Samsung has just issued a press release saying that sales of the Galaxy S III have surpassed 20 million units. The South Korean handset maker managed to hit this goal in just 100 days. They say that’s 6x faster than the original Galaxy S, and 3x faster than the Galaxy S II. The company even breaks things down by territory: 6 million units in Europe, 4.5 million in Asia, 4 million in North America, and finally 2.5 million in the country that they call home. We know that doesn’t add up to 20 million, but bear with us, there are other territories out there.
Now to put this 20 million figure into some perspective, 100 days is 10 days more than a quarter of the year. During the second quarter of 2012, Samsung sold over 52 million smartphones according to Juniper Research. Nokia, during the same quarter, shipped 10.2 million smartphones, of which 4 million were Lumia devices. Nokia also said that Lumia sales hit 7 million “to date” when publishing their Q2 data in mid-July. Considering that the Lumia hit the market in mid-November, that translates to less than one million Lumia sales per month. 20 million Galaxy S III units in 100 days is roughly 6 million units a month. That’s one phone versus Nokia’s current portfolio of four Lumia models. Impressive? You bet!
So what’s next? Well, the Note II was shown off last month and it’s expected to hit the market at some point in October. Without getting into all the details, think of the Note II as a Galaxy S III with a 5.5 inch screen and a stylus. There’s also Samsung’s Windows Phone 8 device, the ATIV S, though we don’t think that’s going to contribute much, if anything, to the company’s bottom line.
Samsung Galaxy S III sales hit 20 million units
20 millions delivered to retailers, 17 millions sold effectively !
Awesome! Congrats Samsung!
btw the third girl from the left looks like a doll.

Good to hear this news. After great success, most companies will fall into comfort zone and stop innovating. Let's hope Sammy don't behave like that.

Having alot of fun with this discussion over at the I9100 forums. So I'm posting it here so we can speculate on the new phone which seems beastly.
It also seems to look more like our phone do to the navigation buttons.

Yes, but Samsung's Galaxy S series of phones have always had the latest and greatest features available at the time of their release. This shouldn't be any different.
Those features are going to become standard on high-end phones by mid-2012
Edit: Only thing I disagree with is the 2GHz. That's just not practical.
Transformer prime runs at 1.3-1.4?GHz on Tegra3 and gets ~8 hours of battery life. That's with a tablet-sized battery. GS3 probably will ship with 1.2GHz or something, and it'll be up to XDA devs to push it to its' potential.
I have a hard time getting excited about new Samsung phones, because it seems like they always take forever to get released in the US.
I'm guessing an unannounced SGS3 probably won't be available on US carriers for until Christmas time. By then it's no longer exciting.

probably will be out in the next few months.
Won't be available subsidized by a US carrier until November.
will be nice to view new generation galaxy s2 secend year 2012
That has like nothing on the sides to protect the screen. I'm not hating... I'm actually looking forward to the next in the GS line but I really hope that's just an early prototype.
should I use my upgrade for a GS2 or wait for the GS3?
waiting for the S3 is the better choice i think .Other information say that the Samsung Galaxy S3 is with Quadcore-CPU, ICS, HD-Display and 12-MP-Camera
in February should Samsung release it or give us new information
It Rumors thet the S3 should be showing on the MWC 2012
The Quadcore-Prozessor of Galaxy S3 should be clocking at 1,5 or 1,6 GHz . The Special is the improvment in 3D. The Display should be an Super-AMOLED-HD-Display with 1.280 x 1.024and 326 ppi .
I hope its all true

Specs are being kept top secret and these guys at Samsung are very tight lipped about it.
On 23 April, Samsung begun a countdown for the next galaxy with an anagram.

Yesterday, the countdown finally stopped and a teaser for the upcoming galaxy was posted.
SUMMARY OF VIDEO ACCORDING TO ME----
The video begins in the wilderness showing a distant city, all lit up in the night. The camera then zooms into outer space along with text that reads ‘Where a galaxy fits perfectly into your hand’. This is a subtle hint that the phone won’t be as massive as the Galaxy Note or possibly, the Galaxy Nexus. I have a feeling Samsung may just stick to the 4.3-inch screen but with a much higher resolution. This makes perfect sense and I hope they do that.
The camera then pans out across different galaxies along with another line, ‘Your view of the world grows even wider’. This could hint at the aspect ratio of the new phone. Any Other Guess! Anyone.
Then, it goes deeper into the universe and text appears, "AS YOU GAIN THE POWER TO EXPLORE IT FREELY & SWIFTLY', this time i'm cluelss.
Here comes the funniest part, the iSheeps, which shows a herd of sheep and the line, ‘…everyone else’.
The video ends with the Samsung logo and those very same blobs of metallic paint we saw in the invite. This definitely hints to the type of material used in the chassis of the S III or if not, at least the colours it will be available in. Sadly, at this moment, we don’t have any real clue about the phone itself and looking at how Samsung is hyping their next-gen Galaxy phone, I really doubt those leaked pictures are the real deal.
It appears as if Samsung is trying to throw us off the track here into thinking that the GT-I9300 is indeed the S III, which it isn’t (at least, that’s what we hope). Only a few days are left for Samsung’s Mobile Unpacked 2012 event which will take place on May 3, so see you then.
So we let us suprise. Wow !!

I voted "don't know" it depends on a number of factors, it will have to beat the SGSII in every department for it to outsell it, price too will be a factor, many countries are in deep recession and many people cannot afford the luxury of shelling out big money on a smartphone so i hope Samsung don't vastly overcharge, €599 is far too much this is the figure that was given on the Amazon German website

With the Galaxy S3 being a huge success for Samsung, all eyes are on their S4 to follow up on that and Samsung isn’t slacking. In fact, looks like they’re already working on it and have plans to debut it early next year.

Rumors are already abound with the specs of the device, which include a 4.99-inch, Full HD Super AMOLED screen, a pixel density of 441 ppi, Adonis Exynos 5400 Series Chipset, at least 2GB of RAM, and an Cortex-A15 processor. Also, better contrast and refresh rates along with lower power consumption is in the cards. And Mobile Choice reports that Samsung plans to demo the phone at CES 2013 to release it on March 2013 instead of its usual summer release.
First glimpse of Samsung Galaxy S IV coming soon

First glimpse of Samsung Galaxy S IV coming soon
Company likely to show off 5-inch full HD display in January
Screens are becoming a key battleground when it comes to smartphones these days, so it's no surprise to hear that Samsung is set to show off the screen for its next flagship smartphone ahead of the phone itself.
Samsung will demonstrate a 4.99-inch Full HD Super AMOLED display at CES 2013, according to sources in Korea, who in turn cite inside sources from the company. The AMOLED panel is said to be 'very thin', with low power consumption, as well as high contrast and refresh rate. It also has 441ppi pixel density, which is more or less perfect human vision.
All well and good, but the problem right now is Samsung's ability to turn that technology into mass production. If the company can do that (and we really wouldn't be surprised of they do), the screen will be the one used in the Samsung Galaxy S IV, which is scheduled for launch in the second quarter of 2013.
Offering a full HD AMOLED will be a huge and unique selling point, so we suspect Samsung is currently working round the clock to get those production methods just right. If you happen to be anywhere a Samsung installation and you hear the sound of breaking glass, that's probably what is going on.
Regardless of that, the test screen should be shown off in less than a couple of months. We'll be there to get eyes-on to see it in action.

Yes, folks, you read that right. There’s the original Galaxy Grand, the just announced Galaxy Grand 2, and in a couple of months, there will be another Galaxy Grand sandwiched in between, dubbed the Galaxy Grand Lite (GT-I9060), according to one of our insiders. The device will be showcased at the MWC in late February, and is*something of a cross Grand and Grand 2 – it will have a 5-inch WVGA screen, 1.2GHz quad-core processor, 1GB of RAM, 8GB internal storage with microSD slot, and a 2,100mAh battery.
Where it differs is the camera and Android version. The camera is expected to be a 5-megapixel unit on the rear and a very standard VGA camera on the front; our insider says the phone will run on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean – that’s probably just temporary, and the final product should have at least Android 4.3 out of the box. Dual SIM support is pretty much a given as well, as the Galaxy Grand has been a success in markets where phones with two SIM slots are quite popular (such as India and China), though that’s something we can’t confirm at this point.

The Galaxy Grand Lite will be available in white, “Midnight Black”, “Lime Green”, and orange, from somewhere around the fifth week of 2014 (a couple of weeks before the MWC showcase). Why is Samsung making a Galaxy Grand Lite? Well, that’s a tough question to answer – it looks like the Korean company is taking things a step further when it comes to having multiple variants of their devices, this time extending the tradition to a device that comes somewhere in the lower mid-range spectrum of the market. It’s not a move that makes any sense to us, but hey, we aren’t making the decisions over at Samsung HQ.

Lol.....there was a time when NOKIA was at its highest peak. But in the course of time,it starting descending very poorly. You know why, because of their poor software. Symbian was good at initial stage but afterwards it couldn't stand firm in the growing android and ios competition. I had Nokia n8 and its OS was more than crap and slow. There was lack of development for it and most importantly less number of apps. In addition to these reosons there were also many flaws in It which lead SYMBIAN to its DEATH. While if we move to SAMSUNG,I don't think so same thing will happen with it. Because Samsung phones run ANDROID which is one of the best OSes in today's market. And hopefully it will grow more and more rapidly with the course of time. The prime reoson which can cause SAMSUNG to its death is its softare optimization. The Ui and physical condition. But Samsung Is keeping its place by doing well with its UI. Well let's hope for better for both

I have to say, Apple usually has great designs, but its new Watch is downright ugly. I also prefer the design of the 5S to the iPhone6. Not that I care so much, Imma buy the Note 4.
they completely miss the innovator (the boss)...

64gb £619
128gb £699
Literally any 2012 android flagship is better
iphone 6+:
16gb £619
64gb £699
128gb £789
literally any phablet is better, never mind the note 2, 3, 4.
My brother uses iPhone and when I ask him about features he said "it just works".. lol
He also said Android crashes alot. Not sure where he heard that my stock rooted n4 had never " crashed".
I think though the iPhone would be ok if the price was inline with premium android phones. I really like the build quality but the price is insane. The day I go out and spend over $1100 for a phone is the day it will have lady parts.

We all laugh because iPhone 6/6+ finally add things we had in 2012, but in reality I'd say Apple finally caught back up to Android. All the main features of Android are now present in the iPhone 6/6+. I'm shocked that Apple finally gave up Steve Jobs' silly notion that large screens are bad. 4.7" and 5.5" are solid screen size options that cover most people'swishes.
You still have to deal with Apple's closed ecosystem. In terms of phone lockdown, though, since carriers in the US are locking down Android handsets more and more that point becomes less of an issue here in the US.
I'm still primarily considering Note 4 and Nexus X/6/5(2014)/whatever to replace my Note II, but this is finally a new serious contender from Apple.
