Hi!
I have gone through all similar topics for X8 but couldn't find the solution for me. I have a SIM-locked Sony Xperia X8 and was able to unlock the bootloader with msm7227_semc. After that however, the phone still won't work in other networks. After I insert another SIM card, I get a SIM-lock prompt which I dismiss and then go to Settings, Mobile networks, Network operators and see all available networks. When I tap on them I get a message that the phone was registered in the network, however the signal icon shows no reception. I found that this might be the case if you unlock bootloader in this way, however it seems that I have locked fastboot so I can't unlock bootloader with Flashtool. When I connect the phone with back button pressed this program shows briefly that the phone was connected, then says 'getting device info' and then goes 'cancelled'.
Now the question is there anything can be done to use other networks with this phone?
Thanks in advance!

Ask your network provider for the NAC code..

I don't think it's gonna work. Is it the only way left?
Unlocking your bootloader does not sim-unlock your phone, they are two different things.
IMO previous answer is your best option.
I saw in a thread.. This
Unlock bootloader when sim ejected

Hi there guys,
I'm a newbie to Xda and have just bought the XDA1 from a friend.
Everything works fine but i cant make any calls. Tried all types of sims.
I asked the guy i bought it from and he goes that it is "network barred".....what does that mean??
Can i un-bar it?
So far, its only good as a pda.
Anyone know what to do??
Cheers
ok, here some details i've managed to find on the phone.
ROM version: 3.14.13 ENG
ROM date: 10/09/02
Radio version: 4.08
Protocol version: 32s54
As you can see, i have no idea what they mean and have read other posts and they info on them have flown past me.
I dont have a serial cable and the phone is asking for a SID code.
HELP!!
Thanks
If you have tried all types of sim and all networks are barred then a sid code wont help you, it may unlock the phone but you still cant access the networks with a barred phone. There are 2 types of barring, the first is when a service provider locks the phone so you can use it on their network only, the second is when a phone is reported stolen, then it is barred from all networks, the phone transmits a number when switched on, even without a sim inserted, it is this number that is barred in the second scenario, the network sees the number and then closes the door so to speak.
if this is so, can the network track down the phone? or my phone number from the sim. This is cos i've had my sim in the phone and dont really fancy being nicked for doing nothing.
Check your mail box, I have sent you a pm.
If it's asking for a SID code it is just SIMlock. Which means you install the Special Edition ROM and presto.
I think he said he has tried every different sim and still gets nowhere which suggests to me it locked to a provider and also blocked from all networks, surely the phone would be open to at least one of the networks regardless of the sid lock issue.

Maybe, but if it asks for a SID code it may be locked to some obsure network or something. I'd say Special Edition ROM -> unlock first, and then figure out what's going on if that doesn't do it.
Ther you go psychy, click on the link in the previous text, "special edition rom" then click download, then run the program from your pc.
Ok guys,
downloaded the Special Edition ROM....guess what?? IT WORKS!!
thanks for the help guys....much appreciated!
Thing is, the guy i bought it from said it was "network barred"....does it mean my XDA is stolen?? If so, can i get traced? Sholud i carry on using my registered sim on it?
Psychy, if it unlocked ok and is working on a network there is no problem, what confused me is when you said you had tried all types of sim. Enjoy your phone, you can even add a cheap gps system to it and have it talk to you giving directions right to any door in uk, you can watch films, play mp3, surf the web and much more.
here is what happened...
got my xda 2 a few weeks which was supposedly "unlocked" and installed a sim card from my local provider and i had mobile inernet for about a week and then a few days later it just stopped. i completely lost the signal and up in the connectivity section it just says "no service". i have tried a hard reset and that didnt help. i still dont know when the heck happned or what is wrong but now things have gotten even weirder. when i toggle between flight mode on and off it prompts me saying "sim card blocked. please enter PUK" does this mean my xda 2 is locked? is it possible for a device to be unlocked and then locked all over again for some reason?
i tried using the unlocking tool from this site but the one that runs off you desktop pc tells me the phone is already unlocked and the one you run off your pocket pc tells me everything is fixed but i still get prompted for the PUK?
your problem is that your SIM card is locked, not your device. This mostly happens when you try to enter the PIN code 3 times without success. The only way out is to enter the PUK code, so you can change the SIM password.
In Europe, this code is mostly given to you at signup time. Here, in the US, they make you call the telcom operator and dig it out of them, if you get a competent person on the other end of the phone line.
So, my bet is that you entered the wrong pin code for your phone -- and maybe you did this without even knowing you did it.
sigh...to tell you the truth i was hoping it was a locked xda 2...maybe that would of explained why im not getting a signal ...
You are not getting a signal because the puk is now required to access the sim/service provider. You should be able to get the puk by calling your provider or online through your providers internet site, you should then have a working phone again. To prove this to yourself just place another sim in the phone.
Short of using a sim card from a different carrier, how can I tell if my phone is unlocked or not? My seller said it was unlocked.
sorry i dont quite understand. so have you tried using at&t sim card?
either way its really simple to unlock.
-open the market and search for "sgs unlock" (it will be called "samsung galaxy s unlock" and under it it will say "DaGentooBoy"
-after you install it, it should open up automatically(if not click on applications and look for it) and look for the unlock code(should be random numbers)
-turn off your phone, insert sim card, power up your phone and it will ask for the unlock code.
heres where i got the info

Sorry bud. The easiest way is to put another carriers sim in to find out if it's unlocked. Even if it's not, I unlocked mine in literally less then 5 minutes.
Open the dialer and key in *#7465625#. For an UNLOCKED Vibrant you should get the following result: Network Lock [OFF], Network Subset Lock [OFF], SP Lock [OFF] CP Lock [OFF], press OK to exit that menu
put an AT&T sim card, and if it works, then its unlocked

Thanks. It's amazing how so many people can literally ignore the first few words in my post. Although I expected as much.
I entered that in and all said off except the network lock. It was still on.

Then your phone is locked to T-Mobile. The others are always off. It's the network lock that people are talking about when they say unlock a phone.
My favorite thing is the typo in the menu title.

I unlocked my 2 day old phone last night with the windows unlocker tool. I had a SIM that I got in India and it worked for unlocking purpose. When I put the T-mobile SIM back just had to re-login facebook, google etc. I think those information are stored on SIM and not the phone.
Does anyone know future firmware OTA updates like Froyo or anything else that T-mobile will push to our phone will lock it to network again?
Anyone

Lost my unlock status
Just a quick side note. I got my phone unlocked from T-Mobile. And it worked like a charm. Last week as I was changing SIMs, suddenly I found it was locked. Rooted Stock ROM. I don't know how or why it happened and it's only happened once. But it would be a good idea to keep your unlock code on a piece of paper somewhere so you could access it if you were away from home or a computer. The whole point of unlocking a phone is so that you can use it on another carrier. I travel around the world and drop local SIMs all the time into my cell phone. This happened at home so no problem. But if this happened at an airport, I'd have been in trouble. Lesson learnt. Thought I should point it out in case someone else runs into this.
I am a longtime tmobile subscriber. I got the unlock code immediately. I finally got to an att store and unlocked my vibrant. I just entered that code and it is showing network lock ON. WTF? I had to login to everything after I unlocked it too.

Hi,
I just purchased an as new unlocked note 4 from someone on gumtree, they have been posting for years so don't think i have a dodgy phone, i sent my brother to pick the phone up from their home while i was working and he said they unlocked the password while he was there.
But i have just tried a couple of sims and i get the message " sim network unlock pin"
I have tried to contact the person but he works away off shore and don't know when he will get back or reply.
Is there a way to get by this and get my sim working?.......i was planning on rooting the phone anyway.
Thanks for any replies!
You will need to get the unlock code because it's locked to a particular network.
You can usually tell which network it's locked to because it has bloatware from that network installed.
Also in the settings on "about phone" tab it should give you some letters at the end of the firmware version which will tell you what network.
Mine was locked to O2 and I used this guy.
Gave me code in a few hours.

Hi, There does not seem to be any bloatware installed from any network....the phone does look like a bought unlocked phone. Maybe the owner has put a sim lock on the phone himself?
download the Samsung Info app from Play Store, it should tell you eveything you need to know(root wont unlock network)and no way the seller put a network lock, in terms of unlocking you'll need the code. Some service providers supply them at no fee and some at a fee, alternatively you have a plethora of online options usually at a small cost to provide code, gl.
When this Moto G7 on T-Mobile is first turned on it says "Network Lock" click OK. There doesn't seem to be any way to unlock it and I don't mean locked to the carrier, it's just Locked, Period! It will only work on Wi-Fi.
I did a lot of Googling and couldn't find anything about Network Unlocking, they all talked about using a code to unlock the carrier but I'm not concerned with that, if it would just work on T-Mobile again that would be OK. Tried a different SIM but that didn't work and it never gives me the option to enter a code either, just to click OK and go on.
Does anyone know what this means, what caused it and more importantly how to clear the lock? Thanks.

Got it unlocked! There was an Unlock app hidden in the System file area but that wouldn't do it. I did a Reset, then set it to Airplane mode before putting in the T-Mobile SIM then tried it and it works now without the Network Lock.
