Hello there folks,
I am new to all this Android & Samsung galaxy S III world...
I recently bought Samsung galaxy S III (U.S. Cellular variant).
I know U.S. cellular is CDMA but it does have a SIM card slot.
I want to know if I root and unlock my cellphone, will I be able to use my AT&T connection.
Thanks for help.

No.
Sim slot is for LTE.

You can't take a CDMA phone and use it on GSM or vice versa. The technologies are incompatible.

I read this article about cracking open a Sprint Galaxy Tab over at techrepublic (sorry - !'m not allowed to post links...)
The Sprint version of the Tab doesn't have a slot for a SIM card since it's CDMA. But is the hardware completely different from the SIM versions? Is there a SIM reader inside the Sprint Tab, so that one could crack it open and insert the SIM card (and install new firmware/unlock the unit)??
I'm very interested as my Sprint Tab cannot go on 3G abroad.
Thanks!
Not gonna happen,Sprint tab has cdma radio which is different from GSM. Cdma devices don't use sim cards period.

I'm a straight talk user living in the USA. For me to continue using straight talk what phone do you recommend? Should I get the AT&T or T-Mobile version of the S5?
My S3 is an AT&T version.
Thanks.

What about HPSA+ and 4G/LTE on T-mobile?

Thanks. I had read some message traffic that says AT&T version would be able to fully use 4G/LTE networks while T-mobile is limited to HPSA+? Originally I thought those were two different names for the same thing (AT&T calls LTE, HPSA+) but apparently they are different. Doesn't LTE provide better speeds than HPSA+?
Also for my S3, I have a Straight Talk AT&T SIM. Do I need a different SIM for Straight Talk using the T-mobile version of the S5?

T-Mobile does provide LTE speeds as well but straight talk's T-Mobile is only 3G so your best bet is to get the T-Mobile S5 and unlock it and use straight talk's AT&T Sim card you currently have (given that it's a micro Sim card)

My Husband recently bought a Samsung Galaxy S4 mini. Come to find out it's on CDMA network. I have unlocked the phone and rooted it. I need to know if it is possible to switch this cdma phone to gsm network?

you might want to look in the forum for the phone in question. this is a generic forum.
usually, cdma phones are not compatible with GSM... though it's always good to check, i've only seen a few phones capable of both cdma and gsm.
Good luck. check out the galaxy mini forum, and don't forget about the search button. welcome to xda ^_^
I have a AT&T galaxy S4 and would like to put it on Sprint.
do I need to or Can I use a sprint Rom on it? is there anything else I would need to do?

Don't believe there is anyway to do that.
AT&T uses GSM networks while Sprint uses CDMA networks. Two different radios and signals.
Sprint phones sometimes have a SIM slot but that is mostly for LTE. Some Sprint phones can be unlocked to use on AT&T but not vise versa.

sm-e500h Galaxy 5 from Thialand
Ok so we got an exchange student last week from Thailand and she has a Galaxy 5 sm-e500h I am digging for information on this model to see if it can support CDMA since it has a dual sim card reader. But I think its only GSM or WCDMA. Ugh because gsm coverage sucks around the lake. Can somebody please confirm this. I have seen xcdma mentioned also. Is there any way this phone could work on US CDMA towers? More specicly StarightTalks CDMA network? I am thinking I am a lost cause and might as well just welcome her to gsm or have to get her another phone but I just want to make sure before I pull the plug on this idea.
