when i bought the 8525, it came with a screen protector which was already on the screen. i did not want to take it off because it was really nice and it obviously protects it. My question is, if its on for a long time, will it come off? i know that the Treo 650 came with one also, and my friend is unable to take it off now, i don't want that to happen to my device...
Hmm thats weird did you buy a refurbished unit or something?
I only ask because to my knowledge they do not come with a screen protector.
hmm that is weird. i just got a brand new one last week and the screen protector was still wrapped up brand new...its really cheap so i left it in the box...probably want to make sure you didnt get an opened box or anything like that
well I bought it a week used 8525...but I just wanna make sure I can take it off after the screen protector after it wears out(scratches and such)...because my friends treo 650 screen protector wouldn't come off
I've had mine about a month now, and mine came with the protector as well. It works okay, but I have no idea about it coming off. However, I have a new phone on the way because the camera doesn't work. Wonder if it will have one as well.

well since u are getting a new one, take the protector off and let me know if the screen is alright...
I bought some of the palm screen protectors and they stay on just fine, it is a b*tch to put them on though, you have to be patient and try to slide them into place otherwise it seems to never align correctly, and don't worry about what size to buy you just need to cut them down to size anyway.
I almost bought the cheap ones online but I knew staples would take them back if they sucked and some dude on ebay wouldn't.
The pack cost me $15 for 13 pieces. Make sure you cut out a custom template in thicker stock paper (I just used the paper that came in the packaging from palm) so you don't have to ruin any of the protectors through trial and error.
I've used them on other things such as mp3 player, other phones and such before and have never had any problems taking them off.
Good luck!

get an invisible shield from http://www.shieldzone.com/, its not cheap vinyl, kinda rubbery feeling. LIFETIME GUARANTEED not to scratch. I've had them on all my phones for 2 years now and hasn't gotten scratched yet. you can watch this crazy video of one on a mac and someone grinding drywall screws on it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jrMVyp8tcQw

I second this post. I have shieldzone protectors on both my 8125 and my 8525. They are awesome and easy to apply or take off if you wish to, I have never had reason to remove since I put them on. They also make skins for the entire device, though I don't know how they will work. I just stuck with the screen protector. They have a cool video of an iPod with a full skin stuck in a box with a bunch of sharp objects and shook around for awhile with no damage.
I have never had an issue with them and have had one on my 8125 for over a year and on my 8525 for a few months.
Anyone using x1 this way? Are there any scratches on the screen or is it safe to screw the sheet?
Yes! Since December! And no Problems
I did, but I put my X1 in my pocket often (although not in same pocket with keys) and also use it the majority of the time without a case. So a screen protector ($10 USD!!) is a small investment for protecting the screen.
I had mine since september and never used a protector or case
keep it in my pants pocker or inner jacket pocket without anything else
no problem for me
nice to hear that! I'm using a softcase for the phone and was just wondering if stilus could leave marks on the screen. Just tired to stick the sheets, I always get some air bubbles between the sheet and the screen. Thanks for the feedback
Decided to take mine off as well. The screen was not really good to read when the sun was shining on it with protector on it.
I havent used it for long but I guess it is going alright...
My recommondation to take it off..
Greets
I use one. And it has scratches on it (Quite a lot). I don't know if the screen is harder than the protector. At least I wouldn't want my screen with these scratches... And I'm usign my fingers online, never the stylus!
i used my x1 without a screen protector since nov 08 without any probs.
but 2 weeks ago i decided to buy one and only one week later i had an heavy car accident where my car flipped over two times. guess what my xperia was on the dash and was kicked around. after i found my x1 which was still navigating me there were scratches all over the phone and so on the screen protector but it saved my screen.
pls buy ur x1 a screen protector. every x1 deserved it.

what's the secret? the reason I actually decided not to use protector sheets anymore is that anytime I apply them, there are bubbles and dust between the screen and protector
I really hate protectors. I don't know why lol.
Almost 5 months without protector and the result is dozens of scrathes that are visible only when you tilt the phone under s direct light. Otherwise they are invisible. No problem there.
How many people use em? Got the invisible shield on but it makes the screen look horrible. Anyone else think the same?

Weird, I have my Zagg on and it looks fine. Unless of course your talking about when the screen is off.
I'm using an XtremeGuard which I got off eBay for $2.50. It is wonderful!! It had bubbles and stuff when the screen was off when I first put it on, but EVERYTHING cleared up within 2-3 days. I used a mild soapy water to put it on, so it was kinda "rainbow" looking when the screen was lit up, but all of that has since dried up. The screen is crystal clear both on and off. If you didn't know there was a screen protector on there, you would see it. You can tell by touching it, it feels a little more grippy, which I actually like. Also it hasn't intefered with the performance of the touchscreen as well, I'm 100% satisfied with it.

Mine is still as naked as the day I bought it. Mint condition, too.

Mine looked terrible at first too, but after about a day, I guess the liquid fully dried and it didn't look cloudy anymore.
Bought a 3-pack from a Sprint store.
Don't use the anti-glare one. It significantly lowers the image quality.
It's akin games which use the film grain effect, except here you'd want the clarity instead of fancy effects.
Thank you all for your responses, I really appreciate it. I guess it only looks bad because I got a few scratches on the screen protector itself but I guess that's why you buy them in the first place. I might call to get a replacement if it gets any worse, these have a lifetime warranty.

That is exactly the reason I don't use a screen protector. They are made out of plastic and will scratch easily. The glass that is covering the LCD is made out of glass and VERY difficult to scratch. Seems like a waste of money to me. I had 3 iPhones and never had a scratch in the glass.
Did not work for me
I bought an invisi shield Saturday and they put it on my phone, I have had problems typing with it. I even tried to recalibrate the typing but it was not even able to type the first letter. Therefore, I took the front shield off and i am able to type with no problem now. Sucks.. maybe they put it on wrong because my wife's phone is working fine with it on. Life time warranty on it so Im going to take it back and have them try it again.

How is the fit on that screen protector? Does it fit exactly all the way around? Is there a space around the edges?
Thanks!
I just got a screen protector put on mine (first time ever having one on) and now it screws up my swyping in... swype... it confuses it... messed with settings and everything.... pain in the...
+1 for Anti-Glare.
I know most people do not like them because they "reduce" the colors or quality of the screen, but I like the fake that it provides a smooth surface and doesn't leave any fingerprints compared to Crystal-Clear screen protectors
I got the Zagg (actually I am on the second one, as the first came off in my pocket and got covered with lint).
I should say that Zagg is great, they sent me a new one with no questions asked and even waived the shipping, since the replacement was requested so quickly after purchase.
In any case, I am now second guessing my decision after viewing a youtube video on the scratch resistance of the screen.
Just go to youtube and search for "HTC EVO screen test". (sorry, as a new user I am unable to post the link).
Here's the link. Pretty impressive.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eeoAl-94bks
I've used all kinds of screen protectors for all my devices until the ZuneHD, which is supposed to have Corning Gorilla Glass, supposedly super scratch resistant. Long story short, i pulled it out of my pocket where it was by itself and it had a nice fat scratch on the surface. Brought it back to Best Buy, got another one, and swearing to never trust any claims to scratch resistance.
Using a clairvue clear on my Evo 4g, and clairvue antiglare on a tp2, and a martin fields on a tp1, all 3 are well protected and i've never been happier.
Hey was wondering how is the screen holding up. Do you guys having any scratches on them or anything? I'm debating on whether to take mine off
It's a very tough screen, mine is still in mint condition w/o a screen protector, but I never leave any sharp objects such as keys in the same pocket as my phone either.
No scratch at all, looks like new... (other than the rest of the device).
And I never used any "protective" thingies.

I've had my HD2 for 14 months and there are no scratches on it at all. When I first got it I saw the well known youtube vid of a guy trying to scratch his HD2 screen and failing. One night I was drunk and decided to show this to a mate, so I took a bottle cap and went to work with my screen, as hard as I could! We were both very impressed at the results (or lack of), but I noticed not long after that you could see where I had scratched it when I'd run my finger over it. If I wiped it clean then you couldn't see it at all. It was VERY feint, but it was there when smudged.
However, it's now 100% disappeared, even after major use.
I used to have a screen protector, but no longer bother. It's obviously always recommended not to put your phone in your pocket with keys & loose change etc., but this screen is THE BEST screen I've ever had on a phone.
I think it only needs a minimum of common sense and it will live for a looooooooooooong time!
Took mine off month ago, and very happy I did. It did nothing but lessen screen sensitivity and slightly dull viewing.
The glass on the screen can't withstand every stracth known to man, but it's pretty tough. Usually, the people with really messed up glass dropped theirs and the glass BROKE.
Here's the scratch test video and here's another thread about this where others share their thoughts and experiences.
I have just avoided putting in the same pocket as my keys, so far so good.
Wow that's pretty cool. I think I'm still going to keep one on though. To me its sort of like insurance. I may not need it often, but when I do, I sure will be glad I have it!

AHHH!!! They really need to move that damn thanks button, but thanks for that
To be honest, if it gives you peace of mind and doesn't have an adverse effect (sensitivity & brightness mainly) then yeah, keep it on.
I have my HD2 about 1,5 years now, and the screen didn't have a scratch at all. Unfortunately the back plate loses it clear finish, but that's acceptable.
Almost a year and no scratches whatsoever. I do keep it in a case whenever I am carrying it around, though. The only wear I can see at all are some indentations in the material on the top right corner of the handset.
Hi,
Got a cover, no scratch at all, like many people, i don't mix keys/smartphone screen, the best way to damage it !
almost a year and no scratch at all. I must say I guard it with my life.
it never leaves my sight and is always in it's original leather pocket.
I had a HTC Touch Cruise before and it was a plastic restitve touchscreen.
Even that thing was okay and usable after 3 years... It had many deep scratches but with backlight on you only saw them a bit and it wasnt a problem for the usability
The screen of the hd2 really needs some effort to get scratched. In my opinion a screen protector is useless, because the power that is needet to scratch this screen would easily cut the protector
But i also use the barely there case, to avoid scratches on the housing (put some tape on the corners to avoid damage from case on/off). The screen protector that was with this case gives me a better feeling on the touchscreen, its easier to glide ^^ and i dont have so many fingerprints
^^^
Fingerprints can be easily removed, you know
Mine is over 9 months old, still as good as new .
My secret is "The Magical Original Leather Pouch"
It never gets out of it, unless I want to use it
Is the camera lens cover made from the same material? Does it resist scratches as well as the screen?
I also don't use a screen protector. My phone is kept in a leather belt pouch, but is handled delicately (partially because it is expensive and partially because it is such a beautiful phone).
Got my TMOUS HD2 when they first came out, and screen is still perfect. I do keep it in a pocket by itself though, so no contact with keys or change.
Ive had mine around 14 months now, never used a protector and there's no problems at all with my screen. This is even after I stopped using the leather pouch a few months ago after getting an extended battery and even after dropping the phone a few times!
Almost one year without screen-protector and without case.
Not only one scratch on the screen.
I have two scratches on the screen, but you have to make effort to see them.
I took it to a sandy beach to read books every day all summer long, no protection whatsoever.
It's a great phone.
I was OK with the top speaker being louder than the bottom, it still sounded pretty good and was nice and loud....
I'm OK with the screen having, what some people refer to as a "pink" or "green/yellow" hue to it... It's a gorgeous screen and unless I'm looking at it at an angle, it is fine.
Over the weekend I tried 3 different tempered glass screen protectors on it, and none of them would stick to the bottom right corner. I then read where some people had a "dent" or curve on the corners of their glass screen that was only really visible when you looked at a reflection in the glass...... Sure enough, my bottom right corner has a pretty good "distorted" image in the reflection. I can't see it or feel it when looking directly at the screen, but the reflection really shows it has an indention in it.
I spoke to Google and they are exchanging my phone for a new one.... I guess I'll examine it when it comes and chose the one that has the least defects? I love this phone and can live with a few little quirks, so I'm not ready to give up it just yet.
I have the same issue (top right corner), I have already unlocked, rooted the phone and I find it too much trouble to put everything back to stock and request a replacement. I don't know if they would send me a new or used unit. I have already purchased a plastic screen protector (haven't received it yet) and hoping that it would stick to the warped corner better than glass.
How the heck can one figure out there is a bump dent on one of the corners of the screen... Try to purchase good screen protectors may be?
Sent from my Nexus 6P
as he said in OP, just look at a reflection in the screen and see if the reflection is bent. my glass protector doesnt sit down on two corners either. waiting until i get a new one to take this one off

I had the exact same problem and at this moment another one is being sent to me. I love tempered glass but with it like this I can't use one because it Pulls up on the bottom right side corner.
I just got a replacement supershieldz TGSP but I am not going to put it on. I know that since the problem is with the screen it won't fit either. Originally I had requested for a refund but seller thought I am asking for a refund due to it not having proximity sensor cutouts. I am not seeing any point in putting it on and finding out that it has the same issue where one end sticks up and separates from the screen. I am now in search of a plastic protector preferably wet application so that its flexible enough to stay put.

I just wanted to share some updates. I tried a wet application Skinomi on my phone. they must have changed the formula of their plastic as its too soft now. Every time I hit the screen with something (fingernail, keys or anything else) it would leave a permanent dent on the screen protector that would not heal even after many days. I didn't see this behavior back when I had Nexus 5 with Skinomi applied on it.
Anyways, since I mentioned before that I did get a replacement TGSP from Supershieldz and never used it. Tonight I put it on the phone and to my surprise it sticks to the screen fully covering it 100%. Even the dented area is showing sticking unlike before. I don't know what changed but my phone screen is definitely the same.
Just wanted to share it in case if anybody else with dented screen doesn't wanna try a TGSP, give it another shot you might get lucky like me.
