Hello everyone!
It's my first post here, I'll try to make this simple and understandable.
I've got an HTC Vogue (obviously), unlocked it last week, installed NFSFAN's ROM, everything is fine. The phone is currently out of plan, which means my contract ended. I want to change carrier (currently on Bell's CDMA), but I don't know where to start. Basically, I want to go with Fido. I read alot about PRL and those ESN, CDMA Tools, etc... Just want some help and small how-to on changing the carrier from Bell to Fido. I have another phone which is with Fido, (LG Neon). Can I get the carrier informations from this phone with some software/hardware or just common sense method (like calling them). At the store, they told me they couldn't get my phone on their network because it was with Bell, but I know there's a way of doing it.. There's a way for everything, and this must be easy.
I qualify myself as moderately advanced in computer skills, so don't be shy to share even the most complicated methods of doing it!
Bump. No one did this before till the Touch Vogue was released?...
I sent you a pm about this a few days ago.
Bell=CDMA
Fido=GSM
Can't switch.

Somewhat true up until last year. New phones that use SIM cards for Bell/Telus HSDPA network are now interchangeable with Rogers via some handiwork.
But yeah, the Touch is, well, a little bit older no SIM cards for her.
You should be able to switch to another CDMA network though, like Sprint (in the US) or Telus.

But HOW?
Droid 2 Global + AT&T = ?
Before anyone says it, i've googled it, and searched this forum for a couple hours, so please no "try the search function" - pointless posts.
Theres a buddy of mine trying to sell me his Droid 2 Global, my problem? I enjoy my HTC Aria. Now the Droid is verizon branded [obviously] and i've seen people complain about how the rom didn't allow them to use the SIM card. Idk if they were kidding or not [because i havn't a clue if there is a SIM slot on the droid 2] but through rooting and installing a different ROM, would be using my AT&T Sim card in the Droid 2 be effective or will it be a high-priced paper weight?
Paperweight. Unless you pay tbh 100$ for the unlocked radio.

Droid 2 & Droid 2 Global, Can I have a guide to unlock both? Or is the process the same for them to be able to use an AT&T SIM card, since the only real guide i've seen says at the end "DOESNT WORK WITH AT&T SIM" so yeah...
It can only be unlocked by team black hat. You have to send the phone to them and the service costs $100. There is no guide available to DIY period.

cool i didnt know that

The Droid 2 doesn't have a SIM cards slot and only has a CDMA radio so it can only be unlocked to work on CDMA only networks.
I was just recently given a brand new Defy+ and am not familiar with how phones work overseas. I will be traveling to Spain for several weeks and was wondering if the phone would work with a Vodafone sim card? Does it need to be unlocked? I am pretty good with Android phones and already plan on rooting it and installing CM7.2. Thanks in advance.

If its a retail phone, it will work with any provider. However if you got it under contract then on order to use any other sim card, it has to be unlocked.
Most of Verizon's world phones are SIM locked, and you either have to get it unlocked, or use Verizon's SIM card. I figured it would be the same for this phone. However, I read somewhere that the pre-release version is unlocked out of the box. I'm guessing by pre-release, they mean the one that was given to the press at the launch event.
Anybody know if all the Ms are unlocked from the factory? Specifically, what I'm after is to find out if they can be used on AT&T or T-Mobile in the US without any modifications. The earlier Motorola world phones needed modifications to do so, but it's worth a shot to see if this maybe is different. Just being generally unlocked saves a step, too, but if someone can provide the information on whether it is unlocked for US bands, that would be great.
I can confirm it does not allow calls using a US T-Mobile SIM. It does show the voicemail indicator and my t-mo # correctly in settings, but I think its just reading that from the SIM card itself.
Doesn't verizon unlock after 90 days good standing? I know for iPhones they do. Might be something I'll try in a few months.

Thanks for the info! I'm not sure if that is the typical behavior or not. I forgot what my Droid Pro did before I unlocked it.
Verizon usually does unlock it if you've been a customer for more than 90 days. They still won't let you use the US networks, though...just international ones. Hopefully P3Droid and his team will work their magic on this one. I know he already ordered a Dev Edition of the M.

It sounds like it is SIM unlocked since it's reading from the T-Mobile SIM at all. I believe all the Razr & Razr Maxx officially come as SIM unlocked from the factory, so I would guess the Razr M would too. It still has the network block for US GSM networks, but that's different than the SIM card.
I'm interested in getting the Razr M to replace my Droid Pro, so if anyone could confirm, that would be great!

That could be, and maybe it's just Verizon's policy these days, considering the iPhone 5 ships unlocked (and the iP5 has no US band lock, either). Hopefully someone can try it with an international SIM when they travel and let us know.
Now that a few people have gotten the Dev version in their hands, any differences on that one as far as the SIM unlock goes? Since Verizon doesn't sell that directly, maybe Motorola left the US bands unlocked on that one.
Is The RAZR M SIM Unlocked From The Factory?
Is there anything new on this?
Sim is Unlocked, it will read any sim but US-Sim seem to be Radio Locked.
Which u can bypass by an Aussie Radio. And then u can use it on T-Mobile or AT&T
I will be able to verify in 1-2 weeks if it will work on an International Sim with out any modification.
Sending my GirlFriend her Razr M to Germany so she can test it on O2.
Yeah, it's unlocked, and you can use it on T-Mobile and AT&T with the Australian radio, but nobody has been able to consistently get 3G on either carrier.
Does anybody test the phone outside of the U.S?
Any word?

I can confim that the razr m is sim unlocked for international use out of the box no modification required. My sister uses one on koodo mobile (canadian service provider) with her koodo sim. When she comes back to the states she pops in the american sim it came with and uses on my verizon plan.

I can confirm that everything works internationally, tried in Italy and Singapore. Also, the network in italy was on the 900 frequency band, so that works for sure, haven't tested 1800 but I don't see why it wouldn't work.
Does it mean that all models of razr m are factory unlocked? I know there are 3 versions of razr m XT905, XT907 and XT902. Just wonder if I can unlock my XT902.
delete / close thread,

I wonder if I let the Razr M ship to Europe [where I live] and I use a Dutch sim, will it work? And I see there is 'verizon' printed on it. Does that mean its sim-locked?
Or should I better buy Razr i?? Europese version
I still dont know why Motorola integrated intel chip on EU version, alot apps are in-compatible And 0 roms
Also, do you think I should buy it? I am looking for the smallest <4.3'' phone...
Thnx guys!

Hi, the Verizon Droid Razr M works fine here in Italy (after setting the APN). No sim lock, no need to root or workon it. By the way... I think it's one of the best sub 4.3" terminal at the moment: good hardware, long battery life, light and pocketable!
Hi,
my RAZR M works fine on O2 Germany, APN Settings required.

Guys, where do you bought it??
And if I buy from site as Ebay, why do these people always response late and is there a chance I get scammed?
Hey, u live in Germany, thats NEXT TO Holland, wanna sell it to me?
I just send one to (Germany Munich) works great on O2 and Tmobile DE
Its the time difference you guys are 7 hours ahead of us.
People tend to answer around 5-9pm US time which is after midnight ur time.
I been having great success getting them on ebay and Local craigslist.
Local so u can see the phone.
Ebay you have a buyer protection plan.
Though keep in mind it may take almost 1 month to arrive depending on shipping method and retarded customs.
Razr i or Razr M are ur choices.
Razr M 200-300 USD will cost you 175-250 EUro
Razr i is 300-500 Euro
So do your math what u want to do. It is a locked bootloader though on the M VZ the i Will be unlocked
Now the Galaxy S2 (i777) version is the one I bought for my GF sister.
Its a great phone but slower than the M. The Razr M also feels alot more premium compared to the cheap plastic feel.
I had both to play with, but the S2 has alot more custom rom stuff to play with.
You are able to damage the LCD of the S2 alot easier.
S2 has the ability to access the Battery the M does not.
The S2 chrome ring is prone to chip. The rear door feels flimsy
Oh and the S2 takes normal Mini Sim where the M takes Micro Sim.

Whats a local craigslist? [sorry my english is bad]
And is a micro sim more smaller than a mini sim [which iphone 4 uses]??
So, I have to cut my sim?
But is it really necessary to put that much efford just to buy a phone?
My last option would be the Galaxy s2 then

In the US Australia and Some European Country.
There is something like a Local Posting called Craigslist, you can buy and sell stuff, like a garage sale online.
(Free for most parts) And since it's local you have to meet them up and buy it form them like at a garage sale.
Just make sure you have some one else with you and meet up at a save secure location and its fine.
Mini-Sim is what normal phones tend to use, which the Galaxy S2 uses.
Micro-Sim is the size like the iPhone 4 and 4S
Nano-Sim is what the iPhone 5 uses
-You have to either cut a mini sim to Micro but it wont work unless u good/precise at cutting since
it has to be perfect else the Click mechanism won't work. Or just get a 5-7 dollar Sim card clipper (Like a hole puncher) make sure its Mini to Micro (not Mini to Nano
No its not much efford, I am with T-Mobile they just give me a Micro sim for free since i am already a customer.
T-Mobile also has Nano Sims if i wanted to go with an iPhone 5 (No cutting just go store and ask)
O2 also has Mini Micro and Nano Sim but they charge 5 Dollars to swap you over unless something happened to ur Sim (Damaged)
Hardware wise i did not like the S2 especially the wierd US veriations.
I do like the i777 which is an US variation by AT&T but it is the closest to International S2 with out the Physical button.
Software wise that phone has tons of support hardware wise its basic.
Hope that helps.
These are the screens shots of XT907 in Germany on O2 using OEM Verizon Rom (No Modified Aussie Radio)
She gets Edge(2G) and HSPA(3.5G) sometimes 3G(3G)Roaming
Though her current area has a lot of interference with electronics.
So in Germany/Europe this phone can run pretty much at is Max on stock ROM, except no 4G and LTE since Europe use 3.5G i believe.

Anything can be done, its all-ways about the money. If you deal with Euro then getting one over to you should be easy.
But if you use Lira or similar currency it may be expensive due to up-conversion.
These phones aren't quite cheap, sure... not as expensive as the stinken GoldBar of an iPhone but not as cheap so u can get one ever week.
I am about send an i777 S2 to my gf next week which is for her sister.

Razr M not working in India (yet)
Hi, so I got my Razr M delivered today here in India. But when I put in my local Vodafone GSM, it showed me a message saying "Your SIM card is from an unknown source." I pressed OK, but it shows the emergency calls only symbol. I tried changing the network mode from CDMA to GSM/UMTS. Didnt work. Then I manually searched for available networks, and tried connecting to them. But everytime I got the same message: "Your SIM card doesn't allow connection to this network".
Any ideas on what could be the problem?

Did you find the solution?
Make sure you fresh ICS or JB firmware loaded.
And that it is not a modded Firmware.
Start with that. If that will not work you have 2 choices.
VZ Firmware with Aus Radio
VZ Firmware with 01 mod
Unless India is on the black list of the phone also which it should not be, u shouldn't have a problem.
My old boss just went back to Dubai with his and had no issues using his phone with local Sims.
Yeah it happens . I will soon post a list of things i have tried , this has something to do with actiavtion of verizon phones in the US and then using it abroad
VZ Firmware with Aus Radio --tried
VZ Firmware with 01 mod --tried
