Why we need super CID? - Desire HD General

Why we need superCID on HTC device? what is the advantages of it?

It's stops OTA updates form getting installed on your phone. And I think its simunlock to
Sent from my HTC Desire HD using xda premium

It doesn't necessarily stop otas from installing. It depends on the ota itself some check the did and some don't. I believe on our device it doesn't check.
Supercid is used to allow a user to flash any ruu for its device. So say I have a branded vodafone dhd with super cid I could flash the unbranded wwe ruu or say maybe I need Arabic support so I flash an ruu that has that

I haven't been able to apply any OTA with supercid.

You were full blown stock correct? No root. Just as if you have flashed an ruu and updated it on its own. Because I remember back in the firmware 1.32 days and even 2.x people were able to ota up.

Nop I was rooted stock with S-OFF and supercid.
Sent from my HTC Desire HD using xda premium

That's why you had issues. You were rooted. Otas don't work if rooted on our device.

Stop trying to OTA. XDA will always have the ROM up faster than most 99% of the time. Besides, it's easy to wait for people on XDA to get a safe package together. Especially with phones like the AT&T One XL.

So if I change cid to 1111111. Means I have sim unlock?

Even unrooted stock with S-OFF and supercid couldn't apply OTA. And now this was a long time ago.

I'm not sure I understand entirely what you're asking, but from what I've read you would need a bootloader that was not locked and had been signed with a key that your current bootloader will accept. Do you have one?
I think he means the following:
IF our bootloader wasn't locked and he would flash a custom ROM but wanted to return to the stock one, if he can flash his stock bootloader back to prevent bricks in the future.

[Q] Does making a goldcard lose root

Hi, I was thinking of making a goldcard to unlock my phone but was wondering if you lose root capabilities. I am on wildpuzzle at the moment and want to unlock what is my best option. T mobile
No, it doesn't, cuz root is in your system, not sd card

Goldcard will not unlock your phone. There is no free way for the Wildfire AFAIK.

Regional based OTA upgrade. Have confusions.

I have a confusion of regional OTA update.
on the Moto It depends on the location. But I don't understand how this location is examined. Is it examined by where I have bought it or where the set is placed..
In a nutshell, I have Atrix from USA but I live in Asia. It said Asia's upgrade is still planning phase but in USA it will be available in Q3.
So will I'd be able to receive the OTA from Asia?

That's what I was confusing about!
I don't recommend flashing the ota tho. Once it id available wait for a fruit cake or fast boot images. Don't run the risk of getting a bootloader locked or hard bricking.

I am rooted with cwm recovery and on the stock Arabian rom installed via backup provided by a kind person in this forum. I could see the 1.45.708.1 update but it is complaining that my device has been modified (oh yes ofcourse) and I have to contact htc to get it fixed. Is there any way I can install the new stock rom.
I was told that going to stock recovery will allow you to update your phone. Does anyone test this as I cannot get that to work

Returning to stock using HTC RUU?

I have a VZW HTC 10 that is unlocked S-Off using Sunshine. Does anyone know if I can use the HTC RUU 1.96.617.2 from htc.com/us/support/htc-10/news/ or will this make my phone unusable on VZW create a brick or make it so I'm unable to unlock it again using Sunshine?

I figured out what I needed to do with some help from JCase, Beaups and your archives Thank you for your work by the way. It did what I was intending to pass SafetyNet unfortunately can't find a way to re root without triggering detection again Not sure what it's looking at but it doesn't see the root after using root switch just fails the CTS Profile.
