't understand why it's trying to contact Android market if it's trying to restore an already-installed app?

try backing up with titanium backup. its be the best out there.
this is because you wiped your data from ROM manager and not from recovery
best thing to do when youre going to switch to a new ROM is to back up your apps (using either titanium backup or my backup) and then reboot into recovery and from there you factory reset, wipe cache, wipe dalvik cache and battery stats THEN u flash the new ROM
some either use the g2superwipe, or something like that
but doing it this way is the best so you dont have to mess with half ass wipes that cause trouble when u want to restore your apps
With titanium backup pro
Go to menu
More
Market doctor
That should fix broken market links
Also don't backup with Google if using tb
Under home
Settings
Privacy
Auto restore
Edit... Be advised that wiping battery stats just be done properly. Do your homework before you wipe battery stats

I used MIUI and it's My Backup feature but it wasn't as awesome as Titanium Backup. Titanium Backup backs up your app and its associated data. Then when you restore all your apps/data it links everything back to the market so you can receive updates through the market. ROM Manager and Titanium Backup are two must haves for any user who has rooted their Android device and is playing with ROMs.
The apps that wouldn't restore for me with the whole market link thing were "blackmarket" apps. With those making sure you have saved the apk on your cpu or something seems important. I have titanium pro and mybackup pro.

Same here. PRO key is worth the few $$.
And yet another vote for Titanium Backup--the pro key is worth the money, and I've personally found the app a lifesaver during "rom experimentation"

yeah, but the pro version, because with the free one you have to re-install all your apps manually. It takes time when you have 100+ apps

App syncing nightmare

i am being flashing different Roms all the time to try out various Roms, but everytime i flash the rom by full wipe, iam having nightmare in restoring all the apps. i have around 200 apps and i also have the titanium backup, but as everyone know i have to press install 200 times to restore all the apps. it is making me crazy.
i want to know how u guys addressing this, is there any way out or have to live with this nightmare
Latest market or android version sync your market apps when you launch market the first time. At least it did that for me stock kl7. But DON'T go to your downloads open market and press back leave the apps to get installed from notification bar if you press my downloads after a few you get a error saying you don't have space on your phone and if it stops once forget to continue it later they disappear so if you fail with it. code factory reset it and try again it is faster. Done 4 or 5 till i succeed. But works on market apps only rest manually.

Buy titanium backup pro. Installs everything automatically. I think astro file manager has a backup feature for free.

Are you talking about apps from your myapp list in the market? Or apps from titanium backup? If you have free version, you will have to install apps manually. If you have titanium pro, it will install all 200 apps automatically with no user input.

Why is Google Play store not showing my correct apps???????

Not sure why the current apps that are installed on my device are not showing up in Google Play Store. Also, its saying that some apps are installed when I dont have them installed on my device.
Have you tried clearing data ?

Clearing the data from the phone itself?
^^^ menu> system settings> more> application manager> all> scroll down to google play store> clear cache and clear data :good:
Did you restore apps with Titanium Backup? Your market links may not have been updated, have TB restore market links. If you didn't restore apps with TB then disregard.

I've never needed to use TB, seems that whenever I installed a ROM, and I would go through the initial restore/setup process, I add my wifi, and then I see that my apps are usually already being downloaded. Nowadays it seems that this doesn't happen all the time. Cant figure out why this happens infrequently or what determines when it will do that. Seems based on the ROM. No?

[Help] Titanium backup and PA 3.98/Android 4.3

Hi,
Can someone tell me if there is problem with titanium backup 6.1 with PA 3.98 because when I try to restore an app with just hangs at processing. Installing app and then restoring data doesn't work too. I tried restoring apps with nandroid manager bt it just installed apps without app data even though I selected app data. Thanks
Change the path in Titanium backup from /storage/emulated/0/TitaniumBackup to /storage/emulated/legacy/TitaniumBackup. Titanium will ask if you want to move the files. Say No, since they are really the same folder. It's a 4.3 thing, not a PA problem.
That should do it.
Hit thanks if it works for you.

Been thoroughly covered. You have two options to get it to work with 4.3- install supersu or point TiBu to storage/emulated/legacy.

you have to flash the SuperSU 1.51

Installing SuperSU is not necessary and it will work if one just points TiBu to the appropriate directory. Installing SuperSU is an optional workaround. Whichever one a user opts for is a matter of personal preference.
Thanks for all the replies I will try when I get time

Is there a workaround for user accounts? I changed /storage/emulated/10/TitaniumBackup to /storage/emulated/legacy/TitaniumBackup but it is still hanging. would the SuperSU workaround work?

Titanium Backup cannot restore my data! help!

I flash to KitKat factory image from CM10.2 (wiped everything including my internal memory), and then I flash to CM11 nightly and use titanium backup to restore only my app data. and here is where the problem comes in, none of my data is restoring from Titanium, although it says data restore completed in titanium, it actually isn't. Every apps force close when I open it after restoring. After that if I restart my phone, those app that i restored will be disappeared from my app drawer, it didn't appear in settings -> app either, if i try to install again it won't install, only way is to manually search for the apk file through file manager and delete it. I cant restore anything from titanium backup! FYI, I only backup the data of the app, not including the apk, but after restoring the app force close and restarting my phone the whole app gone missing from my app drawer. I can't lose all my data. what can I do? please help :crying::crying:
Another question, every time after u guys flash a new rom do u restore the old android ID or use new one in titanium backup?
Latest update of TB has caused some issues for many people. For me, on some roms, it fc's when I click an app to restore. Try googling for an apk of a previous version, and see if the problem persists. Regarding the id, you can keep the new one. Some functions might not work properly though, like location update. You can go into your settings for your Google account on a computer and withdraw access rights for apps and devices, then everything is fine. Hope this helps. Good luck!
