Im running pure AOPK on my n7, and under ROM settings there is a nav bar option... just what i was looking for... you can put 2 more buttons on the navigation bar :laugh::laugh:
but i really dont like the phone UI...
when i change the dpi to 160, the extra buttons are gone...
any ideas?
i found this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GpgyNFQFAdo
that would do the trick, but it is for cm7... but i have theme choser... but i cant try it now because i dont have a computer to restore a backup if i need to...
id like to add more than 5 buttons (power, menu, go launcher, ilauncher, youtube....)
thanks

I changed my LCD density on mine too after adding buttons (running CM10), and the buttons go back to stock. Is there any way to customize the combined bar or tablet bar or combination bar or WHATEVER the heck it's called? I've been scouring the interwebs for this info and can't find it anywhere.

Yep, I'm running cookies and cream right now and I can do this

Aokp supports tablet mode without changing dpi. When you do this you are able to customize the navbar to your hearts content.
Btw dpi changes are dirty little hacks that tend to break compatability with several aokp features like this and make some apps disappear from the play store.

I installed Paranoid Android 2.14 on my Nexus 7 and love it.
The only think I am not happy with is the tiny size of the Notification Drawer when in Workspace,Tablet UI(Small).
I like the small dock, as it takes the least amount of screen on the bottom, but, as a result, the Notification Drawer is way to small and hard to read.
IS THERE ANY WAY TO RESIZE THE Notification Drawer to make it larger and easier to read?
Another question. in System, I can select Auto hide.
Yet it does not seem to work.
Is there any way to hide the dock and recall it when needed?
How would I recall it?
And lastly, in System/Navigation Bar, there is an option to show/hide on screen software buttons.
I would love to uncheck them so they disappear and do not take up the limited screen real estate.
HOW DO I ACCESS / RECALL THESE SOFT BUTTONS WHEN I NEED THEM?
Thanks very much for your help. Much appreciated

The notification drawer is part of the workspace. I believe you can change it's size by switching from tablet UI (small) to tablet UI (mid) under paranoid settings.
I don't think there is a way to have a dock and still have your launcher be sized for tablet mode. You might get that feature from another launcher like Apex or Nova.
You can get rid of the soft buttons and recall them in any app with expanded desktop mode. You can access expanded desktop mode by holding the power button for about 1 second, then select expanded desktop mode. To get the soft buttons back just select expanded desktop mode again.

Hi!
I want Tablet Mode on my Stock Nexus 7, but the Tablet-Mode-Patch is for the oldest Stock ROM. Does it still work with 4.2.1? Cuz I dont like DPI Change...
Its rooted
It seems that the patch still work on 4.2.1 according to the folloing post. (sorry, I'm still on custom rom based on 4.1.2.)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=35408239
I just used it,worked perfectly for me on stock 4.2.1 rooted/unlocked via twrp.

kodiak, how did u deodex it?
You don't need to deodex. Grab the 4.2.1-TabletUI.zip from the following link (Post 912) and apply in recovery. Laucher is messed up but Nova Launcher free works great.

you could also install paranoid android, where you can choose which layout (phone, phablet, tablet...) you wish to use, you can even set layouts for individual apps or app groups (e.g. Launcher + google mail in tablet mode, other apps stay phablet)

I am currently running paranoid androids latet rom, and the main thing I'm struggling with is that the 3 buttons (back, home, and the 3rd button that brings up recent apps) are centered, when I want them on the let side. Does the patch fix that?
Also, is there a way to remove the lock screen tiles? I think I saw other threads saying that this change was related to the lawsuit but didn't find anything that allows you to take those off. At the very least I'd want to change the font if I have to keep it.
Any guidance would be appreciated.

Yes the tablet patch takes the 2 seperate nav bar and task bar and puts them to the bottom like they should be imho.
I dont even run the lock screen so I cant answer that question.

In Paranoid settings, change the UI to Tablet UI (mid) and you'll have the navigation bar buttons to the left hand side like you want.
Also, the way to get rid of the lockscreen tiles is to install Lockscreen Policy.

Hi guys.
My Nexus 4 is arriving and I'm for sure not gonna run stock. I've been doing some research but yet decided which custom ROMs to try (too many).
I'd like a ROM with these features:
- quick settings mod
- advanced power menu
- volume rocker wake
- safe headset volume
- expandable/expanded volume panel
- expanded desktop
- t9 dialer
I've found only Xylon that has all those features. Which other ROMs have you guys tried that also have those all (or one or two less, if so please specify)?
Thanks a lot in advance

cm10.1.... all
I think ParanoidAndroid has all those
What is expanded desktop exactly? Like a larger grid size? I think just about any custom rom has these. I like CM personally with Banks' gapps.

It hides the navigation bar and comes in handy when we play games, they run in complete fullscreen. I don't wanna mispress those navbar button while play games such as fruit ninja
Edit: a video to demonstrate. Things get started at around 1:30
I have one more question: can we have access to clock app (or any user-defined app) when pressing the clock above the notification/quicksettings in PA? And quick reply?
I'm on AOKP. It has all those options except expanded desktop. You can hide nav. buttons though.

It goes into date settings which is pretty stupid. I didn't even know you can tap it. I'm gonna change it to the real clock thanks for the idea. And yes it has quick reply.

Ahhh I see now. Never tried it, seems like it would be a hassle to toggle it off/on for everyday use. Maybe it's just the way someone uses their device.
I want to use PIE control instead. Is there some kind of build.prop mod or something that hides the nav bar?
Might be worth going for a custom ROM that has PIE. All you then have to do is switch to Expanded Desktop and there you have it!?
You'll find many ROMs that do PIE. There is also a launcher that does that, it's called LMT Launcher. You will find it here on XDA.
Sentj from my Nexus 7 using xda premium
I don't want to flash a whole new ROM. I just want the PIE control and nav bar removal. PIE control has a Play Store app so I don't need to flash that but I know there has to be some kind of simple mod to remove the nav bar.
Ah, ok, didn't realize there was an app for it.
How about this:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1780970

It seems to force tablet UI, but the nav bar still remains. I know there was a way to make the nav bar appear for the Note 2 so there has to be a way to hide the nav bar for the Nexus 7.
download LMT launcher, it's been around longer than PIE has and doesn't require any specific rom...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1330150
you can go into google playstore and search for PieControl Pro. There is a free version and a pro version for $1.99

So can this hide the nav bar?
Flash ParanoidAndroid ROM it has built in PIE navigation in Quick Settings so when you tap on it your navigation bar hides and PIE control activates and if you are worried about Tablet UI you can turn it off any time you want. =)

are you on the stock rom? not sure if LMT can hide the navigation menu. you may as well just flash any other rom since almost every other rom lets you hide the navigation menu anyways. LMT is also way more customizable than PIE.
At the end of build prop add
qemu.hw.mainkeys=1
Save and exit, I don't believe it works on stock rom though but I could be wrong.
I use this on roms that don't have it built in navbar hide built in, and I use lmt launcher, because I prefer it to pie.

I was gonna say the same thing...ive been using that for about a week now, im diggin it, tho i like cyan a lil better(my droid 4)...the pie menu is amazing, ability to move it to either screen edge, change the colors and buttons...pretty sweet, smooth rom
I just want a clean stock rom with a smaller navigation bar/soft keys so that I go to use my nexus like in expanded desktop on custom rom but still be able to use drag down notification bar.
Any suggestion guys on how am I able to do that?
Expanded desktop can be set to only hide the nav bar in some roms. I use that in SlimBean.

A stock ROM + Expanded Desktop = Not a stock ROM anymore.
Go ROM shopping, it's your only option.

Haha I gonna try PA then. Love the Halo thing
Or you could use
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=be.ppareit.hidebar&hl=en
and then install pie control if you want it, this way you can keep the stock ROM? Its a lot easier to just use a different rom though
