This widget allows the use of 3G modems and phones attached to USB host ports. These ports are mainly found on Android tablets.
Features:
PPPD and Usb_ModeSwitch binaries (natively linked to Bionic) are included
Autodetection of usable modem ports
Minimal configuration input required (in most cases just username, password and APN)
Remember you are doing this by your own will I can't be responsable if something go wrong.
What you need.
1: You need root, superuser, busybox on your device.
2: 3G USB dongle
3: PPP Widget software :link:PPP Widget
How to:
After installing the PPP Widget.apk go to widget area and drag the widget to your home screen.
There is a large list of native supported dongle. Plugin your 3G dongle and you will be asked for superuser permission, accept and then push connect, a second superuser permission show, accept and see if you get connected(if your 3G dongle is in the supported devices than you are done).
If your device is not yet supported the you can do some manual worck. You need to find out your Target Vendor & Target Product
Using Terminal emulator type: dmesg scrool the list until ttyUSB0 then note this ID's.
Go to your Internal Memmory(sdcard) where pppwidget folder store the configuration file then in "cfg" folder you need to create a cfg file like this.
create a 19d2.1016(replace with your VENDOR/PRODUCT).txt file with notepad on your computter with this content:
Code:
# Digi Net Mobil ZTE (MF110)[COLOR="Red"]<= replace with your 3G dongle Model[/COLOR]
TargetVendor= 0x19d2[COLOR="red"]<=replace with your VENDOR[/COLOR]
TargetProduct=0x1016[COLOR="red"]<= replace with your PRODUCT[/COLOR]
MessageContent="5553424312345678000000000000061b00000002000000000000000000000
Put this file in /sdcard/pppwidget/cfg folder and delete "txt" termination.
You should be fine now.
This is an example for ZTE MF110.

Wow nice info..

Thanks goodoane for the nice guide.
I posted my success using this method earlier in this forum over here

PPP widget problem
Hello!
I have a problem with my Nexus 7 tablet. I try to connect it to mobile internet (via OTG cable), did some research over the net, followed the instructions and finally realised that my modem is ZTE MF110 and not supported by the PPP widget (So this thread is just what i am looking for, i suppose). My problem now is that when i type "dmesg", it says OPERATION NOT PERMITTED. In which path should i type this? Is there another way to find target vendor and target product? I would be very glad if you could help me in any way.
Waiting for your reply!
Thanks in advance.

terminal Server Port number

Hi,
Is there any way to use the terminal server client to use different port numbers. I have terminal servers that use non standard as well as default ports, we change to get though firewalls ect. I know you can change the default listener port, is there anyway to enter the port number from the TS interface, in the windows world I would just enter servername:2323 and it would use port 2323.. Any ideas?
With the WM6 version of Remote Desktop you can enter the URL/IP Address followed by a colon and then the port number, but not in WM5.
You could try and install the WM6 version that's attached, although I haven't tried it on WM5. (DO SO AT YOUR OWN RISK, ETC)
What you can do with the WM5 version of RDP is
1. Copy and paste the default RDP Shortcut on the PPC and rename it with any name describing the server you want to connect to.
2. Run the new RDP shortcut and then use the Running Programs tab in the Start > Settings > System tab > Memory app to actually stop RDP. (This creates the necessary registry entries.)
3. Edit the following registry key on the PPC.
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Terminal Server Client\<NEW SHORTCUT NAME>]
Add a DWORD value named "Server Port" and enter the new port number
you want to use.
For what it's worth, the WM6 version allows automatic login and is far more responsive.

Thanks!! The WM6 works great, one note it doesn't replace the old version. Just had to create a shortcut to the new version and it works with no problems.

i copied the original wptsc.exe and renamed it to exampletsc.exe and started it. i stoped it as you describe and checked the registry for the keys but i can´t find a new folder with the name of the new rdp file... i can only find and edit the default folder.

Remote Desktop Connection from PDA (hTC Touch Diamond) to linux (ubuntu)

Hi all! This is a thread for the linux lovers aut there...
I have a hTC Touch Diamond with WinMo 6.1 and I want to remotely connect it to my ubuntu desktop.
DETAILS:
-my ubuntu connects to the internet through a (MSI) router that has a PPPoE connection
-I set up the Remote Desktop in ubuntu and got something like "Your desktop is only reachable over the local network. Others can access your computer using the address 192.168.x.xxx , x.local."
-Then I noticed that "192.168.1.100" was a link to "vnc://192.168.x.xxx::5000"
-Also the "x.local" was a link to "vnc://x.local::5000"
-I already have a VNC client for PocketPC (link below) but don't know how to use it...
-my PDA connects to the internet through a (orange)3G-connection
- oh...and yes...I'd like to remote connect NOT only from the local network!
If someone already got this kind of connection working, please, please share.
Thanks!
over&out
yes you need the client on the pda and the vnc server on your linux box
if you want to be able to use it over the internet thats just a setup thing for your lan network vnc works the same no matter what the client is running on
pda, another pc a mac you name it
suggest you read up on how you setup the vnc server and client
and get it to work on your lan and then move on getting all the ports opened and or directed so your router don't block it and it should work over the internet without an probs
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Virtual_Network_Computing good place to start reading
First of all, you must forward ports (5900 and 0) on your router.
Later in system preferences you'll wind remote desktop settings

}
Setup your password, reboot the router and voila!
In VNCViewer for ppc type your ip : no 192. or 10. but the one you can find ex. here :
http://www.ip-adress.com/
So, your IP::5900 and below type your password, click connect and wait for your ubuntu desktop appear.
DONE! this is how I did it
ok! After some searching/learning/trying I finally got it working. Here is how you do it:
NOTES:
- PDA: hTC Touch Diamond with custom ROM (DiaDuit)
- PC: LinuxMint 8 (based on ubuntu 9.10 karmic koala)
- internet connection (PC): through a MSI wireless router
- internet connection (PDA): orange 3G (my provider)
1. get the VNC Client (for PDA) from below this post (vncviewer).
2. set your linux box:
- press ALT+F2 to open the "Run App" dialog
- enter "gconftool -u /desktop/gnome/remote_access/network_interface" and hit RUN
(if you don't have a karmic based linux see this for help: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/VNC/Servers)
- configure the Vino application (this is the default VNC server in ubuntu based distros): http://www.debianadmin.com/remote-desktop-sharing-in-ubuntu.html
3. configure your router (if you have one): just forward the ports 5800 and 5900 for your local IP (mine is 192.168.1.100). You can use other ports; just have to change these default ones in vncviewer and ofcourse to forward them properly.
4. find your external IP (http://www.ip-adress.com/) and enter it in the vncviewer. Type your password. Hit ENTER!
5. scare your girlfriend and make her think the computer is possessed. (Well...in fact it is ! )
Feel free to ask me about anything I failed to explain.

[APP] Compiled lynx binary for android - Shell or ADB

I've searched the web, and found no lynx binaries for android, so I set out to compile it myself.
For the uninitiated, lynx is a text-based browser. No images, no javascript, no flash. Just pure content.
You can use it by connecting to your phone through adb, telnet, ssh or a shell on the phone itself.

This is lynx version 2.8.8 with ncurses 5.9
I pretty much just followed the instructions at http://www.embedu.org/Column/Column294.htm, and added a flag to make the linking static. No code changes were required.
Installation instructions
Root is not required.
You need to unzip the file on the /sdcard folder. The following files must exist:
/sdcard/lynx/lynx.cfg
/sdcard/lynx/lynx.lss
/sdcard/lynx/cache/
Then you need to move the binary to /data/local (or /system/xbin if you want something more permanent. Then you'd need root)
and run this command:
chmod 755 /data/local/lynx
Then run :
/data/local/lynx
and enjoy!
Additional information
If you want to put these files somewhere else, you must redefine the following variables, respectively:
LYNX_CFG (eg: export LYNX_CFG=/system/etc/lynx.cfg)
LYNX_LSS (eg: export LYNX_LSS =/system/etc/lynx.lss)
TMPDIR (eg: export TMPDIR =/cache)
If you receive an error message about the terminal, you need to configure a terminal.
Here are some instruction (for nano, but it works the same)
Sources are at the following addresses:

Will be testing on my thunderbolt later today. I'll let you guys know how it goes.
However, would you mind reposting this on RW, or would you mind if I were to repost it and link back?
[EDIT] In having just configured everything, I also get the error from the post above. It seems as though lynx thinks it doesn't have internet access. This is the case on 3g and wireless networks. Let me know if you want me to test anything for you.[/EDIT]
All the best,

Well, I was able to install it from a chrooted ubuntu 10.10 distro on my device. It's already compiled for ARM on ports.ubuntu.com, so maybe it's not so exclusive.

Nice. Can you point me to the correct file? I got as far as http://ports.ubuntu.com/pool/universe/l/lynx-cur/, but I don't know which one contains the binary.
While this is quite cool, why lynx? Why not elinks? It has much better layout capabilities. It has tabs! It even has javascript.

[APP][3.1+] USB Device Info v0.0.5

Description
Android 3.1 introduced USB host mode which allows the user to plug USB devices to your Android tablet in the same way as a Desktop PC and extend its functionality (if the tablet has the correct drivers of course).
This application will provide information about almost all currently plugged-in USB device (see below for more info about the 'almost').
Information includes:
The Device class
The USB device path
The Vendor ID (VID) and the Product ID (PID).
A List of all interfaces and their endpoints.
This application uses two different methods to collect information:
Android mode will use the native android USB API.
Linux mode will parse /sys/bus/usb/devices/.
Each mode (Android/Linux) will provide slightly different information. For example Android mode will give you more information about a device's endpoints and interfaces, while Linux mode will give more information about the device itself (serial number, how it identifies itself, etc.)
Notes
If you download the accompanying databases, the application will also be able to provide you with additional info such as the Vendor of the device (which is not necessarily the brand!), the vendor's logo and the product name.
The Vendor ID database is the one used by my "USB VEN/DEV Database" application. Updating in one application will also update the other.
As this application is using the default Android API some devices might not appear. USB Hubs (and devices connected to them) are invisible event though they seem to function properly, and mice seem to be filtered out of the provided list. I'm looking into ways to fix this.
Device Subclass resolution will be added in the next version.
I wrote this application as an exercise to explore fragments and the new USB host API. Hopefully it will be useful to someone else.
The database is parsed from: http://www.linux-usb.org/usb.ids
Changelog
v0.0.1 First public release
v0.0.2 Added Interface and Endpoint resolution
v0.0.3 Databases can now be downloaded.
v0.0.4 Now also parses /sys/bus/usb/devices/ for those pesky devices android hides. Added export.
v0.0.5 Added support for small screen devices. Bugfixes and stability improvements.
Permission Explanation
ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE: Used to check if the device is on-line and using which interface.
INTERNET: Used to go on-line and download the updated database.
WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE: Used to write the database to the SD card.

Sent from my Folio 100 using Tapatalk
The official USB API only came into play at 3.1 so I am currently compiling against that.
On the other hand the folio has a USB port right? Let me see what I can do later today.
Yes it has. Thanks
Any chance you can check if '/sys/bus/usb/devices/' gets populated in the Folio?
Quick walk-though in case you are unfamiliar with Linux:
1. plug a usb stick in the folio
2. Download a terminal application (like android terminal emulator: https://market.android.com/details?id=jackpal.androidterm) and start it
3. enter 'cd /sys/bus/usb/devices/' without the quotes and press enter
4. enter 'ls' without the quotes and press enter
5. post back what you see
(you can also do this from an adb shell if you know how)
if in step 3 you get something like "can't cd to xxx" I'll have to think of something else.
ok, I'll try

[GUIDE][Tool][WindowsOnly][NonRoot] USB Reverse Tethering

Hello there!
Since the most recent guide thread ((that I found) [GUIDE] USB Reverse Tethering - New method) does is quite
complicated for many and requires root and for the sake of simplicity, I wanted to present a simpler alternative
to you here in a separate thread, which works without root and is not outdated.
If this violates any XDA rules, please close the thread.
-This method works 100% on Android 9. For other versions you need to check.
-Very useful for people whose wifi module is broken (like mine x.x)
I will attach the .zip here as well as pictures for a better understanding.
Requirements are:
-A working USB connection
-USB debugging enabled.
-A Windows computer
-adb
First, of course, we need to unzip the .zip.
In this case it doesn't matter where.

}
Second, we need to open the console and go to the path of the extracted .zip
CD path\to\gnirhtet-rust-win64
Third, we press tab 2 times in the cmd, space, write install and press enter.
When that's finished, we press tab again twice, space and write run and press enter.
Alternatively, if "gnirehtet" is already installed, you can use the .bat, provided in the .zip to start it.
That's it! You got reverse usb tethering!
thank you for sharing, i followed the steps but didn't succeed in getting internet
i think you should mention having adb in systempath or just extract your program in adb directory
my steps were
get adb fastboot and extract it
get your program extracted inside adb directory
start cmd normally without admin rights
execute first command in your post to install ( returned success)
execute second command ( returnt 1 at the end ) but no internet

You may also check the re-link app at https://re-link.io, as it doesn't even need ADB on Windows, making it safer to use
