Hi,
I'm new to the forums, so please bear with me. I have root and unroot mi KF several times, with no problems, as well as doing factory resets, again with no problems. However, last time i did, the TWRP software was not deleted when doing the factory reset and will like to delete this utility since i will not be rooting the device anymore (i have a Nexus 7 now, so there's no need for me to do that). How can erase TWRP from my KF? Thanks

I just recently rooted my Kindle Fire, put TWRP on there, along with flashing the latest CM9 ICS ROM. However, I have a few questions regarding this now that I have it setup.
1. Am I able to do a factory reset in the settings menu to delete all the apps and settings and still have CM9 installed? Or do I need to just wipe the whole system and reflash the CM9 rom to delete everything and start fresh?
2. In order to keep root and not lose it during an OTA update do I have to disable OTA updates altogether using this guide? http://www.jayceooi.com/2011/12/20/how-to-disable-auto-software-update-ota-on-kindle-fire/
Or is having Voodoo OTA Rootkeeper enough to save me from not losing root and getting an unwanted OTA update?
3. Is there anything else major I need to know about having the Kindle Fire rooted and this rom installed?
Any answers or tips are greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Now that you have cm9' you can sleep easy. There is no longer any trace of Amazon's rom, and a factory reset will do nothing to harm the system.
That means No MORE OTA UPDATES! The biggest thing with this rom is to keep checking for newer versions as there is new ones every few days ( note that when upgrading on the same from you should only need to wipe dalvik cache)
Hello
We wonder how to recover for example photos and videos from a factory reseted SM-G900F Android 5 non-rooted. So the problem is that is an non-rooted phone. And it is factory resetted once. And it was a long time it was resetted (2015 in may). But we want to try everything to get back our precius pictures from a vacation. On MS Windows you can use "eSupport UndeletePlus" to revocer files and use other software to recover eg deleted NTFS/FAT32 partitions. But i dont now how to do similar stuff in android, something with adb?
I have tried dr.fone toolkit but no success. See attachted image.
But i wonder what to do now without loss any more images. (The filesystem overwrites "deleted" files).
Should i try to get root permissions on the existing stock ROM and try apps like DiskDigger? Or should i flash a rooted ROM to the SM-G900F?
Been working on this for a while now, but can't figure out how to get around it.
The phone is currently runing a custom 8.1.1 ROM and I have TWRP 3.2.0.0 installed.
I've done full wipes and factory resets, but the phone never seems to fully reset. I am fine with losing everything on the phone. I just want it 100% clean so I can sell it, which of course includes getting rid of the password on TWRP so the next user can mess around in there.
I have access to TWRP, the password is mine. But I can't seem to remove it, and every time I wipe and reset the phone it still asks me for my old device password with the owner message present as well.
I have also tried to format data, but it is unable to mount the data partition it seems, which I am guessing is due to encryption.
What's my fastest way to a reset and clean phone? I'm getting desperate here since I'm running out of time.
Edit: Through no change in process of my own, it suddenly completely reset. Now I'm more curious as to why.. Can anyone explain so I can avoid this issue in the future?
for me, the only way is to flash the full factory image from the Google site
First clear data and than flash software
Hi guys. I have a Fire HD 10 2017. When I first got it I let it update to 5.6.2. Later I decided to root with the intention of clearing Amazon bloatware and changing the launcher for a more minimal Android experience. I successfully gained root using Kingaroot, installed SuperSu, changed my build.prop to 987654321 to preclude future updates, and followed a tutorial here to delete many Amazon apps via ADB.
After deleting several apps, not including the Fire Launcher, I restarted my device. Now it will not boot to Home screen. It simply shows the Amazon start up screen. I can access the restore mode, and tried to do a factory reset, but no change.
The only thing I can think to do now is reload a stock 5.6.0 rom. Will that work? Can I do that from just the restore interface? Are there any guides posted here to help me through that?
Thanks for your help, any assistance is appreciated.
Hello,
I'm trying to help my mom with her Nook tablet, which is a Samsung sm-t230nu. I initially installed TWRP and a custom ROM from these forums and hoped that would be enough, but she wants me to fully factory reset it since for whatever reason, the Nook reading app refuses to reinstall on it. But when I do the factory reset (wipe data, cache, dalvik) through TWRP, it doesn't actually...wipe anything. The same programs are there, the wifi is still autoconnecting, it still has her passcode on the lock screen, etc. Am I missing something here? Do I need to do something via ADB to force-wipe it?
I appreciate any help.
