I've lost my phone, haven't blocked it yet or anything in the hope that Microsoft my Phones locate service will help me out. When i lost it was low on Juice, by now it would have died so the locate service isn't working... Im hoping that someone has found it, charges it, sticks their sim card in it and it will be locatable...
Is this the case? The phone will broadcast the IMEI number regardless of what sim is in it yeah? If microsoft my phone isn't finding it, and i'm phoning it several times a day and its saying 'It has not been possible to connect your call, please try again later', im hoping that its dead? If someone was actively using it with a different sim card I would be able to track it right?
I've pretty much written it off now, assuming i'll never find it, i've come to terms with that, but there's always that little bit of hope... Can anyone help please?
Cheers.
Bump.
Sorry to be a pain guys but just a bit of clarification is all i'm after.
Cheers.
Wouldn't it just go right to answerphone if the battery was dead?
Hello, friend. I am really sorry that your phone is gone..I am sure that really stinks...
Well, first: I have never tried that or spoke to a mobile rep about that, but since your phone has a specific adress and its like a vin number, i believe is the IMEI #. And GPS and everything are still in the phone. They can`t delete them or change them. Thus i believe its possible that if you call a Rep and tell them to locate it or something like that, are they supposed to help you? I've heard that iphones have that fiture, that if you loose your phone, they can track it.
That's just my 2 cents. I hope I gave you some hope... Good look mate!
Not good news I'm afraid mate. I've seen quite a few people on here say that the premium MyPhone services don't work.
If someone were to charge it and put a new SIM in it then when they switched it on it would be just like it was when you last had it, so MyPhone would run as often as you had it set to. (I don't know if the tracking is updated upon request or when it syncs.)
If I were you, I'd report it missing, both to your provider and your insurance company. Bad times mate.
so this whole microsoft my phone tracking service doesn't work? Has anyone, or anyone heard of it working...? Would o2 track it and tell me where it is? I heard they won't due to privacy infringement or whatever...but surely thats what these service are in place for, to find a lost phone?
thanks for your replies so far guys.

Have you tried phoning O2 to ask them? It sounds like you've not exactly been too proactive with regards to recovering or safe guarding your phone thus far.
ive been phoning it every day and trying to track it. ive got in touch with the local police station to find out if its been handed in but i cant do that without saying its been stolen and filing a report which im reluctant to do right now if this microsoft my phone service works...

I'm assuming you don't have insurance? I'd think it's safe to say you've lost it, i'd file a report with the local police and try to claim via the insurance if you have it. Getting the IMEI barred is a real last ditch attempt as you can't remove the barred number from your countrys network once it's been done.
The myphone service is linked to the phone by your windows live ID. i would lock it asap with myphone, making the phone useless unless a hard-reset has been performed... After a hard-reset myphone wont be linked to your live ID anymore
I've tried the myphone premium services, and i can confirm that they work. If your phone cant be located, its just bad luck.
good luck to you my friend!

that's why i'm reluctant to block it and report it, once i clock it, i can't keep trying to locate it. if i keep trying to locate it and I fail, i'll lock it via microsoft my phone and put the message for them to contact me, leave it a couple of days, if nothing, block it through o2 with the imei. When i click get started its saying that i can try more than 2 times within a week, so ill have to wait until thursday to try it again i think.
EDIT: Can i still locate it i lock it through myphone not blocking the imei?

Apparently you can.
'For 7 days, My Phone will try to lock your phone. You can check the status of your lock request by returning to this page at any time.'
Have a look there, 3rd one down it gives you the usual Microsoft vague answers.

hm, so it will try to lock the phone for 7 days, but doesn't tell us if once locked, we can still track it?
thanks for your reply you've been a great help!

Microsoft are just as usual usless absolultely usless at giving you any information on any product or service they offer on their own website, and it doesn't actually say anywhere if you can still locate it. But it would be completely pointless if you locked it and it wouldn't let you actually locate the handset, so I would guess you could.
IIRC you can get it to display a custom message when it's locked from myphone. "Hi, thanks for finding my phone. Please call me on xxx-xxx-xxxx to claim your reward!"
that is correct yeah but then once locked, can i still locate it or am i souley relying on the finder to return it?

Even if it does locate it, it's gonna be in a 50m radius, at best. Probably more in the region of a 200m radius, which is nearly the same as not knowing where it is.
If you can get it to lock and display a message, leave it for a little while and then get it blocked via the imei.
I have a replacement sim card being used in a temporary phone at the moment, I just tried to lock the phone, why am I getting a coded text to this number, surely it should be trying to lock my imei not my number?

It has still got to send the phone a locking command, which is what you are getting.
As you are using a replacement SIM with the same number, you are in fact, preventing yourself from using any of the MyPhone functions, as there is no way to connect to the lost phone.

Fatal error.
I followed galaxys4root . com's tutorials on how to flash an i9505 (T-Mobile) rom onto your i337 (AT&T) and how to get around the bootloader and how to enable LTE bands on the phone. For the last step of making it truly a T-Mobile phone I tried inserting a T-Mobile SIM and unlocking the device. I called AT&T and got the unlock code but it won't work. I tried a few codes before that, thinking that it'd be my pin or last 4 of my social or whatever (stupid in hindsight). I've called back twice and the IMEI number I gave them was right and the unlock code they gave me was also correct. The last time I called back they said that if you enter the wrong Unlock code more than 5 times it permanently locks the phone to AT&T. I googled that but didn't come up with anything about that. The phone doesn't display anything about a "freeze" or anything, it simply shows an unlock/dismiss option when I put in a non AT&T SIM card. It works fine with an AT&T sim, I can make calls and send texts and browse the web, but when I insert the T-Mobile SIM I want to use it still asks for the unlock code. I've looked online and around this forum for hours and cannot find ANY method to get this thing unlocked. Any help?
Thanks in advance for your time...
What they are saying if you get the code wrong 5 times, it locks the phone permanently for ATT only. And I would call back to Att and say you are still having issues with the code, your in the system now with them, make them work. Get Em! My wife loves this kinda stuff, she is ruthless.
Really?

Hey guys, Im using LG G2 D801 (T-Mobile).
The phone out of nowhere stopped accepting the network I was using (other than T-Mobile) and the phone got locked. After searching all through the internet I found out the unlocking option code (number) but before entering the unlock code it says The phone is locked permanently, and I never ever even tried to unlock it before.
I would really appreciate if anyone would help me fix this, I just got this phone. I'm going crazy!

If you had another sim before on your g2 and it suddenly got locked then I suggest to contact Tmobile about that. Did you bought the phone secondhand? If so do you think it might've been stolen?

Umm, I got this phone from a person who's brother sent it all the way from US 3 days back. And that guy also used local network's sim for 3 days continously and he didnt even get a hint of such blocking thing.
Maybe they give a specific time, or the sim changing created the issue?

I am not sure but I think Tmobile can give us the answer why your phone got permanently locked out of nothing. So my best advice is to contact Tmobile about that cause they can't lock it like that with no reason.

Well your phone is already blocked abit :/ but you can still use wifi right? But I still wonder why they randomly blocked it.
Defo? If its country locked they cant just block it like that. Only thing why they can do that is if the phone got stolen. I suggest you to also search about the perm simlock or there is someway to bypass it. I will also try to search a bit but its getting late ;p.

Duh I replied ya, dunno where the heck my post went.
Anyways, yea I can use wifi and all and I'm afraid if I lose the grip to that thing too .
That guy tells me to reset the phone as I entered a new sim but I wont do it, as I've used G2 Vs980 and it somewhat had the same thing Whenever I used to reset the phone it used to get lock and wont work until I put a valid sim into it, but it had a procedure or unlocking or idk what should i call it. You just had to press a couple of buttons and the phone to used to bypass or skip that setup thing. But as Idk any kind of procedure or this model or idk if any procedure will on it either I cant do it.
Anyways, I'll go to a professional unlocker or something and see uf he can help.

Hi there guys,
I seem to have an issue, on my LG V20 H918 I order an unlock code. I figured out a method to make it prompt for the code and bypass the T-Mobile unlocking app all together, however, here's the issue.
I received Three codes in with the markers
NCK:8565570142041856
SPCK:9791172928931644
NSCK:2448289909387735
NOTE: Codes included because they do not identify me or my device directly.
First I entered NCK and got "Network unlock successful" and went on assuming that was the end to it, however, after rebooting it prompts me for the Network Unlock Pin again. After entering the same (NCK) I was this time told the unlock was unsuccessful, so I tried the other codes provided all with the same Network unlock request unsuccessful response.
So my ultimate question is, what the you suppose the first success did and how can I finish the job? If it weren't for me figuring out how to access manual code entry, I wouldn't have spent money on this code.
How I accomplished bypassing the unlock app and getting a unlock prompt was by flashing AOKP and booting with a unauthorized SIM card, I'm just confused because what did that first successful unlock do? Why would it prompt me for the unlock code again and not accept the first successful code. I'm not sure if my device is unlocked or not at this point considering that, is it possible that the initial successful unlock enabled another band to be used in an unlocked state or even unlocked the device just the app does another step I'm failing to do manually to finalize this unlock.
I'd appreciate your opinions and advice in this situation, I personally feel like this might lead to something or either I'm running into a dead end another individual has also.
If you pay for it on like an installment plan you have to pay it off completely before you can unlock it. They keep it locked so you don't just do a promo and leave to someone like AT&T.

I'm not actually sure what the status of this device was, I bought it 3rd party from an Ebay seller. Any speculation on what the first "Unlock request successful" did if anything?
No idea unlocking phones isn't my specialty. But possibly the phone is blacklisted which is making it hard to unlock. Honestly what I'd do is take it to a T-Mobile store and ask them what's up.

Tried giving them a call, they appear to get very rude when they hear the word "unlock" which is sad, I take it they don't particularly care for people getting device unlocks? She hung up on me and the other agent just completely shut me off, she tried to offer me a contract but no further details which is really irritating.
That's unlike their service. It's possible you called at a bad time. More mid day is when they're as helpful as can be. I would take it to a store if possible and just tell them your situation I've done that before and they bent over backwards for me at my store.

Unfortunately, nothing more. Still haven't managed to figure out exactly what it did, I did discover that the phone does not have money owed on it.. Not entirely sure what the chock this up to really. I cannot replicate the results to investigate with logcat, I know that my attempts didn't permanently lock my device thankfully.
Does anyone know why the OEM unlocking option in the Developer Options is greyed out? I contacted T-Mobile and they will give me an unlock code within the next 48 hours. However, I cannot turn on the OEM unlocking option. It's currently off. Help, please.

Have you not been paying attention?
The T-Mobile version is BL locked until paid off.
Once paid off the IMEID must be provided via a form to get an unlock code.
Do you own it the phone or you're financing?

Good, after you get the unlock code and unlock the phone the option will be un-grayed. Also, if you haven't got the code yet, just try the unlock app, it's likely that'll work.

There is no SIM Unlock code to get on T-Mobile phones, you're either eligible/approved to get the phone SIM Unlocked or not.
When you select Permanent Unlock,it will unlock, reboot the phone, the Device Unlock app disappears & that's it.
Then,if you wish, you're free to OEM unlock/get the token from OnePlus,etc.............

Exactly, just wanted to emphasize, since there's still some that "didn't get the memo" & keep asking about it/checking their e-mails for something that'll never arrive/etc........
That's why I don't mess with chats/Twitter/etc...... a phone call to your dedicated Team Of Experts during normal working hours will get accurate information vs the off-hours overseas non-T-Mobile employee support.
It's obvious they're reading scripts & sorely outdated ones at that.
