fxp046 brings vibration, bluetooth and wifi back
could someone that's has updated should say something? camera stills hangs?
I'm using 046 with doomkernel right now and its running great! Everything works the only thing I've noticed is that when you turn on bluetooth with wifi it just errors out so it'll probably be fixed when doom releases a new kernel

Has anyone flashed 046 with the original kernel? does touchpads work ie dead space etc???
I did a first time install of 7.2.0 yesterday using the supplied kernel (as Doomlord is stil working on an optimal one). I'll report back with findings once an update to that is released.
The latest nightly changelog suggests ICS is st starting to be merged
Okay but what does it exacty mean? I mean in the changelog.

By the look of it now parts of the ICS framework signal indicator etc
nice

Its hard to say I don't think it will be long giving how long it took them to code gingerbread to my nexus one
keep folowing the changelog, they're doing a great job!
i saw they've started to merge ICS stuff, by that mean the CM7 will become CM9 if they'll merge the ICS source code?
They may be merging ICS source with CM source, but they won't be releasing it for devices for quite some time. I expect the first nightlies to be around January / February time
I still don't understand the difference between the nightlies and the progress the team free xperia makes here in the boards with their FXP0xx releases :/
Which one is better / more up to date ?
Thanks,

The nightlies are compiled everyday and contain any additions to git from that day. The FXP releases are usually around a weekly release cycle.
The nightlies contain more recent code changes so are "more up to date", but you run the risk of using not fully tested code and so may be buggy (I've encountered a boot-loop with CM nightlies before, so fresh backups are needed).
There is no "better" version, just whichever you prefer.

The touch pads work in every game I've been using at least and I remember reading on the cm thread that touch pads don't work for ANY of the ea games.

Hi,
i know that the build would be slow as hell but has anyone compiled ICS for the G1? just for trying it ?
i would like to try it myself but i have no clue on how and from hat i`ve heard my computer would take ages to build it
It's done for droid eris, it can be ported to G1.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1352170
Porting would be inefficient when it can be built from source.
Unfortunately I can't do neither

Ice Cream Sandwich Build Help
As soon as the source was released I was thinking about trying to build it for "old reliable" (my nickname for my old G1). I know it would be slow as mud but I still want to give it a try. Problem is I've never compiled the source of Android before so I would be going in blind. I've read the info at source.android.com so I have somewhere to start. If anyone has any other guides/tutorials on how to build Android for a device then I would be really appreciative. I'm a Computer Science major so don't be afraid to throw a little code at me either. I'll include the details of my phone below in case anyone needs it.
HTC Dream
SPL: HBOOT-1.33.2005 (DangerSPL)
Radio: 2.22.19.261
OS: CyanogenMod 6.1 (Android 2.2.1)
You can have a look at Terry' ezGingerbread thread. Here he explains what to do to compile his ezGingerbread from the sources. Principally compiling ICS is the same, but you need to exchange / modify the manifest to your needs.

Thanks, I looked it up and it was really helpful. Just a couple of quick questions. Do you know how far from stock ezGingerbread is? What do you mean when you say manifest? When people port a new version to a new device how is it normally done?
Thanks for your help. If I manage to get anything useful I'll be sure to share it here first.

It's almost stock, but there are some projects from CM included and some he cloned from CM or from other sites and manages them by himself. Details you can see it in his manifest.xml located in the .repo directory. The manifest defines, what projects are to be included and what branch you want to use for these projects.
You will not want my manifest for ICS (at least unless I make an ICS branch myself)
The reason is you will want to use the ICS git repos and not the GB git repos (original or cloned by me)
That said if you are new to building an android rom look at the structure using ezgb some, and build ezgb, then when you understand the structure clone ICS from aosp (see info on source.android.com) and create your own manifest from that including cloned git repos you need from ezgb with any addtl modifications required.
The first thing is:
* Git is the source control for all parts of android, however many (well over 200) git repos are used in ICS
* Repo is a tool (python script with plugins pulled from its own git repo) for maintaining all of the git repos used in an android build, and creating the true tree of repos needed for the work directoy.
* Manifest is a special git repository with default.xml (and sometimes other manifest xmls) used by the repo script to find all the projects other git repositories, as well as what branch/commit to checkout to the work directory.
Thanks for the advice guys. Glad to see the little G1 is still getting some love. I think I'll start by building ezGingerbread to get the handle on the build process for Android and at least get up to 2.3.
If anyone knows what kinds of modifications are normally needed for a port like this then I would appreciate the help. Is it normally just editing some config files or would I have to dive into the code? Thanks again.

Looks like someone has beaten me to the punch. Anyone interested shout go have a look at this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=19648827
not exactly.
that is a port from a source-build for the hero
but very close
looks like the dev is trying to make a source build for the dream.
you could contact him so you can work together
Really get the cm9 source, pull forward the dream/sapphire device trees from cm7 (or firerats port of that) and it ought to be alright.
There seems little in the way of true cm bits at current (sure to change soon) but most of the hardware backwards compatibility patches are alredy in cm9 from the looks of it.. for all I know this is a cm9 build since aosp has no hero device tree out of box.
I was going to reply to that thread but since I'm still considered new I can't post to development threads. I guess I will PM the dev later to let him know I'm interested in helping him out.
Why would you build for another device if the dream has built into AOSP? Doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me unless they flat out took out the board file in ICS but you could easily put it back by pulling it from an earlier revision.

It's been a long time since there was an official build. I think I will share my build for now until the build infra is running again.
Do NOT report any issue in the main CM nightly thread. You have been warned!
You can however report issues here, and pray somebody will listen to them.

Again, you have been warned!
FAQ
Q. What does the test folder mean?
A. It will be unofficial builds with additional commits from developers which are not yet approved to go into CM. There is probably a good reason why it didnt get merged yet, so you are warned!
Q. Is this build faster than latest nightly?
A. This build is fast, but probably not faster than latest nightly
Q. Is battery life better then latest nightly?
A. This build battery life is good, but probably not better than latest nightly
Q. What does updated WIFI driver do?
A. Nothing, I removed it.
Q. What has been added/changed since last build?
A. Check Changelog for latest changes.
Q. Can i flash this over my currently nightly?
A. Yes you can flash this over a nightly just like you do with another nightly
Q. Where did the KANG go?
A. It got replaced by UNOFFICIAL to prevent misunderstanding.
Thanks a lot! I think this should become the place to share our Kang builds with the rest of the world.

Thanks i was about to make one myself but wasnt sure if the trouble to do it would worth the effort ^^U

Probably better to have 2 places, one to discus how to build a KANG, and one (this one) to discus posted KANGS. Both have different audiences, people who like to build and people who like to flash.
Agreed, ignore my previous post

Hi, what are the differences between this and a cm7 nightly?
Can I flash this over nightly 181?
Thanks in advance
It is updated until the 8th of December. Safe to flash over 181, just another update plus an addon as stated in the op (updated wifi driver from zach).
Basically it contains almost all changes from the changelog for nightlies..
Taptalked u see
Ok thanks. I installed it, it works pretty well, but still has got a bug present in nightly 181... The fade effect when you unlock the lockscreen is not present. Could you try to fix it? Thanks!

It uses the same sources as CM7, and it uses the same build process.
The only thing different is the updated WIFI driver which zach and fugumod uses, and of course the recent changes which are not inside the latest nightly's.
So you can assume the following:
* This build is fast, but probably not faster than latest nightly 181
* This build battery life is good, but probably not better than latest nightly 181
* Maybe the WIFI signal could be better, but you will have to find that our yourself.
* Check Changelog for latest changes compared to latest nightly 181
* Yes you can flash this over a nightly just like you do with another nightly
Enjoy
Hi there
As u all may know PA 3.0 got released for nexus prime 7,10,4 along with the source. So i was hoping someone could bring this beautiful rom to our devices..

Also wanted to know if there's any pure AOKP 4.2 rom ...
Thanks

AFAIK there's no source ported to run on tab2 yet, but it's meaning of time.
Why? Cause now PA is based in AOSP instead of CM. But as I said before, it's just meaning of time.
Yeah...it would be great to have the rom!
Why is there no AOSP 4.2.X rom for tab 2
Hi there
I wanted to know why is there no 4.2.X AOSP rom cuz aosp and cm combo roms are some of the best roms integrating the features of both of them.
Yet even on AOSP site there is no 4.2.X release.. which means there is no AOSP 4.2.X support for tab2 .... correct me if i'm wrong.
Hope this helps

1)The galaxy tab 2 is not an aosp device this forces devs to have to modify the source code in order for the device specific things to work like drivers
2) the cyanogenmod team does most of it's initial testing on samsung devices that's why we have CM roms
If someone more knowledgeable than me comes around feel free to correct me
