U8800 2.3.5 rooted problem recovery.img - Huawei Ideos X5 U8800

Hi!
I upgraded my ideos x5 from 2.2.1 to 2.3.5 official. Then using superoneclick 2.3.3 i rooted it.Now i am trying using remount and es file explorer(also tried root explorer) to copy recovery.img to cust_backup\image folder and overwrite it in order to install clockworkmod recovery. It doesn't let me copy the file.Tried everything, also tried with root explorer but same thing happens.Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Did you mount it with root explorer or did you just use it to copy the file? If you just used it to copy the file try using it to mount it.

Yes i mount it with remount.I opened the program check rw and choose cust_backup, then i pressed home button to open es file explorer to copy recovery.img .Do i get any message that the file is mounted from remount program? Thanks!

To mount it I think you have to press the remount logo after you choose r/w and custbackup.

To replace the recovery.img simply power off the phone, hold the two volume buttons+ power( make SURE the update is not on the sd card. Plug it into the computer and rename the file on the phone "recovery-backup.img" and move the file from the computer to the phone.

Hi!
I press remount logo and the cust_backup folder mounted and then manage to copy the recovery. Thanks!

Good you got it working.

[Q] i want swype back please!!!!

Just did everything to my g2 at once today, and lost one of my fav features; swype...i have cyanogenmod-6.1.0-RC3-vision... i went and downloaded the stock rom and pulled the apk file from it and when i installed it, it kept force closing. i even tried pushing it via abd but kept getting errors.. can someone please help
You need to grab libSwypeCore.so from /system/lib and push it to same directory on new ROM.

Just download the apk provided by oldsk00lz to recover swype from your clockwork backup. It worked for me.

the first line of code changes your system to READ/WRITE I use root explorer to change it back to READ-ONLY or just reboot.
Code:
adb shell mount -o remount,rw /dev/block/mmcblk0p25 /system
adb push libSwypeCore.so /system/lib
adb install Swype.apk
for the code I wrote to work for you the files need to be in the same folder that the adb.exe runs out of. this is usually located in the tools folder in the android SDK otherwise you have to type the full path ie
this is on windows 7 on my computer so file path will be different for you
Code:
adb push C:\users\etnie\downloads\G2\libSwypeCore.so /system/lib
hope that helps

adb commands

I'm trying to rename the recovery install script in the /etc folder so I can flash clockwork recovery and have it stick..but my root explorer apps (es file explorer & Android mate) won't mount to my system and I can't buy apps on the market so I can't get root file explorer app..so is there a way for me to rename that with in adb or something and if so can you show me what to type in my cmd...thanx

Change LockScreen on NAND Android

Hi,
im using gauner1986's HD-FI 0.3.
And i want to change the lockscreen, but as i tryed i failed.
I cant really remount /system as rw (but it is shown as rw in mount)
As i read i just need to move or delete htclockscreen.apk from /system/app to enable to android default lockscreen.
So i tried to move the file to htclockscreen.bak with adb, Linda Manager and Es File Explorer.
But in every case rename/move failed.
On Es File Explorer i checked the option to mount system as rw without any effect!
For adb i try'd to expand permissions using 'su' command without any effects as far as i'm able to assess it.
As i read i may need to set phone into recovery mode to remount disk using adb, but i was unable to findout how i can get my htc hd2 into this mode.
May anyone can help me with my problem?
Great Thanks

Method 1) To go to recovery mode with NAND builds, just reboot phone(or when phone is off) and hold the power button until MAGLDR boots and shows the menus. Don't let go till you see the options, otherwise it goes straight to Android. From there use the vol up/down hard keys to scroll and the green phone button to select.
Method 2) If you hold the vol down key and power key when phone is off it will go straight to recovery screen with the colorful bars.
Having said all that, I'm not sure if we can change those files with out a de-odexed rom. But imilkas does have a de-odexed NAND build.

Sorry for edit but I forgot to mention that Root Explorer works better for moving/renaming system files. Go!Go!Go!

Removing a file

So yesterday i ''adb push''ed a rom onto my device. I searched for the zip in my recovery, and found out that it was in /sdcard/rom.
This is strange, since i can not find it on my sdcard while booted into android.
However, i located the file and it is located in /mnt/shell/emulated/rom.
When i want to install a rom, and i placed it on my phone while booted into android (so the normal MTP mode) i have to go into my recovery, and navigate to /sdcard/0/rom.
Now i just got one problem, i can not delete the rom zip located in /mnt/shell/emulated/rom!
I'm using rootbrowser, and while it is saying that it deleted the file, it just doesnt.
I've already tried changing the permissions, with no succes.
Does any of you know what i should do next?
I take it your using cwm recovery.
This still mounts the sdcard using the old pre multi user ICS method.
Because of multiuser each user would have their own folder 0,1,2 etc. Which is mounted as /sdcard in android.
The true /sdcard is where you have seen at /mnt/shell/emulated/ the 0 folder which takes you to your files is just the folder for the default user.
Now into your problem.
The easiest way to remove the file would just be to boot back into cwm recovery and run;
adb shell rm /sdcard/rom.zip
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
Worked like a charm!
Was messing arround before while booted into android, and it gave me errors that it did not have permission to delete the file.
While booted into recovery in deleted wonderfully. Thanks again!
Just got one more question, is it possible to delete the directory aswell?
When i try to use the same command it gives me an error and says that it's and directory.
Which command should i use to delete the directory itself?
-Update- Found the command, rmdir, worked like a charm aswell in recovery!
You can use rm -rf to delete the folder and all files inside.
Looks like you didn't need it as the directory was already empty.

[Q] Trouble installing 19mountsdboot script

The instructions for installing 19mountsdboot are found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=22858059#post22858059
I unrared 19mountsdboot-rev2.rar, and 19mountsdboot is in /sdcard/Download.
My problem is when I try to copy that file to /etc/init.d. Using Terminal Emulator,
cd /etc/init.d
cp /sdcard/Download/19mountsdboot .
cp: can't create './19mountsdboot': Read-only file system
Using ES File Explorer, I also get a "Read-only file system" error.
What am I missing?
Thanks

/etc/init.d is a root location. You must have root access and /system set to r/w.
So set terminal emulator in su (root) mode. Type su enter and the prompt will change to a #. Then you can try it. Set /system to r/w.
Also ES File Explorer must also be put in root mode and set /system to r/w before you can do it.
Edit: if you use the flashable zip, it does everything for you. Just put that zip into the boot partition of the SD and boot to SD recovery. It will install automatically. And it puts it in /data so it survives the update to a new ROM. I highly recommend you use that method.
