Somebody tried to install the new market?http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=868767
Would be nice, if somebody try. I cant get it worked. Apk install fails und zip too.
just tried, the normal apk, and the update.zip
( com.android.vending_2.2.6.apk ) and ( Vending-2.2.6-signed-testkeys.update.zip )
doesnt work for me :/
No luck there either, force closes everytime no matter how installed (update, install, plain apk replace...). Logcat says the app is lacking GAPPS access permission (permission to access gapps account). Guess it's some API mismatch?
it supposedly works when updated ->2.1.2 -> 2.2.6. Haven't tried yet...
i succeded to run it on my milestone with CM6.1..but only for a few seconds. i cleared the data on old market app, then wiped the cache and put the new market as Vending.apk in \system\app. it started and i had some seconds to try it out..then it FC'd and did not start anymore. nice GUI tho! hope someone will fix it soon.

same thing happened to me, tried both the zip and the apk and NO LUCK
i managed to install it but then i get continously force closes and cannot get into the market anymore!
Your best bet is to wipe pretty much everything and to inject is straight away.
Or just wait a week or so.
I used appbrain to uninstall the Market update, then I successfully installed an app before market auto-updated and resumed its regular force close programming.
Crappy workaround, but it gets the job done.

Upon further testing, the trick is to open up the newly installed app before market updates. I do this by keeping the notification window open while the app downloads, and then clicking on the app as soon as it is finished downloading. Soon after, market will auto update and forceclose.
Reminds me of the old nintendo timing.

what rom are u using? imm running cm6 and i still have the old market
I saw somewhere a market that was either new or themed. It had a dark grey theme...not the typical white and green.
Does anyone know anything about this? Is this the NEW market?
Is there a way to theme the market?
Can anyone post old market .apk? I installed the new one and i'm not able to enter into apps and install/update them. Everytime I have force closes.
And didn't backuped the old one so i can't restore it.
I'd be glad if anyone upload it.
#EDIT
Got it. If anyone have the same problem as me:
-uninstall new market via app manager
-download Vending.apk
-put it to the system/app and install

I have juwe's 2.3.4 rom and my phone is rooted but when I try to use root explore or system app remover they don't work. Root explore just crashes (the main music player also recently began doing this) and system app remover only allows me to remove installed apps, when I go to system apps it doesn't load the apps. I wanted to go in there to uninstall the music app and install a new to fix the problem.
Thanks for any help.

Yup, came with the rom. I didn't update it tho from the market but the superuser claimed it granted access.
apps that need root access like adfree works perfectly, maybe it's something to do with my file system ?
Could it be the rom itself blocking me from accessing it ?

Update: 11/20/11 Unofficial Market update which brings it to Version 3.3.12. Better integration with the Music market. You can now download free music and purchase music as well. Sorry U.S.A. only for free music (?)
How to install: download apk and install like any other apks.
http://db.tt/0j3ii5Oq
Here is the latest (leaked?) update of the Market which brings it to version 3.3.11.
And here's how I installed it: I am currently on CM7 nightlies
Download .apk (Market-3.3.11.apk)
Open Root explorer (or any file manager w/ root access)
Move New Market .apk (Market-3.3.11.apk) to system/apps (make sure to mount R/W first)
Move (or delete, but I suggest to move .apk just in case) older market .apk (Vending.apk) to your sdcard
Rename new market as Vending.apk
Fix Permissions (rw--r--r)
Exit Root Explorer (or any file manager)
Reboot
Done! Whew...
OR...
Download .apk
Rename New Market .apk to "Vending.apk" (w/o the quotes)
Install just like any other apllication
Reboot (if necessary)
*I didn't get the chance to try the second option so it may or may not work, but it kinda made sense...
**not sure if (Vending.apk) is the same name for SENSE ROMS (I don't remember) but just make sure to rename it the same way...
FOR MORE INFO... MARKET 3.3.11
Sounds like a lot of work for nothing. Have you tested and confirm that you can buy a new app with this new market apk?

Hmm this actually is worth the trouble. LOL
you could do it the lazy way and hover over the link on this website and after about 3s a qr code will show up
DL'd and installed earlier. I had been having problems with the speed of other 3.x market apps, this fixes those all, even on 3g. However, some of my installed apps aren't showing up (like Google Maps, of all things). I'm sure there's a simple solution to that, though.

Try and clear "market" data through the application settings and reopen the market. See if that worked...
from the "CRACKED" speedy EVO engine... Via Tapatalk.
It won't install for me. It keeps saying application not installed. If I use root explorer to place the .apk in the /systems/app folder I just get force closes. Clearing data doesn't help either. I have downloaded it several times thinking it was a corrupted download. I'm at wits end here. I have done everything in this post even before I read it as I have updated to all the other previous market releases without issue.
But for some reason this one just doesn't work. I thought maybe it wasn't working on cm7.1 nightli or or the evo shift but some of you have it working so that isn't it. Let me redo this and maybe format cache and dalvik see if that helps.

did you rename the .apk of the new update?
I had zero issues with the new Market. I just installed it like any other .apk. The new Market is very nice. Many small noticable differences. Like when on the My Apps page and you switch accounts it leaves you on the My Apps page instead of reloading the whole damn Market. Overall new Market is definitly an improvement and Vicodan should stop being such a hater

I did try that, but no luck. I'll probably just ignore it until the next time I flash a ROM. Then it'll fix itself, so that's fine. I imagine it's only going to be a few days until I do that anyway.

Titanium Backup can restore all your Market links. I believe there's also other apps designed just to do that too. Use TB or search for an app that restores Market links.

Google Search 2.6 works on Kitkat but first you have to uninstall the new version. The reason why it can activate Google Now as opposed to the newer versions is because it does not check the location settings.
I wonder if anyone figured how to get Google Now back so far.

I had the same issue since updated my N4 to 4.4 via official factory image.
Here's my solution but requires ROOT!
1) If you're using new GE launcher (it's integrated with Google Search app), uninstall it and choose default N4 Android 4.4 launcher.
2) Clear data and cache for currently installed Google Search app and uninstall updates, it should revert back to 3.0 version.
3) Download Google Search 2.6.7 here. Rename it to velvet.apk DO NOT INSTALL!
4) Open your favorite file manager with root option (I use Solid Explorer). Navigate to root/data/dalvik-cache and delete [email protected]@[email protected]
5) Navigate to root/system/priv-app, firstly backup velvet.apk and then delete it.
6) Copy velvet.apk file that you just downloaded and renamed to the same directory root/system/priv-app and change permission to 644.
7) Reboot device
8) Open Google Search app Google now opt-in options will appear, agree and go on.
9) Open Play Store and update Google Search to lastest 3.1 version.
10) Again navigate to root/system/priv-app and restore system original velvet.apk which you just backed up. It is important because when new OTA arrives for yoiur device it will check all root/system/ directory for any changes. OTA update will fail if it detects that user changed system files.
11) Reboot device once again
Google now should work without problem. Also now you can install new GEL, it should work with new Google now features including dedicated left panel on home screen.
I appreciate your effort, but it is not really a solution: nobody should be forced to root their device to get back some functionality, which was accessible before the upgrade.
off course not. But it's best way to fix this issue if you already rooted your device for some other purposes.
I was seeking for solution since updated to 4.4 for 2 days. Tried different methods, with and without root but nothing helped.
It seems like users should wait Google's response for this issue to get a fix.

Hey everybody
I found a link this morning for the new Android 5.0 leaked Google apps: http://http://phandroid.com/2014/10...y-music-and-more-leaked-android-5-0-lollipop/
I've simply installed the Messaging apk and it is working really well on my Rooted AT&T Note 3.
I attempted to install the new Gmail app, but I could not get it to work. I was getting FCs and had to jump back to the current Gmail.
Has anyone been able to get the Gmail apk to work?
Uninstall Gmail using System App Remover. Boot into recovery, clear cache & davlik, fix permissions, reboot, then install it. Those are the steps I followed.

Did you remove any of the updates? Or delete/remove your OTHER Gmail? or did you simply just rename the other gmail2.apk?
I left my other gmail. Didn't uninstall or remove (that's probably my mistake). I renamed the other apk, the I moved the new apk to system/app and renamed and changed permissions. Rebooted, Cleared Cache and Dalvik. STILL FC.
Yup, though remember im on CM11, not stock sammy.
Btw, what did you use to do all that?

Here is a breakdown of my steps:
Uninstalled Gmail app updates through application manager (Stock rooted Touchwiz)
Removed Gmail from the phone with System App Safe Remover (from PlayStore)
Installed the new Gmail apk.
Used SafeStrap to reboot to recovery and cleared Cache, Dalvik, and Fixed Permissions.
Rebooted.
Pushed apk into System/app.
Renamed to Gmail2.apk
Set permissions (rw-r--r--)
Restarted
Opened
FCs for days.
I'm thinking about throwing in the towel on this until they actually release it.
