I've noticed a few ROMs that have the Sony bravia engine in them. I'm just curious as to what it does and what are the benefits?

It is essentially a post-processing engine which is supposed to improve the quality and color of pictures and movies. It does not affect the files themselves, only how it is displayed on the screen.
Do you have any personal experience with it? Is it worth bothering with? If so would have to know a link to a flash able zip?

I've only ever flashed, maybe, one or two roms that included the engine. One on GB and the other, an Xperia port. There is indeed a subtle difference in the coloration from my past experience and in some cases, you can spot some gains in minute details. It's been some time though, since I've seen a flash-able zip in the development section.

Starting this week, hopefully, I wanna begin work on a 2.3 ROM for X8 featuring the SlideScreen Pro setup, but improving on a couple things, such as:
1) App interface Clean milky-white interface all around, with classic gray and orange colors. GingerBread (etc) options integrated into SlideScreen style
2) Gmail notifications to main screen Revert Gmail notifications from StatusBar onto main screen
3) Revamping looks, feel, and functionality Improving overall menu-ergonomics, giving it a SlideScreen-MIUI feel and look
Anybody wanting and willing to collaborate is more then welcome.
I'll post some preliminary interface pics after Tuesday, March 6th, since I gotta get a separate laptop running Linux, due to daughter needing play games on the PC . Once I do some basic mods to the SlideScreen interface, I'll test it on GB. Once I get the appropriate performance, I'll post Alpha.

i like slidescreen
i like ur idea
may i give u more idea..
can you make it more ICSish..
ill wait..
maybe i can become the first tester..

No sorry not making a rom, was interested initially because I was looking for a good modded version of the launcher fully functional with no fc. I use 1.26 now but I want 2.0 full with no fc in Facebook.

Anyone else notice....it seperates the pictures all over the place inside the app. Anyway i can move them around into proper spots. Example, it has all my dled pics in three different downloaded folders...i just need one.
totally agree.
cant wait to root so i can get the stock ics gallery back
agreed! Looks cluttered and ugly. Are there any recommended apps to use in place of it?
I personally use tsf gallery widget, more cool! And fun!

Quick pic doesn't plug into Picasa either.
I have tried to push several gallery apps and they all have the same look, I really hate the stock SG3 gallery app, what I would like is to have the same look as the gallery 3d version. I have tried quick pic, and its nice but I don't like the new look I really enjoyed the old 3d look. Anyone have any luck trying to get it installed, I can't get the gallery 3d apk to install. Thanks for the help
This thread delivers! Both of these recommendations are lightyears better than the included gallery. Thanks. Never really knew that I had such a problem with the gallery.

Google needs to put it in aosp as soon as possible. I wish they didn't kill off cornerstone as that was originally going to be part of cm but google told them to cease and desist.
Google would have to develop that from scratch, because that's Samsung-proprietary code.
Also, I hope that Google does NOT clutter up Android with stuff like this, for this we have ROMs like PA (which is already stuffed full of features that it barely works as a daily driver).

Paranoid android was great when it was based on cm. Its in 4.2 when they tried to go aosp and make their own tweaks that it became a mess. They need to go back to cm or switch to AOKP(uses CMs main code).
It wouldn't be that difficult to implement multi window. The cornerstone code would be a good starting point and android apps already scale to different resolutions without an issue.

This app lets you install Bravia 2 engine and other Sony stuff like Sony Walkman suite : Music Player & Visualizer, Clearbass soundfx and Image Gallery & Editor.
Calibrate the screen with faux or Franco much better results in my opinion

I seem to remember seeing an option in settings, maybe, about creating a backup zip that would revert any changes you made to their stock defaults. Look in the pimp my rom app.....I'm sure it's there. they all seem to have a fail-safe of sorts these days
Is there a way to control the screen's saturation without having to go back to Samsung's ROM?
The screen is really over-saturated and unnatural. I'm used to the "Movie Mode" that comes with Samsung's ROMs.
I'm using CM11 (4.4). Not sure which exact ROM it is because I've installed it using CyanogenMod Installer and then updated it from the phone.
I'm guessing not. Thanks for the help everyone.

I think no one has answered because its a silly question.
In your phones display settings there is an option called screen mode, this changes screens saturation.
Sent from my GT-I9505 using XDA Premium HD app
No unless if someone ports CM colours
EDIT: I believe that there is a market app that adds a filter to make it seem less saturated if that is what you were looking for

You're kidding right?
It's in the settings of Stock Samsung ROMS!
Screen mode is in settings and you can choose between various modes which CHANGE YOUR SATURATION!
it can also be done on many many AOSP ROMS and custom kernels.
So YES the answer is YES YOU CAN
