Possibly moving to ATT, phone choice help!

I might be going to ATT pretty soon, if I do, I have a choice to make. They have a new phone coming out soon called the inspire, essentially the evo for ATT.
So I can wait until it comes out and give it a shot, or I can go with the Iphone since I've always wanted to try it out

no idea other than I'm sorry. Other than that i absolutely hate iphone and love android

I love android too, but I would really like to try the Iphone, never know, I may like it once I use xda's iphone site to do what I'd like

Its a lot simpler than android and its a lot less buggy.
But it is noticeably smaller...my sisters iPhone4 is soooooooo tiny in my hands lol also, the camera is nice on the iphone 4.
If you've ever had an ipod touch, then its that same experience sans the phone lol

Yea, I've got a touch and I love it, only problem, I'm stuck on this keyboard, I love the epic's keyboard, however the iphone does have great on screen software

I give you 14 days after you switch and you will come back to the darkside lol. From what I've heard from friends who all went to AT&T because of the iphone is that their service is absolutely terrible. Wished that they had never switched. But to each is own. Good luck with your future endeavors.

If you plan on going on at&t get the iphone. The iphone is great for hacking and you'll have less trouble breaking it when you do. I mean, once you jailbreak it, you're pretty much set on the idea of it getting bricked. I had a jailbroken ipod touch, and it was great. Never had a problem at all.
And reverting back is so simple; you just have to update it on itunes!

Also, yeah I always thought people were exagerating about atts network, but I'm always hearing my sister shout "UGH MY SIGNAL DIED!"

I would not get the iPhone 4 at this point. The iPhone is due for an update this summer, so you might as well wait for the iPhone "5" then. IMO, Odin is as easy to restore as iTunes is, just a little more complicated at first glance. Also, if you are in to jailbreaking(rooting essentially)/unlocking your iPhone when you get it, you will have to be very knowledgable with terminology, like "tethered, baseband unlock (if you want that), SHSH, etc." iTunes makes it *very* easy to update your phones firmware, which can be a bad thing if you are into jailbreaking. An accidental update may keep you un-jailbroken/carrier-locked until a new exploit/tool is released.
I suggest educating yourself with the estimated release of the iPhone 5, and everything to do with jailbreaking/unlocking. Enjoy.

Oh yeah, one negative about the iphone is their network sucks, and there is no unlimited plan. If you decide to get an iphone, switch to verizon.
They have an unlimited plan, better network, wayy better phones (in my opinion) and its cheaper!

Don't get the wrong idea, I'm not switcing becase I want the iphone, my dad is considering bundling our services and adding att wirelss because we have evrything with them except cell service, the iphone is just one of the phones I am considering if we do switch

verizon hasnt actually said whether or not they will have the same data plans or if it will end up different.

Tmobile is pretty cheap as we'll, my dad andican get roughly 3000 minutes shared, with unlimited data and text for like 150 a month

maybe one of the new Tegra 2 phones from Motorola.

You've tried the iphone with your ipod touch...trust me.
There's no reason to own both lol.
If you sell the ipod, then I don't see why not, but asit stands that'd be a waste of a subsidized phone lol

Yes, after trying to resist, I caved and bought an iPad 2.
I simply needed it for a couple of essentials. Full iCal support and a couple of apps to use with pro-tools at work. One being V-control the other air display.
But I am keeping my vibrant.
I must say, that I find iOS definitely lacking in various areas.
Most notably no widgets. I prefer the Android app draw and personal window customization, and I really don't like the iPad contacts app.

Hey, I have an iPod, but I'm not ashamed. I like it for the battery life. I will always love my phone more though.

No need to feel ashamed. They're great devices. I find that Android and iOS really go hand in hand and compliment each other very well.

They are good retail units, but little to no customization really. That and after costs............ too bad you couldn't wait until EE transformer by asus that is the one........ good price point and best of all worlds

Ipad 2 is the only device i would be willing to buy from Apple.

No jailbreak for the iPad 2 4.3.1, yet...not sure what they did to secure it beyond the iPhone 4, but they did. Only a matter of time before we get our homebrew on.

iphone-developers.com is xda's sister site for apple stuff.

There's nothing wrong with owning Apple products, i have 3 iPods (diff. Gens) and a iPad 2
No shame in it, they make good stuff just not the BEST stuff.

Apple is good for a couple things. Secure info, speed and memory when using large apps. Other than that they are money hungry fools who can't share their developement to make them better

I got their new ipod nano for as a gift and i like it a lot. but then again I have always liked their ipod line. I probably wouldn't get any other apple product unless it was reallyyyy cheap or free. I really wished a PC manufacturer could design a laptop using the aluminum unibody that the macbook pro uses cause its stunning.

I don't get this? Apple patched a exploit, a new one was found. Apple will patch the new one. Why? For the same reason Google does it - security. Exploits are not only for rooting, they can and are also used for malicious reasons.

Just remember that an Android phone has more power than a jail-broken apple phone/device. Think about it this way, if they don't patch stuff like that... other countries like china will use them against us and attack the USA. They must patch. When someone can HACK A PHONE THROUGH A SIMPLE website, that isn't very secure. When we do it, it takes actually doing it manually. knowing what we are doing sortof.

Well, i for one, am sad to see this new patch ruin jailbreakme.com. I used to have so much fun wandering through the Apple stores in Dallas and quickly jailbreaking all their devices.

I can pretty much 100% guarantee you that the average selling price of the iPhone is significantly higher than the average selling price of Android phones. This includes highend phones like the EVO, Droid x, etc. The iPhone 4 is always $200 (same as the regular retail price of high end Android phones at launch) subsidized in the US and constant at similar price over seas. How many sales, first and third party promotions, and drops in prices happen to highend Android phone? At times you can get highend Android phones for free or a couple of cents! Then add big selling low end lines like the Optimus One, and smaller lines are even more popular in low income countries. Look at what's selling there.

I was at a party and my phone hit the support of a bed deadcenter of the screen, and it cracked at the point where the light sensor is. I want to cry whenever I'm not in low light which is often lol.

Im not surprised...this phone isn't that great....i slid it across the CARPETED floor didnt hit anything but a cat bed. I picked it up and there was a whole chunk on the plastic side of the top sliding piece missing....strong? ....

Strong for awhile
I dropped the phone repeatedly for a year(im a clutz). Then i decided to talk with my phone between my shoulder and ear while walking down the steps... i think you can guess where this goes. The whole thing is shattered. Still works though

Yea I like the 4S it's awesome and all, but idk it's to similar to the 4 for I can't wait for iPhone 5 to drop....I must say that iOS 5 is looking pretty awesome, and from what I've demoed it is awesome....you like your 4S?

I love it. I've been using the tethering on my Epic to download apps. I played Infinity Blade on it and omg that game is amazing. Siri is very useful. It's exactly what I wanted in a speech to text system. I had the original iphone (my first smart phone besides the helio ocean) which was horrible. I dislike the lack of customization and using itunes. The screen is much better than the Epic but you can see how overly Saturated stuff is. Everything works well. I am not an apple fan boy by any means. I'm studying Java to develop for Android. It's good to see what the competition is like. The apps really attract me on the iphone. I don't really want an ipad though because it sounds like a feminine cleaning product and because I'd feel like a douche carrying one around with me everywhere.

Wow haters are everywhere even in dev forums, you dont like my posts skip them...im not an apple fan boy either although I do feel they are more professional than most android products, I like the iPad 2 but yeah idk about carrying one around everywhere...thanks for the feedback about the 4S btw!

And I kept my Evo 4g because i love android still. It's fun updating MIUI every week. I don't understand why people feel like they have to get married to one OS or one company. So silly. I love android and ios. Most people just overreact. Happy holidays to all and to all a good life

Yea, I completely understand. It sucks, but as soon as a jailbreak comes for the 4s i'm doing it. With that said, I love HTC to, because their phones come unlocked now. Some pretty cool ****ing people there

A friend of mine has the iPhone. I checked it out last night. First time I ever really looked at one. It's pretty smooth actually. It has some cool functions, and all.
I wouldn't get one, I'm married to Android, for real.

Yea for sure. I've been up to date on it. I'm not to worried about it too much though, because ios as is has been great for me. I just flashed the new MIUI 1.12.23 on my Evo and I can't put it down again haha. It's not connected to my cellular network anymore, instead wifi. So it's like a little pc

The reason people act like they are married to it well mainly iPhone users. Is because if u have a iPhone n you want any programs u pay money all the damn time for them n who wants to jump after u spent tons of money on apps for a year.

Well I came from an iPhone to android and never once payed for an app. Now when it comes to android I'm happy to support the development by donating and purchasing apps since it actually IS development .
