Do you regret buying a N7 due to not using it enough? - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
So, topic pretty much says it all.
I would like to buy a Nexus 7, but because I always carry my smartphone with me and it pretty much does everything I need it to, I am afraid of spending the money and not using it enough to justify the cost.
So, what's your case? For what do you use your tablet?
Do you regret buying it?
Cheers

I use it pretty much constantly, its almost as portable as my phone and much more ole sent to use due to the better screen and battery life. I think it is a good investment

As a student it's nice having this battery life without having to haul my laptop around.

I have always preferred using my phones over my laptop....since I bought the N7 not only have I not even glanced at my laptop I haven't been using my phones that much either...which has been great for their battery life I use the N7 for pretty much everything....paying bills, browsing, texting, etc...which are all the things I did on the phones. If I didn't need the laptop for Odin or kies, I would sell it.

This. Nexus 7 is my primary computer now. How could I live without 7 inch device before..? My phone is just a phone now, which is great.

No.

I've carried an iPad with me constantly for the last couple of years, so I knew exactly how I would use my N7. At work for note-taking in meetings, checking email when away from my desk, logging on to my Citrix desktop, listening to music or watching a video when work gets boring In personal time, I watch videos and play music, check email, read (books, magazines), browse the net and play games.
It's never far from my side and gets plenty of use! Justifying the $300 price tag vs. $500-600 for an iPad (I paid more than that for my iPad 1 a couple of years back) is a no-brainer for me.

Don't regret it one bit. My PC is getting far less use at home now (good considering I spend 8 hours a day in front of one at work) and my has been relegated to phone duties.

I don't regret it at all. I use my tablet pretty much every day for most of the day. Like many others have said, I rarely use my laptop for anything anymore unless I have a ton of typing to do.

Not one bit! I haven't been able to put it down since the day I brought it. Sold my laptop and my desktop gets used less and less. I've also been using my Evo LTE as just a phone now lol. Excellent purchase in my book. Trust me you won't be disappointed. If you ever find yourself not using it, you can easily sell it and recoup some of your money.

The thing is I previously had an HTC Sensation as a phone and an HTC flyer as a tablet.
Was using almost always the sensation because the flyer always stayed at home.
Ended up selling both and got a galaxy note to try and have the best of both worlds.
Granted the nexus 7 is a different beast from the flyer, but I fear the same might happen...
Thinking about selling the note and pick a nexus as a smaller phone and a nexus 7.
I am afraid to end up feeling the nexus is too small and the nexus 7 too big to carry around.
Cheers

I have the GNote and GNex and after using the GNote everything seems small, but the GNex feels like a toy after I've been using the GNote all week. I wish the GNex was a little bigger....even my sgs2 looks bigger next to the GNex, even though it's only 4.5.Hoping they make the next nexus at least 4.8....although "leaks" of specs are rumored to be the same size as the GNex.

Since I got my nexus 7 I don't think I've put it down unless its for charge wile I sleep. Rarely use my xperia s unless I'm out and about. Ive never used my laptop much before anyway. Unless it was for uni. I carry my nexus all over the house. Whether its for readings books, browsing tapatalk or just generally browsing. When I hold my xperia after the n7 it feels so small lol.

I bought a second N7 because I found that when I had to charge it I missed it too much. So I bought another one so that I'd always have one at my disposal

Mine has replaced my phone for everything but calling, texting and navigation. Gaming, web, reading ebooks and comics...all more comfortable on the N7.
I'm actually thinking of selling/trading my GNote and getting a Nexus.
I can do everything I did with the SPen just as easily on my N7 with a standard stylus too and my storage needs are happily met with my external drive.
Love the Note but it's usefulness as a phablet isn't there for me anymore.

It all depends on what your current phone is, If it's a SGSIII or other high end device then the Nexus 7 isn't much of a improvement other then having a bigger screen.
I actually still use my SGSIII more then the Nexus 7 as I can do everything and more (like being able to pocket it) on the phone while the Nexus 7 is now just a coffee table family tablet. Games are kind of nice but some of them are very hard to control due to placement of virtual joypads.
I guess I'll either give away the Nexus 7 or figure some other use for it.

There is no comparing a sgs3 to a pure Google tablet. Just no comparison.
Even my GNote at 5.3 is isn't useable as a tablet. Don't know why you think the N7 isn't much of an improvement over a 4.87 ics, touchwiz PHONE.

I use mine quite a lot, still use the phone, but at home I'll use my N7, and sometimes ill take my N7 to work so will use it their, and on my commute to work.
I love this thing.

Nexus 7 or galaxy tab 2(7.0)

Do you like waiting for almost 6 months for an update or do you want it to be on your nexus the next day after it comes out? And nexus has no stupid ass Samsung crap in it. Go nexus you won't regret.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
I just sold my galaxy tab plus (very similar to tab 2). Couldn't stand the random reboots or the lack of support from Samsung. I heard last week that they are finally rolling out ics for the 3g version in Europe. Still nothing for the US or even the wifi version.
I think I am going to try to stick with nexus devices in the future.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using Tapatalk 2
I've had my Galaxy Tab 10.1 since last fall and I've never had a problem with it other than the limiting 16GB of space. No random restarts or reboots. I dumped the TW launcher for GO Launcher HD and never looked back. I barely remember what TouchWiz looks like.
I'm looking for a smaller tablet or PMP right now. After months of dealing with the lack of space on my Tab, the lack of storage on the Nexus killed that from me right from the start. At least offer a 32GB model for $299. Not all of us are surrounded by hundreds of free wifi hubs where we can stream video on the go. I want that stuff on my tablet. And with HD movies around 5-6GB each, it's not unreasonable to want more than a solitaire app and one movie on a tablet.

Nexus 7 vs 5'' phone

Hello
So the situation is that I have a 10 inch tablet now and a 4.7 phone. I find the tablet too big for carrying it around and other stuff except movies..
Planning to upgrade my phone to a 5 inch one soon and idk I'd its worth it to get the nexus 7 if I have a 5 inch phone since they are almost similar in size
Is it worth it?

Hi, I currently have the original galaxy note and the n7. I have to say that the difference in size doesn't seem a lot on paper but when you're using it you will benefit so much from having the extra space on the n7. They have similar resolutions but the n7 is so much nicer for web browsing, watching videos etc. Such a shame because I hardly pick up my phone these days unless I want to...well make a call or text...

I to find my phone to small for Internet and other usages since I got my N7. I think the N7 is the right size for every day use.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda premium
I too have an original Galaxy Note and my Nexus 7, and the experience is perfect. I can still take both devices everywhere, and things like reading and general browsing in the N7 is far easier than the note. The other benefit is that my Note gets to save its already incredible battery life for actual phone use and such while I use the Nexus.

Get a nexus 7 and a phone that fits in a shirt pocket.

I hardly use my phone (Arc S) since I got my N7 I now find it hard to type on the keyboard since using the N7. My Arc S is now used as a phone & texting device and for data when out & for facebook & Google + when I'm in bed and can't sleep and don't wanna disturb the wife. I'd get the N7 and a pocket sized phone, especially one that has WiFi hotspot feature so you've then got a phone for calls and texts and the N7 for everything else.

I keep my Nexus 7 in my jacket pocket, excellent portable tablet.
I'll still be upgrading my phone to a 5" when my upgrade is due.
I find that I use both devices for very different purposes now.
The phone is just a phone - the Nexus 7 does everything else
Same here my 5" player doesn't get much use since getting the N7. And I have a 4.7" phone that only gets used as phone, txt messages and GPS when I'm not on WiFi.
I like that I can hold the N7 in one hand since I usually stay in portrait mode and that the N7 will fit in a back pocket.

[Q] What do you use your Nexus 7 for?

(Seems the other thread is now dead, so making this new one anyway)
So, I got my Nexus 7 last week with my birthday money (got it on Monday 14th, my 15th was on Monday 14th as well ).
The main reason I got it is because:
It's a tablet
It has decent specs for the cost
It's very easy to root and ROM
I needed a tablet for app development
So, what did you get yours for? And what do you actually use it for?
Taking notes and browsing the web. Occasionally I play games since the nexus 7 has that tegra 3 chip.

Plus I do some PC repair as a hobby for people. It's easy to grab the Nexus 7 if I need to look something up.

Anyone get a Nexus 4 as a secondary device?

First let me say that I am a happy note 2 owner. With that said there is something about the Nexus and pure android that intreges me. Also the price range for an unlocked phone is very good. Anyways I just want to know is there anyone that switches between two phones and how has that been working out for them.

I currently use Iphone 5 as primary and nexus 4 as secondary because I got the iphone 5 for free from work
i was switching from my GS2 to the N4 every other day....i just made the switch to N4....
the N4 for me was hardly ever crashing, true butter experience, had a really good weight and feel.
My GS2 was just too light and felt slippery....
The ROM experience was fun but going to stay stock on the N4 for now
I switch between my GS3 (US LTE version) and my N4. And when I carry both (keeping my S3 in my bag usually) I tether it to my n4 so my N4 can get LTE speeds
Yeah thats what I was think of doing. Like I said I love my note 2 but I am also a tech nut and ha e been resisting th urge to by a Nexus 4 for a couple of weeks lol.

I bought the Nexus 4 as a secondary device, due to the price. I liked it so much, it became my primary device, which surprised me. I tried switching back to one of my other devices, but I'm drawn back to the Nexus 4 every time.
Just out of curiosity what was the other device?

I use a note 2 for my primary personal on Verizon and an N4 for work on AT&T, best of both worlds. then come home to my N10

[Q] iPad 3gen for a Nexus 7 2012?

Hey! Long time android user here.
I've been using lots of google stuff lately (chromecast, smartwatch) so I'm planning on selling my 3 generation iPad. Would it be wise to trade it for a Nexus 7 2012? I only use my ipad for browsing, and full chromecast support would be nice.
That's not worth it at all. You'd be better off selling the iPad then using some of the cash to buy one if you really wanted it . also the nexus 7 is a good bit smaller than the iPad if your used to that big screen for media.
