Nexus 7 stuck at Google Screen (Even when Recovery Mode) - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I recently unlocked, rooted, and CWM (Recovery) my Nexus 7 and everything seemed fine with a custom rom installed aswell.
Just now I edited mymedia_profiles.xml for 720p video mod and rebooted device now stuck at google screen. Even in bootloader when I select recovery it goes strright to google screen and stays stuck.
How do I fix this

If u can't get into recovery u could flash the nexus 7 stock image
Sent from Galaxy SIII

when in the boot loader, plug in via USB then press recovery.

if the above does not work try this toolkit. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1809195

Thanks all for help sorted it out.
Re flashed the custom recovery using adb fastboot (Google Nexus 7 Toolkit) all fine now but strange that recovery failed.
After editing a xml file

Its a bug with the 7’s bootloader. You can't get into recovery directly from the bootloader without having the USB plugged into a computer or you can just select reboot into recovery from the power menu on PA or any CM based rom. There are a couple of apps that allow you to reboot into recovery as well like rom manager and rom toolbox... The modified XML file had nothing to do with it.

Hello everyone,
I just installed TWRP via goomanager and when i use "reboot recovery" in goo manager menu: TWRP works fine.
But when i use ROM toolbox lite for reboot into bootloader then i chose simply "Start" or "Recovery mode" i'm also stuck at google logo...
I don't understand one thing, we only can enter into bootloader mode with an android app, we can't do that when we power on the tablet for the first time?
Sorry for my approximate english.

Yes that is correct. Its a bug with the boot loader. You can plug the 7 into a computer USB and it will let you into recovery from the boot loader. This WILL NOT work with a charger though... I know it sucks. Hopefully Google will fix it in future updates.

Hard Reset Nexus 7 Working
For all those who have problem getting to recovery mode after connecting the USB cable to computer, follow the "Configure Drives" step from this link.

Its worth reinstalling the drivers if its already installed.

Won't boot to CWM Recovery?

I followed the guides and unlocked & rooted my Nexus 7 tablet. It took a while, but I got it to work eventually. I'm rooted now, and I flashed CWM Recovery 6 (regular) and did a Nandroid backup. When I restarted from CWM, it asked me if I wanted to fix the tablet so that it wouldn't re-flash the stock recovery on reboot, and I said "yes" so I could keep CWM Recovery. However, the next time I rebooted and tried to go to Recovery, the tablet just hung at the Google boot logo with the unlocked padlock icon and wouldn't go into Recovery. I've reflashed CWM from the Rom Manager app, but I cannot get it to work. Any solutions?
Connect a USB cord to your computer. The custom ROM reboot to recovery function works but manually going to boot loader then recovery requires a USB cable connected to a computer on the other end.

Nexus7 doesn't load CWM recovery

So I rooted, unlocked and installed CWM recovery touch (latest version) with Nexus 7 Toolkit. I also renamed manually recovery files with root manager.
CWM recovery worked only the first 2 times after I installed it. Now if I try to shutdown my N7, I press UP+DOWN+VOL and I select Recovery Mode, it stucks on Google logo! So I must press power button for some second to force reboot and returning to JB os.
Why CWM recovery doesn't work now? How can I solve this issue?
EDIT: I installed rom manager and selected "Reboot in Recovery" (second option) and I loaded CWM recovery. But why can't I load recovery directly from boot?
You have to be connected with usb cable to load recovery from the bootloader

Why? I always installed cwm in hundred devices and no one of them required USB cable to boot into recovery

its a known issue for nexus 7's bootloader.. until there is a fix from google, u have to connect to a computer with usb cable when trying to enter recovery mode..
OK thanks guys

Mouse, you have received incomplete information. I have Rom Manager 5.0.2.0 installed with the 6.0.1.0 Recovery. If I go to Rom Manager and re-flash the Recovery, then choose Reboot into Recovery, I reboot into Clockwork Recovery. Try it yourself. You just have to reflash the recovery before choosing to reboot into recovery.
You can also reboot into recovery from within a terminal shell or by adb, that's not a problem. The problem is the boot loader which boots into recovery only when usb is connected with a PC.

There is no need to re flash every time
You only have to have usb in when selecting recovery from the bootloader.
Selecting reboot recovery within android will load it fine

Yes it's true! I flashed recovery only once with toolkit but if I would load it I have to plug an USB cable or reboot in recovery with apps such as root manager or quick boot. This issue is also reported in nexus 7 toolkit FAQ

Hi,
It has nothing to do with toolkit or whatever, it is a bug I had often, if would wipe the system, it would let me again

There is an app called quick boot that can reboot to cwm if that makes things easier, in the play store its a blue icon with a lightning bolt through it

i have the same problem, when i try to launch recovery from bootloader it doesn't load, but i don't understand what you mean with being plugged with usb, i should get into bootloader and then plug the cable to windows, or should i plug it with the toolkit open or something like that, basically, what is the procedure to make it work at least in this way?

[Q] TWRP hangs, please help

I got my 16GB grouper in November. During unlocking and rooting, I have tried TWRP from my PC(Win7HB, WinXP) but it hangs at Google logo. Tools used were android sdk and downloaded drivers from it. I was recently using Modaco Jr12, M-kernel a23 and CWM touch when I went to meet my friend and tried TWRP from his laptop(Win7Ultimate). Voila! It got into recovery mode straight. Tools now used were platform-tools-v16.zip downloaded from this forum, and drivers downloaded from Asus. But alas! during playing with my device I installed stock ROM, and custom recovery was gone. At home I tried the same tools on my PC that I had used on my friend's laptop to install TWRP but to no avail. I noticed one thing that during TWRP install from my friend's laptop a folder named TWRP was installed in my /sdcard. This doesn't happen at home and manually restoring the folder from my copied files/folders on my PC to my Nexus 7 has no effect. I cannot get into recovery either from bootloader or from ROM. What's actually happening? Another information to mention is that adb commands only work in recovery mode but not when booted into ROM.
Any help?
Anyone there who has faced similar problem with TWRP?

leads me to bootloader. selecting "recovery mode" causes a hung up screen with Google logo & open lock icon(as if no recovery is installed, except that "booting failed" message at top left corner isn't displayed). Power+vol- leads me to bootloader again. This only happens with TWRP, not with CWM.
SOLVED

Friends, sorry for bothering you as well as myself being bothered. It seems my Internet Download Manager somehow did not like the official TWRP link and downloaded a file with different md5 each time, just not the correct one. I downloaded the TWRP file from Chrome itself and, Voila!! problem solved and a lesson learnt---- ALWAYS DO A CHECKSUM CHECK

[Solved] I can't get into recovery mode mannually [but I can, using softwares]

Hey all,
I just got my nexus 7 wifi, rooted using Wug's tool kit, installed TWR latest version and installed CM Rom.
The problem I'm facing is that when I want to boot into recovery mannually, i.e. powering on the device with holding volume down and up, I succeed into booting to the bootloader. However, when I choose the reovery Mode option, the nexus enters into a boot loop [ if that's what you call it ].
Yet if I use the toolkit, or use the commands in software like goo or ROM managers to boot to recovery, the phone does boot into recovery.
So I'm fine for now, but if anything goes wrong in future, I will get stuck. I tried, but Even the toolkit couldn't get the nexus into the recovery mode when it's in bootloader. It has to be open, and Not in File transfer mode.
I'm very noob in these things, so I would really appreciate you explaining in simple terms.
Thanks in advance.
Update to latest bootloader version 4.23 then erase and reinstall TWRP.
Thanks, I did update I can boot via bootloader now.

Stuck without an OS

Hi there! I have a unlocked Nexus 7 that used to be rooted. I did a wipe on it while it was rooted using TWRP and accidentally deleted the OS. Now when I turn my N7 on it just stays on the Google screen with the unlocked logo. I have tried using the Unroot + Flash Stock on Nexus Root Toolkit but I can't find the right driver as it can't connect to fastboot (And i am using the softbricked option). When I try to normally flash something it just goes to the google screen again and stays stuck. I need help with this!
If you can get into TWRP, you can mount a USB thumb drive which has an op system zip file on it. This way you can install a ROM. This worked for me.
