My G2 has been acting lately when it comes to navigation. When I turn on navigation, it works great for ~ 5 minutes. Then I get the looking for GPS Satellites message. When I quit navigation and restart it, I get another 5 minutes of use before the cycle starts all over again.
Has anyone else experienced this?
I'm using the latest CM 7.2 nightly

Every now and then, my TomTom 7 loses GPS connection while driving, the screen turns grey (as if you're driving in a tunnel) and after a few seconds it gets a fix again. This happens about 2-3 times per hour. Occasionally, it will not get a new fix and I have to reset my TP2 - which is a drag.
Can anyone tell me what is going on and how to solve it? I had a similar problem with TomTom 7 on my previous TyTN II...
I think a lot depends on your location and the weather.
Mine was acting up a bit today with similar symptoms to yours, but I just put it down to some heavy rainclouds about
Look here at HTC support, there is GPS fix for download, but watch your version of ROM http://www.htc.com/europe/supportdownloadlist.aspx?p_id=250&act=sd&cat=all
I've been flashing the new leak ROMs from TW and Eugene the last few months and my GPS has been locking 8-9 birds in a few seconds within 30 feet with GPS test app. However when using Navigation, it still jumps around after a few minutes and become unusable.
I noticed that while GPS Test locks my location in a few seconds, Navigation still takes a minute or two to lock. I decided to get a lock in GPS test first then switch to navigation with GPS Test still running in the background. I got an instant lock in Navigation. Leaving GPS Test running in the background, I have been able to use Navigation for the last two weeks continuously without any problems. It might be a coincidence and I have nothing other than my experience to back it up. Hopefully a few people can test this out and see if it fixes the problem for them.
ROMS tested: Ginger Clone R1/R2 and Nexus V3.

i been using axura 2.2 with jk6 modem. i would say that on average i get a gps lock in about 10-15 seconds. about 80% of the time its just right. other times im like 1 street off. after driving for like 2 mins it corrects itself and is accurate.
My point is that with GPS test running in the background I do not get the "jump to wrong street" anymore. Been working perfectly.

I noticed the same thing, leave GPS Test running, and Nav locks instantly. Unfortunately I had some freezes in Nav that made me stop using that technique. Some research indicated Google Nav freezes were happening on a variety of different phones, but I didn't go back to the background GPS Test after the bad luck I had. Now that Maps 5.0 is out maybe the freeze problem has been fixed. I'll try it again and see.
Anyone else having issues getting a GPS lock? I'm sitting inside a building but my Hero would always lock here, especially after resetting the AGPS data with GPS Status program. Tried that with the Shift, and still not getting a lock even after a minute. Not sure what else to try.
Typically I keep mine turned off, but I just turned mine on and went to Maps and it locks my location in.
mine took a little while to initialize (indoors) but it locked in within 30 seconds.
No issues here. Inside my GFs apartment it locks very quick and is probably about 5-10 feet off according to google maps. My moments GPS never locked or worked so I'm extremely happy with the GPS quality on this phone.
The first lock took around a minute to get. Now it gets a solid lock in just a few seconds, if that.
A little off. Not as bad as my gfs Samsung Instinct, but it does often have me a few hundred meters from my actual location.

Me and my girlfriend are having constant problems with the gps lock. Seems to work when it wants and disconnects randomly.

GPS is spotty for me as well. GPS Status won't even get it working for me when it won't work.
When it does work it is not as accurate as my Heroc was. Hopefully this gets some love in any updates.
GPS is great for me. The only issue I've run into is that when I go from Maps to Navigation, my SD card gets mounted as read-only for some reason.
I know a couple of days ago I tried to use my Google Maps/GPS and it couldn't get a lock on me. It was like going crazy or something. However, it was snowing and kinda foggy so maybe that had something to do with it. It worked the next day though when the sky was clear.
No gps lock on my end either. Also tried the gps status clear....nothing so far
EDIT: just opened maps for about a minute or so and it locked finally. Closed maps then opened again, locked within seconds.
Bumping this thread: I have issues with getting a GPS lock. If I open Google Maps, I'll never get a lock (at least not before the phone goes to sleep - 60 seconds). I open up GPS test, which I downloaded from the market. It gets one satellite to lock right away. Sometimes two. Then it takes forever to get 3-4 more (at least 60 seconds). I can then go into google maps, and it will get a lock within 15-20 seconds. But if I let the phone go to sleep, and open up maps again, I don't get a lock, unless I do the GPS test. And sometimes that doesn't even work. I've done the GPS Clear thing, via the epst codes (##GPSCLRX#), and that doesn't seem to do anything. I'm running the MikShiftG 1.1 rom. I'm going to make a nandroid backup, and see if that happens on a stock 2.3.3 rooted rom.
Everytime I try and use navigation I have to wait for the GPS to find my location which sometimes takes upwards of 3 minutes! Unless it has been coincidental everytime I have tried this method, I opened up the speed test app(testing your phones bandwidth) and within a couple seconds the GPS is connected. Even when opening another app to get GPS to connect it has always been faster than waiting. Sorry if something like this has posted before or my GPS is just messed up from rooting.

Hello I'm having a problem with my GPS signal. I followed this guide to fix it but still have the problem: http://androidforums.com/threads/gps-fix-dummies-guide.761247/
I have NO PROBLEM getting my accurate location within 1-5 seconds when sharing location on whatsapp/telegram or other apps. Even opening Google Maps or Waze, they also detect my location very very fast. I'm taking less than 5 seconds and it's very accurate.
The problem comes when I try to NAVIGATE with Waze or Google Maps. This is when I'm outdoors in my car of course. My phone doesn't get a GPS signal. It takes a very very long time, sometimes 10 minutes to get a lock on. The funny thing is that when I followed this guide and I put the airplane mode on, the apps got a lockon on the GPS, but as soon as the airplane mode was off they lost GPS signal and had a problem locking on.
I have the GPS TOOL app installed and outside I get a lockon of about 10-15 satellites of 22 but it doesn't happen instantly. It takes from 10 to 60 seconds to get a lockon. But that is not even the problem. I could live with that, but the real issue is that the signal comes and goes. So sometimes the apps have a lockon for 1 minute and then they lose it for 3 minutes and again and again.
When I'm indoors it takes about 30 minutes to get a lockon on but I get from 1 to up to 6 satellites even though my apartment is the one on the top. There are no other apartments above it so I should have a bit more of a chance to get a signal. But it barely connects and sometimes never. The issue is the same. It may connect sometimes but it loses signal. 1 minute it remains connected and them loses it for 5 minutes and so on.
I attached some screenshots of how waze never has a GPS connection (unless I turn airplane mode on. I'll test this later on the road trying to get some place and I'll update if this really makes the GPS lockon but it's not ideal to have to use airplane mode to get a lock on GPS but not have internet for anyethign else). I have also attached the specifications of my phone. I hope you can help me out. It's a samsung galaxy s5 mini. And mainly I want to know if this could be because of the KITKAT firmware because I have read that many phones have GPS problems now, or if this could actually be a problem with my phone. I hope not becuase it's a new phone. I have one month with it and I'm in Mexico.
Thanks!!
Sorry, this forum covers all the standard size S5s but not the S5 mini. Try your question in http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s5-mini as there will be more people with the same device as you there.
