Tried fox fi myself still getting redirected. what did you end up using as your apns? Also what type of device are you tethering with. on my Nexus 7. Just wondering I I would have to use pdanettabtlet

I'm using the regular epc.tmobile.com access point at the moment but I flipflop between it and the old voice stream apns. I've tethered to: two Laptops, a PS3, and my fiancée's One S. (She's still on the 2GB plan)
I'm doing this on the latest Euroskank Jellybro for the One S, and I'm using the regular built in WiFi tethering feature.
If all else fails change your useragent to Opera or Android, and that should stop the redirections. T-Mobile can only monitor the fluctuations of data used and your userstring to determine if you're tethering.

Got it to work on using fox fi and pdanet tablet on the nexus 7. only works on bluetooth dun not wifi hotspot for some reason. shame though because when attempting to download from the play store or attempting to stream netflix it gives an erros "waiting for connection"

So is there still no way to stop T-Mobile from slowing down ur internet speed??

You could always just use less than 2GB. That works for me. \troll
No. They do have other data options though. As well as 2GB there are also 5GB & 10GB options.... I have the 5GB option on my Nexus S and the 10GB option on my Sensation.....

switch to sprint where there are no caps lol, just kidding, see if they offer more data for you particular package
Is simple mobile data better than t-mobile? Is it really unlimited and stays at 4g with no cap?

There is defiantly a 1 Gb cap and I went through the Mytouch 3G, Mytouch slide and Mytouch4G while with them and always had problems with mms messages it's like if the picture size was to big it was a problem receiving pictures.
Never heard of simple mobile is it like tmobile ?
I had a mytouch4g. I loved the phone but hated the service from T-Mobile. I would get no bars of 3g in my home. I couldn't browse the web or download apps without getting on my wifi. Calls were dropped all the time. It would also take hours to send and receive pictures. I got fed up and got a phone with Verizon and I'm loving the reception.

It's a MVNO using T-Mobile's network.
I been with simple mobile for about 6months now and there is no data cap regardless of what some people believe.
But if you use up too much bandwidth with apps like Netflix they will throttle you back to 2g .
I'm always streaming music or on the net or on YouTube and I haven had any issue with that.just don't use Netflix or any app similar or any bittorrent or tethering and you will be fine.

There speeds are the same as T-mobile but 1 thing I totally forgot if you use data to fast they will throttle you instantly 1 month I was on a flashing spree and instead of restoring my apps on wifi I was doing it on the network. They throttled me with a little over 1Gb of use they figured I was using my phone as a Hot spot and would not unthrottle me after I called to complain and tell them I was leaving.

I'm unsure if FoxFi plays nice with anyone on 4.1 and above. When I updated the Droid Razr M and (T-Mobile) Galaxy S III at my job to 4.1, they both stopped working and FoxFi suggested that I use PDA Net. I haven't tried it since then, but I'd love to know because I'm looking to use FoxFi on my Nexus 4 when it arrives.
Why is there a need to use a 3rd party app? The wifi tether built into the OS works fine.
I think doesn't work on truly unlimited.

Change the user agent on your pc to an android phone from the carrier.
It functions, but the Tether built into Android works...
Note tethering on Straight Talk is against to TOS.

Does it still work until now? If yes, could you share that UA string?
I just got a nexus 4, I'm on att and I pulled my sim directly from an iPhone 5, use an adapter.
It works fine and gets data and it will show and H, when I'm on H+, does it show the +?
Or does the H represent H and H+?
Do I new to create a custom apn other than what the phone assigned stock?
Thanks, just want the fastest speeds I can get.
Don't know what APN you're using, so you may be leaving some speed on the table.... But you are correct that the "H" represents all forms of HSPA, including +

Some Roms actually show the plus also and there's also a thread to show you how to make it show the H, H+ or 4G if that's your preference. Sorry for not linking it, kind of a pain to do from the xda app.

I get pretty good speeds with "phone". I usually get between 3 and 5mbps where I live which is fine for me. What speeds are you getting? I never even looked at the stock setting because I unlocked, rooted and flashed xylon right away. Was stock the WAP.Cingular APN?

It's because of how the iPhone LTE plan you came from is provisioned. It's different than the rest of their LTE plans. Just leave "phone" instead of "pta" and you'll be fine.

I was hoping to get some opinions on this idea since T-Mobile's coverage is pretty bad in my neighborhood. I'm thinking of porting my number to Google voice then pointing it to a Skype number and running it all through clear 4g for $50/mo unlimited with unlimited calling on Skype for $3/mo. Thoughts?

Depends on if you want to have a phone when you really need it. VoIP is useless without a high speed connection.
