That's the page I'm in. Message in inbox can be highlighted but it will not open for me...
EDIT: meant to add this works fine for IE just not in Opera.
same problem here. I get logged on but can't click on the inbox. Does someone know the solution for Opera? (except IE).
i have the same annoying problem!
but then again, will stick back to IE for hotmails..
same here. I can't even log on or register my details through the touch flo tab. is there an apple rights type thing going on here?
Have you guys tried to open in another tab??
Grtz,
Degake
ive tried setting hotmail up throught tf3d and it allows the username and password, then it says settings found, please click next to continue, but as i do, it take me to mobile.live.com rather than the next step??
anyone know whats going wrong?
I had the same problem, so I did a back up, and a hard reset, to wipe everything, and when I came to set up my email hotmail account, it works just fine now.. I get the messages as they arrive..
so after the reset you were able to continue the registration and settings without it directing you to windows live page?
unless you enter an alternative email provider it won't let me enter settings manually
Yes. First I had the emails downloading to my phone, and showing in the inbox.. Then for some reason, I messed it up and tried to re set up an account, and every time I was being directed online to Windows live page..
I did a hard reset, not a soft reset.. It tells you how to do it on the HTC support page. That wipes everything off the phone, so make sure you back up any information or programs you want.
After I reset the phone , I tried my hotmail account again, and it works fine..
ok thanks very much. been reluctant to do the hard reset as its taken forever to customize and tweak to my liking. and that's just the shortcut menus.
here goes...
Hope it works for you like it did me..
and I kinda enjoyed tweaking mine and getting it set up again.
Good luck. let me know how it goes.
ive only just done a hard reset because i could install Framework 3.5, it there any other way to setup hotmail again, registry edit maybe?
also how do you get them delivered straight to your phone, a friend of mine who also has a HD says you have to manually sync.
did you guys know that you can set up hotmail into your mail tab now yeah?
to set it up, go to the mail tab > Menu > Accounts > New Account
when asked to enter your email address, enter your hotmail address, but with an error after the "@" sign. for example, if my email addy was "[email protected]", i would enter it as "[email protected]" (notice there is no "l" in "hotmail.com"). Enter your hotmail log-in password here as well.
Insert your name as you would like to appear on outgoing messages, and an account display name to show for your own navigation (mines is simply called "Hotmail", since i only use one hotmail account).
For the incoming mail server: pop3.live.com
Account type POP3
your username will be your hotmail email address (the correct version this time), and your normal password, as you would enter on the hotmail login page.
For outgoing mail: smtp.live.com
tweak other/advanced settings to your liking (and data plan - orange UK data plans suck).
Once you've set your account up, click on Start (top left corner) > Messaging > [your hotmail account] > Edit Account Setup. Now correct your emaill address that you originally inserted incorrectly, and continue pressing next till you get to the end.
Now your hotmail should be working fine.. no need to use opera at all

hi. I followed this advice from another thread which I can't find now.
but after I do all that and I go to Menu > Send Receive, there is an error in syncing and have to check my connection settings.
where am I going wrong?
in the process of backing up atm..
if your trying to do send/receive through TF3d, you can try doing send/receive through windows itself (i.e. go to start > messaging > hotmail > menu > send/receive)
see if that works. if it works fine, then automatic updates should work fine as well. I also get an error sometimes while trying to update via TF3D (only on hotmail), but it works fine if i do an update through windows.
phew! thanks for all suggestions so far. managed to set up using wifi. works perfectly.
problem is.. it only works with wifi.
when I attempt to send/receive through my t mobile connection it says I have to check my service provider etc. which I'll probably do tomoz

How to connect to a Windows 2008 AD server

I just tried connecting my WM6.5 phone to my Windows 2008 server via wi-fi, and had problems as usual. I thought I'd share the quick solution for those that come across this problem.
The problem is that my server is also an active directory controller, and hence has an extra layer of security that needs to be dealt with. Basically it's one setting and a reboot.
When I tried connecting to it via Total Commander, it returns error 53.
A reference to the change needed is at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/823659 down at the section entitled "Microsoft network server: Digitally sign communications (always)". You have to change this setting to disabled.
To do this, open up Group Policy Management under Administrative Tools, then navigate to Forest: <your domain>, then Domains -> <your domain> -> Group Policy Objects -> Default Domain Policy.
Right click on Default Domain Policy and select "Edit". This opens the Group Policy Management Editor. (I'm sure there's a faster way to open this thing but there you go).
Within the Group Policy Management Editor, go to Computer Configuration -> Policies -> Windows Settings -> Security Settings -> Local Policies -> Security Options.
That will list all the policies on the right. Select "Microsoft network server: Digitally sign communications (always)", open it, click on "Define this policy setting", and click "disabled". Click Ok, close everything, and reboot.
Note that the kb article (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/823659) says that you only need to do a Net stop server/net start server, but this didn't work for me.
Once I rebooted the server I was able to access shares on my phone.

[Q]

Hello XDA members,
I've been trying really hard to get this setup work but it's just not happening
I keep getting error like "authentication methods are not supported by server"
Here are the settings.
http://email.vsnl.in/WebSMSAlert/popmailsettings.htm
I tried to follow these settings but when it comes to outgoing server settings, the port number is given 2525 which doubts me is the wrong one as I get the error "unable to open connection to server"
Before you start:
* Please ensure that you know your user name (this is usually the full email address) and password.
* Italicised text is used throughout this guide to demonstrate example settings. This should not be copied directly!
Set up POP3 email on an Android or Google Nexus Phone
1. If this is the first account you’re setting up on the Google Android device, tap Mail. Otherwise, from the Home screen choose “Mail > Menu > More > New Account…”
2. By tapping the option at the bottom of the list, set the account type as “Other (POP3/IMAP)” and select “Manual Setup”
3. Set up your POP3 email Google Android or Nexus Phone
Then input the following information:
1. Protocol - set to POP
2. Email address - the e-mail address that you are going to be using (e.g. [email protected])
3. Username - This will be the user name you were given when the account was created (usually the full email address for the account, complete with @ symbol)
4. Password – The password will also have been supplied to you, please note the password is case sensitive
5. POP Server - In the same way that your website with us is found at www.yourdomainname.co.uk the Host Name needs to be set to mail.yourdomainname.co.uk
6. Security Type- From the list of options, select none
7. Server Port – Change port number to 110
4. Set up your POP3 email Google Android or Nexus Phone
Then click next:
1. Check the “Login Required” tick box and then re-enter your user name and password (if not auto filled)
2. SMTP Server -Type in mail.yourdomainname.co.uk
3. Security Type- Select none from list of options
4. Server Port – Change port number to 2525
5. Click next and then save your details.
6. Your mail account is now ready for use.

HD2 WP7 Activesync

This may be old news but - if you're hesitant about activating your HD2 but still want to sync with windows live - you can use the hotmail-activesync server settings (m.hotmail.com) to access and sync your email(+push), contact and calendar.
Mate thats spot on. Just done that on my phone and it worked straightaway!
Many thanks for the suggestions, greatly appreciated
No problem. If you can live without the market place then this gives you the rest of the live services.
I'll activate once i know what MS decide to do, if anything.....
hmmm so how do i do this? will this sync word docos etc

Google (And XDA search) is your mightiest friend
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=704025
KrewsialNL: Thanks for adding the link.
rainsey: No not word docs just your calendars, contacts and email (incl push). For documents you could just email them to your hotmail account on your pc? not quite syncing but it will get the file on your handset without too much fuss.
I have a sharepoint 2010 account except the server uses basic authentication and i can't use the url to list the docs i use. I can assess them via webpage list for my docs but this is annoying it would of been nice to have the list maintained on WP7 or have sync like wm6.x.
Hotmail and skydrive is not the sync that i want to use or trust
I went to "Advanced Setup" under "Add an Account" and tried the following settings:
email: [email protected]
server address: m.hotmail.com
SSL enabled
username: [email protected]
password: password
Domain: <blank>
It won't let me click sign in with a blank domain so I assume that you just put a couple of random letters in there.
Then it keeps saying that the account information is incorrect, I've checked it 3 timees to make sure. Any ideas?
Nearly.... when you first set the account up put a couple of random characters in the domain field so you can complete the set up (the button to finish is not available until something is entered for the domain).
Once you've completed the set-up try syncing. It will fail and say theres an error with the account settings. but.... you're then offered a chance to change your username and password or modify the the advance settings.
Now if you go into the advanced settings you can delete the entry for the domain so it is completely blank - except this this time the option to complete the settings can be selected.
That should work

[Q] please help

thanks
Please dont title your subjects with "please help", that should be part of your post not juts used as title, titles should be descriptive of subject as per rules. For example it should be "Problem with email and data/wifi connection" or something along those lines.
Haven't you considered moving over to Android? Much better OS for user friendliness.
Go to the Mail Tab -> Inbox -> Menu -> Tools -> Options
Select your account
Select: Edit Account Setup -> Next -> Next -> Next -> Next -> Advanced Server Settings. Set the Network Connection to The Internet.
This means that if your phone is connected to the internet by WiFi then it will use that method. If it is not, then it will start up the phone networks data connection.
As a side note, are you using Hotmail as an exchange account?
Set up a new account, select Outlook. Enter email address and password. Select Manual Setup.
User name: full email address
Domain: \
Server Address: m.hotmail.com
