Hi, how are you all.
This time i bring to you a issue that i had been since i had the i9100.
It turns out that, the integrated SIP calling feature included singe gingerbread has a big issue that it looks like somehow have been fixed on the latest XXDLH9 on the i9300.
The issue is that when you are on a SIP call, the DTMF system just dont work.
I mean this.
If you make a SIP call to, let´s say, a Interactive Voice Response system like a PBX with options, etc and if you want to select one option using the keyboard, it just doesnt work, the buttons do nothing.
I just updated my i9300 with the latest XXDLH9 and it appears that this issue has been fixed on this version (XXDLH8 still has the issue).
So my question is.
What was it?
I ask this, because i need to solve this on some i9100 of clients of mine but i dont know how, i just know that XXDHL9 on i9300 solve the problem.
Anyone know how can this be solved?
thanks.
Can you not just use SIPdroid?

Looks like all the latest roms for i9300 has this issue corrected, buit the old ones and the i9100 (even latest) roms doesnt have this corrected, what could it be? what possible had their changed to make it work?
I confirm this issue. Using stock GT-I9300 with ICS 4.0.4 and the native SIP client with callcentric and voip.ms.
Google Voice is not hearing any tones either.
NO DTMF!
Anyone knows how to fix this please?
Happy to report that Jelly Bean fixes the problem. Upgraded tonight via (the really annoying buggy and annoying) Kies.
DTMF tones now work and it changes everything for me with this phone.

Money is burning a hole in my pocket and just want to confirm that it can be hacked to do standard voice calls.
Can anyone confirm that this is doable?

Can you install Google Voice and use your Google phone number on it?

Nimbuzz seems to work quite well for outgoing calls. Haven't tried incoming.
Tango works for incoming and outgoing but requires the Tango apps to be installed on the device being called. It's available for the Android, iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad.
Both are free, in the Android Market and work over 3G / WiFi.
delete this post pls. didnt read the topic well
Asia (Taiwan) purchased version has full phone features. Don't know if I need to use my N1 on a daily basis now. Tab does (ALMOST) everything.
Hey all, newbie to the forums and didn't see a thread anywhere so I started one.
I'm running my dx with apex 2.0 and if it makes a difference, I have the tbh tether patch flashed.
Anyway, I installed the google+ app and now my phone shows incoming calls, but it does not ring out loud. However, it does ring for sms and alarms. I've narrowed it to google + app by restoring to a clockwork backup and testing it to see if it rings, and as soon as I reinstalled g+, I was again given the silent treatment on all incoming calls.
Anyone have any ideas?

I just did a test call...and I'm not experiencing the same thing.
Recently installed G+ myself.
(I'm on CM7.)
Download an audio manager or maybe check your incoming call volume in sounds?
I've no idea bud.
Thanks for the quick reply. But that's the problem i'm having is sound settings force closes on me when I try to open it . I'll try the audio manager, any recommendations?

I'm on Apex 2 RC3, I was getting DSPManager crashes a few days ago, but that's stopped since, probably due to a reboot. I'm assuming you went directly into the sound settings to verify they're correct, or is that actually what's crashing?
I had some weird issues with apex as well, I could call people but couldn't actually talk to them, I couldn't find a fix or fix it myself, it seems alot of people have random issues with apex, I don't know if its the rom itself or whether the g apps package is the issue, I ended up moving on to a different rom after I couldn't fix the phone issues as obviously I need that, I wish you luck in finding a fix

Sorry, haven't been on for a few days. But even after not installing g+, the issue has recreated itself so it looks like a titanium backup and re flash is coming tomorrow.
But to answer your question, the sounds settings is what crashes, I can't access anything within the menu.
Thanks for the replies, I'll post again if it happens after re flashing

Update: figured it out. For some reason it changed my default ringtone and would force close when I went to sound settings, but when I selected an mp3 file and set that file as a ringtone without using sound settings to do so, it seemed to clear up all my issues. Hope this helps someone

Not sure if this has been mentioned before.
I tried the following web page instructions for SGIIS and it added in the SIP VOIP
framework for the Galaxy Note
http://www.inspiredgeek.com/2011/07...laxy-s2-sii-for-making-calls-on-wi-fi-and-3g/
Just confirmed it works! received voip call instantly via voip number! Awsome... Hate how cool features like this are left out from the stock builds... Lucky for all of us android is so open
2 microphones work?
If not, better to use CsipSimple..

How can I have confirmation that the stack was succesfully applied?
When I place a phone call through the default dialer with Wi-Fi on I don't get asked how to do it.
Dont have my Note yet, but already subscribing here, just in case

No, it doesn't belong in development, it belongs in general, as there is no original content created by the OP.
It does work but uses the mic at the top of the hand set, so sounds very quite. Anyone know how to resolve this?

By default, the native Android SIP stack only allows for VoIP calls placed via Wifi (it seems that even the mighty G from mountain view bowed to the telecom operators), but there is a way to enable support for VoIP calls via 3G as well:
- You need to modify your framework-res.apk to enable SIP over 3G by editing the xml file "res\values\bools.xml" and setting the parameter for "config_sip_wifi_only" to false.

But in the "framework-res.apk" there is no section "res \ values \".
Is it possible there is another way to run a VOIP by GSM?

Ok. I found "bools.xml". I have a problem with compiling "framework-res.apk" only.

Nope it wasn't, but as soon as I removed the XML the Phone section came back. Anybody else got this issue?
Have you guys tried GrooVe IP? Google announced that they are doing free calls through 2012. It uses Google's Gmail and Google Voice's services.
I use my Note with GrooVe IP and GV with a Data SIM card from a iPad. Could not be happier. Call quality has been great, it sits in the back ground and has been great on the battery.
CsipSimple
CsipSimple not working properly at the Galaxy Note with ICS system.
To the SIP server is connected properly. When I call, the phone switches to silent mode and vibration. Rings only once and then stopped.
Works OK for me
It worked, ty
I have a rooted 16gb N7. Every 4.2 + ROM I use besides Clean ROM 3 FC on any voice input whether its from voice search or Utter. Does anybody else have this problem? Could it be the Speak Me app causing the problem? I noticed that that app is always in the system whether I do a full wipe or switch ROMS. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,
yesterday, I've received an update which I've installed now:
AP,CP: I9505XXUAME2
CSC: I9505VFGAMDC
Since then, the stock email app is acting very weird. When writing text, as soon as you use any punctuation, exclamation mark, question mark... , the cursor goes crazy and jumps around, making weird corrections to text that has been previously written. Even just copy/pasting an URL into empty email and trying to enter new line will have weird, unusable result.
This bug is easy to repeat:
- open stock e-mail app (not gmail!)
- start writing a new email
- write a sentence in a language of yours (I've tried English, as well as my native language that's supported on the phone)
- as soon as you enter any of the following: . ! ? and press enter (new line), the just written sentence will get split in two and some random editing will be applied as well
Anyone else experienced such behavior? I'm on stock firmware, not rooted, stock keyboard.
Not keen to factory reset just yet, as it involves a looooot of re-setting everything
Thanks!
G.
Very similar bug appears on mine too.
It renders this phone unusable for business purposed, Exchange client is totally broken.
I'm unable to respond to work emails!
What a disappointment, how could it pass QA????!!!

Installing Swype keyboard from the Google play solved this problem! It's some kind of bug in SwiftKey, stock keyboard is based on SwiftKey. There's incompatibility between stock keyboard and stock email client.
Sent from my GT-I9505 using xda premium
At first I thought it was swiftkey causing the issues so then went back to stock and it did the same. The explanation above saying that stock is based on swiftkey may explain why.
I've since installed AquaMail as a stopgap....swiftkey and stock keyboard work as intended with this.
And, to be honest, even though aqua mail was going to be a temp solution, I'm quite, no, very much liking it and will probably continue to use it as my main client.

To wrap it up. There are two solutions:
1. change your keyboard to Swype or anything EXCEPT stock keyboard and SwiftKey
2. change your email client without need to change your keyboard (!!!)
It's an obvious bug that should be fixed in future software releases.
There is a third alternative
3. Disable the auto-correction option on the standard keyboard. The suggestion will stay on, so you can touch the corrected (or predicted) word to change what you typed, but it will not be inserted automatically when you touch only the space bar. Which is not too great a penalty
