So my Nexus 7 was trying to boot into the Glazed Rom and it bootlooped. I tried rebooting into recovery, and it worked once but the sdcard would not mount to the PC, and now the tablet won't boot to anything accept fastboot, and I tried to use the all in one toolkit, but every time I tried installing the factory reset, the same thing came out saying FAILED Write command failed unknown error.
I cannot boot Android, I cannot boot recovery (65% of the time) and I cannot restore the factory settings, and I can't put anything on the device....and I just got it yesterday :crying:
Also, I just got it into CWM Touch through the All in One Tool, it can mount and unmount anything accept the sdcard. It says "Error mounting /sdcard"
Please. I am new to the Nexus 7 community, and was so stoked to root and try my new tablet but now I think I screwed myself. I don't care if it is rooted or not now I just want it to work :'( My Nexus S has had these bootloops but never failed to mount the Sd
to reset to factory default, use the tool by this dev "mskip" in dev section(sticky). It will get you the factory image and reinstall to your N7
I've used that tool twice already when doing factory reset. Nice and helpful tool.

I had this problem, use one of the tools to lock and then reunlock your boot loader, and everything will be fine
Note, in case it wasn't obvious, this will wipe your device lol

ok, first of all, i do not have enough post's to post this in the development section where it belongs...anyways, my nexus s is a complete mess. I had brainmaster's miui with the matr1x kernel running for 6 hours and my phone reboots and get's stuck on the boot up screen with the unlocked symbol.
i've tried many battery pulls and yet it won't manage to boot past that screen nor will it mount my sd card. i've been looking all over xda for a fix for this and i can't seem to get any solution to fix my problem.
i tried adb but im not sure if im doing it right or not because im using a mac.
anyways, any help will be greatly appreciated!!
and yes i tried the method where i download the nandroid backup and mount through cwr, but each time i try to mount my sd card to mount it fails, for some reason it only mounts if i have twrp recovery...

try mount "usb storage" also you may try and re-flash miui and not wipe cache ect. it might boot back up.
ok, but how can i reflash the rom if the sd card won't mount? is it possible through adb?

actually this doesn't belong in development section... it goes in Q&A. So yeah that post count limit is there for a reason
boot into recovery by holding volume up and power button and then selecting recovery and backup then wipe data/cache and start over and see if that fixes the issue.
Tried that as well, i began to research the problem more and it could possible that my nand is corrupt, so i might need to send it in under warranty? If this where the case would i just need to lock the bootloader?
reboot into recovery and wipe dalvik and try to reboot. Had the same problem but on cm7/matr1x and i wiped it and it booted, worth a try.

Recovery > Factory Reset / Wipe
^ that should get it back to working
You can also "adb shell" in while in recovery and look if your backups are in a subfolder of /data/media, like /data/media/0 most likely.
And in the future always keep a copy of your backups on your PC

i tried recovery but it does nothing im trying to set up adb but it just makes no sense to me at all its almost like the computer doesnt even see the phone i know it has to be something simple as to why i cant access the files from clockwork recovery but for the life of me i cant figure it out
Download Google Nexus 7 Toolkit V3.2.0
choose option "9. Download, Extract + Flash Google Factory Stock Rom and follow the instructions..
i had the exact same problem with my nexus 7 and this worked like a charm
hope it helps.
Thanks for the help but I fixed the problem. I let it boot to the setup screen where it kept saying setup wizard has stopped. From there I could recognize the device on a computer and transfer files over even though it read grouper on full android and not nexus 7. Now I'm on eclipse and it seems to be working great but I'm going to get rid of clockwork and install twrp just so I can hopefully not have that happen again. One weird thing though when I look for my backup I made prior to all of this and even the paranoid android ROM and gapps I can't find them anywhere on my SD card its like they literally vanished.

Where did you copy the files to? I have the same thing. The only folders I have are: Alarms, android, carbon, clockworkmod, dcim, digital editions, download, mobile systems, movies music notifications pictures podcasts and ringtones?
Unless there is a wy for it to be an actual drive right now it shows up as a music device in my computer.
when you did a wipe did you wipe all data? I know when I went to flash a ROM I wiped data like I did with my bolt and it erased everything on my n7.

Hi guys, I hope this thread is still active...
I'm having the same problem here. I tried installing cyanogenmod onto my n7 and am now getting the same "unfortunately, setup wizard has stopped" message. I've tried wiping the data and rebooting, to no avail. I have the toolkit, but it won't recognize the tablet so I can't reboot from there. I have a backup on my PC, but can't get to it! Sigh...
Thanks in advance for the help
I seem to have messed up the process. I successfully unlocked and rooted my Nexus 7 but during wipe process using JROM flasher something didn't go right and now I'm stuck at the google logo screen forever. I can boot into fast recovery mode but that's about it. I can't do anything.
I've had this done before on my nexus phone but it seems I managed to f it up this time.
I thought I had a rom zip file copied on to the Nexus 7 but it doesn't show in the menu. Now I'm stuck at the logo screen not having access to any roms to install. How do I reset all of this to factory? I've already checked most of the threads regarding this and haven't been able to find a solution yet.

before you do anything, use your recovery to see if the rom zip is located in /data/media/0/. if its there, flash it from that location.
Are you able to boot into recovery?
If yes, it could be as simple as plugging your tablet into the computer and mounting the usb, drag and drop the rom, and flash it without using a toolkit (only recovery). I'm not familiar with jrom flasher, but i will say the more variables there are, the more chance of a problem.
If no, you're best off running the stock factory image through your computer, found here: https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images#nakasi. I had your problem at one point, and could not even boot into recovery. After trying to install cwm through adb (which failed), and a number of toolkits, the factory image was what brought my nexus back to life.
I remember reading that sometimes a wipe can delete your recovery as well as your system (and whatever else you have on your n7), although i dont know if that was ever fixed, as i got my tab replaced a month or two ago and havent rooted it again yet. There was some type of command or .zip or something that should be used to keep recovery after wipes. When i expirienced problems such as yours, it was also from a bad wipe from a toolkit. Using just the recovery afterwards, i never expirienced any issues, even without the recovery fix.
I would definitely try simms suggestion first if you can access recovery. If that fails, try one of the above processes.
PS, even if you can access recovery, if at this point you just want to go completely stock, the factory image will work regardless.
cheers
Thanks for the help guys, I've been struggling for the past 3~4 hours but I found a solution.
What I did was use JROMFlasher and upload a rom zip to the sdcard directly and go from there.

I have a rooted nexus 10 running the latest CM10 with Clockwork Recovery. One day it ran out of battery and when I charged and booted it up, it got stuck at the Google logo. I went into CW Recovery and wiped everything, but I realized it wouldn't mount anything. I got messages saying:
"E: Can't mount /cache/recovery/command

I tried Wug's toolkit, I tried nexus root toolkit, and tried downloading adb to my pc with fastboot commands.
Someone please help !
If I were you, I'd try to flash the stock recovery using Wug's Toolkit (somewhere in the advanced tools menu). Then, unbrick it and install everything custom from the scratch. However, always remember to be careful with advice from pingguo! I'm not a dev, but I have quite some experience in softbricking devices and finding a way to get them running again. :silly:
All you need to do is download the fastboot files, use the flash all file and then go into the stock recovery and wipe data/factory reset. It will boot after that.

I have tried that. It doesn't seem to work :crying:.

Any other ideas?
Try to download the stock 4.2.0 image manually from goo.im
I remember having that issue with some automatically fetched image...

Yep, I agree.
I have seen this problem a few times recently, I think this can help: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=38995903&postcount=2
I think the problem you are having is relating to fastboot.exes interaction w/ your specific device. Good luck!
Edit: But one thing I'm unsure of in your case is - I think I remember reading on these forums about if you do a full wipe off both /all areas and one other condition, you could have a real bad situation. Perhaps a pro knows on that?

when I boot into recovery, it's still clockwork. When I use wug's toolkit to flash stock recovery or stock kernel, it temporarily boots into the Sentinel Rom (I said CM10 before but I got the roms mixed up), but all messed up. Once I hard reset that it goes back to being stuck at the Google logo.

Well, usually when someone reports "stuck at Google (nexus) logo" the fix is just "factory wipe". And it gets reported a lot because it seems to happen after fastboot oem unlock (at least on 4.2.1) almost always.
The behavior you describe is certainly weird. But even if its not stock recovery, can you use any of them to do a "factory wipe"?
Im pretty new to all of this myself, but everyone always touts the "flash-all back to stock" as a way to fix everything. If you poke around in those threads I linked to you will find one of the vets here walks someone through something similar to what you are describing... but not 100% exact same...
I think it is possible to re-flash just the stock recovery, if flash-all is not getting you to that point. I'd look into that (I think that's even talked about on the links I did above.) If you could flash JUST the stock recovery first, then maybe you could use flash-all to completion?
You need to flash the stock recovery to get it to work

I panicked and probably did something quite stupid...
So I tried to flash the new cyanogenmod rom to have a taste of kit kat, but then I had the status 7 error.
This never occurred to me before, I didn't keep a backup to fall back onto... ( yes, I am an idiot, I learned my lesson, the hard way)
Than the device won't boot, it shows the Google logo twice, and then goes into the clockwork mod, where you choose to flash roms
and I am stuck.
I tried Nexus Root Toolkit, doesn't help because my device is not booting up, no way can it install the drivers properly...
and I think I did something more ingenious... I just tried anything on the Toolkit, and I got my rooted Nexus 7 locked...
But it's still the same, I am stuck at the clockwork mod thing just as before... Wiped whatever I can. and even formatted the sdcard and system...
Some Android Wizard out there... Please help...
If at boot you go to recovery directly... You have had to flash new version of recovery in wrong partition. You must flash it last version of recovery with "fastboot flash recovery yourrecovery.IMG" (see 'recovery' as partition to flash). Then flash boot and system partitions from factory image (in XDA have you multiples threads about it) if you want to keep your data. If not, flash factory image from usual ways (this wipes your data) and then flash recovery like I say above.
After that, try to flash CM again.
PS: I recommend TWRP instead of CWM.

but its more serious than that... My computer doesnt recognize the tablet because of some driver issues... I am not sure, at this moment, whether the USB debugging thing still works
i can only get to the clockwork mod page, bootloader and thats it.
I cant flash anything, I cant transfer files from the PC to tablet....
please, please help.
