I was wondering if anybody else had problems with touch input that where skipped or missed. The way it acts it is like I don't touch the screen. Other times when I'm dragging it acts like I've lifted my finger. It sucks when trying to use the keyboard because I have to go extra slow to makes sure all the keystrokes are showing up.
Thanks.
Sounds like the touchscreen issue?

Thanks. I'll check it out.

I'm having some weird issues with my touch screen. I'm using the Touch Keyboard input method so I can use my thumbs for typing instead of using the stylus all the time.
Very frequently, when i use my thumbs to push buttons near the bottom middle or bottom left of the screen, the start menu auto pops up! It is absolutely driving me mad! I tried to recalibrate the screen, doesn't help. I tried to take off the screen protector and try again, no difference.
Has anyone else has this happen?
Hi,
Yes, it's a common Problem with the Trintiy.
But be happy, that you don't have these Problems.
I have heard, that there are Problems, when the device heats up and the casing pushes on the top-left corner. But with my Trin it only occurs, when I'm tiping something and push a little bit to hard in the middle of the screen. But it doesn't disturb me too badly, as long as it won't get worse.
Greetz
So it's more of a design issue than anything else? Damnit! I was hoping there'd be some sort of fix or that it was just my phone that was defective somehow.
Sigh, I've never noticed this problem until I started using the soft part of my fingers to type.
Anyways, thanks for your reply.
every now and then the touch pad start to run like crazy between the menus like he is stuck on down or up.....
I've got the same problem. Sometimes it gets stuck and keeps scrolling down.
I predicted this would be broke first
Now, I just disabled the touchpad function because I didn't really like the function anyway. Now I cant just navigate by clicking the ring around it and using the touchpad as a "ok" button. Which feels more stable
.....
i've disabled it too ...i had no other choice.. so what is it? hardware or software problem....its driving me crasy...i've done HR twice!! and its still happens....
same problem here and i have disabled the touchpad also.
i think it's a little scratch on the touchpad itself which is causing a problem on the optical sensor. maybe it's only because of some dust.
.....
so its just us having this problem?
I have same problem too and notice that there are a lot of dust on the touch pad and do some cleaning, it has been back to normal.
i'm having the same problem too. i'll give it a clean and see if that sorts it.
Hey guys, it's been a while since you added to this thread, but I now have the same problem. What did you do exactly to clean the touchpad? Just the top bit or also underneath? How did you get there? What did you clean it with? And finally, did it help?
Whenever I try to start/respond to a sms, it takes about 10 tries of me tapping on the textbox at the bottom of the screen for it to recognize I'm tapping it and to make the keyboard come up.
My buddy, who will use my phone, can do it almost every time though... I'm coming from an iPhone so I'm used to touchscreens. I've tried with/without my nail, using my entire THUMB, using just the tip of my thumb.
I dunno what to do... Any ideas? Thanks
I noticed that this will happen to me on occasion. In my experience with it, if I tap towards the top of the box it will work the first time, but if I tap towards the lower bottom then it doesn't work so often.
actually, this used to happen to me alot.
then I noticed that every time i was trying to touch the text box, my thumb, or another finger from my other hand, was also touching the screen.
And since the stock keyboard doesn't have a detected multi-touch input, when there are two touched, the input value is returned as null.
So, once i figured that out, i never had a problem. But, there has also been complaints about the touch screen calibration being off, so...you can never know unless you mess around
Ill give those tips a shot! Maybe adding the multi touch hack will help too...
It also helps if you don't just tap really quick, but press it instead(well not really press, but leave your thumb or finger on it for a second).
I'm sure there are weird calibration issues near the bottoms of our screens. When I first got the phone, I really thought it was broken or there was a huge bug trying to get the virtual keyboard to come up while writing SMSes. Like david said, try touching a little higher than where the text box is to bring up the VK. Usually, I aim at the top border of the box. Now I rarely have to touch more than once to bring it up, but it's still an issue that should be addressed by HTC (or maybe Google).

This is exactly what I determined. My keyboard pops up every time when press near the top of the input box.
Is this a hardware issue - or something a future update is able to correct?
You can long-press the "Menu" softkey to open the keyboard at (almost) any time.
When this happens to me i just push in the trackball and the keyboard pops up.

I also noticed if you get a lot of texts or have a lot of texts the problem gets worse.
My LG G2 wont register touch input properly. It happens nearly all the time, e.g. i am typing and it works like a charm and suddenly it starts missing keys which earlier were just fine, similarly i am missing swipes everywhere like in home screen and games but they are less frequent as compared to the touch missing the input completely. I am really worried as i just spent a lot on this and where i live all the sets are imported from abroad so no warranties of any kind,
Has any one else experienced this and if yes is this a hardware problem or a software one, and above all guide me on what to do. Thanks in advance for your comments

I have this sometimes but i have realised that it is my own fault as the screen is rather large and i touch the edge of the screen with the base of my thumb, which seems to make it ignore other touch events on the screen

I also thought that i was doing something like that but then i picked it up in my hand and touched with a finger from the other hand carefully avoiding any unintended touches but still it keeps on missing taps during selections across menus and what not.
Is something causing your CPU usage to spike? If this is happening, launching an app like OS Monitor while it is happening will point out the offending app.
I have looked very closely into this issue and it seems that the phone registers a touch when my finger is very close to the screen. It doesn't seem like an issue, but it is. Often when I'm scrolling through youtube videos, it plays a video. This is because right before I touch the screen and want to drag it, it actually selects one of the videos first. This is really annoying. It even happens when typing. I get the same letter twice because it first detects the touch when my finger is near, and then I press it, which gives 2 touches. Anyone else with this problem? Is there a way to turn this ''feature'' off?
Can't say I've seen this happening and even when slowly getting closer, I only type a letter with Swiftkey when I actually hit the glass. Maybe this thread can help? forum.xda-developers.com/axon-7/how-to/how-to-increase-touch-sensitivity-t3443052

I tried this but this is not the problem as I'm not even touching the glass yet the phone registers it (I have turned on "Show touch movement" in dev options). I looked very closely with my eye to really assure I'm not actually touching it. It happens when my finger is really close to the glass. Really strange. Am I the only one having this happen?
Do you have glove mode on ?

You are a hero. This was the problem. I thought having it constantly on wouldn't be a big deal and it would actually be useful if I happen to wear gloves. Thank you very much for solving this issue.

No problem, it's a common mistake
