Siyah Kernel and JB Roms - Galaxy S III General

Every JB rom I've come across doesn't seem to play nice w/ Siyah 1.5.2. Some state that it may work after resetting a million times, it's safe to say that there's will be a new version to address said issues. Having said that, does anyone have a copy of 1.5.1 beta 6? It's not up on the home site for Siyah and I'd like to get my hands on it. Thanks in advance!

Why make a new thread seriously go to siyah thread and get it jeez!!!

You can't use any of the custom kernels until Samsung released the source code.

I was on Rocket ICS v1 but couse of superbrick i move to Paranoid Android
Kingdroid 1.5v really good rom (don't use svoice and launcher so no need to upgrade to 1.6v)
Stock lpf, lpf kernel, rooted, with many useless Samsung apps frozen. Running very smooth and battery life exceptional with no deep sleep issues.

i gave official ics german a try, but it was boring compared 2 the rest out there.
felt exactly the same as my old gingerbread. so now i have 2 decide between paranoid android and cm9. wich one has less issues?

safe official ics rom

from all the official ics 4.0.3/4 roms published by Sammobile wich one has a safe kernel? btw I'm not agree at all they post unsafe roms putting in everyone's hands the potential to super brick their phones

They are all unsafe untill now. But their is little risk on pure stock rom, still their is a risk.
ICS ARE DANGEROUS TO WIPE. USE ABYSS OR GB TO WIPE.. THEY R SAFE...

None.
Paranoid Android uses a "safe" cm9 kernel that avoids triggering the vicious emmc brick bug.

I'd love to try flashing some custom ROMs to my phone. I did this with the ICS one but it was just a simple matter of putting the ".zip" file into my SD storage and going through the power button and volume up buttom directions. Is it the same thing with this one? or do I have to add a bunch of other stuff like CMW recovery and all these different type of things?:silly: I'm a true noob lol
Yeah you gotta flash the ROM and gapps through cwm or twrp recovery

For sll the people still waiting for ics update in Pakistan. Here is a good news for you 4.0.4 update for note n7000 is available via OTA in Pakistan since 12 sept 2012.

That must be LR8 4.0.4
I have updated 2 days back on my stock ROM thread.
Qazi have u rooted ur gt-n7000.....if yes then which is the safe method
Sent from my MB860 using xda premium
Yes dr.ketan its LR8.
yes i have rooted my phone but it has the stock rom and kernel thats why i was able to get the update over the air. If u are already on custom rom then u should download the stock rom from dr.ketans rom page and flash it with clockworkmod recovery.

Stock ROM need to flash using Odin (PC/Mobile), it can't be flash with CWM.
Anyway LR8 is pack with new launcher and feature like LRQ or it having same old launcher?
Tw is the same. Popup play is added and signature unlock. The stock keyboard layout is slightly changed with a new button added for attatchments. The touch button at the right has a little different layout. Besides that everything is the same. Battery life is slightly decreased. I dont know if its coz my phone is 6 month old and battery is aged.

Dr.ketan i remember i once flashed the stock GB rom with cwm on ics stunner rom.

Cwm supports zip only, fundamentally its not possible.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
Thanks. I just used a few custom roma, like alba, criskelo ,cm9 and ics stunner. Since official ics came out i am using it. Dr.ketan i am unable to install cwm since 4.0.4. I have the cwm rom manager but itals not installing the cwm.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda app-developers app
CWM manager won't work on Note.
You need to flash custom kernel to get CWM
Hydracore and speedmod are known custom kernel for ICS
Thanks

[Q] Which ROM?

Hey, I'm new here and sorry for my bad English.
I want to Root my nexus 4 and as i have never used any ROM's, I want to ask couple questions.
Which ROM should i use?
I need a simple one because i don't need a fancy one because i wont use all of it features and stuff. I just need it to use couple programs that requires Rooted Phone.
So which ROM to use that wont kill my battery fast?
also someone told me that some ROM's keep nattery life bettet then non touched phone. Is that true?
Thanks in advance for your Help.
Cm10 would be a good one to start out with. Its very popular and quick and snappy. Used on many devices.

Ok any more suggestions??
does root affect somehow on the battery life? does it make it better or worse?
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
If you want to improve your device's battery life, then you should flash a custom kernel FIRST instead of choosing a custom rom

I prefer AOKP based ROMs with cherry picked CM features.
I don't like the battery icon options for AOKP though as CM percent Icon looks much nicer.

Simply rooting a device doesn't affect battery life. Rooting allows administrative rights to the device. That's it.

You don't need a kernel or ROM to root your phone. Most ROMs come with root. You need an unlocked boot loader and a custom recovery to root.

First you install adb platform-tools, unlock the bootloader and then inject superSU (root). Best way to unlock and root is to use CF-Auto Root imo, link http://download.chainfire.eu/297/CF-Root/CF-Auto-Root/CF-Auto-Root-mako-occam-nexus4.zip. Tutorial by efrant http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2010312&highlight=efrant.
Read up first about adb, rooting, kernels and custom roms before you kill your phone. Stock isn`t bad at all and learn about your phone .
