Dear all,
attached are 3 files. FontOnStorage.zip contains FontOnStorage.exe which is used to load any fonts in the same folder as it. sunglobe.zip contains sunglobe.tff chinese font from CE-Star. As it is more than 3 MB, it is wasting precious space in the RAM. Chinese Fonts.zip contains the registry entries required.
How to use them:
1) Create a folder (I used "Fonts") in the Storage (you need Big Storage)
2) Place FontOnStorage.exe and the font file in the folder.
3) Unzip Chinese Fonts.zip and run the registry file to install it.
4) Soft reset and run FontOnStorage.exe. It will load the font file.
You can create a shortcut to startup if you use the font frequently.
Without FontOnStorage.exe, the font will not be used by Windows.
Great, did you post it in the PPCSG forum as well?
Nope. I did not. Anyway, I find that this method works as long as you run the executable immediately after a soft reset. Else, sometimes, it doesn't work.
you can always post in the PPCSG forum...I'm sure lots of ppl would find this helpful

Hi ebliss, I still can't view the chinese character after the following steps.
1) Create a folder (/Storage Card/Windows/Fonts) in the Storage (miniSD card)
2) Place FontOnStorage.exe and the sunglobe.tff chinese font file in the folder.
3) Unzip Chinese Fonts.zip and run the registry file to install it.
I'm not sure if I perform correctly for step 3. I unzip in my PC and run the registry. I can't run the registry file in my ipaq.
4) Soft reset and run FontOnStorage.exe. It will load the font file.
Please help me step by step. Thank you very much.

dear all expert,
did anyone successfully try this out ? Please guide me through.
regards.
First of all, it works. thanks to ebliss for the precious info. It saves a lot of real estate on my main memory!!
Now, in order for it to work, you must
1. Have the font on your storage (Obviously). Remember, it's on the STORAGE, not MEMORY CARD. Memory card's load time is too long and too unstable ... I wouldn't risk it. But if you don't mind trying, sure let me know if that works or not.
2. You must load FontsOnStorage on startup ... without it it won't work.
3. Have the right path in the registry. The registry file ebliss has provided points to "\Storage\Fonts\". If you have put the font in any other directory that registry file is NOT going to work for you. However, you can use Resco Registry editor, and do a search for sunglobe (assuming that's your font), and change the path manually one by one.
1) Create a folder (/Storage Card/Windows/Fonts) in the Storage (miniSD card)
2) Place FontOnStorage.exe and the sunglobe.tff chinese font file in the folder.
3) Unzip Chinese Fonts.zip and run the registry file to install it.

The reason that doesn't work for you is ...
1. You've put the font on the STORAGE CARD, not STORAGE MEMORY. Storage card = SD card = unstable and slow load time. I am not sure if it will work or not, it can create problem. But it is worth a try.
2. The path you have specified is incorrect. Again, if you use ebliss's registry, he points the files to "\Storage\Fonts\". Since you've put your fonts in "\Storage card\Windows\Fonts\" that registry file won't work for you. You'll have to manually change the registry yourself.
BTW, FontOnStorage doesn't have to be on the same directory as the Fonts ... it can be on the main memory ... that way you won't get a warning everytime it loads!
Thanks again ebliss! It's great!
cani have arabic in this way? and if anyone has any cool font plz share
I think you can move ANY additional font to the storage memory this way ...
anybody share arabic font and any cool font that i can set as system font
Hi ebliss,
I installed it to my Tmobile SDA. I put the font file in \windows\fonts.
After I run FontOnStorage.exe file, I see an icon showing up on the top. But when I try to read a txt file or browse Chinese website, I still can't read Chinese. Any clue?
Thanks,
Alen
greet job...i find this long times..thk for you..
Sorry. I could not download the attachment at this time. Anyone?
worked fine on my HTC Kaiser/Tilt ( Windows Mobile 6.1 Prof ) ... from the 'Storage Card\Fonts' folder ... now i can see various glyphs / Unicode letters/symbols, etc much better in Internet Explorer Mobile .
Thanks, to user 'ebliss' .
i've previously tried ... a different way ... changed/added few registry keys to force the Windows to use the 'Tahoma' font from the Storage Card , but instead of Tahoma it will actually use a different Unicode font , this trick worked , but font's glyphs were not as good looking or as clear as other stock font's glyph , so i removed those registry entries .
~ Bry8Star .
i can't seem to make this work on WM6.5... anyone knows how?
well... after days of trying... IT WORKS!
need help with registry
can someone please teach me how to run the registry if it's on the storage card?
I'm searching for a programmatic way to detect the start menu folder position from the SYS packages but while I found the entries for all the other localized folders (appbuttons, program files, fonts, application data) I can't find anywhere the localized path of the start menu and its games subfolder (%CE11% and %CE14%). I tried searching all the files in all the SYS packages in both ASCII and UNICODE mode but the entries don't seem to be anywhere, not even hardcoded, except for initflashfiles.dat where the folders are used. Is there anybody who has an idea of where could those two paths be stored?
I thought it was in hklm\system\explorer\shell folders, but I don't see a value in there for the start menu. You may be able to create one, I guess.
Hello,
heres my Tool for simple anything you try to do with external Applications like ADB.
Short Description of my Tool:
you can self create a menu in the contained XML-File with commands you are use with
adb or other Applications. Then configure Actions you will do when you click at this menu.
you can do things like Start Processes and put the Output into a Text Window or a
configurable colored and separated log-Window, copy or delete Files / Folders, Ask the User for Input of a folder
or file and work with this input in another command.
Preconfigured XML contains various adb-commands for logging, reboots, tasks and
Kernel splitting / creating.
This is a Beta-Version !
Copy contained Files into a local folder without spaces ! many binary packages won´t work
with spaces in a folder- or filename.

Hey all -
Have a question.
I want to call the Camera intent, but have the camera save to a custom file.
I've read this: https://developer.android.com/training/data-storage/files#WriteExternalStorage
And the only two options it gives is 'Save to a public directory" (like \Pictures, \Ringtones, etc), or "Save to a Provate Directory".
The latter sounds like it's what I want to do - but mentioned 'getExternalFilesDir()' function retrieves my application's custom data directory (which is (1)removed when the app is uninstalled, and (2)difficult to find when the phone is plugged into a computer - to copy the saved files from.)
What I'd REALLY wanna do is save my files to a root directory in the external storage. (Like, "/<sdcard mount path>/PicLogger/<file>").
Anyone know of a guide, or examples that show how to save images through the camera into a custom directory like this?
Thanks!
-Mike
You can save the file wherever you want, given that you have permission to write to SD card, by passing the file URI as MediaStore.EXTRA_OUTPUT in the MediaStore.ACTION_IMAGE_CAPTURE intent. See Save the full-size photo.
That being said, you should prefer something like "DCIM/YourAppName" or "Pictures/YourAppName", which apps like Google PhotoScan etc have been doing.
Code:
new File(Environment.getExternalStoragePublicDirectory(Environment.DIRECTORY_DCIM), "YourAppName")
Apps should not create their own directories directly under the SD card root directory, and if they want to make something visible to user, it should be under one of the standard directories, preferrably under a subdirectory named after your app.
Or if you want to support scoped storage since Q, you can check out this SO answer.
Hello!
More portable USB drive and pendrive "not removable" type, always created $Recycle.bin folder.
How to fully disable $Recycle.bin folder create?
Need: plugged drive do not modify filesystem with $Recycle.bin or System Volume Information
Not need any reply this text: "hide hidden folders". Need real solution.
I have old patch to "Open file" window size set to any size, and patched explorer.exe (not registry mod, real file patch). Need real patch to disable folder creating.
Recycling disabled: all drive zero bytes and disabled.
All registry tips not working:
HKCU/Soft/MS/Win/Curr/Explorer/BitBucket/NukeOnDelete=1
Gpedit only disable "move to recycle bin", not disable folder creating. Not working.
Now created in all drive $Recycle.bin FILE with zero byte, now folder not created... all Windows starting (or delete files) say: Corrupted Recycle bin, recreate? ...popup message for all drive (with this fake file).
SysVolInfo:
Disabled search, disabled thumbnails create.
Available any solution, patch, customizes, manager, etc. for this problem?
Thanks!

Enable Recycle Bin for Removable Drives in Windows 11 Tutorial
The Recycle Bin provides a safety net when deleting files or folders. When you delete any of these items from a hard disk, Windows places it in the Recycle Bin and the Recycle Bin icon changes from empty to full. If you have multiple hard drives, partitions, or an external hard drive connected...

Not ok. I have... many USB pendrive builded HDD type, not "removable" type. And all removable external HDD recreated this folders.
Hi, I also tried all those registry mods and policies but nothing works on my Win7-x64. I found that $Recycle.bin folders on all volumes are created everytime explorer.exe process is started. But a quick look doesn't show that explorer.exe would contains $Recycle.bin string, so maybe it's obfuscated some way or it's in some DLL that explorer.exe calls. I wonder nobody cracked this crap yet...
