I have got an official update of 2.2.1 in my Milestone 2.1(Italian Version) recently.I understand that no further official update will be coming from Motorola. But I want update my phone to Gingerbread or, if possible, to Honeycomb.I am not that much technical expert to carry out the cumbersome procedures of rooting ,flashing etc.So is there a simple way to achieve my goal/Can anybody suggest and help me?Further, what is 2.4.24 update? Is it superior to Gingerbread? How can I get it?Please advise.
Thanking you,

2.4.24 is motorola build for Android 2.2.2 you can download it on motorola update or here --> http://and-developers.com/sbf:milestone2 but you should look for a tutorial here in the forum.
No Gingerbread update for M2 available now, some chinese guy said it will update in Q3 2011... Honeycomb is for tablets.=P
Argen2Stone is our only ROM.
Just browse a little bit through the forum to get root and stuff.
Edit: Is your phone Milestone 2 or 1??? You said Milestone 2.1, M2 comes with froyo (2.2) not eclair (2.1)
Sent from my Milestone 2
are you using Milestone 1 or Milestone 2?
the 2.2.2 update is for Milestone 2 which is not compatible with Milestone 1
hi
i'm not a real newby, i went from a miui defy
now i bought an atrix :
4.4.20.MB860.02.en.DE
ver 2.2.2
krnl 2.6.32.9
now i would upgrade the phone to :
CM7 Mod ICS (PreFinal)
and i'd like to know something about that:
1. differences between ICS cm7 and cm9
2. if i'll upgrade to ICS/cm7 can i back to my version with nandroid backup ?
3. with ICS/cm7 will i loose the warranty ?
4. the step to step procedure to upgrade to ICS/cm7 complete of instruction for root -bootloader - recovery etc
my phone is still motofactory

1. CM7 is not ICS. Its a mod of gingerbread. CM9 will be ICS.
2. You can back up your phone with clockwork recovery once you install it.
3. If you unlock your bootloader you always have chance of losing warranty. I did it and had ATT replace my phone no questions asked.
4. GO to dev section and click on the CM7 thread.
I recommend reading a lot!

tnx 4 answer
i read always a lot
one more question ...
if cm7 is not ICS and that version uses ICS framework and interface
what else is missing ? just the kernel ?
tnx
That rom is nothing more than the CM7 Weekly 4, re-themed to look like ICS...it is not ICS and any terms of "functionality"
i read the installation guide for cm7 ...
doesn't it need to unlock the bootloader ?
what's the way to root i have to use ?
i found this Root, Sideload & Tether Your Atrix 4G in the wiki page ... dated 19th February 2011
is that the right one ?
tnx 4 ur support
Try to read this first:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1154600
The one you mentioned is obsolete. You really need to read a lot more before you do anything on your phone.
tnx 4 the link
but i can't find nothing on rooting and unlocking the bootloader with froyo 2.2.2
all that stuff r 4 gingerbread

Too aid in unlocking boot loader. A little tech knowledge and know how you can get it done with research and patience.

you are obviously not reading carefully enough. if you're sure the info is written many many times, then go look for it. there is PLENTY of good walkthroughs to take you through the process especially swiftks's. this is not your baby daycare for us to spoonfeed you everything. figure things out yourself. you've already gotten a lot of good links to follow.
general steps (i will not hold your hand):
1. unlock your bootloader with pudding sbf
2. install romracer's recovery with fastboot
3. install the rom of your choice after wiping data/cache/system/preinstall/boot
4. install kernel that you want
5. reboot your phone.
if you can't follow those directions or figure it out from that, then you probably shouldn't be doing this in the first place. all this info is so easy to figure out.

Need Help
Hi,
I installed your firmware.
Problems:
1)While using bluetooth handsfree, after the call ends, iam getting FC error - process.com.android.phone has stopped...
2)2/3 times the phone hangs.Need to take battery out.
3)2/3 times screen goes black, hangs and rebooted.
Solution Tried:
Installed FC fix for XXJVU. Now the phone FC problem didn't come.
But the battery drains very very fast.
Pls help me with a solution.
Thanks.
plz remove the S+ prefix in the name of the thread coz it's confusing, an S+ (i9001) member might flash it and brick his device.

ICS CM9 IS still in (early) development and You expect it to be perfectly working? LOL Only thing not working there for me are MMS so looks like u flashed in wrong way? I recorded video just last night,USB works fine(u need diffrent drivers) and YT does the job. Anyway YES this one is stock+root as title says. 3 files to flash with ODIN
Looking at your phone model, you are in the wrong forum.
This is only for GT-I9000 aka Galaxy S
Yours is GT-I9100, which is Galaxy S2
So please check it on Galaxy S2 area.

Hi everyone,. I have sony ericsson xperia x10 and has the following information:
baseband: 2.1.71.
kernel version: 2.6.29.00054-g5f01537 [email protected] #1.
Build # 1.9.16 (MIUI).
Do you think there's some upgrade I can do to the phone from the point of the information above? Thanks. (please provide me with information not with links only)
If you have OS version 2.3.3 ; which I guess, than no.
You could use kany from loads from custom ROMs instead
Your MiUI version is old, you should flash one of the new roms.
Oh, sorry overlooked that it is MIUI...

why don't you update your kernel from 2.2 to 2.3? And I think 4.1.2rom is not fluency for our defy . if you have the kernel 2.3,you may update to kitcat~
update your phone . you need pay attention to the following list .
1.Use the software named RSD,the file is sbf ,sbf will change your bl,so, you need to know what's your phone bl;
2.you need to now what's your defy's lens,it's red or green;
3.you need a rom which is .zip some rom don't need to think about the kernel but someone discriminate.
o it's the first time I reply in English,if I say something wrong or you can't understand.please forgive it . haha I have a bad English. and I think I need someone to fix my grammer error。and when i speek english I don't know what I said above。。。
THX for the reply

Kernel version: 2.6.32.9don‘t care of this.
